Date of Scene: 23 December 2020
Location: Chinese Food Restaurant, Two Bridges
Synopsis: Skye and Dinah shoot the sh*t, and enjoy some Chinese.
Cast of Characters: Quake, Black Canary

Quake has posed:
It was a cold day, but sunny.

Skye had made a point of checking up on a friend, and having her favourite meal to boot. She made a point of coming mid-afternoon to avoid the lunch time crush. Looking around she smiled. Oh yeah, she liked coming here, and she didn't read the menu. Nope. She was going to let the cook surpise her!

Now all she needed was her dinner guest..

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah's on her own, thankfully. No band trailing her in this time. Tour's on hold.. In she comes in her rooftop workout gear and smiles. Oh she likes this place. Chinese food, check. Cheap? Yes, great food? Yes, yes. Dinah's not picky really. And she's here to catch up with Skye. Given Dinah lives with Babs...well...Dinah's knowing two computer geniuses.

So geniuse across the table and dumplings and things. Excellent, as Dinah strolls over and slips into a chair and runs a hand through hr hair moving it back behind her ears, and grins.

Quake has posed:
Skye grins as she's 'found'. Where she's picked, there isn't a huge chance of them getting found out. Plus the food, good lord, is the food good!

"Hey! You found it. It's such a hole in the wall, but it's great. They take your order it chinese. It's so weird. I always get the chef's special. He kinda likes me." She grins. "So.. how are you doing. Fitting in?"

Black Canary has posed:
"Aw" Dinah grins, "I'll just get what looks good honestly. Ah I'm good, on a break from band stuff, you know? I swear, I have to be a den mother to those guys more than I should. I think they just need to look after themselves while I'm here" Dinah jokes. "Seriously though, good people. You are too. I'm fitting in, insomuch as I can in this part of the world. How's things with you?"

Fair question, as Dinah peruses the menu, tapping her finger on a few items. Egg chow mein, some battered chicken balls, the chef's special. That last one wins out.

"I'll go for the chef's special" Dinah declares and looks pleased. "Is the green tea any good? And hole in the wall" she admits waving a hand. "Are hands down, the single best eateries in any given place. It's...well, the food's better, the people know how to make it right. None of this fancy linen cloth silverware. I'll take a hole in the wall with good company any day" Dinah nods keenly and flips the menu over, glancing over it a few times. "I'm dreading what Babs is going to do for Christmas though. I've yet to see what she's done with the apartment, or, God, the tower itself. If the clock tower is lit up I'm not sure if I'll laugh or not. You got your place decorated? I've some left over lights if you'd like them for next year? It'll save me having to use them for a video"

Because A&B Records haven't, this time, made her do a Christmas video. Just rereleases of old material. The tour for their upcoming single's resuming in January. Thankfully.

Quake has posed:
Skye takes the moment to order, in Cantonese (don't get excited, she's been here enough!), and hands off the menus. "Yep, the green tea is wonderful. They'll bring it in a sec. I should explain, my chef's special is extra special." She grins. "We are taking our chances, and we won't be getting the same. Whatever he happens to try is what you get. Trust me."

Skye listens to the rest. "In January? Will you be very long, or are you taking a break at regular intervals? "

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah giggles and orders as well in her smattering of Cantonese, as she nods keenly and nods.

"So basically, we asked essentially, surprise me" Dinah offers and isn't regretting this. Not at all, see, whatever Dinah gets, she'll eat. Okay maybe she'll only eat once, but...but...

"The tour? From January? Yeah we take breaks every few weeks, it's here, Bloodhaven, Metropolis, and Gotham to end things off. That's over six weeks so we get time to unwind between shows" Dinah grins. "I'm amused though. I'd have figured you'd have found out already" she adds tapping her nose, and nods. Computer genius and all that.

"See, I can play a killer guitar riff then arrange flowers then kick butt. I'm that talented, but" Dinah smiles and nods, just waiting.

"So, what've you been up to? I didn't bring any flowers sadly. I can't figure out how flowers would fit in this place mind."

Quake has posed:
Skye quirks a brow, amused. "So you can too, I see." About the ordering, and because they both ordered in Cantonese, they didn't bring the cutlery, only chopsticks. As almost immediately after, the green tea.

"I try not to spy on my friend!" Skye sticks her tongue out. "But it sounds good." She had a little laugh at Dinah's joke. "Maybe I'll try to get out for a show. I mean, if I can break myself away from the computer long enough."

Black Canary has posed:
"You just heard the limit of my Cantonese. And how difficult it is for me" Dinah protests and laughs softly and nods. Chopsticks are fine, Dinah's not going to stab herself with them. Or turn them into a weapon, either if anyone starts trouble. Nope. She's here to enjoy herself, eat good food, and hang out with Skye.

"Yes, yes, you do need to come see us. I promise not to drag you on stage. Pinkie swear" Dinah giggles. Oh, she can just see it in her mind's eye now. Skye on stage. That's not one of her better ideas...hence why she shut that idea down quickly.

"So, the chef and staff are Cantonese yes?" Dinah asks, she's totally thinking of taking a course in it if she's going to eat here more often.Or ask Skye to order for her, or something. See. Dinah's able to speak a little of it. Just enough to be trouble but...but...

"Though, we're rock and metal mostly, if that's a problem we can put mufflers on the guitars and hand out earmuffs" Dinah speculates. "Oh" she adds snapping her fingers. "Ashes on Sunday earmuffs. Yes. Why's that not something we sell at shows?" she asks, and glances around. "Somehow, I'm exciteable even without coffee" Dinah nods carefully, "It's the snow, and the food, and the company, and not being caged up in a hotel room that's got me all excited, and that I don't have to go on staage for a few days and I can just relax"

Quake has posed:
"Something tells me that you are not to be trusted!" Skye laughs. "I mean, I think I do okay, but not that ok, if you know what I mean!"

It isn't very long before their meals come out, and true to Skye's word, they are different.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah laughs and glances at her meal, nodding and isn' sure what she ordered, with her little but useful smattering of Chinese wording. She laughs gently and smiles. "Oh, no, I won't bring you on stage, not lying" she giggles. "I'm not to be trusted? How dare you"

She's lost in fits of giggling, not mad at Skye at all. She smirks and picks up her chopsticks with a grin, silently giggling while she carefully slides chopsticks into her order

Which is definitely edible, definitely food as Dinah inspects what she's got between chopsticks and debates on eating it now or listening to Skye. Second one wins out.

"You're good with music and you sing? Or you do the computer side of things. Which is, let's face it, the big bit of music now" she says with a knowing nod and decides okay, time to start eating. No matter what it is, Dinah's pleased. Now, where's that green tea?

Quake has posed:
"We.. Clint and I.. have this video game where we sang. Much More Music 20, I think? Every year we were together we bought the new one, and sang it to each other. You know, they play the music, you supply the voice?"

Skye digs into her food. She's really good with those chopsticks. You could almost picture her using them in a pinch as a spy.

Black Canary has posed:
"Letting me play that is cheating, I sing for a side job" Dinah admits with a knowing smirk as she watches Skye and the chopsticks. Which yes, Dinah can picture Skye indeed using them as a weapon, which is....both worrying a little, and amazing.

Dinah though is neat with her chopsticks, yes...but not near Skye levels of neatness or improvizing.

Though really. She can just scream, does she really need chopsticks?

Quake has posed:
"I don't mind. Actually almost all of us have a secondary skill. Mind you, sometimes it's really small. Like May does an awesome chinese dumplings. Me? No. Although I make decent ramen from scratch, including noodles. Really!" Skye breaks out laughing.

Black Canary has posed:
"Ramen. Noodles?" Dinah asks with a smirk. "Alright, you, me, and Babs are going to have to go on a cooking course" Dinah decides. Because, Barbara Gordon can cook. Thanksgiving proved that one. "You know, I don't eat home made noodles often enough" Dinah nods and digs her chopsticks back in. "They as good as people think, or bad as they say? Oh come on, May's dish sounds great, but..."

Dinah pauses to eat what's in her chopsticks and she's quiet while eating.

Quake has posed:
"Trust me, May's is the bomb. We called them 'crack'. Sex in your mouth." Skye is very serious about this. "I must warn you, I took a beginners intro to cooking, and I was the only person in my course, and I still couldn't make heads nor tails of it. The ramen? It was my present to myself in China. We were having a break after my.. you know. Work."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah's trying to eat and not lose it laughing at Skye's description. "I...I have questions, and I'm not sure I want to know why" she says between giggles, the food kind of, nearly forgotten as she calms down and chews on another chopstick's worth of...whatever she ordered. Chef's special. It's definitely good.

"Your work definitely isn't boring. I've no riveting stories from the world of being a simple florist or singer. I don't even have any wild touring stories" Dinah says, trying her best to look innocent. Oh, Dinah /does/ have stories, but...but...hey, she doesn't want to out herself as a vigilante, and the rest of her stories are, by comparison...boring. Not even any wild rock star antics. She's responsible, she's a mother figure to her band and looks out for them when they get rowdy.

Quake has posed:
Skye laughs. "For one, I'm used to computers. Not much exciting about that! I'm sure your regular job is more than adequate. And what about your other job, hrm?"

"I'm doing a little more on the job lately, you know.." She makes her arm pretend to 'quake'. "It's not bad."

Black Canary has posed:
"What, flowers?" Dinah grins and looks pleased. "I'm good at throwing together flowers and singing songs, apparently. So" Dinah muses and slides more food into her mouth, nodding.

"My other job, it's quiet eally. I've not run into too much trouble, really. That's the thing. It's too quiet. Not that I want to un into trouble yet, but...but..."

Really, Dinah doesn't want to suddenly end up in trouble. But her vigilante occupapation has been going quietly, unlike, say, her flower business or band career. Ah, she's got down time. Which is, well, rare.

Quake has posed:
"True! You've got that job too!" Skye nods, and she frowns. "I know. It's been quiet."

Black Canary has posed:
"Too quiet" Dinah sighs, "Not that I'm tempting fate, but...but...you know. It's too quiet. I mean" Dinah admits with a knowing smile. "Let's see..."

Dinah falls quiet gathering her thoughts. "So, it's not that bad when it'ss this quiet, honestly. I'm just a little worried really. It's like...well...it's like, okay, it's quiet, so, we need to keep our guard up"

With that Dinah twirls her chopsticks and digs into rice and veggies, chewing on them while listening.

Quake has posed:
"Me? I worry. I mean, without my job, it's boring. You know? But, there are lots of jobs waiting on the interwebs, just, different jobs. I guess SHIELD has spoiled me."

She finishes up her plate. "Next week, again? Two weeks?"

Black Canary has posed:
"Next week" Dinah nods, "Or, come to the clock tower, and bring...something" she grins. Dinah's not going to say bring this or this. It's more a hey, Skye's brouht things. "Babs doesn't bite, really. Plus she makes a great roomate" Dinah nods keenly and smiles, reaching into her pocket for money to split the bill
