Synopsis: Clint and Colleen stop a mugging. They talk and exchange details in case of peril or apartments.
Cast of Characters: Hawkeye (Barton), Colleen Wing

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Afternoon, Lower East Side, Clint had a few errands to run in town and so he figured he'd stop by the local places here to see if anyone had posted any adds for apartments the old fashion way rather than on the net. He liked this part of town, it had a funky vibe and he knew back in the day it was a big deal in the punk scene, which was cool. His old mentor Trick Shot got him into all those bands. That whole scene had moved on, but yeah, there was something about the vibe of this place.

Having grabbed a couple of numbers off a sign in a coffee shop and coffee, Clints wanders out of the shop, and into the scene of a mugging.

Two guys, one girl, a purse tugged between them.

"Jeeze, and here I thought street crime went out with the punk scene," Clint mutters as he runs towards the attack.

Colleen Wing has posed:
Colleen, as it happens, was putting up flyers advertising her dojo. As usual, business was slow. Every month she somehow managed to pay the rent (she insisted!), but every month it was something of a challenge. It had been suggested by some that maybe she'd be better off to pack up and offer her services to a more established and higher volume dojo - but then, she argued, it wouldn't be hers. That was a thing that mattered to her: Her independance. She drew her strength from Chikara.

She'd just finished stapling her flyer to the board already plastered with so many of the things that her own wouldn't even register, and by tomorrow would be papered over by a fresh layer of flyers, when she looked up and caught what looked like it could possibly be an issue.

Quickly, and quietly, she shoved her stapler and the remainder of her flyers into the bag she'd been carrying and made quick steps in that direction.

"Hey! Is everything alright?"

This to the woman whose purse was now so very obviously being fought over.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
It'd been awhile since Clint had been in the street level vigilante game, but he still had some moves, and quips, "Lady I'm going to need you to give these gentlemen back their purse," he pauses. "Or wait, did I misread this situation?"

The comments coming at the same time, the muggers don't know which way to look, but they do let go of the purse and start backing away. Clint for his part recognizes a fighter in a half dozen little things about how Colleen carries herself, and just in case the muggers weren't about to run, he shifts to put them between them. For his part, Clint shows that fighter vibe too, his stance, casual, but alert, suggests he has had some form of training, and that he wasn't afraid to throw down with these guys if it came to that.

That's when one of the guys pulls a knife. "Back off!" he shouts at the pair, their victim, forgotten as she flees.

Colleen Wing has posed:
Oh, yeah. By this time Colleen has the situation assessed quite well. The muggers think they've got an easy mark, despite the fact that New York City is lousy with the superhero sort. Still, not being able to fathom the stupidity didn't change the fact that there they were, mugging her.

That the tall, blonde gentleman across the way seemed on her side, and better still, carried himself with the comportment of someone that knew his way around a fight most certainly helped.

"Now why didn't someone tell me we were bringing knives to a street fight? And me with just my fists."

And her feet. And some fairly lethal martial arts moves.

She drops into a lower stance and nods to Clint. "Left." It's all the warning she gives before sweeping in after the mugger on the left. Hoping she and her 'partner' don't play a game of 'not my left! your left!'.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint's lips curve into a fierce grin at Colleen's remark. Yep, this was going to be interesting. When she calls left, there's no confusion, Clint acts. His hands by his side come up into a boxer's stance, using his reach to full effect, before he socks the guy hard with a right, then, follows up with a quick left. He's holding back, if he'd bothered to use some of the deadlier stuff he'd learned from Cap or Nat, this guy'd be broken right now. Instead he's going for bruised and remorseful.

Colleen on the other hand has the guy with the knife.

Colleen Wing has posed:
The man with the knife probably doesn't know what hit him. She's a compact little whirl around, coming up in his space aiming to block any thrusts of that knife, while divesting him of it. Bruised and remorseful seems a decent way to leave the guy, and unless he starts showing some chops, it's going to be a short fight.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint's guy backs up, hurting. He tries to throw a punch, but Clint blocks and counters, in the space of a heartbeat. "Run," he says to the guy.

He runs.

Clint turns back to the other fight. He didn't expect to need to help whoever the girl was and he was right, she had game. Knife-boy was on the back foot, his blade laying in the gutter. Clint leans against one of the supports of the nearby chain link fence, as the guy takes a swing. He flinches, "Bad move."

It was going to be a very short fight.

Colleen Wing has posed:
A swing. The guy is taking a swing.

If he were a student of hers she'd tell him all the reasons why that was such a stupid move after she'd beaten his ass down to the ground and made him think about his mistake. But as it is, she settles for stepping aside of the swing, grabbing his fist and arm, and overbalancing the man as she throws him over her hip and tosses him to the ground. "Here's some free advice," she tells him, "You want to leave now. Or I can quit with the warmup and get down to business. Your choice."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
That choice. Isn't much of a choice. Knife gone, friend gone, annnd he's gone. The guy beats feet faster than he has in his life.

Clint shakes his head, "Boxing, so not his sport, but guy might have a future in track," he says, before coming over to Colleen. "Clint Barton," he greets. "You've got some moves."

The compliment. Totally without undertones.

Colleen Wing has posed:
Colleen is inclined to let the man run, shaking her head ever so slightly as she watches the departing back. "They always think because I'm a girl that somehow they're going to win. The knife was ballsy, though."

She turns her attention to Clint and gives him a somewhat appraising grin. "Colleen Wing. You're not so bad yourself. Even if you were holding back."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Yeah, that kind of stupid is pretty common, seen a lot of ladies I know use it to take guys apart. Knife or no knife." He gives his head another shakes and turns to properly take in his temporary partner.

"Thanks. And yeah, you too," he says from what he saw of the fight. The way she had him before the throw, there were more painful ways she could have taken him down. "I like to think we gave them the chance to re-consider their life choices , but they probably won't," he shrugs and ducks down to pick up the knife it was cheap steel. He tosses it into the drain and watch it fall. "So, just a concerned citizen or is this your nine to five?" he asks Colleen.

Colleen Wing has posed:
A ghost of a smile flits over Colleen's lips as he asks if this is her nine to five. "I've been known to help out where I can. But it doesn't pay the rent."

She gives a negligent little shrug, and picks up her bag. "I have a dojo that pays the rent. But what about you? Nine to five, or a concerned citizen?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint returns a smile of his own. Nodding about the dojo and vigilante work not paying the bills. "I hear that," he says about the latter. "But yeah, I'm a nine to fiver with this stuff, I just play a little further off the street," despite introducing himself already, he holds out his hand again. "I'm Hawkeye, with the Avengers."

Colleen Wing has posed:
Colleen takes the hand and shakes it with the firmness you'd expect of someone with her training. Just the right amount of. "Hawkeye, huh? And Avenger?" She cants her head and considers him. "Nice to meet you. Still Colleen Wing here. Though now I can tell my boyfriend I've met you. I help out with a small group down here at street level. We don't like our streets to get too polluted with this kind of thing."

The Defenders. A 'small group'. She'd made them sound so quaint.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint grins, the head cant and the over all huh, to his admission wasn't quite the reaction Clint was expecting. His inner showman is a touch deflated by it. He soldiers on though and oddly doesn't feel that little pang of disappointment when she mentions her boyfriend, instead his interest is piqued by the mention of her little group. "Yeah?" he asks, he description did make it sound quaint, he half expects some Guardian Angels reboot. "They got a number? Always good to keep the lines of communication open in the biz."

Colleen Wing has posed:
"A number?" Colleen looks thoughtful. "Not so much, no. At least not like you mean it. But we've a few places you can find us.." Inspiration strikes, and she reaches into her bag and pulls out a flyer. "Here. This is my number. This is my dojo. You can reach me here. Or if you need an introduction, I can see what I can do. I'm not the heavy lifting on the team. Just backup."

She does alright as backup, but yeah, she's not nine-to-fiving it.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
No number huh? Clint nods, and takes the flier, giving it a once over and then nodding again. "Great, got a pen?" he asks, "I'll give you mine, same purpose, there's an Avengers number, but we're sort of snobs, most times we don't come out for less than the city's in peril," he says half-joking. "But calling me, will get you past that stuff."

Colleen Wing has posed:
There's a lift of brow from Colleen. "Snobs, huh? And sure, I have a pen. Wait, I can do you one better." Her cell is pulled out of her bag, and she draws up the contacts page. "Shoot. Or would you rather input it yourself?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Yeah, well when you have a billionaire on the team it sort of comes with the territory," Clint says of being snobs. "And oh right, 21st Century," he grins about the phone. "Yeah, my number is," he gives her the number. "Oh, also okay to call if you hear about any good apartments around here. My girlfriend and I are looking."

Colleen Wing has posed:
"Billionaire on the team makes you snobs, huh? Interesting. I'll have to pass that information along." She says it with a nod. It could be taken that she means she'll let her teammates know who they'll be dealing with. Or.. you know, she could be amused and planning on letting at least one billionaire know his financial status made them all snobs. It truly is amusing her. That last bit drags her attention back. "Apartments? Sure. I can keep my eyes open. Usually they free up about the 5th of the month when folks can't pay their rents. Should be a slew after the new year."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Yep, total snobs, all of them," Clint says with a nod and a smile. He enjoyed digging on Tony even when he wasn't around to hear it. He also wasn't that much of a snob. As for the larger context of Colleen's remark, flies right over his head.

"The 5th, huh, good to know," Clint says, "Anyhow, I'll let you get going, but good fight, and we'll talk if there's apartments or peril."

Colleen Wing has posed:
Colleen nods. "Nice saving the street with you. And yeah. I gotta boot. Class at 2." And without much further ado, she excuses herself and heads off. She really does have a class at 2.
