Welcome to the Madhouse
Date of Scene: 27 November 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: The President is dead, Coulson's back, Hawkeye has a cane. Nothing makes sense.
Cast of Characters: Hawkeye (Barton), Nick Fury, Phil Coulson, Quake

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
In the last 24hrs, the President has been shot, (apparently by the first lady) Magneto is in jail and some unknown being teleported into the Trisk and snatched Barton off to Hells' Kitchen, apparently healing his deafness and a number of his minor wounds.

So, you know, basically normal day at the office.

Clint has hitched a ride to the Odessey and enters the bridge, using a cane, apparently when your ears get healed by magic, there's some balance issues. Needless to say, he'll be riding a desk for a couple of days while he sorts that out. For now though, he's got his report of the encounter ready to submit to his bosses and is game to do what he can do deal with the whole President's been shot situation.

Nick Fury has posed:
General Nick Fury is standing in his customary spot on the bridge of the ODYSSEY, right in front of the Operations Consoles that were the nerve centre of the Helicarrier - and SHIELD. His eye scans the displays, up and down, left and right. His hands are clasped behind his back in the classic military "at ease" pose. He did NOT look happy. AT all.

Nick was currently wearing his SHIELD uniform, leather boots, two holsters with side arms, and beside him was a level 9 Agent, whispering in his ear. The dark-haired Assistant Director hands the Director a data pad, and stands up straight, waiting to be dismissed. Her eyes spot Coulson and Barton, and she nods, subtley.

Phil Coulson has posed:
Phil was on a well-earned vacation in the Tuscan mountains, far away from where any trouble should bother him, and then his phone went off. This is why Phil can not have nice things. Upon getting the first ride possible to the Helicarrier, the agent awaited the meeting with Clint and Fury, though he did manage to have proper attire on hand so that he is not just standing their in vacation clothes. "Barton, what happened to you?" Clearly he has not been read in fully on the most recent developments outside of the president being shot and Magneto's antics.

Quake has posed:
Skye has come along for the ride. Or, more to the point, as Clint's other set of legs. While he's still unsteady on his feet, and she's not assigned to more than prep for the Hydra attack, she's good to go on that front. Of course, she's not been briefed on this whole matter they're meeting on.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Seeing Fury and Phil and getting that nod from Maria, Clint makes his way up to the boss, but not before offering Phil a quick, "Long story," he says before adding "I thought you were on vacation," smiling as he says it. No vacation is ever safe from SHIELD. Approaching Fury, Clint casts a look to Skye, and then gives the boss a nod. "Greetings sir, having fun yet?"

Nick Fury has posed:
The Director nods, and turns to face the woman beside him. His voice could be overheard by the closest Agents...Johnson, Barton and Coulson. "Dammit, Hill, I told him that it was a bad idea. Why do they never listen to me? I am just the head of the World's leading espionage Agency?!? Let's ignore SHIELD's advice. Always a good thing...dammit!"

Several Agents around the bridge caught THAT bit of cussing from the Director. Assistant Director Maria Hill chimes in, her voice cold and emoitonless, firm and yet, supportive. "Sir, we know that the events from last night will play out, all over the World. Our Agents are ready to pick up the slack. Barton can fill you in more fully, sir." Her head nods towards him, no subtle nod this time. "I see Agents Coulson and Johnson here as well. Perhaps a de-briefing and plan of attack? I'll get below, and prep the Squad on their mission."

Fury sighs, nods, and waves Hill away. With a final nod, and a smile at Phil with a silent "welcome back", Maria Hill heads below decks.

"Agents Barton. Coulson. Johnson." Fury says, without looking their way. His eye is firmly on the data pad that Hill gave him. "What the hell...?" His chin moves towards Barton suddenly, as his head turns, and his eye finds him. "I am not having fun. Report. After all, we had to interrupt Agent Coulson's vacation."

Phil Coulson has posed:
"Emphasis on was," Phil notes to Clint and looks to the others, "Judging by the fact it was not in the memos I read on my way up, it is either good news, or the worst news." He frowns and relaxes his posture, "Let me know if I need to catch up on any other relevant details that were not in the memos."

Quake has posed:
Skye just shakes her head as Fury identifies the lot of them without turning. "Nice trick." Even if security probably gave a heads up.

She leans into Clint, whispering, "Oooo, someone is in fine form today. I'm so glad I tagged along. Just wish I'd stopped for popcorn." Which she may or may not be joking about.

"Hey, I'm just an innocent bystander today," she quips at Fury, holding up her hands to stave him off. Coulson gets a nod.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint gives Skye a look, "I hate you," he murmurs softly, before sighing and saying, "Enjoy the show."

"What part do you want me to report on, sir, the President getting shot? Or my being kidnapped by self-proclaimed angel?" Barton asks, the boss was understandably frustrated, but Clint never did know when to shut up. "The first one is more Nat's report to make, she was right in the thick of it, I was just on overwatch, then got pulled back to the Trisk to be duty officer while we called in everyone, even Phil here," he says chucking a nod Phil's way. "The second thing, that's more complicated. There was an intruder in the Trisk last night, a friendly, sort of, anyhow he wants a meeting with you about how to stop other beings from doing the same." The rest? Why he's walking with a cane? Brushed over for a time the Director is in less of a mood. "It's all in my report." He offers the pad to Fury.

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury nods, and listens to Barton chime in. His eye finds Coulson, and he nods. "Worst news." Fury shakes his head, and says, "Lady and gentlemen, it is our job to prevent what happened last night. We failed. So, that means, Agent Barton - since you were ground zero, you are in charge of sorting through this mess.

Fury pauses, for dramatic effect. Listening to Barton's report, Fury remains silent, not interrupting the man as he speaks. His expression doesn't change. His face remains impassive, locked in a very large frown. "I see." Fury says when Clint finishes. "I will meet with this...person as soon as possible." Fury takes the report.

His eye finds Skye for a moment, and he acknowledges her surrendur with a deeper frown. "Agent Barton. Coordinate with Agent Hill. She's briefing our counter intel-Agents now. Boots on the ground so-to-speak. The two of you..." Fury points to Johnson and Coulson, "Assist. Tag, yer it. Perfect timing."

Fury lowers his voice, and says, "Welcome back Agent Coulson. You've been missed. Keep an eye on him." Fury nods towards Barton with a slightly less deeper frown.

"I have to go brief the Vice...I mean, the President." Fury's sigh could be heard throughout the bridge, even over the sounds of the Agents all "hard at work" trying not to listen in on the conversation. Waving at the Helicarrier, Fury looks at the three Agents. "Try not to break her while I'm in my office?" With that, Fury shakes his head, and heads into his office, mumbling all the while under his breath.

Phil Coulson has posed:
"Ah, this is at least satisfactory for a reason to end my vacation early," Phil remarks and looks to Fury, "I understand, sir. Always keep one, if not two on him." He grins and looks to the others, "So what do you suggest, Barton? I will look over what I can again to get a better idea, but I am sure your insight will be better than what I will find."

Quake has posed:
Skye makes a 'I win' face at Clint. "I know," she grins back at him. "And I plan on it." Hells yeah, she plans on enjoying the show.

When Clint gets handed the great big ball of 'your mess to clean up' she snorts. She got her own ball. That's what happens when you actually do your job instead of cringing off in the background. Note to self, Skye: Skulk next time.

And, because it isn't her ball of crap to clean up, she's quiet for a change. Yes, she is too capable of being quiet and keeping her mouth shut. What? She can. Shut up. Quit laughing.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Well, shit. Clint says as he's got a big old ball of responsibility dropped in his lap. Yeah, Skye is just loving this he's sure, he doesn't even need to look.

Then, he just dives in. Spotting the news on one of the displays, he tells the agent by that screen to turn it up.

The sound comes on and Clint listens.

"Well shit," Clint says, the president was dead, and his assassin was a shapeshifter. Maybe after that they could search some haystacks with needles in them.

"Okay then, sounds like Darkholm is our priority, Phil, see if we can get some more info from the ground on DC, Skye, see if we can find anything net side, about this or where she might have gone, I mean, mutant shape shifter or not, she's got to have accounts, emails, whatever, she's been around awhile so there'll be some stuff to work with on file."

Quake has posed:
The President is WHAT?

"Woah, woah, woah... can we back this party truck on up a bit. When'd the fuck--uh.. The President.." (See, May: Skye filtered. That cuss wasn't fully finished. Just mostly finished) "When'd that happen?"

Though, more importantly, she heard her siren call in that mess: Accounts. Email. Whatever. If it existed in the ether of netspace, Skye would find it.

Though she does appreciate the humour of him bossing her around for once. "Oooo, takes charge. I think I like it." She pauses. "Not." but she nods. "On it. You gonna be okay here if I go and start up on that?"

It wasn't like she didn't have easy access to Clint on a regular basis to pepper him with her questions later..

And with all that said and done, she makes her exit for the moment. Besides, she's been itching to see what the systems on this tub looked like. Now she's got an excuse. Like she really needed an excuse.

Phil Coulson has posed:
"The President is indeed dead." Coulson frowns, "This certainly changes things. Though hopefully the new president is willing to keep us operating on similar, if not better terms, than we have with the government." Phil shakes his head, "Well, glad to know you got your hearing back. Saves from having to explain it to others, though hopefully your leg or whatever else is plaguing you also is quickly resolved." Skye gets a nod as well, "Catch you later."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
There were definitely some SHIELD agents that took the news harder than others. Frank Underwood was hardly anyone's idea of an ideal president, but he was THE president and people needed a moment to process. Clint wondered if he should say something but Hill saved him the trouble.

"We're all saddened by the loss of the President but if you're on this bridge, you don't have time for tears, that's a luxury we give others by doing our jobs. So, people, if you want to mourn the President, then do it by ensuring Ms. Darkholm spends the rest of her life in a cell."

Maria's speech over, Clint lifts a shoulder, he wasn't political, he didn't care much about who was president, and so the news of his death meant more about what he had to do than what he felt. It looked like Phil and Skye saw it the same way too.

He shoots Skye a smile and nod. "Yeah, Keyboard I'll try not to fall off the ship when you're gone," he teases before looking to Phil.

"One guy's as good as the next and given that Allen has to make finding Darkhome job one, I think we're going to do alright," Clint says to Phil, before nodding. "Yeah, the hearing thing, it's sort of weird, my leg though, it's fine, just that my inner ear changed when that guy healed me, I'm trying to find my balance again."

Phil Coulson has posed:
Phil processed it quickly, but mostly because he kind of kept it running in the back of his head. It'd be a problem later. "Ah, well, at least you should find it shortly. Or at least I hope so. Hard to shoot a bow with one hand on a cane." He snorts, "But I'll get what info I can and pass it on to you. We will have the obligatory giant funeral to deal with and/or do business at, so we have that going for us."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"That's what I'm hoping," Clint says about his balance. The cane joke gets a laugh. "Hard, but not impossible. If I get good maybe it can be my new act, Hawkeye the geriatric archer," a smile is given to Phil then. "And yeah, get on, what are you on a vacation or something?" he teases the agent before he nods, "And yeah, that too, do they serve food at those things, never sure."

Phil Coulson has posed:
"Officially I am on vacation until midnight. Though I will probably be filing to have it returned, later." Phil says dryly. He handwoobles, "They serve food, for VIPs, so we'd need a pass or be snuck in. But world leaders means good food, or at least I hope. Also it'd obviously be mourning and probably as formal as one gets. So get your good suit ready."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint nods, "Good plan," he says about those remaining hours of vacation. "Not that you really need them," Clint suspected, like him, Coulson had tons of unclaimed hours banked up mostly due to moments like this when things went from calm to all hands on deck.

"Hm, tell you what, if we pull security on that one, I'll meet you for a 'security check' of the buffet after the service. And sure, my good suit's always ready, it's the same as my bad one," a smile then. "Alright, we should get to work, but we should get together and chat sometime when you've got a chance to settle in and when you know, there's no national crisis."

Phil Coulson has posed:
"Buffet should be given careful scrutiny." Phil nods and then smiles, "Indeed, once I get things settled in I'll let you know and we can go over info and get a plan put together."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Definitely," he says smiling about the buffet. Then about getting together, "Great, you've got my number."

A smile then as something occurs to him out of the blue. "Oh yeah, check your inbox, secret santa thing this year, Darcy will murder me if she finds out I didn't tell you to sign up. Plus she promises to make Fury wear a santa suit," he laughs and then it's on to business. They had an assassin to find.
