Nova Corps: Nuala and Thor are almost kidnapped!
Date of Scene: 18 February 2019
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Loki ruins Thor's awesome exit.
Cast of Characters: Nuala Duvall, Thor, Wasp (van Dyne), Vintridr, Loki

Nuala Duvall has posed:
The Sea Song isn't cloaked as it normally is, the Nova Blue and Yellow colors accenting the silver ship's sleek design as it sits on the landing pad. Given the key to the ship is her slim suit, she's wearing it currently, the violet accent lights pulsing through the lighter weight armor, and the silver band across her forehead that makes her look perhaps a little out of place among terrans, and the style isn't exactly fitting of an Asgardian either. She holds a more traditional tablet in her hands, the most powerful one she could find on the market, and rubs her temple, and lets out a frustrated curse in Astonian, and looks at the vessel.

Thor has posed:
The gleam of silver with those blue and yellow highlights stand out against the background of New Asgard. Though the city is vibrant, with touches of colour, it is primarily crafted from marble, granite, and whitestone that catch the early morning sunlight as it peeks over the mountainous range to the East.
To most it is the start of yet just another day. The work crews have gathered and moved out, the quarry sings with the sound of voices raised in song while the chiming ring of hammer and chisel do their work. Bjarke stands in the chieftain's tent, speaking to the teamleaders. A group of rangers prepare to sally out and take the measure of the surrounding land, heading into the brilliant forest of seemingly ancient trees that sprung forth from the efforts of Asgard's magicians.
In the city proper people tend to their tasks, and for their leader known as Thor... it is much the same way.
"Hello?" An alarm most likely lets Nuala know of the monarch's approach. His footfalls even and his hesitation seen just at where the landing ramp would be. Garbed in the tunic and breeks of his people, Mjolnir is not at his hip so he looks more a laborer than a noble, despite his bearing.
    "Lady Duvall?"

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
New Asgard isn't exactly a hop skip and a jump away. It's a fair bit of flying to get from New York to the northern climes. A QuinJet could do it in a few minutes at a blistering hypersonic speed; a personal airplane like the Ferris Air Starline IV takes a few hours to get there.

Which is probably why Thor might not immediately place Janet's piping voice behind him. "How the hell did you get here so fast?" she demands, flabbergasted. "I took off yesterday afternoon and we only just got here! Did you borrow a Quinjet?" she demands, suspiciously. "I thought we all agreed those weren't for personal use!" She's dressed either for the Nordic cold or for an Eddie Bauer catalogue; a short-hemmed leather jacket, pleated tartan skirt, leggings, and thigh-high grey boots. Her earmuffs are comical little pink powderpuffs on either side of her head and lightweight winter gloves protrude from her jacket pocket.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala didn't pay much attention to the alert from the ship. Everything is in disarray due the tests and systems being only part online as she has been trying to decifer all of the blueprints. She's been at it since quite before dawn, and a large panel is currently on the floor of the pad, exposing several cables. She turns around to see the monarch, but before she answers, the voice of Janet pipes up behind him.
"Your majesty," she says, a tone far less casual than Janet's. She looks at Janet, and smiles. "It only took me a few minutes to get here," she comments. She lacks the same warm wear that Janet's style boasts, and her nose is a little red to show it.

Thor has posed:
"Friend Janet," Thor's smile is warm as he turns to see her, then his eyebrows raise as he realizes what she's saying. "Ah, I should have mentioned!" He claps his hands together and rubs them a bit even as his breath is a plume of steam he seems terribly warm and at ease in the chill, despite the snow and ice on the edges of the settlement.
"With our bond to our homeland growing some of our magic has returned. I was able to bring myself home instantly." If only he had thought to tell her about it, she could have come along as well. "Fear not," He offers, clearly to mollify any concerns. "I shall take you back in such a manner whenever you so wish." He straightens up, "Though assuredly you shall stay and grace us with your presence for the next month at the least?"
    Asgardians.
He turns back to Nuala, "I am come to ask if there is aught you need in your efforts?" Thor tilts his head as he lets his good eye shift to gaze beyond the alien-raised woman, then back to her. "Harald has volunteered his efforts if you can make use of another pair of hands."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"A month? Thor, I *have* a life outside the Avengers," Janet reminds him, dry-voiced. "Y'know. Business. Work. Dating. I'm a little on the, uh..." She watches a pair of Asgardians walking past. "Petite side to be hanging around here."

She gives his bicep an affectionate squeeze and looks at Nuala. Looks to Thor. Waits a beat. Rolls her eyes and glides forward to offer a politely feminine handshake to Nuala. "I'm Janet van Dyne," she tells Nuala, introducing herself. "It's nice to meet you-- are you visiting New Asgard too?"

Nuala Duvall has posed:
"If he understands more than I do about Plasma rated transfer cables," Nuala says grimly. "The best cooling units available on the market would still explode within seconds at best, and there are no alloys available to handle the energy transfer required for the thrusters, let alone the hyperdrive." She waves the tablet futiley. "And data storage? In earth terms it is a pettabyte for just the operating system, and the database library would be larger than the ship in digital format. They haven't even discovered quantum data engineering yet on this planet. Not to mention that knowing how to work on spacecraft doesn't necessarily translate to being able to transpose blueprints. I've been at it for weeks and-" she freezes. She's doing that rambling thing again.
Janet's response gives her a chance to let her mentally reset herself, she was even talking over her for part of it.

There is an edge that seems to appear in her face as Janet gives Thor's bicep a squeeze, and she makes a quick glance back at him and then to her again, as if she's uncertain how to respond to it before Janet introduces herself. "I am Nuala Duvall," she says. She's seen Janet on the battlefield once or twice, but she was a lot smaller then, and it was mostly over comms. She returns the handshake, mildly formal in her response. "It is a pleasure."

Thor has posed:
"Ah, of course, forgive me." Thor steps back and to the side, keeping Janet's arm upon his as he makes a sweeping gesture, "For some reason I had thought you both knew each other." He indicates Nuala and says, "Lady Duvall earned her place amongst us from her efforts in our time of need. She is one of us now and held in high esteem as a true hero."
He in turn looks towards Nuala, "And indeed, Lady Van Dyne is a long time comrade who has fought by my side in the Avengers. With no small skill in the crafting of exquisite garments."
A nod is given as if he had solidified the introductions properly, then rests his hand upon Janet's. Of course when some of the guardsmen walk past one of them catches Janet's eye and offers a smile to her, for indeed the people of Asgard have long held such affection for those of Earth.
But then the Thunderer offers reply to the words given regarding Harald. "I fear not, nay. But he would be eager to learn and has a strong back if there is aught that needs fetched, carried, or lifted."
There's a beat, however, as Thor considers her latter words. "I could have one of our Runecraters speak with you? They may be able to offer ways to aid you. Though I admit such knowledge eludes me."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet's handshake is the sort of thing honed by years of fencing among East Coast elitists. Not so weak as to be disdainful but hardly qualifying as a forceful grip, either. "Duvall-- Nuala Duvall," Janet remarks with pleasure. "That's right. I'm terrible with names, I'm so sorry I didn't place you right away," she remarks. The socialite rolls her eyes self-deprecatingly. "Wonderful to meet you formally of course." She drifts back a half pace and settles back in next to Thor, still casually hanging onto his arm. For balance reasons, of course. Though perhaps she's standing a *touch* closer to him than propriety would strictly permit, with a ghosting hint of feline possessiveness. Flighty and impetuous Janet might be, but Nuala's flickering disappointment doesn't go missed, either.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
There is another beat, and Nuala seems to mentally disconnect for a moment as she watches Janet's interaction. She may have little understanding of human customs, but certain things seem to translate all the same. When she restarts, she says, "Yes, I see," she looks for words, then settles on the hyperdrive problem again. "He may have more knowledge than I do, and your runecrafters may be able to come up with a solution that I would certainly be out of my deep on." The small gramatical error is an occasional occurance for Nuala, most often when she is distracted from focusing on her English skills. "There is no way to maintain the heating insulation necessary for the energy transfer for the hyperdrive." Yes, she just said that, but doesn't seem to notice that she just repeated information.

"His majesty is very kind talking about me," she says in response to her introduction. "I just have done what I can." She bounces subjects, as if abandoning ship verbally. "No word from Nova yet," she says. "They will at least want their ship back," she says. "And armor. And uniforms. And weaponry. So I am trying my best to find a way to make an earth equivalent to the Sea Song. I do not imagine they will be deliberating their course much longer. Hopefully that is all they will demand back."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Nova Corps. Oh. Oh!" Janet bounces once on her toes of her boots, the heels *clicking* into the hard surface underfoot when she lands. "That's right! Those were the ones who blew up the thing, on the lawn, and then Thor and Carol got in an argument about them?" she inquires, helpfully.

Abruptly she turns and *pinches* at Thor's arm. Probably more emotionally painful than physically so. "Also, you two are friends, and you need to make up and be nice to each other," she huffs at Thor. "Call Carol up and get a ... beer or whatever it is you types do, and arm wrestle or make out and get over it."

She looks at Nuala and heaves a sigh of exasperation, shaking her head as if looking for sympathy (or support).

Thor has posed:
Thor is all set to protest, his free hand coming up and Nuala can see the obstinance in his one good eye. But he is not exactly a commander of all conversations so her gambit to change topics works entirely on him. "I trust to your wisdom in this then, but if they require you to not spread your technology then best we not risk their reprisal."
The tall blonde man turns to consider Janet as if seeking her support in this matter, for clearly who could disagree on this, then he turns back towards Nuala. "What is most important is that you maintain your liberty with us here." The technology is less important to him.
Of course that's the moment when the Winsome Wasp leaps on her toes and then _pinches_ Thor's arm, who at the least has the good nature to feign a look of pain as he listens to her sidelong. His brow furrows, "I have no quarrel with Carol." He looks confused for a moment, "We may battle at some point if matters come to a head. But she is still dear to me."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala takes an awkward moment of glancing between Janet and Thor. She nods, "That is the most important," she concedes, her voice trailing a little. She reaches up, and touches the side of the silver band that crosses her forehead, and it slides away and retracts into the slim suit. Her eye twitches a little as that psionic nerve becomes exposed to the thoughts of the people around her.

"I am not sure I have met Carol," she comments. "Is she another Avenger?" She takes a deep breath again, considering the names that are being introduced to her, and the comment of 'making out'. "Making out, is that a duel of some sort?" she asks Janet, seeming genuinely unfamiliar and going with the theme of the rest of her suggestions.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Captain Marvel?" Janet remarks. "Tall, gorgeous, halfway okay despite being a blonde?" Janet supplies, helpfully. She holds her hand up near Thor's temple in a gross overestimation of Carol's height. "That's Carol."

She gives Thor's arm a reassuring squeeze at his prompted look, though a second later she's rolling her eyes at his remark about coming to blows. Nuala's question prompts a burst of laughter from the petite fashionista, merry and infectious. She covers her mouth politely, barely concealing a megawatt grin. "Well, it's a *kind* of duel," she says, eyes dancing. "Y'know. Except everyone wins in the end!" She laughs again at her own inside joke. Her thoughts are flittering and elusive, less concealed than simply frenetically impulsive. She keeps multiple trains of thought going at once, and there's a juxtaposition of haughty arrogance and bubbling cheer, with a posessiveness of Thor's person and a little envy of Nuala's calm Nordic mien and physique. Much like her namesake, she's not one who takes well to being deterered or having her 'territory' intruded on..

Thor has posed:
When perceived by a telepath, Thor's thoughts are not rapid fire. Nor are they particularly slow, but while people have a steady stream of mild reflections... his are these shining beacons of usually such total conviction that they might be disconcerting at first. "Aye," He says, "She is another Avenger, though her other responsibilities has put us at odds.
And in his thoughts, // 'Aye. She's an Avenger. Though her other responsibilities have put us at odds. // And the image of her manifests in his mind, depicting her in a heroic pose with a warm smile upon her features.
But then Janet lifts her voice and his attention shifts to her, his regard falling on her and Nuala can catch the way he views her. A youthful sister-like teammate whom he trusts entirely with her advice, particularly about fashion. When she laughs he offers a small exhaled half-chuckle, though it's clear... he doesn't quite get the joke.
Turning back to Nuala he smiles and adds, "In any case, I shall see to getting one of the elders to come and share words with you."
//I shall see to getting one of the elders to share words with her.//
"Though it is near the mid-day meal, will you join us and break bread?"
//It is near the mid-day meal, I hope she will join us and break bread.//
A glance is spared towards Janet as if to seek her approval of this plan, then turns a warm smile back towards Nuala... and in that moment she might well see her as Thor sees her. Tall, as beautiful as he holds both Janet and Carol in such esteem and clear respect for their heroism and conviction. Idealized, perhaps, but such is Thor's outlook.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala gives a slight knit of her brow at Janet, looking puzzled for a moment, and a slightly content smile passes her face as her attention passes back to Thor. She taps the collar of her suit again, and just as the silver band re-engages, she catches the mental image of Janet's joke, only a split second, and her eyes go wide. She looks back at the ship a second to gain her composure. "Yes, perhaps that would be a good idea," she agrees with Thor. "It would be a welcome break. I will set Timmy to start searching for a solution to find earthborne replacements for some of the components." She moves up the ship's ramp, and goes the access panel to reconnect Timmy.

"Hello Nuala, it's good to be back," the AI tells her.
"Good to have you back, Timmy," she answers. "The engines are disconnected intentionally, I'm trying to determine what would be the proper solution if we needed to secure a replacement for the primary and secondary energy transfer lines. Could you look into that?"
"Of course, I will start the query now."

Nuala jogs back down the line, "There we go," she says, "Hopefully Timmy will be able to help with a solution, and I'll just take him off line again after the analysis is complete, and perhaps your runecrafters will be able to help with the data challenges."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"She's, uh... she's not from around here, is she?" Janet asks Thor, when Nuala jogs back towards her ship. "I mean she's nice," she hastens to add. It's obvious that Thor holds Nuala in high regard. "And she looks human. But you look human. IS she human?"

"~~Are we human, or are we dancers~," she sings without waiting for Thor to respond, watching Nuala coming back to them. "My sign is vital... my hands are cold~~" She smiles at Nuala again in a friendly manner. "I hope they fix your ship up," Janet tells the Nordic beauty. "I'm afraid that I don't know anything about engineering. Tony might, though!" she offers, helpfully. "He's very smart."

Vintridr has posed:
As the sun rises to its apex, the noises from New Asgard change -- the grunts and calls of men and women working or training shift to sounds of cheers and laughter as Asgardians lay down their tasks and head to the central dining halls. The scents of bread and honey and smoked and baked fish suffuse the air, reminding all present that it's been a while since they last ate.

The midday meals seem to be an informal affair, of the "find an empty space, sit down, and eat and drink" variety, -- friends and families tend to cluster together, but for the most part anyone is welcome at any table.

A group of enthusiastic youngsters comes running down the path to the practice areas, followed by a - to Thor, at least - familiar figure moving at a slightly more sedate pace, an almost gently indulgent smile on her lips as she keeps an eye on the children. As she draws level with Thor and his companions, Vintridr nods. "My lord Thor. Lady Duval, Lady Wasp. Welcome to New Asgard. Will you be eating with us?"

Thor has posed:
"Aye," Thor offers in response, "But her tale is her own to grant the telling." Having said that Thor shoots a smirk sidelong towards his long time teammate then lifts his good eye back to Nuala at her return.
Turning to walk with them in the direction of the settlement proper, Thor smiles to them both and gives Janet's hand a squeeze as they start their stroll. It's a bit of a ways from the landing strip back toward the homesteads and marketplace of the city proper, just a long paved road that wends its way up the hillside with small piles of snow from the clearing heaped on either side of it.
In response to Nuala he says, "Very well, I'll go speak with them and be sure you have the help you need." Then he looks to Janet and says, "And assuredly I can convince you to stay at the least a week? There are many who would speak with you and hear what tales you would tell." Perhaps even that young guardsman who sought to catch her eye.
It's in that moment, however, that they reach the settlement. The young Asgadians rush past and Thor turns to the side to let tem run on by. He smirks a touch then turns back and offers greeting, "Good Vintridr. I place these worthies in your charge for now. I am off to speak with the Runecasters."
Back to Janet and Nuala he lowers his head in a hint of apology. "I shall return shortly. Until then, enjoy our hospitaltiy." He turns back and moves off further into the settlement, though he takes a moment to thump a man on the back as he passes, exchanging a few japes as he moves amongst the crowd then beyond.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet smiles at Nuala. "It was nice to meet you, offically," she tells the other woman. "I hope you get your ship running as well. I need to pester Thor about something, though-- hopefully we can catch up later?" she requests, and sounds sincerely apologetic about it.

"Thor! Wait up!" she takes a step towards the departing monarch and flickers out of sight, buzzing towards him and then alighting on his shoulder, barely barbie-doll sized and nattering in his ear about something probably far more urgent to Janet than it is to anyone else.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala smiles, "Thanks, your majesty," she responds, following to the dining hall. She trails a mild distance behind Thor and Janet, and smiles when Vin acknowledges them. "Vin," she says with a smile, "It is good to see you. I would love to eat with you," she says.
As Thor excuses himself, she winces, "I fear I may have tasked your king with an errand," she says, "I did not mean to make him skip lunch for it." With his back turned, the less forma Nuala seems to arrive, and she gives an affectionate smile after him. "He said the runecrafters may be able to help me craft a surrogate ship," she says, "for when Nova Corps claims the Sea Song," she adds.

Vintridr has posed:
Vintridr laughs. "Fear not, Lady Duval, my lord Thor won't go hungry from a missed meal. He'll sup when he's completed his task and enjoy the meal all the more for having earned it."

"You're fair certain that's what they'll decide, then?" she asks, sobering as she guides the woman to a mostly free table and sets a basket of bread in front of the both of them. "I suppose they've good reason - for much the same reason we chose to scuttle the ship that brought us here. Too many of Midgard's governments would covet it - and not enough would tolerate any /but/ themselves gaining it..."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala nods, "If I am fortunate," she says, "They will only request the technology back." She gives a wry smile. "If I am not so fortunate, they will insist on my court martial. Thor has stalled them at least, declaring that he will not tolerate them taking me from the planet. I do not want him declaring war on just my behalf though." She pauses, "I have to admit, it is rather...noble of him to declare such." The look on her face says that noble is an understatement of her admiration for his declaration.

Vintridr has posed:
"It is not - or not merely - nobility that guides his actions in this," Vintridr replies with a fond smile. "You spoke on our behalf when we were in great need of someone to speak for us. More than that, your current difficulty with the Nova Corps stems directly from that."

She waves away Nuala's protest with a hand before it even begins. "No, it matters not that you considered it no more than your duty; you aided us when we needed it; we would be much less than we are if we declined to honor that debt."

"... Although truth be told, I suspect the Nova Corps is not going to insist on your arrest in this situation. The diplomatic repercussions would be... Severely out of proportion compared to what it would be worth to them. It will likely cost you your job and your vessel... But probably no more than that."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala nods, "I feel it is a juvenile concern," she says. "To value my position with Nova Corps almost as highly as my freedom. I must seem to behave like a child." She shakes her head, sitting down at the table. "It is like losing my identity. It is the only life I've ever known, I am not sure that I am suited for much else." She wraps her thumb and fingers on the heavy wooden table, and seems not to notice when there is an orange flashing light that emits on the outside of her right wrist, primarily because she has just put her chin in that same hand, and cannot see it.

Vintridr has posed:
Vintridr shakes her head. "Hardly," she replies. "As you say - Nova Corps has been a deep part of who you are and how you see yourself for a large portion of your life. To lose it... A deep wound, indeed."

Her expression darkens with some remembered pain of her own. "Yet sometimes the Fates call upon us to examine ourselves, and we find ourselves faced with having to choose between what we've held dear for a long time, and what is /right/ -- and we each of us pray that we'll have the strength to make that same choice even as we pray that we'll never have to face it."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala nods, and puts her hand back down to join the first, "You're probably ri--" she stops, spotting the orange flashing light on her wrist, then suddenly lets loose a few alien words that are best left untranslated. "There is no way that the signal could have reached them that fast outside of system," she says, standing abruptly to her feet. Without another word, she stamps to her feet, "Sorry, I need-" she doesn't finish the sentence, but takes off in a sprint back toward the landing strip as fast as her legs will carry her, and likely garnering a little bit of attention, knees high.

Thor has posed:
It only takes the man ten, fifteen minutes worth of time to head off to the Mystic's quarter and find the man to whom he would speak. Then another five of discussion before he makes his way back. Some time is often spared to greet those he passes, to listen to a few tales of concern and offer some small touch of insight. But then he makes it back to the town square with the many long tables.
First he is likely seen in the distance, but then he saunters close and starts to speak to them both...
Only for Nuala to rush off in that moment even as Thor is in mid-reach for the bread basket. "Lady Duvall?" He turns to cock a quizzical eyebrow in Vintridr's direction then with a small shrug he turns and breaks into a run after her.
Though he does hold out a hand to the side, palm open as he strides.

Vintridr has posed:
Vintridr is no stranger to sudden emergencies, and is only half a step behind Nuala -- pausing only barely long enough to snag a loaf of bread out of the nearest basket to hand it to Thor. "Unless I'm mistaken, my Lord, the Nova Corps has returned."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala bursts down the large hallways, and out to the landing strip. "I gotta disconnect Timmy," she says, "Nova is patching in to issue commands through him," she calls out as she reaches the ship. "I should not have reconnected him." She bursts up the ramp. "<Authorization Duvall Bravo Three Four Six Nine, disengage emergency override. Reason, ship engine integrity,>" she announces in Xandarian.
"I am sorry, Nuala," Timmy answers in Xthe same tongue. "Your authorization is revoked. Please disengage from the slim suit unit and prepare for transport.

"Timmy, I said disengage engines, the transfer cable is unhooked the ship will be destroyed along with half the city!"
She says this in English so that any who may be following her can be brought in the loop.
"<Condition is minor, self-repair is able to reconnect the cable.>" Timmy confirms.

Thor has posed:
Perhaps looking a touch comical as he /runs/ after Nuala with his arm held out to the side, Thor's brow furrows as he listens and shoots a dour look towards Vintridr, the sentiment passing between them nigh unto instantly likely when she mentions the city being half-destroyed. The city must not come to harm, no matter what.
Then as they rush towards the landing strip, just over the hillside in the direction of the quarry, Mjolnir can be seen briefly as a gleam of bright metal and then rushes the distance to land sharply into Thor's hand with a metallic /WHOM/ of sound.
No break in stride, he calls out, "Tell us what must be done, Nuala!"

Vintridr has posed:
Vintridr follows on Thor's heels. "If I've understood her correctly, either prevent the engines from engaging, repair the transfer cables -- or ensure that the ship is well away from the city when it explodes."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
"I'll try to disable Timmy, I need the engines offline," Nuala calls out, reaching into the access panel to disconnect the AI. A small forcefield erects, shocking her as she tries to force the disconnect. "Ack!" she grunts. "Timmy!" She punches the side paneling. "Shut it down!"

"The ship is in within normal operating standards," Timmy answers, this time in English, adapting to the situation. "Please do not interfere. It is being reclaimed in accordance with Nova Regulation 2553.564 in keeping with standard procedure for an inaccessible piece of Nova equipment. Former Agent Duvall, please remove your armor and place it in the designated cleaning receptical."

Thor has posed:
Naturally as the small field flashes to life and shocks Nuala, Thor brandishes Mjolnir but he looks first towards Nuala to gauge if such actions are needed. "It seems they have chosen their path." He lowers his hand, the hammer making that subtle 'whom' as it moves.
Shooting a look towards Vintridr, Thor then turns back to consider the former Nova and he murmurs, "Is there danger to the settlement in this? If so we shall have to act, Nuala."

Vintridr has posed:
"What exactly is 'standard procedure for an inaccessible piece of equipment', Timmy?" Vintridr asks almost conversationally while she studies the ship's interior, looking for recently repaired power lines or anything else that looks like it might cause a shutdown if sliced through...

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala looks at Thor, then at Vin, and back to Thor. It looks as if she wants to say something, but it takes a second as the engines start to spin up.

"No," she says, choosing the path of truth. "I tried to use an excuse for Timmy not to take off.

"Unauthorized personell on board," Timmy answers Vintridr. "Exit or be faced with necessary repellent measures.

The engines whir. She isn't sure if the measures would mean much to the God of Thunder or any other Asgardian, but she'd rather not find out. "We better get off the ship."

Vintridr has posed:
Vintridr looks at Thor. "Perhaps the Nova Corps could be persuaded not to destroy this ship if it's given back to them..." she suggests, already walking down the exit ramp.

Thor has posed:
For a moment Thor's features shift into a scowl, not caring to be threatened by anything, let alone a machine. He looks askance towards Vintridr, then quirks an eyebrow behind that strapless eye-patch as he shifts his attention back toward Nuala. "If you feel that is for the best." He gives a nod toward Vintridr for her to perhaps precede them, then he'll motion for Nuala to follow as well.
"We shall address this as we can, Lady Duvall. Deprived of your equipment you are still a hero and at your liberty. And there is much to be said for such." With that offered he'll follow up only after Nuala is exiting the craft.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala nods, moving to exit the ship. Hastily she starts to leave, heading back through the main cabin for the ramp when there is a sudden jolt that cracks through the air. She spasms, though the source is not seen. The jolt sends her up against the cabin wall, and she falls toward the ground. Whatever hit her, it was enough to knock her out cold.

"Asgardians, please exit the ship and leave Nuala Duvall, she must be detained for legal processing." Timmy's voice comes over the speakers. "Exit the vessel now."

Vintridr has posed:
Vintridr turns as she hears Nuala fall, her face twisting with anger. "If Nova Corps wishes to retrieve her, they can petition New Asgard for her extradition /as per diplomatic procedure/," she snarls, drawing her blade and ramming it through the nearest power conduit that she can see.

Thor has posed:
Features sharpening, Thor rounds and moves as soon as Nuala is zapped with that bright jolt. He rushes to her side, hammer in hand but his free hand reaching under her back and holding her to him. There's a flicker of energy from Mjolnir as the head of the hammer /flares/ with fiery energy and outside, from an overcast sky, a lightning bolt lashes out and downwards, striking the entirety of the ship.
He rises, starting to twirl Mjolnir in his hand as he growls low, "I say to thee Timothy, nay." He holds up the hammer again and another blast lashes out. With those two strikes he moves quickly towards the ramp, perhaps hoping it will buy them enough time to get her clear.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
As Vin's sword pierces the conduit, there is a flicker in the lights, and a powerful jolt of electricity coarses through the blade to knock her back, unconscious against the opposite wall of the ship.
The crackle of Thor's pulsing blast shatters the coffee pot, spilling old cold coffee across the ground, and dances across the comm system, shorting it out. The armory over Nuala's Shell Suit slams shut around it, hiding it from sight and replacing it with a smooth metal cylindrical cover.
The ship interior suddenly goes dark for a moment, and the emergency system activates, shutting all of the interior doors, including the interior airlock door, which clamps shut just prior to the ramp. The blackness is replaced by a rebooting light system, and the feel of the ship taking off becomes apparent, the motion compensating dampeners out of commission, the burst of speed from the Sea Song takes it out of the landing strip, and then it curls upward toward the sky.

Loki has posed:
"I did suggest you find some adventure and beat it up as you are so prone to enjoying, but if you're taking a vacation, the least you could do is /warn/ everyone that I'll need to step in, so it isn't seen in an inappropriate light," comments Loki out of nowhere, to Thor. He appeared on the ship, eyebrows raised, in one of the unoccupied chairs.

Loki himself does appear as himself, no shapeshifting at the moment, in his most usual dark green leather garb. The lights flashing and the lightning and the other problems don't seem to overly concern the mischief-maker as he arrives to, presumably, make bad things worse. Or to help. It really does vary.

A glow of subtle violet and blue shielding around the elusive mage buffers his appearance, and suggests he might actually be there.

Thor has posed:
Rushing down the center of the ship, Thor carries Nuala's unconscious form in one arm even as his footfalls /thud/ heavily upon the ship cabin's floor. "Loki!" He rounds for a moment, "They seek to kidnap Nuala in the course of regaining their ship." Quick words delivered in that military sharp staccato.
Closing the distance with the prone form of Vintridr, Thor sets Nuala upon one of the nearby seats and then makes sure that the valkyrie yet lives. "We need to get them free of here, the ship is no matter."
Lifting Mjolnir in the direction of his brother he says quickly, "Protect them as I attempt to strike the door down!" And as he says this he moves towards the usual place of egress, Mjolnir drawing back in his strong arm and then lashing forwards heavily, the head of the weapon glowing with the white light of the God-Force, Thor's very life channeled into the ancient mallet and blazing with that light. A light met with the lash of lightning again from on high, licking at the hull of the ship with the impact.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
The god-force strikes the airlock, superheating the surface. The alien construction is strong, but it has it's limits, and the airlock door pulses out, slamming against the outter airlock door, and warping the metal on that.
The response from Timmy is to put the ship into a spin as it rockets straight up, heading for the upper atmosphere, a maneuver which throws both Vin and Nuala into the air.

"Warning," Timmy says, "Breach detected in airlock door. Engaging emergency forcefield to prevent cabin decompression. Hyperjump capabilities disabled."

As he speaks, a flicker of energy can be seen to replace where the door previously stood, highlighted by a white light around the edges. On the other side of the field rests the wreckage of the first airlock door, laying haphazardly on the outer airlock door. It doesn't look like it has a serious integrity breach of its own. Not yet at least.

Loki has posed:
"What, no 'please'?" Loki asks, obnoxious as always in the face of actual problems. Then again, they aren't really Loki's problems. What does HE care about Nuala, anyway? Loki does get up and cross to look at the Valkyrie, though, bending over her and taking a good look, extending a hand with a mild glow weaving in a swirl of light purple and pink across his fingers. Then everything lurches, and Loki appears to grab onto something, but isn't flung.

"If you don't care about the ship, a portal seems easier," Loki says in his overly calm way, but loud enough to project, as if there were zero danger, just noise.

"Ugh, rapidly moving targets, though. Let me get a beacon on here, in case you get out of range or stealth..." With a yank of magic, he flings a quick object with a slingshot of teleportation up into the ship, to serve as a beacon. It won't do if he can't find the ship later! It is a metallic shipping box with wooden sides and a latch, brought in near the Valkyrie, containing one of Loki's stronger magical waypoint markers. Necessary for the moving, long distance target.

Thor has posed:
The ship twists in the air, causing Nuala and Vintridr to be tossed around even as Thor tries to brace himself with one hand pushing against the ceiling of the vessel, his legs holding strong against the bottle. Yet he sways back and forth, only able to stagger to the side and catch Nuala's arm before she smacks her forehead against a support.
"Aye, Loki! Brilliant!" Not that it was really. "Get them out! I'll follow along once they're clear."
Mjolnir /whoms/ as he reaches forwards and uses it to lock into a bit of the superstructure to help him hold on.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
As the atmosphere outside grows thinner, it does not seem that Loki is prohibited by anything on the ship from doing as he pleases regarding his magic portal strategy. The ship hits the thin air, thin enough that humans require pressure suits in order to be outside, and spinning abruptly stops as the ship reorients itself toward the four Nova ships that have repositioned themselves in orbit. "Rendevous with Nova unit achieved. Direct remote control has been established. Opening line. "Nuala Duvall," the voice of the officer from Thor's previous encounter comes over the line. "You will relinquish all postures of defense, and detain yourself in your quarters until we board the ship," he says. Clearly, he's unaware that Nuala is currently unconscious,

Loki has posed:
"Don't patronize me. Your lack of appreciation of how difficult doing this actually is never ceases to sadden me," Loki grumbles, as his body flickers a little around the edges, at least until the beacon has fully appeared. Then the illusion (because no, Loki wasn't going to just get on a death ship) stabilizes. Above the beacon's box a rip in the air begins to form, while Loki pretends not to sweat. Moving ship at range makes portals weird. "Just a minute," Loki finally says, sounding very put-upon, and the illusion disappears, the rip closing.

A minute of probably suspecting Loki left them to sweat (or appreciate him properly) later, the portal expands with sudden healthy power, stable and intense. The other side reveals a grassy pasture, recognizable as an area south of the Asgardian's settlements. Loki is present on the other side, in a churning pillar of magic. "If you throw them at my head, I'll close it and cut you in half," Loki asserts dryly.

Thor has posed:
"Make sure no harm befalls them, Loki." Yet more orders, the jerk. But time is pressing. As the portal flickers to life in the confines of the ship, Thor turns his head hearing the remote voice speaking to Nuala even though she is unable to answer. He moves across the cabin and takes up Nuala's prone form, pushing her through Loki's portal and handing her off to Loki, causing the eldritch energy to flare with that abrupt rise in power.
Then it is Vintridr's turn as he guides her through as well after making sure she has her blade intact and sheathed. He then rises to his full height and glowers in the direction of the cockpit where the voices come from and he answers with a growl, "You have made a mistake this day, Xandarian."
And with that said he'll follow through the portal as well...

Nuala Duvall has posed:
As Thor leaps through the portal, the chaos of the speeding and damaged Sea Song is left behind, and in the sky the only sign of its existence is the fading contrails from the pressure change where the ship sped into the sky
As she's handed off to Loki, Nuala starts to come to, conveniently of course. "What?" She instinctively reacts as if under attack, twisting to attempt at an elbow sternum strike against Loki's chest to free herself.

Loki has posed:
Loki was in the middle of handling Nuala AND holding open a moving portal. So yes, he was sweating, although he had hidden it with illusion. He didn't expect one of his rescued people to attack him, let alone while he was starting to put her down and look towards the Valkyrie. Loki takes the slam in the chest and immediately, reflexively, flings her back towards the portal alongside where Thor is, in an automatic and very swift reaction, a snarl on his lips.

And then, one hand tips backwards, wrist curling, fingers flaring in the magical spell, ready to cut off the portal while she's in the middle of it, if necessary, and she decides to come after him....

Thor has posed:
Of course it's just as Thor is delivering his bone-chilling and serious threat to the Nova Corps that when he turns around and moves into the portal... when abruptly Nuala is /thrown/ into him and he stumble steps half in and half out of the portal. "Bor's Blood!" It takes him a moment to reach out and try to catch her, missing at first but he manages to get a grip and through the barrier his terribly awesome exit line ruined by his cursing and scowling.
The next instant they're both out and back in Loki's presence as Thor says quickly, "Loki!" He looks back in the direction of the portal, then back to her. "What was that about?"

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala finds herself free, only to land in Thor's arms immediately afterward. She grips him in a clenching hold, then looks back at Loki, then up to Thor. Well, this is an awkward position. Her face turns a little red, and she seems to freeze, not quite engaging the conversation yet.

Loki has posed:
Loki watches Thor and Nuala in the center of the portal. A movement of a finger and they'd be in two places. And in pieces. The fancy does flutter in his angry, hurt solar plexus (aka his pride), but he doesn't do it, doesn't actually act to try to kill them. The long fingers relax slowly.

But it did occur to him. He'll have to mull over what it meant later. He closes the portal once they're through it.

He rolls his eyes and brushes imaginary lint off his tunic. "She wanted to stay there, apparently," Loki comments dryly, staring at Nuala. "I'm /Prince/ Loki, your rescuer today," he states coolly to Nuala. He looks down at the Valkyrie by his feet, who ended up in kind of a tumble since Loki was busy with Nuala's reaction. He moves a foot under her to tip her slowly back onto her back, without actually bending over. "She's alive," he reports.

Thor has posed:
In that grassy field now, and with no sign of the ship even high above them, Thor frowns as he lowers his gaze from looking off into the distance... back to the others there. He kneels besides Vintridr and checks her vitals, even as some distance off a group of guardsmen are rushing towards them from the settlement proper.
He then turns to Nuala and he says gravely, "Lady Duvall, they tried to seize you. We were able to wrest you from their grip but I fear more efforts will come."
A beat, then he adds. "And they have your ship."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala straightens herself as she is returned to the ground, clearing her throat. "My apologies, Prince," she says. "I was disoriented." She looks up, seeing the fading trails of the ship, and purses her lips in a nod. "They have what they most wanted," she says. She lets herself take a deep breath. "It can't be helped." It's an almost forced formal response to the situation. The only thing she retains is the Slim Suit she is wearing. "I'm sorry for the trouble," she apologizes, despite the numerous contentions that the Asgardians will gladly help her. "I do not know if they will put more effort in. If they tried to execute a maneuver like this, they are worried that they will not be able to reach a consensus legally. It looks like I will be stranded on Earth," she comments.

Loki has posed:
"I have a magical beacon on the ship; someone didn't bother to grab it on his way back." Loki glances at Thor but doesn't judge: it isn't like Thor knows magic enough to have known to have picked it up. "So I /can/ send you back there if you prefer. Or send an explosive," Loki says promptly, amused, when Nuala comments about being stranded. Of all the people present, it does appear that Loki's going to be the one those 'sorry for the trouble' apologies should be aimed at. He's chilly, at best.

He squats by the Valkyrie, some subtle magic issuing out of one hand. He's probably stabilizing her.

Thor has posed:
"We have much to speak on, Lady Duvall." He looks towads Loki, then back to the alien-raised human. "This is a violation of our sovereignty. It cannot go unpunished."
With that said the guards arrive and he motions them to be of help to the others. He shoots a look to Loki that likely speaks volumes between the two brothers, but to the others offers little insight.
"Come, there is much to do."
