Date of Scene: 28 June 2021
Location: Bow Valley because, Wynot
Synopsis: Helped by the bad weather, a change of plan and decision making
Cast of Characters: Hawkeye (Barton), Quake

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Travelling ad lib as they are, without any specific goal other than to get away from routine and trouble - Skye and Clint enjoyed a long drive that day. Both drove for four or five hours each, and now they were kind of tired. At that point there were well into Nebraska, and as soon as Clint spotted a place called Bow Valley on the map with a town nearby called Wynot, he could not resist.

Hopefully, there was some campground still available and after parking Gretel, it was time to start a bonfire.

As luck would have it, that is when the weather turned for the worst, first with very strong winds, then some rain droplets. Checking the clouds from his seated position at the wheel, Clint shakes his head.

"Not so sure for a tent tonight," he states, "Do we have a plan B? Gretel or motel?" That is, /if/ there is any motel close by.

Quake has posed:
Skye looks out at the increasingly bad weather. "Eww? It's muggy to boot. You do realize that there is no A/C in Gretel. Like zero."

She could barely afford keeping her in gas, let alone the other things that were extras. All her money went toward new computer gear, not things like A/C. And since she had begun to work for SHIELD and moved into real housing it slipped her mind. Ooops?

"You know, a hotel might be fun." A real bed. A hot bath. Room service..

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Quicklly checking on his half-broken Starkphone, Clint searches for a nearby motel or hotel, in vain. They really are in the middle of nowhere. And by the time they drive to the closest available place, it will be daytime.

"No A/C, check," Clint repeats, his eyes on the phone. "Hrm, fine with me. I'm always hot anyway, didn't you notice?"

Chuckling, Clint tossed his phone on the dashboard, stretching, "Ah heck, it's only a few droplets, we can even leave the windows open." Glancing at Skye, he adds, "Besides, hey, we're SHIELD agents, we've seen worst conditions." Yeah, he might have, not sure in Skye's case who usually is not operating in the field.

Quake has posed:
Skye looked at him. "This was my home for a long while. I used to know what streets they would kick me off of; which one I had to move by six am; where I was most likely to get my tires stolen." Or worse. "Trust me I know worse."

le sigh!

Even if she wanted to, he was really right. Their money was getting low, even with the credit cards. "Guess we're stuck." She smiles a smug smile. "Bass Fishing?" Which was only a joke after the other day.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Let's start with priorities," Clint says as he finally unbuckles his seatbelt. Yes, they will stay there for the night. "Food first. Then maybe Bass Fishing. But on top of it all, I need to take a leak." As he mentions this priority of his, he opens the door of the van, and exits. There is only a few droplets, nothing to get wet.

Is he wary of being caught again and be charged for indecent exposure? In any case, Clint jogs to the limit of their campground site to relieve himself. Such is his luck, really, that just at this moment the heavens open up and rain starts to fall. No, it doesn't fall, it pours! Thunder can be heard in the background, approaching.

Soon the archer returns to the van, jumping on the seat, utterly drenched, water trickling down on his face and probably splashing a bit on Skye ashe closes the door.

"That was interesting," he comments in a low voice, a smirk on his face. "Next time, I'll bring soap."

Quake has posed:
At first she laughs, and then she begins to think. "Hey!" Really he could take a leak standing in Gretel. Not her. And worse, *now* she has to, just as the heavens opened up. "Damn. Should I wait?"

"Wait. Since you're already wet, can I borrow you to block the rain?" Skye pouts. "Pleeeeease?" She wasn't very good at pouting. Usually she managed on her own, regardless of the suggestion to take a helping hand.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
When you have to go, you have to go! Seeing that he's all drenched already, and being a good sport, Clint nods and reaches for his leather jacket behind his seat, and moves to the large side door of the van, opening it. Standing in the rain, and holding his jacket as a makeshift shelter, he grins.

"You can be such a baby," he laughs, "You realize how lucky you are to have me, and, that I don't have to write an AAR 'bout it?"

Behind him, the sky is getting quite dark, and not only due to night coming. The sky is crisscrossed by lighting. Contrary to what one could expect, the thunderstorm is not bringing cooler air, and the weather remains warm.

Quake has posed:
"Ha-ha." She didn't laugh. The weather wasn't helping much, and by the time she had made it to the treeline she was soaked, despite Clint's 'protection'. It gets worse before she was done.

Still, the treeline was slightly drier than the long walk back to the van. (Really, it wasn't a vast distance, but the rain made it so it feels like 2 or 3 times the distance.)

"I'm not a baby!" Skye protests with a laugh. "Just you were already wet." Not that it made a difference when the clouds opened up. She still hadn't made up her mind whether to stay where she was, hoping that it would stop pouring it a minute, or to run for Gretel.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
And yes, she is right and he's drenched. No need for him to worry about being wet! That said, aware of her dilemma, he hands her the leather jacket, "There, take it."

And so he walks back, uncaring for the rain, leaving Skye to follow him at her leisure. Actually, the rain is almost refreshing, and he decides to remove his T-Shirt. For a moment, the archer is almost tempted to just stay there, in the rain, but this would not be pleasant for long.

Once reaching the side of the van, he sits on the floor, his legs out in the rain, and tries to squeeze the water out of his T-Shirt.

"Next priority, food. We /should/ have stopped to buy something. I think we still have hot-dogs buns," he states, "And some beef jerky. Pop-corn, did we eat it all yet?"

Quake has posed:
Too bad they are not in Ontario! Skye could have joined him with her top off. As it happened she was soaked, down to the core, soaked. Even his jacket didn't do any good. By the time she'd gone to the van she stepped out of the clothes and put them in a little pile, and put on one of the t-shirts that were Clint's.

"I think you ate that popcorn when I had my last turn of driving. I believe you said it was the last last you would make me drive before noon. Do you like?" Skye grins as she shows off his top.

As for supper, jerky and hotdog buns..

"We really need to fill up on food.." ie chocolate bars "..next time we stop for gas."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
He has to admit, his black T-shirt with the large purple target sign on the front really fits her well, even if it's obviously too large.

"Everything looks good on you," he comments, "Still, nothing on you looks even better." He chuckles at that, removing his jeans, and tossing his drenched t-shirt over Skye's discarded clothes in the corner.

Right, they don't have much food left. No more popcorn. /Now/ they are in a dire predicament. As for water, at least this is not a problem.

"Hrm, I wonder if Uber could deliver here? Whatya think?" Chances being as they are, no, there will be no delivery possible here in the boonies.

Quake has posed:
"As if." Skye did not think they would qualify for Skip the Dishes. "Who's idea was this anyways?" She had to laugh. It was Clint, of course. For vacation, in Gretel, she'd still wander the streets of New York. "I'm sure we can make it till morning, and have a nice breakfast as some roadside diner."

"Maybe we should do some laundry while we are at it."

She does like the target t-shirt. Maybe it would make it onto her side of the drawers next time!

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Right," Clint almost sighs, thinking it was a good thing he was a SHIELD agent, and not a travel agent. Maybe next time, a lil' more planification in advance wouldn't hurt.

His jeans follow on top of the pile of discarded clothes, and he grabs a pair of shorts - always wary that some Park Ranger decided to drop by!

That done, the archer lies down on the not so large makeshift bed, stretching, "Yeah. And listen to this," He pauses, listening to the calming sound of the rain on the van roof. "Almost romantic."

And as luck would have it, that is exactly when a mighty hail starts falling, the frozen pellets hitting the van with a deafening force.

Quake has posed:
Skye watched him peel off his jeans, and put on his black shorts. Very nice! "Not so much in the planning, it's actually been fun. But even I noticed the lack of food on out parts."

For Skye to notice, it has to have been bad.

Still, she snugs up to him on the makeshift bed. "You know, we shouldn't have put those clothes on if we were going to take them off right away.."

Oh yes, she follows his brain, and agree with him!

Except the weather has other things in mind. "What the--"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint replies with a chuckle to Skye's comment on wearing clothes, as he makes room for her on the not so large bed. After all, it is in a van, and was meant for one person.

The sound of the hail on the top of the can is so loud, it is even hard for them to hear each other. But then, there is another sound, that one coming from Clint's empty stomach.

"Alright, Keyboard," he says, barely refraining from laughing, "Either we stay here and find /something to do/, or we get the hell out of here, find food and a room. Your pick."

Quake has posed:
"Much as I would like to fool around.." Yeah, it would be so much better with the doors closed, and keeping the weather out where it belongs. Skye gives him a kiss. "Room service?"
