Location: Avengers Mansion
Synopsis: Clint and Mon-El meet to discuss Vicky and using Legion tech to help the Avengers get around the Rising Tide's shut down of the internet.
Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Hawkeye (Barton)

Mon-El has posed:
As requested in Clint's message, Lar makes his way to the Avengers Mansion. He hadn't been exactly sure where to find it, but figuring that part out wasn't too difficult for someone with his sensory capabilities.

Landing as gently as possible in front of the massive house, he just walks up to the front door and pushes what must be a doorbell or other door signal.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
The Rising Tide hack had begun the day before but the subspace communicator Mon-El had given Clint still worked, the Daxamite had reached out to him about Victoria Jones, and while what to do with Vicky had been tabled, the message itself gave Clint an idea so, the invite was given and when the doorbell rang Clint came down to answer it, dressed in his Hawkeye gear, minus the cowl. He opens the door, and give Mon-El a grin in greeting, "Welcome to the Avengers Mansion," he says as he steps aside to let Mon-El in. "Thanks for coming it sounds like we might the Legion's help with the whole Rising Tide thing."

Mon-El has posed:
"Clint." Lar's face lights up with a smile upon seeing his newfound friend. He comes inside when the door is opened, taking a moment to absorb the fancy interior of the mansion. The architecture is quite a contrast to the futuristic Legion cruiser. "Wow, nice place you have here. Assuming you do live here, anyway." he adds with a slight chuckle. "So...how can I help with this comms blackout thing?'

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint smiles as Lar takes in the mansion, he does love showing the place off, "Hey, Lar. Yeah, used to live here full time, now I'm mostly here on monitor nights and when the world's in crisis," he says of the mansion. "My new place is pretty good though, I'll invite you to the housewarming if the world survives," he says before getting down to business.

"Well, we're trying to get an alternate system of relaying data going right now, and since your comms don't seem to be effected I was thinking we might be able to work with you and your team on this problem."

Mon-El has posed:
"When the world's in a crisis. Kinda like right now I'm guessing." Lar smirks a little bit. He looks pensive a moment at Clint's request. "Hmm...I'm not terribly familiar with the way Earth's comms systems work, but I assume whoever these Rising Tide people are, they don't have the ability to affect subspace transmissions. At least not on that massive of a scale. Maybe if you guys have something that can connect up to the cruiser's comms array, we could restore -your- communications capabilities."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Yep. Just like now," Clint says about the current situation. "As for the comms systems I have no idea how they work either for the most part, but the Avengers have some of the smartest beings on the planet on the roster and we're reaching out to the rest, so I am sure we can figure something out. Don't suppose you have another of these comm units handy?" Clint asks. "And don't have a problem with us tinkering with it. I figure if the brains on the team get a look at the guts of one of these they'll have some ideas on how to communicate with your ship in no time."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar nods and pulls out a small metal case, putting on a coffee table nearby. Popping it open, inside are about a dozen transceivers like the one he gave Clint earlier. "I thought you might ask." he smiles. "This is tech we have built into our flight rings that allows us to communicate with the rest of the team even from the other side of the galaxy. But we have plenty of standalone units for communicating with our allies in different systems at times." It's a good thing he's been studying up lately.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint's brows raise in surprise when Lar presents so many of the units all at once. "Ask and thou shalt receive huh?" he says with a grin. "Thanks, I am sure my team can definitely make use of these," he says putting his own comm unit away on his belt before bending to examine the others. "How did the thing you mentioned in your message go by the way? The thing with Victoria," he glances up and smiles as he adds, "And you talk to your girl yet?"

Mon-El has posed:
Lar arches a brow at the saying, being unfamiliar with it. But he doesn't ask, figuring it's just another Terran thing. "Of course, but uh...make sure you keep them well secured and only let your team access them. You're already familiar with the fact that the Legion is from the future--while we try to help where we can, I don't think we should try to help -too- much, if you know what I mean. The widespread use of certain kinds of technology that isn't readily available for another thousand years might have um...unforeseen consequences on the future. Some of which might be bad. Anyway, you get what I mean. Wouldn't want this tech getting released to anyone and everyone."

Regarding Vicky, a long exhale escapes him. "Oh, yeah...Jones. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. She has some kind of other entity living in her mind, and it isn't a nice one. And she's loaned herself to Ares, which isn't good either. She just needs to get away from him, so that she can get the right training from the right people."

"I talked to Kara, yes...she wants to trust my judgment, but I can tell she still didn't like it. Maybe she'll come around, once she gets to meet -you-." he smiles.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"I hear you, no tearing wonky holes in the fabric of space and time, we'll keep these locked up in the lab along with the rest of the weird crap we come across," Clint promises and by the sound of it, he means it. "Did the time travel thing myself once, back not forward, so yeah, I know you've got to be careful."

Clint nods, "So, she's possessed or something. Hrm, that's never good and neither is her learning from Ares. We'll have a sit down with her when the crisis is over and figure this out."

"Kara huh?" he says, not having heard the girl's name before now. "Pretty name," he remarks before laughing about the rest. "Sure, we can go for pizza or you can bring her with while we check you out, she can make sure we're not making a clone army or anything." He grins at that.

Mon-El has posed:
"Oh?" Lar looks surprised at the revelation that Clint has also traveled back in time before too as he closes the case again and hands it to the other man, trusting the promise that they'll be kept secure. "Really, tell me about it."

"Something like it, I'm not too sure. I don't know her well enough to know all that much about this other person or thing that shares a body with her yet. But yeah, maybe once this is all over I can convince her to talk to you guys. It's a start, at least."

He grins at the mention of Kara and pizza. "She might not be able to say 'no' to pizza. I mean, not that we're -really- together or anything, we haven't really talked about the um...potential consequences of that or how we'd deal with it if it happened yet, so..." he trails off, averting his eyes momentarily.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint grimaces, "It's a long story but the gist is me and the team from the West Coast base got scattered through time a few years back, was hell getting everyone back together again and well, it cost me and someone important to me a lot," he gives Mon-El a shrug. "I know not the best story ever told but it's hard to get into. But yeah, it was tense trying not to fuck up the timeline so I get what you're saying about these. I will keep them safe."

"It is, and if we can talk to her and get her help, that's a hell of a lot better than sending a team to take her in," he says. "Hopefully Ares doesn't mess with her to much in the meantime."

Clint closes the lid on the box and stands up, a smirk playing across his lips, "Consequences of what? A relationship, or do you mean doing the nasty?" he asks.

Mon-El has posed:
"Agreed." Lar nods. "But, honestly if it becomes necessary, I understand. She had a...breakdown yesterday. Almost killed some innocent bystanders. If me and this other lady hadn't been there to calm her down and get people to safety, she could've--/would've/ gotten people killed. Ares might be good at honing her fighting skills, but I don't see someone like him helping her cope with her feelings of rejection. So if talking doesn't work, then I'm willing to help with any containment measures that might need to happen."

The Daxamite peers curiously at Clint, not sure what exactly he means. "I'm not sure what you mean by 'the nasty', but--" he sighs. "It's just that if my parents ever found me in love with a Kryptonian girl, they'd throw a fit. And them throwing a fit could mean something rather drastic..."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint's lips form a grim line while he listens to Mon-El about Victoria. "Bystanders, huh?" he nods taking that in and moving Victoria up the list of projects he has to attend to once the Rising Tide has been dealt with. "Glad to hear you're willing to help. Still hoping it won't come to that but if it does I'll be glad to have you on my side when it comes to containing her. Thanks for volunteering."

"I meant sex," Clint explains bluntly, before he oh's with understanding as Lar lays out the issues. "So it's a Romeo and-" right, alien he won't know that reference. "-So it's a family thing then, your folks won't be happy if your messing around with someone from the wrong planet."

Mon-El has posed:
"Same, so I'll do my best to gain her trust and keep it. That way we have a better chance of getting her the help she needs -with- her consent instead of without it." After everything she's been through, Lar would hate for her to think he'd 'betrayed' her too. But if it did come to that, hopefully eventually she'd see that it was for her own good in the end.

"Yeah, basically." Lar replies with a long sigh. "While we weren't exactly at war with each other, Krypton and Daxam didn't exactly have the best of relations with each other before Krypton was destroyed. I was always told that they were just a bunch of self-righteous snobs full of self-proclaimed moral superiority. And yet, here I am, falling for a Kryptonian girl, just when I thought my life couldn't get any weirder. But--she's different. I mean, she isn't what I expected Kryptonians to be like. Or like any of the emissaries we always saw...so yeah, they show up here and find me with her, they're not going to happy, and they're not going to listen even if I tried to explain that their centuries-old generalizations about Kryptonians are wrong." He sighs again, shaking head. "Anyway, you talk to yours yet or you decide to put it behind you already?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint nods. "Let's hope that's the way it goes," he says about Victoria.

Clint listens to the rest, marveling slightly at the fact he was hear listening to an alien talk about interplanetary feuds and all the rest. Then something clicks. "Wait. Emissaries, so what, are your parents diplomats?" he asks. I mean he didn't imagine the average Daxamite met emissaries from other planets, let alone rival ones.

"Well, I hope your folks listen. I mean Krypton is gone, seems sort of petty to hold a grudge against the remaining few Kryptonians left." Clint weighs his answer to the last one, wanting to tell the truth but knowing he had to keep the fiction going for a little while longer. "Not yet, but soon, when this mission is over we'll have a chance to sort everything out." Only half of that was a lie.

Mon-El has posed:
"Well, kind of. They're royalty. And yes, like they were the ones in charge." Lar admits finally. "And yes, that makes me the prince, but don't you go starting to bow down in front of me and call me 'your highness' because none of that really matters here." he chuckles. "Anyway, yeah. Diplomacy comes with that job. And -lots- of politics." he rolls his eyes slightly at this.

"Honestly I don't think they will. That's the problem." he sighs again. "Things were already bad -before- Krypton blew up, but the explosion kind of turned the surface of Daxam into a wasteland. Naturally, everything's Krypton's fault. They -think- all the Kryptonians are dead and gone now, but if they find out that not only isn't the case but I've actually fallen -in love- with one of them...well. They might do something that could get people hurt. And with how strong we are this close to a yellow star, that could be...you know."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint blinks, "Wait, you're the Prince of Space?" Clint asks with a laugh. "And wasn't thinking of bowing down or anything, not really my thing," he says with a good-natured shake of his head.

Clint nods about the dangers his parents present, what with the big yellow sun in the sky. "Understood, well, if it comes to that, the Avengers at the very least will have your back. Dealing with stuff like that is what we do."

Clint ducks down again and grabs the case. "I should take this down to the labs so the brains can get to work, but, it was good to see you man, and you can count on us being in touch soon."

Mon-El has posed:
"Uh I don't know about -the- prince of space, but maybe -a- prince from space?" Lar laughs. "Good, I was hoping it wouldn't be. I got enough of that back home to last me a lifetime."

He nods. "Thanks, it's good to have friends who are willing to help. If they can. And I hope those will do you some good." Then he sees himself out the door.
