Owner Pose
Conner There are a couple ambulances and a dozen police cruisers blocking one of the Upper East Side main arteries. So it is quite a mess. Traffic jam going all the way to Gotham, at the other side of the river. Apparently there was a botched assassination attempt that ended up in a shootout, in Manhattan, during daylight. Of course supers got involved.

In fact one of them is still there. A young man with dark hair and a leather jacket. The red S on his t-shirt clearly visible. He is sitting cross-legged on the remains of a SUV, looking terribly bored. The cops are pretty much ignoring him at the moment.
April O'Neil April doesn't do a whole lot for Channel Six anymore, but she does occasionally show up for a remote piece like this if its a story that intrigues her and this one was one of those cases. The red white and blue C6 News Van had been parked near the incident for awhile now and April had already done at least one broadcast about the event to the public. Now, she's searching for her own interviews and commentary from those involved.

In a bright yellow hoodie that is zipped up to her mid torso over a white teeshirt, blue jeans and black shoes, April is making her rounds talking to people and take notes on a Stark-tech tablet computer.

She spots Conner and several people had indicated he was heavily involved in the mix, so she inevitably makes her way to him. She approaches him where he sits on that battered vehicle and after taking that sight in, April looks up at him and offers him a friendly smile. "Hey." She starts off. "Mind some company, maybe a few questions?" She asks. A reporter badge is clipped to her hoodie on her left side.
Conner Conner perks up when the young redhead approaches. He seemed distracted, because he was distracted trying to listen to what the cops are discovering. In part because it is what Robin told him he should do, mostly because he is bored.

But the presence of April could make things less boring, so he responds to the smile with his own. "Yes please," beat, "I mean, some conversation would be nice. It has been almost fifteen minutes since any of the cops came to ask me anything." He glances at the badge, "April O'Neil? Pretty sure I have seen you on TV a few times. I am Superboy. Ask away."
April O'Neil After he responds positively to the request for some questions, April glances to her left toward the police barricade line as well, then looks back to Conner and she raises her right hand up to swipe some of her dark hair out of her face to tuck it behind an ear again.

She shows him another quick smile then and nods once toward his shirt. "So you're not just a big fan of Superman." She states more than questions. "You're actually one'a the ones out there doin' the fighting to try'n help out? Got yourself some super powers too?" She asks then. "Are you related to Superman?" She asks him next. "You bare a fairly striking resemblance, if I might be so bold to say."

She glances down to her tablet computer and swipes at it a few times with her right hand now, trained and experienced motions with her fingers shows she's likely used that thing a ton. "What all happened here?" She asks him further then, curious for his rundown on it.
Conner "Ah... yes," Superboy slids off the wreck and stands up. He does look quite a bit like Superman, although he is far younger and lacks about 30 lbs. of muscle. "Long story there, but I am related. And I came here when I heard gunshots. Not sure what happened, but one of the groups of shooters had a large blue robot armed with a machinegun. So I went after it and," wrecked SUV and a few other vehicles, a light post broken. "I think no one died, although there are a couple of seriously injured gunmen."
April O'Neil April's blue eyes look around the sight again after Conner's words on it. She smirks at the gunmen being injured. "Probably no one crying tonight over that." She softly mutters as she jots something else down onto the tablet. Her eyes dart back up to his then. "I'd say you definitely helped stop innocents from dying here, I mean, who brings a machine gun robot to a public location and opens fire that has any intentions beyond death and destruction?" She states with a half smile before she glances down, then back up once more. "So you're Kryptonian too?" She then asks of him. "How many of your people are on Earth? I always get different numbers thrown at me..."
Conner "Actually I am part human, part Kryptonian," admits Conner, with a shrug. "And hardly as powerful as the big guy." How many Kyrptionians? Lets see onetwothree, maybe four. Hmm.

"You know, I am not sure which of the groups had the robot. It might have been in there," he thumbs to the small restaurant behind him. "All the time, perhaps as some kind of robot guard. That is one for the cops."

"So I know Superman, Supergirl and Power Girl. There was also General Dru-Zod, but he left Earth years ago. Which is good. I am pretty sure the Superman from China is not Kryptonian at all, but he has similar powers. And then there is Mon-El, who was not born in Krypton but I think it is from the same race as Superman."
April O'Neil April is staring at him while he speaks up to the point where he indicates the restaurant and thats when she looks toward it, then back down to her tablet a few moments later. "They warned us for a hundred years in science fiction that robots would be trying to kill us all someday, seems that day is quickly approaching." April jests, sort've, before she looks up and shows a good natured smirk at Conner.

A slight nod is given to the young man then as he give sher a rundown on the Krytponian and Kryptonian-like folks all circulating around the globe and that draws out a quiet. "Interesting..." From the reporter. "So then, what about you?" She asks vaguely before adding. "Are you on any of the big teams? Justice League? Vying for a spot with the Avengers? Or are you just... doing random heroics like this afternoon?"
Conner "Hey, I know a few really nice robots, they are people too," protests Superboy, smiling again. "Now, this one didn't seem the kind that could think and talk. Just a machine, not a person." There is a difference, see?

"As for me, I moved to New York a couple years ago, after living in Hawaii since I was sixteen. And, hmm... really, I was THE hero of Hawaii for a while. I was well-known. Now I am not so much in the public eye, New York has a lot of heroes and I am not in any of the big teams. I was in Young Justice years ago. Most of the old gang joined the Titans. I went my own way."
April O'Neil April shows a small smile at the robot talk part. "Yeah, maybe. I'm still pretty sure my Roomba is gonna come to life some night and whip out a knife at me." She jokes, her famous nerdy-type humor ever on display.

A simple tilt of her head to the side then as she stares at him while he reveals those next bits of personal information. "You left Hawaii to come to Manhattan?" She asks with a growing grin. "That was stupid." Its a tease, a bit of harsh New Yorker jabbing. She glances him over and motions at his outfit. "You're not dressed like a super hero, that seems to be what gets you embedded in the public's eye. You know, cape, overly revealing tights." April smirks at him again.

"But seriously, if you're thinking about making a big impact around here for good? Those teams probably are the best way to go. Them, and their members, are pretty much all my callers talk about when they call in to my show."
Conner Conner loses his smile when April pokes him for leaving Hawaii for New York. "New York is not that bad," he offers lamely. "I had to leave Hawaii for, er... personal reasons," which apparently are the depressing kind.

"Now yeah. The Avengers are pretty cool and just around the corner. But the League has Superman, so I don't think I would have much to do there." He considers, "Do you know if Captain America is recruiting?"
April O'Neil April shows a soft and understand smile at the part about Hawaii, she's sure its a personal reason that he left and she's not the kind of reporter to pry into that stuff unless its willfully given, unless she doesn't like the person she's asking, then she'll get a bit more savage with them.

At the Captain America question she just laughs softly and shakes her head from right to left. "I don't have any idea, to be honest. Its not really a line of work I think I'd ever be considered for, so I haven't done a lot of snooping around their recruitment office." She motions to the SUV and then at the scene around them. "But if you helped stop all of this from happening? Why wouldn't they at least consider it. Worth a shot, yeah?" She says with a light smile.

"So do you think there'll be any other attacks related to this one that people should look out for?" She then asks.
Conner Superboy looks relived April is not going to insist about Hawaii. So he seems to relax a bit and glances at the cops when she asks about the attacks. "To be honest, I have heard there is a gang war ongoing right now. The MD12 killings and all the 'Foot Clan' crimes. I am no detective, but I think it could be related."

As for his outfit. "I can't make capes work. Seriously. I have no idea how Superman or Thor manage. It would look stupid on me."
April O'Neil April softly nods her head to the information about the gang war. "I believe I've heard a little about that... hopefully the police can get off their butts and do something about it, gang wars sound like their territory after all." She can be pretty hard o the cops, knowing a lot of them personally she's not a big fan of a good many of them. She dated one for awhile though, so she clearly can have a soft spot for them.

At the bit about Capes, April just smirks. "Yeah, you gotta have a certain air about you, I think. Puff your chest out a lot and just let the world know how undyingly majestic you are." She grins for a moment. "I had Thor on my show though, and admittedly he is pretty majestic."

April then softly nods her head to Conner. "Well, Superboy, I really do appreciate you answering my questions. I'll be sure to give you a shout out in my next broadcast. People absolutely adore hearing about the lesser known heroes, if you got any social media accounts you might get a major boom in followers!" Its 2027 after all, just about everyone grew up on those things now!
Conner Superboy shurgs, then grins again. "I actually do have some diehard fans. I used to care a lot about that, you know?" He admits. "I have an agent, and when I was in Hawaii... heh, I did a lot of silly stunts because he advised me to do them. I don't really care about fame now, or even money. After a few years in the 'never-ending fight' against crime, I think I have learned what things are important."
April O'Neil April gently nods her head two quick and short times to what he says then and there. "You seem to have a good head on your shoulders, and you look just a little younger than me, so... seems like you're destined for big things ahead of you if you keep helping people like you did here today..." She motions to the scene that unfolded here, the cops and the rest of the media in attendance.

"But yeah, don't... do silly stunts. That'll be bound to get you discredited after you spend a bunch of time trying to build street cred up. My experience tells me that the cops are way more willing to work with the heroes who carry themselves without... you know, stunts." She shows a slight grin to him then.
Conner Superboy laughs, "bit too late for that, I think some of those got to the Wikipedia," he confesses. "But look, I still get royalties from my action figures. Handy, as the rent in New York is crazy. I don't want to move to Gotham, not enough sunlight."

He is younger than her. Pfff. "Funny thing is not many supers in New York stay to talk with the police. I think I get along with them well enough. In Metropolis we did talk more with the cops. Same in Hawaii. That is maybe, well, New Yorkers."
April O'Neil April has to grin lightly at that last part with regard to New Yorkers. "I have to be nice though. The amount of stress that an NYPD officer goes through due to the opposite of a super powered hero is pretty tremendous when compared to other major cities across the globe. We seem to be getting the brunt of the violent actions from very powerful people... But still. Have to keep everyone on their toes, can't let ourselves slide when it comes to being ready, yeah?"

With a sharp exhale then, April nods her head once and jots a few more things down onto her tablet screen. "Gotham is definitely not on my list of places I plan to live any time soon, so we at least share that in common." She states with another little smirk. "If you see Batman around though, tell him to swing by, I'd love to get a chance to chat his cowled face up too." This garners a grin from April then.

"So no capes, no super hero team, just a leather jacket and the most recognizable logo in the world on your chest." She softly nods her head then to Superboy. "Guess I'm understanding you a bit better now. You're the young and cooler version of your relative with the cape."
Conner "Oh yes," agrees Superboy, snickering. "younger and cooler. And teams... yeah," he almost tells April about the Outsiders, but Robin likes to keep things quiet. Batpeople. "Listen, I am going to ask the captain there if I can leave now. If you want me, I will answer more questions, but I am going to grab a sandwich first."
April O'Neil April glances over to the captain in question and then back to Conner. She smiles at him sincerely and waves a hand gently. "No no, its fine. You've answered a ton of stuff already. I gotta make my way around and find a few more people before I'm gonna jet outta here myself." She explains before she offers a hand for a shake. "Thank you again, Superboy, for defending everyone and helping to stop whatever plans it is they had with this ridiculous attack."
