Date of Scene: 31 August 2023
Location: Lucifer's Penthouse, Melville
Synopsis: Sinister and Clark.
Cast of Characters: Sinister, Superman

Sinister has posed:
Superman can hear a disaster from half way across the world. He's renowned for it. But can he see a smoke signal in the clouds? That's what mannifested over the tower of Lux tonight -- high in the clouds up above, the cumulus and stratus clouds were teased with vapour trails in the synonymous 'S' in its breastplate shape. It lasted quite a bit longer than cloud vapour -usually- does and hopefully, it did the trick.

The balcony of Lux is lit by NYC in the distance. The glitter and glitz of the city that never sleeps shines on the darkened penthouse.

Though it's not empty. Sinister stands on the railing, feet squared and hands tucked in the small of his back, gazing up a the night sky with narrowed eyes. Is he searching for the bird? The plane? Or seeing something beyond in the ever sparkling glimmer of universe? His eyes are their vivid red, the diamond in the middle of his forehead glows slightly, illuminating his cheekbones.
Superman has posed:
Superman does see the clouds change. It may not be -right- away. However, a giant 'S' stays too long. He'll float down to look for the source. Then he spots someone kind of familiar on a Balcony, "How are you?" Superman waves and he waits to hear of bad news. Sky blue eyes look toward him. "How are you doing Mister Essix," he says sotly and just knows now is the time to get surprised by something.
Sinister has posed:
There is a smile on the face of Doctor Essex, though it's a mild one; polite, gracious, but ultimately subdued. "I had a feeling that might get your attention," he angles his head to the now dissipating 'S' in the sky. "I no longer have the watch, obviously. I didn't know quite how to call you elsewise..."

The gaze that had brought itself back down at the arrival of Superman, looks back up to the heavens again. "I have been a busy fellow, which I suspect should not surprise you. Well, for the most part... but this wasn't just a pleasure call, of course." He scans the stars for another couple of heartbeats, then looks back to the man of Steel.

"I am sure you have your own judgements about me, but I have been honest in my intentions and information from the beginning with you and have no intention of changing that now..." he prefaces "...there's going to be quite a lot of information surpression in the next year or so. There's a comet heading toward us, quite directly I'm afraid."
Superman has posed:
Sky blue eyes stare at Nathaniel Essex. This particular pair haven't met in a while. It feels like Nathan gives out a cliff notes version of what has happened, minus some details, between then and now. Landing upon the balcony. "Should I be concerned with these busy actions, Doctor Essex?" he asks with concern in his voice. There's no distrust, but this speech des have overlap between various speeches he has heard over the years.

"How far out is the comet? How do you know. Out of everything this place keeps hidden, I can't see a satellite hidden in this club. Feels a little to hard to do without being noticed," it's just simple fact. Owning a private satellite system, without turning heads, would take someone like Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne. And so, Superman leans into some reporters instincts. Trying to learn more about a situation efore askng more questions.
Sinister has posed:
"Oh, I own several private satellites, a space station, deep space exploration vessels, though I don't really have need of them on a personal level -- and telescopes. But this has to do with predictable, mathematically calculated orbits. There's dozens of comets that whizz through our solar system, but ancient and modern predicators and calculation techniques will confirm it, if you actually want to poke. The Apophis meteor, which has a long and eccentric orbit, is coming back. It isn't just going to pass within a few thousand miles, it's coming more or less straight for us." He untucks a hand from the small of his back to wave that off. "With a planet full of superbeings though, one comet isn't usually that much of a big deal. But this one, I need to let you know about, because guarding against it, might be far more complicated than anything normal." He sighs a little at this.

"Tell me, are you much of a historian? Cryptologist? Archaeologist? Antiquarian perhaps? I don't know, it's hardly as if Times magazine does biopics on your personal life and I'm sure that's for very good reason."
Superman has posed:
There's a genuine pause from Superman. "How?" Normally people that own hardware like that are Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne, Lex Luthor, etc. Nathaniel Essex is a bit harde to track down. Less notoriety. Somehow he navigated through a lot of hoops to be equally poised as the others. It doesn't disturb Superman, but it alarms him.

"I've studied a variety of subjects. Tell me," the words are firm yet soft. Just letting Nathaniel know that he could use technical jargn and it wouldn't be lost on Superman. He holds what -exactly- he knows close to the chest though.
Sinister has posed:
"I'm quite well established, my fine strapping friend. I just don't like the limelight, unlike Stark or Wayne enterprises. Part of their revenue and influence comes from public perception and awareness. I don't blow the same trumpets... but I'm no less financially savvy." Real estate, patents, medical knowledge and technology that he has no use for, military applications, cyber applications, the list goes on and on, mostly into black ops territory, in truth.

But that's all he says. Whether Clark does digging when he's back in disguise, is up to him.

"Do you understand string theory and the concept of parallel dimensional energies and quantum entanglement?" well, he said, Nathaniel supplied.
Superman has posed:
Something about that is unsettliing. Superman has never connected dots of how certain adversaries, especially those in government, get certain intel. He does wonder if the missing peice of that puzzle has shown up or not.

He'll pursue that avenue later. Right now, it's about what's going to hit Earth. "Yes. I do," he says honestly on that one. Yes, Superman is aware of parallel universes, energies and a lot of subjects dealing with time travel, mutliverse and similar.
Sinister has posed:
"Well, the Apophis meteor disappears periodically in its eccentric orbit, dipping into subspace. Where it goes isn't easily tracked, but I keep picking it up when it re-emerges. It gets saturated with a type of energy that's entropic in nature when it goes to wherever it goes -- anathema to life itself. And that energy is quantum entangled. Everything touched -by- that energy is connected by it and a few hero types on Earth have already come into contact with it." Sinister explains this quietly, but seriously. "About three thousand or so years ago, when it was on a similar trajectory to come close to earth and far fewer heros were around to deflect it, the gods of Egypt diverted its path, but not without cracking off a portion of it, which came crashing down into the desert near Ethiopia. There's a region there that's perpetually known as the Gateway to Hell because of it."

He lets all that sink in. "I've been doing a little research with the Mystical types of the world, including the sorceror supreme and it's popped up in spots of history recorded in the mystic scrolls once or twice -- it always heralds doom and destruction, to one degree or another. But... because there's parts of it here on earth, because people have interacted with it, all the energy resonates together and it..." he pauses "...or rather what it drags with it from the subspace dimension it goes to... can home in on all energy that it has emitted."

He pauses again. "because of the Quantum entanglement. So it cannot simply be destroyed in a by-your-leave kind of way. This may take more strategy than simply one solid boom."
Superman has posed:
"And we cannot use someone that has the ability to create portals to send the Asteroid away?" Superman poses thinks it's a matter of energy. Either all of the energies building on the asteroid would make it smewhat impervious to the portal or the energy can harm the portal wielder. That person could die, lose concentration or many other situations that involve the Asteriod not slowing down to various degrees. All still do damge to the world though.

"There has to be a way we can somehow move the asteroid. What about Zeta beams?" he poses knowng that's an energy in the stars. Typically used for teleportation. They could weaponize it. Positioning the satellites in the right spot at the right moment. That's the difficulty with those options.

"And we can't track it in the other world because the realm may follow dfferent rules of Science, the energies may destroy any of Earth's tracking devices. Scenario after scenario goes through his head as he tries to figure out a good happy medium solution, if it's available. Right now, he's just trying to plot out all the ways they coudl maybe track or divert the lans. Yes, they will all fell apart, but maybe he's trying to figure out a baseline that could be tweaked. Honestly, he's not quite grasping at straws, but learning the limits of what is about to hapen.
Sinister has posed:
"We still have time, is the good news, Superman. And with that, I'm not the only one working on this. But I wanted to outsource to a name that garners respect in many different circles, also." Sinister caveats the doom with a bit of not quite so doomly news. "But you are correct. This is a risky proposition to be testing any theories on, which is the problem. Anything done to a large object with dangerous potential, in deep space, you have to get it right the first time, or you will screw things up further. I've..." he pauses here again "...been working on seeing if I can create a device that allows parallel remote viewing. The trick will be figuring out how to target a certain probability, so that the parallel can be properly viewed. /And/ in the same vein, what methodology of AU remote observation is liable to be the least complicated to harness. It's challenging."
Superman has posed:
"How much tme do we have, presuming it just maintains everything right nwo or from a simialr state," Superman isn't sure if the objet has changed between reality changes or standard passage through space. He wants to be sure to understand the time table. Right now, it feels like there isn't one. This could help them talking with certain folks. There's a plan whirling in his head, which he will address shortly.
Sinister has posed:
"Some time next year, if my calculations are correct. Other calculations might vary a little, here or there. But the timeline is confined in a simplified manner to about one solar calendar year. It's currently in subspace, I can't tell you for absolute sure when it will re-emerge, but I lost it on the telescope." Sinister replies this, turning himself sidelong to lean against the balcony railing, giving Superman his full on attention.

"Do you have an idea you care to share?"
