Cast of Characters: Hawkeye (Barton), Quake

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Special SHIELD agents Skye Johnson and Clint Barton are back from a successful mission in the Czech Republic, where Skye was the main part of the action, by using her special power and quaking up - literally - a whole bunch of AIM creeps.

The mission was a success, but it left Skye with a case of hurting arms that Clint wants to take care of. Not much he can do, though, other than worry. Right now, they are seated on the couch in the living room, cats Grant and Ward being confined to the other couch.

"Skye, if you take more painkillers, I'm afraid it won't be only the pain that will be killed."

Quake has posed:
Skye was glad to be home, and was lounging upon the larger couch. "I know, I know. The Bobbsey Twins were adamant 'Take two of these every six hours, for a week' and Tylenol as needed. I'd forgotten how much this could hurt, especially when I hadn't been practicing."

She stretches, and *gently* outstretched her arms to where they began to hurt. "Ugh. I'll be better tomorrow." She hopes. "It's now official, I guess. Quake. Funny, you picked the name I'm using with The Birds." She laughed.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
For a moment, Clint frowns, not happy about the hurting. It's not worth it if quaking induces days of pain.

"Well, Quake sounds better than Tremors, don't ya think?" He's trying to joke, maybe to hide his concern.

"And you are off the hook from work and household chores for at least a weak. I'll take care of the cats' box. Don't worry... well, don't worry too much!"

He then stands, and turns toward the kitchen area, "I'll get us coffee. Tell me, what kind of practice would you need? Large scale? How often? What kind of land mass? What you did to these peeps was awesome, serious, dang impressive."

Quake has posed:
"Damn, Tremors. I should have thought of that!" The way Skye says it she could be thinking about it for certain. "Probably the mondo cup. I feel in need." As for the cat boxes.. "Thanks for making sure they are done. Else wise we'll be waking up to goodies, and I don't mean the nice kind, in our shoes. Or worse!"

She settles back and thinks about it. "I think I just made it too strong?" As if. "It's not really like I can practice in the same conditions as where I was. We really can't use.. well.. for example, I've practiced closer, but I usually don't on mountains. Yet I know I can do it. You know?"

When he talks about the devastation, she pauses and smirks at him. "Really? I mean, it was pretty darn cool!"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Cool? Shit babe, it was crazy, did you see the faces of these creeps? They never knew what hit them!" Clint replies, walking to the kitchen area, returning a few minutes later with two cups of coffee. He places one on the table closest to Skye, not wanting to force her to take it if she doesn't feel comfortable right then.

Sitting back down, he places his feet on the coffee table. "Yes, mountains. We need to find some mountain, where no one would notice a lil' quake... Surely with the Quinjet, we can find one where you could practice. We'll have to check what SHIELD can suggest."

And then, again, a frow appears on his face, as he worries, "But are you sure that more practice will help, or wouldn't it make it worst, I mean, the pain and all?"

Quake has posed:
She laughs. "It was kinda cool. Mind you I was only getting one chance to surprise than. Next time I'll be an immediate target, so there is that. If only they knew how much pain afterwards." She grimaces.

Her cup was taken very carefully, and held within both hands. "Well, the thing with practice it should make it better, but, and it's a big but Hotshot, in order to focus down my abilities, it's going to be harder the longer I do it, or the amount or precision. Usually I only ache a little bit. It's like Jemma tried to explain to me, eventually you can't prepare your body for everything, but you can make it less."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint listens to the explanation, trying to understand something without actually feeling it himself, which is never easy. It's a bit like talking about colours to someone who is blind.

"What I'd like, is for you to train as you want, but I'm a bit worried about the aftershocks, s'cuse the pun. Do you think it's really worth the pain?"

Yes, Hawkeye is quite concerned about the pain induced by the use of her special ability, but clearly the decision is hers, there's no need to even mention it.

Quake has posed:
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that from you." Skye was very serious. "It's part of me. The only reason I don't hurt myself, and others, is practice. You can't tell me that you haven't practised to the point of pain to be better. You can't."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Touché!" Clint replies, and as often, Skye knows better. He can't really deny that she's right about it.

He sips some of his coffee, lost in toughts for a moment. Yeah, training did hurt, mostly the first years. Bloody fingers, aching arms. And now... well, now, it doesn't hurt anymore.

"OK, I mean, you know," he turns to look her in the eyes, "I /do/ care about you, kick me for not wanting any harm come your way."

Quake has posed:
"Every time you go out that door for the Avengers or SHIELD I bite my tongue so that I don't say something foolish. I have to trust your abilities to protect you and bring you home again." Skye doesn't bring up when he didn't come home at all. "It really sucks. But that's what I got for falling in love with you, instead of somebody like a banker."

She make a face.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Indeed, this is often the problem with Hawkeye, here one day, off somewhere the other day, risking his life along the Avengers or for SHIELD. So far, he managed to survive.

"But that's because I'm the best, and I come back everytime, with all my parts!" he replies, joking, attempting to lighten up the mood. But again, Skye has a point. And as usual, he will need some time to think about her take on it.

And then... up on his feet again! "You also got someone who will fix you dinner!" he grins, "Or go get something. What would you like?"

Quake has posed:
Clint just misses being hit with a pillow because her hands were otherwise busy. She would have done it too despite the pain.

"Oooo, that is horrible!" Skye laughs. "How about take out? Then you can take the evening off too?"
