Owner Pose
Millicent     Witches generally know where the boundries lay, and what lines should just never really be crossed. Ever. Stuff like taking sea life and transmuting them into servants in some chump-change small time gambit, is unwise for sure. Claiming you're the "Queen of the Sea" just because nobody has stepped up yet, is so far over the line that it almost comes back around again. Titles and Names have power, you've got to pay attention to people when they start talking like that and have a little magic to throw around.

These days Millicent was fighting under a hopefully temporary banner, people called her "The Free Lancer" these days. If we're honest she was more an attack dog dumped in the wilderness, than a Mercenary but this is all beside the point. People claiming noble blood or title without the particulars to back it up, were fair game in her very distinctly old fashioned world view. So when word got round, she made time to investigate.

She'd found the witch, found what used to be fish and well it was all clear cut really. There had been a fight, starting up in the parkinglot more than a mile away. She took her time of course, let the Witch demonstrate her unworthiness for any crown. That brings us down to a lovely, secluded beach. Moon rising off in the distance providing neat crisp shadows and a brilliant white glow. A woman with a costume shop halloween costume, and a necklace of sea-shells sprints across the sand. Her minions abandoned, her magic spent, her staff sliced neatly in half some time before.

Now the Fey haven't walked the earth since the dawn of the written age, but they're a timeless people in many ways. Brilliant navy blue silk, blackened chainmail, and a set of relatively minimalist plate cast in stark bone white. An wedge shaped, four eyed hound shaped helmet set atop. The neat silver trim around that short cape draped over one shoulder, that buckler emblazoned with ancient fey pictograms. Not just a soldier then, a Fey Knight. Somone of at least some minor import, walking the mortal plane in search of a pretender to the crown.
Poseidon Once upon a time, when someone claimed ownership or even some sort of power over the seas, Poseidon would've just sent a giant wave to demonstrate that, the sea didn't agree with that claim. Once upon a time, though, Poseidon had even a bigger temper, and people were even wiser enough not to play those games when a tridentwielding god was around. Now, though, with more and more odd things happening, he can't exactly go around doing his godly thing like he once used to do, and so now, he just watches quietly waiting for the right moment to intervene, considering even if to intervene at all.
True, a woman claiming to be queen of the seas and even playing with fishes is something that sent him on the verge of just sending his godly wrath upon her, but. Now, it seems, there's someone else taking care of that specific problem, and that is a scene that he serenely watched through a very concealed scrying spell, sitting on his throne, in his palace under the seas. Building the energy for a teleportation spell wasn't that hard as well, so that when the two approach the sea, the knight and the with, the god of the seas, rightfully called so, is already wearing a blue scaled armour with a golden cloak draped on his shoulders, and his ageless face is framed by his white hair, whipping in the wind when he just appears, out of nowhere, between the two women and the sea itself.
Millicent     That knight hesitates with the appearance of, well something she hasn't laid eyes on in many ages. Honest to god divine royalty, Her spine grows stiff, her shoulders lift and she casts away that more soldierly posture. Chin lifting subtly, as she lowers her swords. Then slowly, she does what you ought to do in such company. She bows her head, slowly reaching back to make the sheathing of her swords plainly visible. This done, she takes a knee and presses her right gauntlet firmly against the beach. A proper, courtly position for a knight to adopt.

Our witch, well she's been chased down by a crazy lady with a wolf helmet all night. Seeing Poseidon, has not improved things. She casts the halves of her staff aside, turns and books it! Yeah she's cutting and running for everything she's worth, screaming like a lunatic the whole way. Poor thing, little high strung perhaps?
Poseidon Poseidon takes a couple of seconds to assess the situation, aknowledging the bowing knight with a polite nod. His attention, though, is momentarily captured bythe fleeing witch, and his right hand extends in her direction almost immediately. For those with even the smallest magical sense, the buildup of Poseidon's magic is clearly felt, and from the fingertips of his hand a string of crackling blue energy shoots out, wraps around the waist of the fleeing woman and yanks her back, lifting her of her feet and hurling her, quite uncerimoniously, in the sea behind him. There, the waters raise and wrap around the witch, enclosing her in a sort of watery globe that soon vanishes under the waves.
"sorry for the delay, and thanks for dealing with her." are the serene words of the man, whose eyes return on the knight and her position "you may rise, that position doesn't, look too comfortable..."
Millicent     Slowly she rises, lifting a heavy gauntlet to her helm. Theres a moment as she fiddles with the buckles, before rolling the thing free. Beneath her skin deep almost black blue, and speckled with bright silver frackles. Her eyes brilliant amber, that long hair the color of moonlight. She's been sculpted by immortal hands for sure, made beautiful in the way only the timeless can. Not -quite- Fey though, just not human either.

Anywho she offers another slow nod "You honor me with your presence your majesty, and to speak so plainly to one beneath your station."And a ghost of a smile on those blackened lips. "I do apologize I was unable to attend to the insult in a more timely manner, regrettably I am not quite as quick on my feet as I once was when still in service."
Poseidon Poseidon observes the removal of the helmet, and indeed his eyes examine the woman under it for a couple of seconds afterwards, while listening to her words "formalities and protocol, in several ways, have disappeared in the latest years. Seeing someone who still remembers it, anyways, is a refreshing and appreciated experience for sure" he lowers his arms, letting them hang on his sides in a relaxed posture "as for the dealing with the woman, you did very well, intervened even where others, me included, didn't. That is, again, much appreciated, I do truly thank you for that."
Millicent     Gingerly she crosses an arm across her chest for a deep, courtly bow. "It was my pleasure your majesty, as always I am happy to be of some use to any fairly held crown."And a slow rise, casually hanging that helmet on her belt, before taking up a decidedly more relaxed posture. "I must unfortunately however report that despite my looks, I am no longer in the service of the Heavenly Court. With regret, Her Grace the Duchess in Blue had no further need of my services."Theres a little shrug there. "I'm just happy I'm still of some utility even in my retirement."
Poseidon Poseidon again quietly listens to the woman's words, nodding in understanding "well no matter who you serve if anyone at all, you still acted fairly and in a just way, which is, indeed, a good thing." he considers the knight, then, his eyes scanning her attire and weapons again "and so, if I may ask, how do you fill your years of retirement? What's that you do now that you're no longer in, active service?"
Millicent     "I entered the courtly service before man had learned to draw words, and speak them back again. My return from service was, unpleasant and unwelcome I must confess."Theres a wry little smile there. "I tried to live simply, but it was not to be. Nobody had use for a woman with a sword either, so things were deeply unpleasant for a great many years."She gives another little shrug. "These days I offer my services as a bodyguard, occasionally I teach the sword. All very dull work to be honest, haven't seen a war in a few hundred years now. Been without a worthy fight for many years now, the new breed of men who walk the earth are all just terribly."And a pause as she searches for the right word, biting her lip for a moment. "Soft."
Poseidon Poseidon chuckles lightly, listening to the woman's words "I personally am quite glad there's no war lately, in which we must intervene. I know for a fact someone isn't, but well." he shrugs "and, as for your situation, I understand it... Back in the good times I had much more important things to do, and at least humans knew how to be a littlebit more, well, respectful towards gods. Now, we are being replaced by gods wearing capes and flying around stopping criminals. Which is, admirable for sure, but still..." he shrugs again, sidestepping towards a nearby rock and slamming his right gauntleted hand on it. A powerful blast of water shoots from his hand, washing over the rock itself and, when it seeps down on the sandy ground, the rock is shaped roughly like a couch on which the man takes a seat
Millicent     "They wear cape, and some claim some titleage but very few have any true lineage of import. They have but laurels, your majesty. They have neither the nobility nor the majesty, of a crown of true import."The production of a couch, well not so much as a flinch. Likely used to displays of otherwordly power, of course. "Long after they have gone to dust, you shall remain and be remembered as they are forgotten."See, courtly knight folks.

"It's a terrible thing to hunger for, certainly your Majesty. I must confess however, I crave it so."One finger lifting to tap-tap at her breast plate. "When I had exhausted my mortal body, and spent my mortality in fealty to the Divine court? Well like all whom had been chosen, I was granted the chance to become greater than I had been born. I killed a great beast, the personification of men's nightmares. The great wolfess of winter, I took her life. It's her blood that courses in my veins now, her heart in my chest, her bones forged into armor, her teeth my swords. Thus it's only natural that I should hunger for the conflict, I was born from fear in no small part."
Poseidon "I can't truly hold you responsible for craving it, I suppose." Poseidon says, examining the breastplate and the woman again, gesturing with his left hand towards the couchshaped rock "feel free to take a seat if you so wish" he adds, leaning a bit backwards himself. "and, even if it is true that when they'll be dead I'll probably still be here, what they do is still more noticed in the short term, probably. True, someone notices more when someone else saves them from a mugging, and it is unlikely to notice an earthquake that doesn't happen in the first place, a tsunami that doesn't happen in the first place... Oh, but when they do happen, they're so quick to curse my name" he chuckles, almost amusedly
Millicent     She sits when bidden, because of course she does. "Your crown does not depend upon their approval, your majesty. Your authority requires no agreement on their behalf. Men are temporary, fickle things. They are ruled by the now, rather than the truth of the world. They celebrate willful ignorance, and live in terror of doing whats necessary of becoming worthy of your attention."Helmet is set aside, swords layed gently in her lap. "Their approval is just sugar, sweet but ultimately useless in the larger scheme of things."
Poseidon Poseidon shakes his head, his white hair flying in all directions for a moment before settling back orderly on his shoulders "while what you say is mostly true, it still doesn't physically work that way in some cases." he looks thoughtful for a moment, considering what and how much to reveal "even if me and other olympians are quite, powerful, if compared to many other creatures of this planet, our power is linked to the amount of people believing in it and following us... That translates with it's true my crown requires no approval or agreement, but also that if noone believes I have it, I won't be able to do what my crown's duty entails. I don't know if I explained myself."
Millicent     "To the mortals, I suspect not. Though necessary, they're almost not worth the attention."Theres a shrug at that one, religious affairs were always handled by a minister back in the olden days. "Perhaps the construction of a few temples, erected over night? Their appearance suddenly, would create all manner of curiosity certainly?"
Poseidon Poseidon hmms, thoughtful again "mortals have their good sides, though. I, in a way, still like them or I would've left this place to go where many others gods have gone, living a quite simpler and satisfying life, a retirement of sorts if you want..." he states "as for the temples, being curious about something and believing in it is quite different though, I was considering actually going to stop a few bank robberies wielding my trident!" he chuckles, and considering the tone of his voice it is quite unclear if he means it for real or not
Millicent     "I cannot in good faith pledge my heart to another so different from my lady, but I would be remiss if I did not offer aid."Theres a soft nod there as she turns to offer a nod. "You have my sword in any endeavor you wish to undertake, if such a thing is needed from a simple dame such as myself."And well she jerks free a dagger from her belt, before offering the simple care worn blade over. "I am not of the sea, but I recognize the dire necessity of your crown. If it makes you feel any better, who else to accompany you than a white haired retiree?" Says the woman who's features are, well intentionally timeless.
Poseidon Poseidon smiles at the woman, extending his right hand to gently take the dagger "I accept your offer, and would be glad to have you and your sword at my side indeed. And" he tilts his head briefly "it comes unspoken that, whatever you might need, you are free to get in touch and I will do my best to be helpful to you as well, should you need it of course."
Millicent     "I am known amongst the Mortals as 'Millicent Haller', though they call me the Free Lancer. In the service however, I was known simply as the Knight in Blue."She smiles, faintly. "To satisfy the customs of my station, I will require payment. A single gold coin, to maintain my diplomatic neutrality would cover the arrangement neatly. If this is acceptable, of course your majesty. Then you shall have the finest knight to ever put lance upon the rest, at your service."
Poseidon Poseidon nods in understanding and in agreement "a gold coin is an acceptable price... Do you require payment now or just in case you're called to action?" he asks, turning to look directly at the woman "well, you know my name... How would you prefer to be called then, Millicent, or the blue knight?"
Millicent     "As long as I am called to fight, I will never complain about how I am called."Theres a smile there. "To put it plainly, sire. Your credit is good, payment after the act is entirely agreeable. I am in my heart, a simple thing. I fight, you need not worry over me over much."And a faint nod delivered. "It is not a knightly way, to be so fussy over how our betters address us or pay us."
Poseidon Poseidon shrugs "true, but you're still a living being with emotions, feelings and all that, and even if some of my peers wouldn't care less about it I still sort of do, and respect people's preferences and desires when I can." he states plainly too. "however, I will remember your words, and probably will call you Millicent if you wish, until you're called into a fight. In that case, if you so prefer, I can address you as the blue knight?"
Millicent     "As you wish, sire." The smile there is thin, but genuine at least. Shoulders relaxing just a touch more. "I appreciate your concern, you honor me greatly by this deference."And a pause as she inhales, stalling for just a moment. "I am just an attack dog, sire. I am honored and delighted merely to be of some use to anyone who is deserving of my talents, I was reforged as the sword of nobility. So please, do not concern yourself with my feelings. If I get to fight and be of use, you have already done more than you know."
Poseidon Poseidon chuckles again, and slowly starts to stand up "there was this one human, a couple of, ok maybe a bit more than a century ago, who thought that a happy employee was a productive employee... Eh, well, I suppose that idea was not bad after all... Anyways" again, magic starts to gather in the god's body "is there anything you need of me before I return to my palace? There are a few things I should address before they start being serious stuff..."
Millicent     "No sire, nothing comes to mind."She rises when Poseidon does, of course. Scooping up her helmet and following along, two steps behind and to the right. "It has been a distinct honor your majesty, I wish you the best of fortunes until we meet again."And well another courtly bow is offered, before casually pulling that lid back down. It's jeweled eyes flaring to life oncemore, as whatever spellwork governs that armor comes back to life.
Poseidon Poseidon nods politely, and even bows his head respectfully "till our next meeting then, Millicent... Be well" he states, and then, with a final release of the accumulated magic in Poseidon's body, he's gone, disappearing from that location to reappear someplace else likely miles and miles away.
