Puttering about on a Saturday
Date of Scene: 10 October 2020
Location: Skye's Brownstone, Greenwich Village
Synopsis: Skye and Clint talk about cats, spirits and Hell
Cast of Characters: Hawkeye (Barton), Quake

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
It is still early in the morning, and while Skye was still sleeping, Clint decided to do some light workout to start the day before breakfast. Coffee is already brewing in the kitchen. Right now, he's doing some handstand push-ups against the wall, wearing only sweat pants.

Cats Ward and Grant are sitting just there, in front of Clint, curious as to why the male-staff - Clint - is doing that kind of acrobatics.

Quake has posed:
"Uhhhhhhh" are the only words that are issued forth from Skye's side of the bed. Definitely, not a morning person. She rolls over, and tucks his pillow over her head.

Definitely NOT a morning person.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Done with his workout, Clint walks to the kitchen to get two cups of coffee. After feeding the cats, he then goes to the bedroom. Grin on his face, he places a cup of coffee on the night table closest to Skye, then gently pulls on the pillow, so she can smell the wonderful fresh coffee.

"Hey, waky waky," he says, "Ye're missing the coffee, not to mention my being shirtless and all sweaty." If that doesn't work, then he'll just let her sleep a bit more.

Quake has posed:
"Intravenous." Was all she said about the coffee. However, one eyelid peeks open to view the shirtless body. "Since when did you decide to be a morning person?"

Skye found the best times to go online where in the middle of the night. This was new for Clint.

Slowly she gets up, and tucks a pillow behind her. "Did you say coffee?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Coffee, yes. Table, to your left." Clint replies, still grinning. Simple words, so Skye's brain registers the most important, the direction to the closest coffee.

Clint then goes to sit down on the bed beside Skye, his back to the bedhead. He sips some of his coffee, appreciating the hot beverage. Skye might notice, or not, that he bought the best coffee in town - according to some reviews he read - from an Italian coffee shop.

"Well, morning is good for workout," he says, "Changing habits ain't that bad, even necessary at times." He could say more, but still, Skye is not quite awake yet. He did change some habits lately, like staying away from alcohol, and now working out in the morning.

Quake has posed:
"mmmmm" Skye cups her mug with both hands. "Tell you what, Saturday you can get me up, but Sunday is mine. Deal? Oh yeah, coffee is part of the deal." Come to think of it, this was really good. "Did you wash it out? I meant to do that.."

So many things she had meant to get around too.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint laughs lightly at that, "Fine!" he replies. Drinking more of the coffee, he agrees, "It ain't bad, got it at some Italian shop. We should go together, and try some of the other brands. You'd love it, I'm sure."

Clint then stays silent, lost in thoughts for a moment. He's wide awake, but still Skye is still a bit sleepy. Now would not be a good time to enter in a serious discussion. So instead of adressing whatever he wanted to talk about, he just states.

"I fed the cats."

Quake has posed:
"Mmmm, the cats are gonna get used to you again. You know that." Not that she minds. "Of course they'll tell me that they are starving, feed us! You realize that they are smart, or so they think."

"What on for today? I've been thinking, did you want your basement archery range set back up? I've been thinking, and I miss it."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Yeah, dogs have masters, cats have staff," Clint replies, "And they got a double staff, lucky them."

He then finished his coffee, placing the cup on the table on his side of the bed.

"Given your skills," he says, "It would be /our/ archery range. And yes, we could do that today." He then pauses, and adds, "I've got something tonight in town. Strange thing, kind of séance, y'know, knock on tables, spirit talkin' gig."

Right, now let's see how Skye reacts to that. A computer genius might not believe a lot in /spirits/. Heck, not that Clint seems to believe a lot in it himself.

Quake has posed:
"Well, yes.. Actually, you mean, build it for two?" She'd used it, but it was always his. Skye breaks out in a grin. "Deal."

*head tilt*

"You did say seance, right?" Her coffee mug is still got half. He did say 'seance'.. ah! His father. Got it. "Ssssure, but you do know people will rip you off. Almost none of them can hold a conversation with the dead. You sure?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Oh, it went well. Skye can't see the relieved look on his face, like a man who was expecting some smart comment or judgemental retort. Dear Skye, there are so many reasons he loves her. Being open to others and to different ideas is only one of them.

"Yup, seance," he repeats. "Well, the young woman didn't ask no money," he says, "Of course, I'll have to pay somethin', can't expect people to work for free."

Clint stretches his arms, time to think about it.

"It's important for me, Skye," he then says as if to explain his recent obcession. "It /is/ bothering me a lot. Like somethin' ain't fixed and I want it fixed. And I don't know how to do it. Heck, talking to all kind of weirdos - thought this young lady is decent. But really, I looked around, talked to that woman at the Club Mjolnir, then went chasing after some barghest, that don't even seem to exist. Fuckin' waste of time. So yeah, I'll try that seance, and then think about the options. So far, I only got one real offer, and I'm not sure I want to accept it.

Quake has posed:
Skye listened carefully. "So, she didn't have a cost?" That can be good, or really bad. "Okay, but you make certain you have a back-up plan." Some people were just looking for a way in. "What's this girl like?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint thinks for a moment, "Quite a nice woman, she didn't strike me like someone who would try to scam the customers," he says, "Very helpful. I think she knows her business. For some reason, I kind of trust her," he explains. But what can you know about someone you really met once for only a few minutes.

"I don't think I need a plan B for that seance," he adds, "But if it doesn't work, well, I'll have to consider the other offer. And I'll sure need a plan B, even plan C for that one."

He frowns lightly thinking about that other option, visibly unsure if he should talk about it.

Quake has posed:
Skye frowns. "You know, it's hard letting someone do the things they have to do, and stay out of it. I.. trust you."

Since she and Clint got back together they both had to work on it. This time was hers to back off and make mistakes. She breathed inwardly.

"And if it doesn't work, what then?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
With a shake of his head, Clint replies right away, "Skye, if I wanted you to stay out of it, would I be talking to you about it?" he asks.

"I'm fine with that seance, no big risks in there. But going to Hell with a not so clear deal, well, I'm not ready to do that. I'm no specialist, but that offer strikes me like some dark art. Quite risky in my book."

Another silence, then sighing Clint adds, "I don't want to take any risk doing something totally stupid, making things worse in the end. And I have to think about you. So well... lot of thinking to do, hey?"

Quake has posed:
"What?" Skye has to take a figurative step back, her initial response was 'oh hell no'. "Clint? I know there are some few you could trust to take you to hell and back. I just don't think if they said no, you wouldn't be satisfied."

Her mug is placed on the bedside table.

"I'll help you pay if it comes to that. And yes, your telling me, but remember when you and I were together the first time? I think someone we forget to share and instead assume the other would always do what I wanted. And mostly, it was me. With my parents coming up you got tangled in my business, instead of my asking you if you wanted to. I know it's a slight difference, but this time I'm trying. Stand off, or come in. But you decide."

A smile slips across her lips.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint listens and processes what Skye is saying. She's right. Right on everything, but maybe one.

"You didn't have to ask me, Skye," he says, "I /wanted/ to help, to support you. Heck, I still want to. I'm not asking you now, just talking about it helps me putting things in order." He pauses for a moment, then adds, "Maybe I should let go of my own obcession with the dead, and work with you to find your mother. T'would beat going to Hell to talk to dead people."

Then Clint laughs lightly, adding, "Y'know, maybe a road-trip to Waverly would do just fine, who knows? Talkin' of moving... what d'you say we get up, get breakfast and look at that archery range? Or, we could just stay in bed and find something to do?"
