Tinyplot: Mutant Cure

Psylocke has posed:
It was a few hours later when Betsy had finished up her report to the X-Men leader and made sure their captive was locked away securely for interrogation later when she woke up. The team had done well, for their first mission as a team. But not as well as she'd hoped. Which had the Brit a bit peeved, to say the very least. More at herself. She wasn't used to leading a team and felt she could have done much better.

Yet there was at least one more thing to check before calling it a night. After all, she knew their technopath better than to think he had not done a bit more than they were told.

Thus still in costume, she made her way through the boys dorm hallway, heading for the door and giving a solid rap of knuckles against the hard surface to seek admittance at Jeremy's room.

SpyderByte has posed:
Giving a long stretch, Jeremy powers down his computer once the 'team' has bagged a pair of captors. It takes a few minutes for the young technopath to disconnect from the world's network as he gives a visible shudder, followed by blowing his bloodied nose into a rag. As he reaches out for a bottle of pills, he lobs a few back with a swallow of his energy drink, then replaces his blue light glasses for his normal one.

The Goth lurches up from his chair, ambling over to the blinds to open them up and reveal the late evening, surprised at once that he was disconnecting and not seeing the early morning. It's still the weekend, so at least he doesn't have to worry about wrestling his way through the first few classes before his third wind kicks in.

Flopping on to the bed with a tablet, he taps away at the screen for a few hours with his finger, scouring the net. At the sound of the knocking, he tilts his head upwards, then rolls to his feet and trudges over to open it up as he stares upwards at the purple haired Asian.

<< Hello. >> A speaker chimes from behind him.

Psylocke has posed:
"Good evening, Jeremy. I apologize for the late call but I felt it best to address this sooner rather than later," Betsy offered with a tight smile, tone oh-so-proper.

"You're assistance today was invaluable. I appreciate all you did to help prevent what could have been a larger tragedy than it was."

She glances into the room behind him, in the general direction of the computer, then focuses back on his face. "I would like to know what you have learned. I have no doubt you were digging far deeper than you shared with us during the heat of battle."

SpyderByte has posed:
As he lets her in, Jeremy gives a long stretch of his body, tugging his shirt down a bit in the process so it doesn't ride up. He's still skinny.

<< I was able to gain access to their communication devices and thus take any of their geo locations, download their messages to each other and memorize the frequencies they were using. I found out their teleporting system isn't technology based. I guess one of the mutants can do it. I was hoping that wasn't the case. >>

As he sinks down into the chair, the computer comes to life without even touching it as all three screens light up and the large black box glows purple from the visible window of the machine.

Rubbing at his eye with his palm once he lifts his glasses up, he reaches for his blue light ones and slips them over his nose.

<< I've encrypted everything into a few folders and I can send them to you. >> He pauses. << Okay, they're sent to you. I also took the liberty to wipe the bank's hard drives of your presence so that you do not show up. >>

Psylocke has posed:
"Thank you, that is very much appreciated. I did a few alterations of witness perceptions so they will not have a good description of those who assisted either. I didn't want to erase it entirely but at least they will be looking for ghosts."

Such a nonchalant way to say she violated the sanctity of people's minds. For that is what she did. But such was the cost of what they did with their lives. Sometimes the price was a bit of their own souls as they slipped into the darkness.

"If you would be so kind as to forward those files to Mr. Summers as well? Thank you." She considers a moment. "I had suspected as much on their teleport.tation. In the footage we have been able to obtain, one of them always seems to be present when a teleport. occurs. That is the one I tried to take down first. And failed." A bit of a frown as she admits that. It is a difficult pill to swallow.

"I will go look through the files. I have no doubt they are quite thorough. Is there anything specific that stands out as most helpful before I leave you to get some rest? You have certainly earned it."

SpyderByte has posed:
<< What stands out to me is that they knew where Wrecking Ball would be, which makes me concerned that they may be able to track us as well. They teleported into the bank fairly easily and this wasn't on the news yet. I only found out because I live on police scanners. Maybe they are also, but they are highly encrypted channels that takes some effort to work through. >>

Jeremy shrugs his shoulders upwards a bit as he thinks, giving a lick of his lips.

<< I plan on creating a timeline map of their movements with the data that I have acquired. Hopefully with it, we can find out their point of origin and any safe houses they may have. I am curious as to what they want with Wrecking Ball. Maybe recruitment. According to Pixie's intelligence report that I probably should not have access to, a number of his allies were de-powered at the zoo by what appears to be scientists using some type of formula. We do know that Metaforce is targetting anti-mutant extremist human groups. Perhaps they are looking for intelligence on this group that just took mutant powers away on what appears to be a physiological level. They changed our DNA with a prick. >>

Psylocke has posed:
"Likely recruiting. Since they said we had chosen not to join them, although I do not remember personally being given a choice." That gives Betsy an idea, something she will need to consult with Scott about later. "They are targeting anti mutant groups and seem to think any mutant that stands against them is choosing the other side. It may be incorrect but I suspect recruitment was their purpose. Same with other mutants they have attempted to approach and obtain for their use."

She frowns at mention of the men in lab coats. "The men in the helicopter concern me more than this terrorist group. First, how did they know where everyone was. They seem to show up anywhere Megaforce does. So does that mean Megaforce are a front, used to distract and give the scientist their chance? Is this a private group or something the government is using to replace Sentinels in their persecution of mutants." She sighs, running a hand back through her hair. "So many questions with no answers. For now. I just hope we find them before it is too late."

She turns to walk toward the door, glancing back at him over her shoulder. "Get some sleep. Who knows what this will all lead to and when we might be needed again."

SpyderByte has posed:
<< Whatever you pull out of Flutter-butt's head, I am sure I can research it and find more intelligence on the Dark Web. I can buy politicians on there. I am sure that I can find something about evil scientists nuking mutants. Everyone leaves a paper trail and the dark web has all the receipts. >>

Jeremy offers up an awkward smile as the displays turn black behind him as he swivels in his seat towards her.

<< Thank you for trusting me tonight with my comms. I hope that I can do this again. I feel like this is what I was born to do. It's the closest I'll be to a superhero. >>

No capes, just dog collars and trench coats.

Psylocke has posed:
"You are a superhero. You helped save lives today. You are likely to help save them in the future. Not all superheroes wear capes. And life often changes when you least expect it."

She opens the door, about to step out. "After all, I didn't always look like this and have the powers I do. Telepathy was my only gift. I was physically fit but not to the level of this form. I did not know martial arts as I do now. I didn't even look like this. Once upon a time I was a model, with the same name but a different face. I always felt that I was not enough to help the team, not good enough."

She gives a sad sort of smile. "Be careful what you wish. Sometimes, it comes true. Sleep well, Jeremy."
