Patrol Rendezvous
Date of Scene: 09 November 2017
Location: Rooftops, Gotham
Synopsis: Green Lantern makes a Gotham fly-by and catches Batgirl on a roof.
Cast of Characters: Green Lantern (Jordan), Oracle

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
It was twilight. The darkness has engulfed the city, and the people of the night were starting their nightly happenings. The city never slept, however, and this time, there was a noticeable green light moving across the skyline. The green light of a Green Lantern. A rare sight in Gotham.

Moving above the city of Gotham was one Hal Jordan. Having just finished a great last few days "on vacation" in the vicinity, Hal was heading out of the city, towards the southern part of the eastern sea board. Home. Moving at a leisurely pace, his thoughts were of the Wayne party the other ngith, and the happenings there.

Oracle has posed:
It looks like her evening patrol is going to be a bit more unusual than most nights. A jump line carries her past the gothic structure of the old train station and for anyone who has never seen one of the Bat-people fly, it might actually be an utterly terrifying sight as she reaches the apex of her swing and fires off a second line. She doesn't transfer from one to the next QUITE as easily as Spider-Man... or Nightwing... but there's a grace of motion to her release-and-catch. The second line brings her to the top of one of the city's banks.
The Green Flash at Sunset is a phenomenon only seen in the South Pacific, so far as Batgirl is aware. So the sight of him streaking across the sky of Gotham is something of a surprise. Plus, this makes twice in one week that he's been to Gotham. And given that she swung straight through his line of sight, she figures he can't miss her. So if he's looking for a Bat to speak to, well... she's given him a good spot to land up on this bank.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan does, indeed, see the figure silouetted against the blackness of the night, and the lights of the city which were slowly waking up. Willing the ring to move closer to check out the feminine figure, Hal nods, noting the "Batsuit" <trademark>.

Hovering nearby as Barbara lands on the top of the Bank, Hal moves slowly forward, knowing better than to move towards one of these "Batpeople" quickly. AFter all, those "Batarang" things hurt.

The darkness still hid her identity from him, but Hal decides to press forward with a grin, and a quick comment. "Wonderful night for a stroll."

Oracle has posed:
"Indeed," Batgirl replies. She clearly won't be chucking batarangs at him. "Are you simply out enjoying the moonlight this evening?" She doesn't skimp on the words -- the Bat himself is occasionally monosyllabic even. But clearly the feminine version doesn't feel that need. "It's getting more common to see powered folks drop on by, but still not quite the norm for me." Oh God, did she actually even SMILE?? Do Bats *do* that??
"You can put your feet on the rooftop, if you like," Batgirl invites him. "I'm not going to wait for you to land and then pounce or anything."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hovering there, the green light from the energy shield around his body giving them both an eerie glow, Hal crosses his arms across his chest, and looks down at Batgirl. Noticing that that was making him a target, and this was Gotham, Hal decides to land nearby, and turns off the energy nimbus with a flick of his will.

"Thanks. I will do just that." Hal says with a quip, "Thanks for the suggestion. I'd hate to get fired upon by Two Face, or the Squirrel, or whatever villain is Bats "villain-of-the-week"." Hal says, with a non-chalant attitude. "I am heading home actually. Had enough of Gotham for this year." Hal smiles, and says, "You?"

Oracle has posed:
Batgirl nods sagely when he comments on the villain of the week. "You definitely should not make a target of yourself up here." Looking around at the rooftop, she quips lightly, "Well... given that it's my city and my rooftop... you know. I'm just doing my thing." There's a faint shrug. "Got a few gang problems between the Ukrainians and the Russians in the north corridor, so making sure the Tong are staying out of it."
There's a long pause, and then she smiles faintly. "Well, actually, that's why I was wondering what you were doing here... this makes twice in a week, with the Wayne gala." Batgirl moves toward the side of the building to look downward at something, and for a moment it looks like she might be readying for a launch off the building. Then she pivots on her heels, shaking a lock of copper hair back over her shoulder absently. "I couldn't help but be amused at the arrival of such an august personage as yourself among the guest list. I expected Ms. Prince, of course, but... you, that didn't seem like your scene."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Looking around at the city, Hal takes it all in, and then returns his attention back to the masked woman in front of him. "Yeah. A big green glowing ball of me is too tempting around here." Hal grins. "Gang problems huh? Must be tough with all the crime, drugs, and organized...crime, in the city." Hal shrugs. "Makes it tough for you guys up here in Gotham."

Hal walks a few paces forward, and sits down on the ledge. Leaning back towards Babs, Hal says, "Ah yes! The Wayne Gala! I still think Bats was using me to be a distraction, while you all took care of that...issue. I would be offended, but I know better. It's Batman."

A pause. "Ha!" Hal smiles, and nods, "Yeah. It usually isn't. Diana asked me to help out. She has a...special way to get you to do just what she wants. And it was to help a friend out. He usually doesn't ask for help, he tells." Hal shrugs and says, "What were you doing there? Backup?"

Oracle has posed:
"Something like that, yes," Batgirl replies, amused. The grin she flashes him also flashes a dimple in her cheek, and she walks the line of the roof, her stance casual even in heels up here. It doesn't occur to her that her stance or her voice or even that dimpled grin might give her away -- she rarely has reason to interact in the mask with the same people she interacts with outside of it. "He always tells people. It's the way he is," she agrees. "But there are reasons for it. Are you following up on the weapon that was recovered?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"I see, I see. Interesting. Huh. Not really. Weapons were recovered?" Hal takes a long look at Batgirl, admiring her and her strength of will. Doing this, every day, without any real backup or defenses. Just herself, her tools, her body, and her will. Impressive.

Hal watches her, the way she moves, and the way she talks. The way she looks, and the way she...ah. Recognition? "It is a little below my paygrade."

Hal laughs and says, "I'm more worried about the big fish, not the little fish. I am sure you and your team will be able to handle it. If you get in over your head, feel free to give me a call." Hal winks at her, which, because of his mask, didn't have exactly the same effect he was going for.

Oracle has posed:
Batgirl makes a sound that is distinctly disgusted. "Parademon weapon," she tells him. It's something that really should worry all of them. "The black market for them is getting more and more lucrative." She frowns for a long moment, following something in her own train of thought. And then her eyes flicker up to his face again. "I don't ever get in over my head," she informs him with that hint of a dimple again. It's a *huge* lie -- even he has to know that.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan blinks, and pauses for a moment. "Parademon weapon. That is serious." Hal stands up, and places his hands on his hips. "Glad you guys took care of it..." Hal pauses, and regards her thoughtfully. "...you did take care of it right? I haven't seen any fall out from someone getting their hands on that advanced tech. Yet."

A short pause. A nod. Then back to his charming, disarming smile. "Of course you don't Batgirl. I am sure you NEVER get in over your head." Hal's voice was a tinge sarcastic. And amused. "Look kid, even I have gotten in over my head too many times. I was lucky to have teammates that helped me out of the jams I got myself in...and vice versa. Including Batman."

Hal isn't very specific about who got whom out of trouble. It was implied. "Anyway. If you ever need my help, I can be there. Anytime. Anywhere. Especially for a red head." Hal grins.

Oracle has posed:
Yeah, Batgirl rather thought *that* might get his attention. And she tilts her head slightly, narrowing her eyes. "You know.... I take his assessments of people with a grain of salt. 'Below your pay grade' and 'kid,' however.... if you weren't *trying* to be offensive, let me be the first to inform you that cocky doesn't fly with those of us who kick people's butts *without* the benefit of powered rings." There's a bit of an arctic chill to that tone; she has given it to test pilots as well. "But I'm sure if we ever come across something that's *up to* your pay grade, we'll call on you." Or not, her tone says.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"A grain of salt? I can appreciate that." Hal's hands remain on his hips. His eyes watch her, his smile growing wider, and wider as she continues her little "rant". Nodding respectfully, Hal says, "Good. You have a healthy set of brass..." Hal pauses, deciding to be more "PC" for a change, "...a back bone. I respect that. A lot."

Hal begins to float above the roof once more. "It's good to know someone here is looking after these people, Batgirl. They need you. And if you need me, please, do not hesitate calling. I'll be there." His cocky, fighter pilot smile disappears, replaced by a serious expression. "I mean it. I hate to have to go, but perhaps we can touch base again? You can fill me in on your investigation into these alien weapons finding their way into Gotham?"

Oracle has posed:
She's missing something. Barbara knows she is. As she watches him rise up off the roof, it's that smile that tells her she's definitely missing something. Nightwing gets that grin when he's trying to rile her up on purpose. But... to what end? Do all guys just like to see gingers get ticked off? Crossing her arms, she watches him with a skeptical gaze. And then he gets serious. It's a whole different tone.
"Sure," she replies, perhaps still a little wary of the change in attitude. "I'm sure that there will be a report filed with your lot up there. It's definitely a bigger problem than just Gotham."
