Synopsis: The Ice Giants come looking for the Thunderer!
Cast of Characters: Black Widow (Romanoff), Rogue, Thor, Jessica Jones, Flash

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
It is an idyllic afternoon in the park by the East River. The park is filled with people playing in the sun due to the wonderful weather. It's warm but not the overbearing heat that can sometimes make being outdoors unbearable. Families enjoy time out as a unit, although inevitably some of their children seem to be more interested in their telephones. A few college age students are playing frisbee, their laughter and playful jeers when one of them misses fill the air. Some business executives have even come out to sit by the water while they eat a late bagged lunch.
    A beautiful, normal day.
Yet somewhere there is a slight disturbance between the dimensions. No normal people would ever sense it. It is difficult to pinpoint what it might be or why but if tracked seems to be centered on the water far from shore.

Rogue has posed:
There's a skateshop on this side of town, just on the other side of the street from the park where there is also (conveniently) a skatepark. Rogue is at the skateshop today and she's inside buying some clothes, they got the best hoodies in stores like this so she's grabbing a few of them to prepare for Fall which is right around the corner... so with five of them in a bag she's at the counter and is glancing outside at the people at the park across the street while she waits for her turn, her hair is tied back into a ponytail while her white bangs are done up in thin braids that frame her face, its a very 'punk' look and her dark eye makeup only adds to it. She's got a red wine colored tshirt on, some jeans and black gloves with simple sneakers on her feet.

Thor has posed:
Deep in the depths of the Avengers Mansion, an old couch seems to bow at the middle as the heavy figure of Thor Odinson is seated upon its distressed frame. The bright LCD television before him gleams with flickers of light and computer images of brightly dressed men and women rushing around on a screen shooting each other, while at the bottom of the screen is an image of a rifle from the perspective of the person looking at the screen holding it.
The Thunderer, for his part, is peering at the screen and frowning as he speaks into a small white headset. "Where is this flag? I know not of which you speak!"
Voices sound muffled inside the headphones.
"I am returning to battle, bide until I reach there!"
    More voices on the headphones,
"I am not a newb, control your tongue!"
    More voices.
"My mother was an honorable woman!"
But then he pulls the headphones off and sets down the controller as a subtle /whom/ is heard distantly from the hammer that rests upon the end table nearby. His brow furrows.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Far out in the river, a white orb appears about twenty feet above the water line. It hovers there a moment. Slowly, it begins to expand outward. It is almost a hesitant movement, as though it is difficult for it to do so. Then something changes and what was a small globe expands into a disc shape, which if viewed from the river side would be almost flat. Yet from the park, it is expanding out until it is forty feet in diameter. There is nothing visible on the other side except whiteness.
Then the blast of frigid air /BLASTS/ forth from that portal. A swirling snowstorm fills the air above the river and expands outward. The arctic temperatures are low enough that the river in front of it begins to freeze immediately. The icy expanse spreads forth from the disc and toward the park, bringing the cold air with it as it assaults those who had been enjoying the spring day.
The ice crackles and pops as the water beneath tries to fight back with its warmth but to no avail. In moments, there is a layer of ice several feet thick. It continues it's inexorable march to the shore where the ice spreads along the ground with icy fingers, the grass becoming so brittle it will break if stepped upon.
Once the passage is created, figures begin to appear in the whiteness, nothing but shadows at first until they step out onto the ice.
Rows and Rows of humanoid beings twice the height of an Asgardian begin to march out of that opening. More and more of them, until there are a hundred upon the ice. They pause once there, creatures that seem to be made out of ice itself, their skin blue with white icicles or shards of varying sizes where a normal human might have hair. Their eyes are a pale, glowing blue as they regard the shore. Many have weapons made out of ice, though some carry steel. They are all melee type weapons, be they swords, sprears or maces.
Out of the portal steps another, dressed in flowing robes and carrying a staff carved with runes. "The Thunderer is in this city. Find him!"
With that command, the horde lets out a shrill war cry as they begin to charge for the shore.

Rogue has posed:
Needless to say an event like this that suddenly breaks out causes all the serenity and peaceful Manhattanites to, well, freak out. People start hording out of the park back toward the streets which makes all the cars in the street come to a halt and their horns to start blazing because the drivers are pounding on their steering wheels, or the rich folks in their self-driving cars are fumbling with their mocha latte's and trying to find out where the horn on their fancy cars even are!

Its created chaos, and that chaos spreads over to the commercial row of stores where Rogue is.

She sets her hoddies down on the counter and steps outside into the bright daylight to let her pale green eyes narrow in the brightness at the display of the marching monsters crossing the ice shelf they'd build from their weird ice portal?

"Well. God... Damnit." Rogue says, her pale pink lips muttering these words as she raises her smart phone and brings up the Avengers app thing, and within a few more finger taps she's got an ***ALERT*** sent out to all Avengers, with her location instantly transmitted to them and the cameras on the street instantly feeding live video of whats going on into the app!

Rogue then pockets her phone and starts to run AGAINST the foot traffic, TOWARD the towering ice monsters! She's not afraid of them!

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica was in the midst of a stakeout, following a hapless man on a date, who didn't even know he was getting pictures of him snapped now and again. Whatever will provide ample proof that the asshole was cheating on his wife. Adultery, check the dictionary and you'll find: #1 income source for Alias Investigations. Or something along those lines.

But then something happens, that distracts everyone's attention from whatever they were doing. Hopefully the client will accept whatever pictures Jessica got thus far, because she's not about to keep tailing Mr. Jefferson, especially now when his date is broken by running away in hysterics, totally leaving his date behind. See? Jess knew he was an asshole, she's a great judge of character.

"The fuck is this...?" Jessica snarls to herself, "I don't even have a bottle on me, this straight sucks." Is she going to step up to the plate like Rogue and do something about this invasion? Remains to be seen, for now she just stares in disbelief.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
While the horde is rushing forward, the giant in the robes walks more sedately forward. He is in no rush and doesn't seem to be concerned with the chaos their appearance has created. The screaming humans are ignored. He brings up his hand to the giant Sapphire at the top of his staff, his hand palm down as he murmurs a few words. The stone begins to pulse rhythmically. As he turns to the side, the pulsing slows. Then he turns the opposite direction. As he does, the pulsing increases in tempo until it becomes a solid glow. That is the direction of the magic energies he is tracing. In that direction lies the Asgardian.
As for the frost giants, they have reached the shore and begun to spread out even as people do their best to get away. It seems the weather is continuing to expand outward as the frost on the ground spreads, following the passage of the invaders. Soon that cold is reaching the traffic jam on the street, ice coating the windows of the vehicles in an almost dainty lacy pattern that might be beautiful if not for the situation.
If any humans dare to be in the path of the giants, they do not hesitate to bring those weapons into play. Thus far, they haven't quite reached them but as they start to near the street, that will likely change.
As Rogue pushes her way through the crowds, she is nearing one of the giants. He is carrying a heavy mace that seems to be made out of solid ice. "Move." It is a single word snarled, the only warning she will get. If she remains there, he will bring up the mace and swing it full force in an attempt to remove her head from her body.

Thor has posed:
The weather swirls around the onset of the Jotunheim Winter as the ice lashes out and takes over the sliver of Summertime in that park that dares to defy it. Snow fall is heavy, and the winds pick up all around. Yet it is only now, after the Giants leap forth to assert their grasp upon the land and their manifestation in this world... only now that high above the sky the clouds begin to darken.
It's a black whorl of storm that threatens to break, perhaps brought along in part by the assault force from the other realm, or perhaps it is something else entire.
Yet one thing is assured, that when the lightning bolts begin to dash back and forth between the clouds, a sense of foreboding might well begin to build as the invaders will have almost instinctive racial memories of what such a storm front bodes.

Flash has posed:
The truth of the matter is that Flash was on monitor duty for the Justice League.

He was also taking an accidental nap.

But then the alarms make short work of that, and he comes awake quickly. Assesses the problem, brushes off the crumbs of the dinner he'd had before the nap, and makes 'pretty good' time to the site.

Flash appears just a hair to Rogue's left in a reddish twist of the air. Seeing the streetclothes-garbed Rogue made him assume the worst for her and that giant, and he moves to aid: to snare her and move her a few yards to the side, so she is not present for that smushing mace. She had been started to lunge somewhere, he could tell, so he'll help out. He hadn't been around long enough to know if she can take a mace to the face, but opted for highest safety.

"Let's keep your head where it is!" Flash says brightly to her, friendly, and very clearly attempting to help. She'll have a few beats to reply before he'll go jetting off to see who else needs to not be smashed by giants while he assesses the army.

Rogue has posed:
And now Rogue is stopping as she's standing face to... well... foot with one of the ice giants, but she's looking up at it and its looking down at her. She reaches up to brush her white braided hair out of her face and she shakes her head side to side.

"Ya didn't say 'please', Sugah." Rogue replies as the ice mace comes swinging down for her and she moves to LEAP up at it!

-- ....

But she's suddenly moved, in a flash, and now she finds herself off to the side and her LUNGE is... cut short, so its just kind of a standing thrust that is aborted and then the teenaged Avenger is looking over at the Justice League member and she just huffs at him. "Thanks... Red Rocket..." She tells him with a bit of annoyance on her voice.

Kids these days, so ungrateful!

Jessica Jones has posed:
As the cold brought forth by the Ice Giants starts to spread, Jessica is looking gradually more pissed off. "You're fucking kidding me, right?" She rolls her eyes and takes a few steps towards the advancing giants, "guys," she screams out at them, wondering if they can even hear her all the way up there, "this ain't Oz or Neverland or Whateverthefuckyou'relookingforland, ok? So back off, get back in your magical purple haze thing, and go freeze some other world. We cool?" But even she shakes her head at that last pun, far too terrible without any whiskey.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
The glowing Sapphire continues to glow. Then the beam of light from it shifts, starting to rise upward. The level of shine remains the same for a moment then begins to glow get brighter even as the beam shifts further toward that sky.
As the lightning begins to spread forth, the leader of the invading force smiles. Things are going even better than planned.
Some of the invaders hesitate in their advancement as they see the lightning. They don't cower and run though. Instead a rumbling starts, their voices raised as they begin to speak.
"Asgardians! Pah!" And the grizzled warrior spits on the ground, the bit of moisture freezing the ground on impact.
"Let them come!" Another slams his sword against his ice shield, looking to the sky with eager anticipation.
"I will have his hammer as a trophy!"
"You wouldn't be able to pick it up!"
"Shut up! Or I'll show you how worthy I am with this!" The spear he is armed with is raised as he eyes his comrade.
The fighters begin to move, ranging in height from ten to the tallest being about 25 feet. They are falling into ragged formations of sorts to allow for them to better fight anyone coming to interfere.
The giant that was aiming for Rogue finds his swing hits nothing, the blow going past as he spins, the air /WHOOSHING/ with the intensity of the attempted blow. He blinks a moment then spots her over near a man in red. Then the man is gone as the giant frowns. He lumbers toward Rogue, determined to do what he was starting to. It seems that his repertoire is a little limited as he goes for another swing of the mace.
As Jessice takes on the role of peace negotiator, the giant closest to her peers down at her. He is one of the largest on the field, a full 25 feet, built like a linebacker. He doesn't carry a weapon, instead thudding one heavy hamfist into the palm of the other hand. "Give us the Thunderer. Then we'll leave."

Flash has posed:
"Red Rocket works. I have a feeling you got this now, though?" Flash answers Rogue, with a thumbs up, as if deciding to ignore the sarcasm. Sometimes it's just easier to not engage with grumpy teens. He is not the thunderer they want, but is causing some lightning as he darts here and there. He's doing general crowd control, playing entirely defense for now. He isn't USUALLY the guy that talks to the aliens that land, so he didn't move to try to do it right away. He's more the guy that scouts. He counts enemies and types.

"Thunderer. Thunderer. Asgardian. Probably we're talking Thor?" Flash mutters to himself. One of the bystanders he's relocating thinks he is talking to her, and gives him a shrug. "Probably?" she guesses.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is staring at Flash a moment longer, but he's gone so quick that she barely even got a real good look at him... his super suit was nicer than most of the Convention Costumes that some of the more street level heroes throw onto themselves, or the really poor ones who just put on pajamas and color them up with markers or bedazzling kits... so he must be someone important.

Either way, the big stomping ice monster is back on her and marching toward her again, so Rogue backsteps a few feet as she looks up at it and releases a heavy sigh. "Look, buddy. You're not really my type, okay? So why don't we end this now before it gets... messy!" And NOW she lunges up at the creature's head! She's intending to latch herself onto his head and just lift him straight up into the sky!

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica is actually surprised to find she managed to develop a conversation with one of those giants. See? Why resort to fists and violence off the get go, sometime all you gotta do is talk, and you could find alterantive solutions. Like...giving them the Thunderer? "Who the fuck is the Thunderer?" Jessica asks, bewildered, as apparently the Ice Giant misjudged just how well known some of Thor's nicknames are on Midgard. Which coincidentally sounds like mead, and Jessica would actually be fine with some of that. "Look, if I knew in the name of fuck all was the Thunderer, I would gladly let you have him, but as thing stands...never heard of the fucker, so...maybe he's in a different world? All we got here are assholes, drunk assholes, homeless assholes and rich assholes...see? No Thunderers." Somebody -should- make Jessica an Ambassador to Asgard at some point, she's got the eloquence for it.

Thor has posed:
A force in motion whirls out of the heavy storm clouds, trailing tendrils of electricity in its wake as it blurs end over end over end faster than the eye can see only to slash down to the ground and then connect heavily /square/ in the center of the largest mass of the Jotun before that Shaman. The impact causes a heavy _rumble_ in the ground and emits a powerful shock wave that crashes against the bodies of ice and snow, electrical blasts lancing through each great loping form and sizzling into the ground... revealed as the Mighty Mjolnir at rest with grip up towards the sky, still hissing with contained power.
And for a split second it might seem like there is an instant of peace that allows the fallen giants to begin to gather themselves, only for the body of Thor resplendent in his black and grey armor with the red cloak across one shoulder /lands/ with a heavy crash that picks up those fallen and sends them hurling backwards from the force of the landing. For that, to those who can see him there amonst the fallen, is the Thunderer.
The tall blonde man with the strapless eye patch rises to his full height as he scowls, "You dare, Bellos? You dare trod ground protected by the might of Asgard?" He extends a hand to the side and with a quiet /whom/ the hammer leaps from the ground and into his hand.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As the Flash rushes across the field of battle, he would be able to assess there were exactly ninety-four of the giants, including the shaman leading them. So ninety-three that are wielding weapons or fists. They have gathered in groups of about ten to twenty, other than the largest group which is serving as a guard of sorts for their shaman who stands just at the edge of the park, barely on the land itself.
Rogue's dance partner is taken by surprise when the little flea leaps! Suddenly he has her plastered on his head like a face-hugger, then he feels his feet leave the ground. He lets out a bellow as he reaches up to try and grab her even as she lifts him easily up into the air. His mace hangs from his wrist on a strap as he goes for the grab.
The smooth negotiations of Jessica have the giant facing her frowning. The three with him peek around the bulk of the first, one letting out a low whistle of appreciation for her verbal ability. Amongst them, that's pretty damn impressive. "Then you are useless." Ann with that he swings that fist that is bigger than Jessica's head, aiming for her body to try and slap her out of the way like a bug.
The arrival of Mjolnir makes the bright Sapphire emit a glow that is almost blinding, the beam aimed at the hammer like a spotlight even as the thirty giants around it are knocked to the ground. One or two don't seem to be getting up but the rest are doing so quickly. Until the second shockwave hits as the Thunderer himself lands, sending them flying once again. This time at least five don't move to try and scramble back to their feet or to reclaim their weapons.
Bellos of the Bold Eye gives a half smile, half snarl at the words from Thor. "Asgard is /dead/. As is it's King." He sounds a bit too pleased at getting to say that outloud. "There is no might of Asgard, simply a boy trying to fill a crown that is too big for him to fill properly."

Flash has posed:
"I think so too!" Flash agrees with the bystander, helping her to not trip over a curb. He watches Thor's dramatic entrance while dealing with a handful of other people that aren't being mindful of their safety, and then arrives near Thor. Not /too/ close. He's not extremely confident Thor's in a frame of mind to immediately recognize him from their previous meetings as a Justice League member. Not that he fears being hit, more that he doesn't want to distract the god as he prepares for whatever shouting match this will become.

"Speak of the Thunderer, and he appears. You've been called out," Flash says, with a sigh in his voice, but still upbeat. He isn't shouting, this is just for Thor, to inform him of the support available: "Asgard protected? Hey, um. Justice League in attendance, as well. Such as I am, anyway. We do okay. Think we can keep this diplomatic and peaceful?" Flash asks, deferring to Thor's experience and leadership. But then there's the comments about Thor's head versus crown size, and so on. Flash winces.

Rogue has posed:
Though Rogue had never seen the Alien movies, someone she absorbed at some point had... be it Carol or someone else, so she did have that face hugger tactic in her arsenal... sadly its not quite as effective on these fellas though since her absorption power is ineffective against these creatures. So even with part of her bare arm touching this thing, its not doing anything power draining... but that wasn't Rogue's goal here anyhow!

No, instead, she ducks underneath the swiping hand that tries to grab her as she flies the creature up into the air and then she scurries around behind him so she's on the back of his head/neck. "Ya ever play Mario Brothers?" She shouts into his ear while he swats at her with his ice-mace and she tosses her hand over to deflect it.

"Remember the ice levels?" And then she reverses her flight course and increases her speed and descends, at smashing speeds to use the GROUND as her weapon against this creature, to slam him right down into it!

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica was talking to avoid having to face one of these giants, but sadly, looks like they don't know how to deal with rejection. "You serious?" She looks a bit stunned for a moment, before pointing at the crackling entrance of Thor and screaming, "I think that's your guy, look at all the lightning and shit!" But she's not exactly waiting to see if that Giant will stop his plans to swat her away and turn to look. Instead she does what she hates most, and jets herself into the air, one arm extended Superman style with the sole intention of uppercutting the Giant in the chin. She has no clue if she's strong enough to make him feel it, but she's giving it her all. Worst case scenario? She'll fly the fuck outta here!

Thor has posed:
"So it seems," Thor replies to the Flash without looking at him immediately. But then at the question his brow lifts, "Perhaps, it depends on..."
Of course that is the moment when Bellos of the Bold Eye utters his insult that the clouds high above seem to darken all the more. The one-eyed Asgardian scowls and says over his shoulder, "I'm afraid not. See to the safety of the humans!" He says even as he starts forwards into a run shouting a loud call of, "Yaaah!"
Only for his advance to be met by the charge of that cadre of Frost Giants so close to their shaman with the gleaming sapphire staff. Mjolnir leaps from Thor's hand, striking cleanly into the head of one giant, then rebounding into the head of another, and finally a third before it snaps back into his hand with that loud /WHOM!/ It begins to spin faster than the eye can see as he plants himself with one leg forwards and brings the swirling hammer to intercept the hurtling forms of several other giants who are _smacked_ away by the hammer's strike.
One of the great and tall ones stomps forwards, bringing its own hammer back only for Thor to leap from the ground, Mjolnir in both hands for a wicked uppercut seeking to shatter those that defy him.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As the Flash arrives next to Thor, Bellos frowns. Where did he come from? He'd not seen him approach, just a flash of red and some lightning he assumed had been something to do with the storm or Mjolnir. Instead, there is a man that has just teleported in, or so it seems. He even claims to be a hero of some sort. The shaman keeps his eyes locked on Thor though.
Rogue's opponent did not have any way to fight this. If he couldn't get his hands on her, he couldn't hurt her. The move to his back has him swatting around in the air futilely. Then the speed increases and they are hurtling toward the ground. He sees what is coming but is helpless to stop it. The impact sends a rumble through the ground as he is /SLAMMED/ into the ground. Only it is enough that the giant simply explodes, shards of ice going everywhere. The force of the outgoing ice shrapnel is enough to even slam through some of the others nearby!
The giants are not the thinkers of their people. That's why the shaman is in charge. As Jessica points out he Thunderer, the beast actually turned his head that direction to look even as he made for the bug squashing maneuver. So he doesn't see that uppercut coming. One moment he is just trying to smash a human. Then next, he is falling backwards hard, crashing to the ground as the three giants behind him scramble out of the way. One fails and ends up underneath him. The fallen giant shakes his head, trying to clear away cobwebs that are suddenly there and not trying to get to his feet just yet. But the other two? They are now fully focused on Jessica!
Bellos looks pleased when the brawl starts. Still he stands there, utterly calm in the face of the Asgardian King. As the giants rush in, the attack by Thor is sending them flying left and right. A few remain on the ground. Some cry out in pain as they try to rejoin the fight. The spinning hammer even causes a few of them to simply burst into shards of ice that scatter the field of battle, the fallen 'blood' of their kind as they are destroyed. The uppercut meets the hammer bearing frost giant. His weapon strikes against Mjolnir and simply explodes, leaving him bare handed and unprotected as Thor's blow takes him down! But he is not alone. At least twenty of the frost giants rush Thor's position.
And even as they do this, Bellos speaks. "Give us the location of the Casket of Ancient Winters, Prince."

Flash has posed:
"Mmmmmm," Flash says, as if considering Thor's request/order with some skepticism. "I did a bunch of that already, I think it's preferable to split their..." Thor's doing hammer stuff, now, so Flash adapts very quickly. "... you know what, I'll just do it. You do you." Flash glances around once, and is off.

Flash's relay is an elaborate pattern of twisting swirls through the ranks of the group, ending in a large circle around Thor and the enemies before him. It is entirely intentional: laying out some air currents in a particular pattern. Flash runs the path over and over, faster than most can even be aware of, creating massive vortexes throughout the carefully organized army. The goal? Disarray and separation of the groups he'd seen before, pulling them towards the centers of the vortexes, to disorient and crowd control.

The largest vortex, though, is aimed most specifically to get those front enemies off-balance, and pulled directly into Thor's hammer-oriented reply.

Rogue has posed:
The Ice Giant is crushed into the ground and ice shards go everywhere, with icy dusting coating her as well... Rogue has to shake her head like a dog to send the ice/snow off of her in all directions. "Wbwbwbwbwb!" She raises her hands up and rubs the back of biceps... because she's not invulnerable to temperatures. "That is freeeezing!" She tells no one in particular, a couple other giants who were skewered by the shards fall down to their knees and then onto their stomachs around her.

Rogue looks about then, she can see the others fighting not too far away with Thor up to his old tricks and, some other woman seeming to having some similar attack strategy here.

But its Thor's hammer that makes Rogue look down to the ice mace that her first victim had and she shrugs her shoulders, then reaches out for it and picks it up.

Rogue now turns to the army of giants and she slaps the mace down in her opposite hand... its like holding a weapon thats bigger than your own body... which makes her look like a character out of an anime game. "This should be fun!"

The southern bell lunges at another giant and swings the mace like a baseball bat now! She's gone from face-hugger to imitating Thor, er... Thogue!

Jessica Jones has posed:
There was a brief second where Jessica remembered the first moments of being a superhero, of mattering, of making a difference, of taking a stand. But that all dies down very quick when several ice giants turn to look her way. Sure, she managed to get one with a sucker punch that would make Deadpool proud. But she doesn't like her odds on three of those looking to end her, which is why her next move is to call out. "He started!" And then she just flies away. Bravely flies away, away!

Thor has posed:
The world swirls with life and mayhem around him as the storm continues to strike and roar even as it mixes and blends with the onslaught of the winter snow, all of it being churned up by the powerful vortices that send the lightning and the sleet all the higher with the whirling motion of the Justice leaguer.
The giants nearest to the Shaman hurl themselves at him wildly, roaring as they charge and throw themselves bodily at him. One is knocked away with a backhand from the hammer, then another is smashed to the ground with an overhanded swipe even as the slithering licks of lightning lash out around him. For a moment one might actually hear laughter from the Asgardian, only for him to call out.
"You seek the Casket, shaman? You seek it now? Come to me and I will show you where it resides! Let Mjolnir take you there!"
Yet then one giant manages to sprawl over top the wild Asgardian, only for several others to throw themselves on top of that one as they try to cover and smother the Thunderer. "Yes, face me! All of you!" But then he stumbles beneath the pile of giants and his voice changes to a snarl as he snaps, "Damnation!"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
All hell is breaking loose! A moment before they were in full control there as the humans ran in terror before them. Now they are battling on all fronts, against those they had not realized would be a threat. Perhaps they should have evaluated the people on Earth before their invasion.
Flash's tactic works perfectly. The giants find themselves being pushed back by gusts of air that are being moved at superhuman speeds. They have no idea of the source. A red blur, lightning flashing and winds that have them fighting to stay standing. Their carefully set groups are scattered, many being herded in essence into the fray with Thor himself.
As Thogue?er, Rogue picks up the mace, she is met with the kind of fun she sought. A small cadre of giant charge as she does, raising up a war cry as they closed the distance. There was a crash of weapons then the superior strength of Rogue gave her the upper hand as she sent the first one flying. There were more to replace him though as they rushed in, trying to avoid the mace to hit her with their weapons. Little did they know that if they did hit her, it wouldn't do a bit of good.
The three that are focused on Jessica soon find their opponent has chosen the better part of valor in discretion. Thus retreat. As she flies away, they turn their attention toward the battle raging with the other combatants. And that damnable wind!
Seeing that the tactic is working, other frost giants begin to leap into the pile, all trying to be the one to take down the God of Thunder. As they do so, Bellos focuses his attention on the Sapphire again. He begins to murmur in the language of Jotunheim. The Sapphire pulses, the beam that had been aimed at Mjolnir disappearing instantly. As he does so, the portal behind him seems to waver a moment, growing smaller then expanding back out as the shaman refocused the energy of the jewel upon it. "Do not kill him!" he yells to the Jotun. "We need him alive. Bring him through the portal. We will question him and get the information we need."

Flash has posed:
Flash continues to focus on what he's doing, to continue to maintain the winds and pushing vortexes, though he directs some of the groups together with the blasting winds, hoping to get them to collide or get muddled with each other. He has seen Thor's trouble, but for the moment he has to focus on keeping the main army pinned down as much as he can, so that Thor's situation doesn't get even worse.

Still, though, there's that sapphire. Each time he passes it, he gets another look at it -- and finally attempts to race in to make a grab for it, at least knock it loose. What's the worst that could happen?

Rogue has posed:
Its not entirely a cake walk for the mighty Rogue and her icy mace... because the cold hard fact is that the mace is really cold! So she ends up dropping it after a few swipes and swings, and the bursting snow/ice clouds that splash over her from the enemies that she's felling is also coating her and freezing her up pretty harshly, not that her skin will be badly damaged by frostbite or anything, but there is still a dull throbbing pain from being overly cold that is slowing her down.

So when she's pummeled in the air by some of their weapons she shoots back up into the warm sky to let the ice crystals fly off of her and to give her a second to warm up some! "God, what ARE these things?!" She gasps, rubbing the backs of her arms again.

From up here, Rogue looks down at the fight going on below, she can see the ones she flew away from are all waving their weapons up at her angrily, but her eyes travel where she'd last seen Thor and that Red Rocket fella. She spots the Rocketman making for the Ice Shaman, so that pile of Giants must be where Thor is...

Rogue leans forward and zips back down to help the Thunderer, snow falling off of her as she goes! She starts grabbing hold of Giants on the ground and tossing them backward behind her out toward the East River!

Thor has posed:
The intrepid Rogathor and her mighty hammer are enough to perhaps buy Thor at least a bit of time to focus as the giants all seem to reach forth to try and grab a limb, to restrain him, to try and pull him to the ground. For a moment it is all dark for the Asgardian, not a hint of day save for the white flashes of snow and ice that make it through the pile of monsters seeking to restrain him...
But then one is pulled and hurled away, screaming as it's sent back into the river. Just enough to provide a small glimmer of sunshine through which she can see the large blonde man struggling with the creatures even as he draws back his hammer.
"Stand clear, Rogue!" He shouts just a single moment ahead of the instant when a gigantic lightning blast CRASHES down from the clouds and turns the already sunny day into a blinding flashing representation of what the sun's surface might seem like in just that split second. Yet it might well be the ROAR of thunder that is the worst part, for the moment after that the impact is felt and the giants are sent flying in all directions. Though some only in pieces.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
The Sapphire is about the size of a softball. It isn't perfectly round or polished, more a rough polish and a very asymmetrical shape. Yet it is glowing what the otherworldly light from within. As the Flash gets close enough, he can see that it seems to swirl within with a strange energy. His blow has the shaman losing his grip on the staff although the Sapphire does not come loose. The staff falls to the ground. As it lands, there is a sharp /crack/ sound. It isn't overly large, but a crack does appear in the stone. As it does, a similar crack appears in the portal out in the middle of the river. Blue energies lance outward from that crack in the portal, like bolts of lightning. They blast out and strike about ten of the Jotun who are out on the field of battle, caught in a tight bundle due to the vortex Flash had created. One moment they were there, the next they were simply gone.
As Rogue works her way to help Thor, the giants are not able to do anything to stop her. They might try to swing or grab her, but this small little woman is picking them up and tossing them like they weigh nothing. Bodies fly out into the river. Some are snatched away by the blue energy from the damaged portal as they enter the water or while in flight.
The blast of lightning and the /CRASH/ of thunder immediately following have the giants all flying back and away from Thor like a house of cards shattered from within. They topple and fall, sailing away with the impact. Many explode into ice and will not be returning to he battle.
"No," Bellos whispers. . The shaman made a dive for the staff, trying to retain control of the portal!

Flash has posed:
The staff is enormous. It is a tree. Flash, while fast, isn't really a tree-carrier power set. However, he is excellent at getting places quickly. He certainly gets to the staff well ahead of everything (including the staff itself), but doesn't try to catch it. That would have hurt. Instead, he puts force into rolling it: rolling it aside, and then dragging it. So that every time the shaman goes for it, it's not there. Just moved enough. Why stall?

"Would you strong people like to break or lift this?" Flash asks, during one of his speedy aside trips towards the heroes, before he has to relocate the tree-trunk-staff again. "Because I feel like shattering it with my vibration might kill us all."

Rogue has posed:
Once Rogue has that giant off of the pile that lets her see down into the pile at Thor's face she just offers him a big smile. "Well hey there, Goldielocks." She says down at him, but his urgency is noted and as soon as he tells her to flee she's gone like bullet out of a gun and she isn't standing at all, nope she's hovering out over the street and overtop of a city bus and a couple of yellow cabs when Thor call down his blast which makes her raise her arms up and criss-cross them over her face to shield herself from the light!

As does like... the entire city of NY who's standing off down the side streets and down the connecting streets that lead deeper into the heart of Manhattan who're recording all of this fight on their phones (The ones who haven't run off) and of course the NYPD who's trying to block things off with their special response units.

When she lowers her arms she can see that Red Rocket has gotten the staff and she hears his request but looks to Thor. "I don't know what the hell that thing is. Its all yours!" She shouts from her hovering spot over the street.

Thor has posed:
It would almost be comical were it not for the swirling mayhem all around. The way the staff rolls just a few feet ahead of the stumbling and reaching Jotun shaman. Each time the staff moves and each time the shaman rushes forwards, it slips just out of his reach. That is, until it hits the bottom of Thor's boot.
For a moment the Shaman stands face to face with the Asgardian as the Thunderer scowls up into the blue being's features. "Go back to Jotunheim, Bellos. This world is not for you. As for the Casket..." His good eye narrows, "It suffered the same fate as Asgard." Nothing further, need be said, for what conversation there could be between such dire enemies has been had...
In the next moment the staff is thrown away and past the Shaman, hurled into the whirling twisting vortex that had served to bring the assault force forwards.

Flash has posed:
"...But breaking it in the portal would-ohyou'rethrowingit," Flash observes. Flash probably isn't understood by anyone present, as the end of it was spoken just as quickly as Flash thinks when he's in this hyper speed mode. He tails the thrown staff at a superspeed 'jog', pacing the arc as it's flung, following into his own twisting vortex, and sends a potent crack of electricity through the staff, timing it for after the gem has gone into the portal. The attack should flow down the staff and shatter the crystal once it is safely through.... hopefully.

But just in case, Flash veers off at top speed after delivering the charge. No sense being in the blast zone!

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Bellos stares up at Thor, not sure if he should believe that or not. It couldn't be. It had to have been saved! Everything hinged on them getting the Casket. He realized that the man in red had been the cause of the staff reaching this point. The key to their defeat.
The woman above had torn through their ranks like so much paper. These beings were not to be taken lightly. When they returned, and they would return, they would need to be sure they planned for beings like these with powers unlike the Asgardians they had faced through their long history.
As the staff flew toward the portal, Bellos simply remained where he was before Thor. He knew what would happen when it went through that portal.
Yet, it wasn't as simple as the portal being destroyed. Instead, lightning flashed and a moment later, the stone /EXPLODED/ with a brilliant blue flash on the opposite side. As it did, the entire portal began to crack and break. It swirled with the blue energy that had been released from the stone. That energy lanced out, finding each Jotun. As it struck, they disappeared. No explosion of ice. No bodies falling to the ground. They simply vanished.
The ice and snow continued to swirl for a moment as the portal erupted with chaotic swirls of energy. Then it collapsed into itself, like a star going nova. Down to the orb that had started then there was a loud /POP/ as the pressure in the area changed, causing ears to have to adjust to the pressure change.
    It was gone.
All that was left was the ice and snow, the storm and frigid air no longer an issue as the chill from the Jotun and the portal to their world was destroyed.
