Do They Have Ice Cream on Mars
Date of Scene: 10 May 2019
Location: Baskin Robbins - Salem, New York
Synopsis: Blink introduces J'onn to Lorna over ice cream. Carrie Kelley drops by and also meets the Genoshan mutant.
Cast of Characters: Blink, Polaris, Martian Manhunter, Carrie Kelley

Blink has posed:
Clarice had mentioned to J'onn that she wanted him to meet Princess Lorna. J'onn would be familiar enough from Clarice's thoughts that Lorna is Magneto's daughter, and princess of Genosha, the mutant homeland off the east coast of Africa. Also Clarice looks up to the royal family in general. While she looks up to Lorna as well, that the green-haired mutant has befriended Clarice to the extent she has means a lot to Clarice.

Clarice had told Lorna she had met someone that she'd like Lorna to meet. And that she thought Lorna would like to get to know him, at that. There was a bit of a gleam in the purple-haired mutant's eyes, and a smile, that suggested it is some sort of a surprise. And she mentioned the meeting place was the ice cream shop in Salem Center. So it's a win all around.

Clarice would arrange to meet J'onn there, and then open a portal for herself and Lorna to step into town somewhere unobtrusive to the human population. "Just around the corner here," she says as she leads the way out of the alley and over to the front door of Baskin Robbins. Clarice is wearing a pair of jeans and long sleeve blouse. She has on little touches of makeup, which Lorna has probably only rarely seen her wear. And her purple hair looks like she spent far more time on it than normal, leaving it to fall about her shoulders instead of pulling it back like normal. She'll open the door for the royal before following her in to look for J'onn.

Polaris has posed:
Meeting someone new could mean a great many things in Lorna's experience. From new significant others, to would be allies, people seeking her aid or even those that wanted to discuss political matters one on one. But the green haired woman trusted Clarice and when asked, she'd cleared her schedule and set about getting ready to go. It was warmer outside than in the ice cream shop proper, and Lorna felt the chill of the AC as she stepped inside with a soft clip of her heels as she entered. As Clarice opened the door, a green eyebrow hooked upwards, but Lorna bit off the dry remark about being perfectly capable of opening doors on her own. Instead the young woman shook her head slightly.

"Your hair and makeup looks good." She offered dryly, trying to gauge how the magenta haired woman's reaction as she passed.

For her part, Lorna hadn't exactly 'dressed up' they were going to an ice cream shop after all. Not Parliament. A pair of well tailored skinny jeans, high heels and a loose fitting tank top of floral patterns worked well enough. Her long green curls flowed freely around her shoulders as she moved.

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn is sitting quietly at a corner table, just casually looking around and wayting for Clarice and Lorna to arrive. He is currently in the human shape that Clarice knows too, why complicating things with a new form after all? And so he is looking just like a somewhat tall and definitely athletic human male, wearing just a pair of jeans and a pressed shirt, combining casual and elegant apparently with some sort of success...
Registering Clarice's arrival is an easy accomplishment, as he senses her both telepathically and physically via his motion sense, and so he just calmly moves his eyes on the door, to offer a wave at the two women as they make their entrance.

Blink has posed:
At the compliment on the extra preparations that Clarice made today, the young woman breaks out in a soft, pleased smile. There's definitely something in her expression that suggests there might be some interest, at the least, in the person they are going to meet.

Clarice slips inside after Loran, her boots just making soft sounds as she steps into the tiled floor of the shop. She quickly spots J'onn where he sits and raises a hand to wave to him. She moves over to join him, smiling and turning to Lorna so she might make introductions.

Clarice keeps her voice down a little bit so her words don't carry over to the Latin man working behind the counter. "Princess Lorna of Genosha, this is J'onn J'onnz of the Justice League. Also known as the Martian Manhunter," she says. "He also, incidentally, is interviewing about a teaching position at the school. Scott met with him already and I think things were proceeding nicely there," she adds.

Polaris has posed:
A polite smile for introductions crossed Lorna's expression as they neared the man sitting at the table that Clarice led her to. A glance was briefly spared about the shop and back once, a flexing in the electromagnetic spectrum following as Lorna more or less pinged the area for anything about that shouldn't have been there. Still, green eyes slid over the man as Clarice made introductions.

"From the Justice League? Huh." She bit her lip, mentally shaking herself. If her brother hand't said jack all that he was dating Zatanna and he hadn't told her that he was a mutant and related to Magneto.. Not her place to step in and ask about the woman.

"A pleasure to meet you," She added recovering some of the mannerisms that had briefly slipped.

"How do you two know each other?"

Martian Manhunter has posed:
If he reads anything ina's mind, he doesn't show it in his expression that remains neutral, nor in what he says. J'onn stands up, offering Lorna a polite bow and a smile "greetings, princess. It is a pleasure to meet you, Clarice here spoke quite highly of you, I must sayl." to Clarice, then, he aims a warm smile "you look beautyful, today! Oh well you always do but, well, you know what I mean..." he comments.
The answer to Lorna's question comes accompanied with another smile as he sits again "we met on top of a pyramid, eatingbreakfast and watching sunrise..."

Blink has posed:
Blink gets a warm smile at the compliment from J'onn. She looks back to over to Lorna to nod her agreement. "I go watch the sunrise there a lot when I'm in Genosha. Time to get up, grab coffee, pop up to France for some pastries, and by then the sun is already cresting the horizon at Giza," she says. "And he happened to be flying overhead and saw my portal open," she explains.

Clarice smiles back to J'onn for a moment before looking back to Lorna. "He showed me their Watchtower space station." Clarice gushes a little bit as she says, "Seeing the Earth from space? It was soooo amazing, Lorna. Just the most beautiful thing I've ever seen before."

Clarice glances towards the ice cream. "Want me to grab you both a couple of scoops of something?" she asks, which would also give them a chance to converse while she does so.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna considered J'onn with open, if not entirely polite, curiosity. "Do you frequently just fly around and talk with people opening portals?" She offered, amusement clear in her tone. It was an unusual story, but given how strange life was, it made all the more sense. Still, not the typical way one met someone. She leaned back in the chair, her hand propping up her chin briefly.

"I'll have some chocolate, just a scoop." She offered with a grin toward Clarice. "I have a business lunch I have to go to later, I plan at the very least, to get something expensive if they don't agree to a deal for Genosha." Her voice dripping with dry humor. Then her focus returned to J'onn. "You all seriously let her up onto the Station just like that?"

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn nods as if to confirm Clarice's words, and smiles at her description of the heart, then moves his eyes on the princess and calmly observes her "it's not everyday I meet someone opening a portal on top of a great monument, and since I was going there, or more precisely, flying there, yes greeting her was the minimum I could do... In the following days, I've grown quite fond of this young woman anyways!" he smiles again "so that when she asked about the watchtower, well, there's nothing bad against letting her see the public spaces, those without anything reserved I mean. And well, the observatory there was what was needed to see Earth from space so..."
That said, he turns towards Clarice and nods "I think I'll take the same, not an expert on icecreams, I suppose... But several people in here seem to think the chocolate is very good"

Blink has posed:
Blink flashes them both warm smiles and says, "Two scoops of chocolate coming up." She turns and heads over to the counter. She doesn't have the relationship with the clerk that Kitty does, but the older Latino is friendly and efficient, quickly scooping up two bowls of chocolate, and one of mint chocolate chip.

Clarice brings them back over, setting them down in front of each then taking a seat herself. "Well, it wasn't like he took me right then. We've gotten together a few times. Lunch in Italy, and we went to a lake in the Alps. Plus here at the school so he could have the interview with Scott," Clarice explains.

She digs the tip of her spoon into the ice cream, getting a bit of the frozen tasty goodness on it to bring it to her lips. "Mmmm. And... well, he knows he can trust me. J'onn is at least as strong of a telepath as those at the school," Clarice says. Knowing she's making an understatement, as J'onn does things that the others probably cannot manage even with Cerebro. "If I wasn't safe to take there, he'd have known,' she says. She glances over to J'onn. "It's been nice. We can stay in touch even when the other is away," she says, giving some indication of J'onn's range if Lorna didn't know it already.

Polaris has posed:
A polite smile remained on Lorna's features as J'onn spoke. Good humor in general seemed to float in her mood for now at least as she listened and Clarice returned with ice cream in hand. "Huh, I didn't know there were 'public' sections to the Watchtower in the least. I guess it makes sense, but I never really considered that they'd exist at all." She offered with a shrug as she accepted the ice cream with a murmur of a thank you.

Her spoon tapped against the side thoughtfully as she paused in eating the frozen treat. "I assume you're sympathetic to what mutants are going through then if you're interviewing at the school. Does the rest of the Justice League know.. or care?"

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn smiles at clarice and murmurs a "thank you" when the icecream arrives, and he even tastes it, his expression surely one of approval as he nods "definitely good, in taste at least! I'm sure eating too much of it would be unpleasant to say the least for you humans..." he adds almost as an afterthought, then glances at Lorna and offers a half nod "mh, this is more like a side project of mine, not correlated to the league at all, and the choice of that school is both to integrate with you humans, or mutants if you want to differentiate, and to keep an eye on things so that, in case, I could be able to assist."

Blink has posed:
Blink takes another bite of her ice cream. She listens to the two of her friends talk, giving little nods. "It's a good way for him to get involved with people here. I mean, on Earth." Clarice glances over to J'onn and smiles to him softly. "He has a very good heart. I don't think it matters whether someone is mutant or human, just that they are people and deserve to lead just lives," Clarice says, trying to sum up what she's felt. But then how do you sum up having so much of someone's thoughts and who they are shared into your head?

Clarice motions to Lorna and says, "Lorna does a lot of work for the country. Negotiating deals and seeing to the needs of mutants. Like I'd mentioned, I help her move about, and provide security when she needs," Clarice adds for J'onn.

Polaris has posed:
A look of consideration followed J'onn's words and Lorna slowly nodded over the edge of her ice cream bowl as she paused after another few bites as she listened to both of them. "I differentiate because I am forced to do so. I'd love to say people are people, and simply move on. But unfortunately, my people, Mutants.. are unfairly targeted for being different. You might have noticed." She offered her voice soft and thick with a dry sort of irony at it all.

"I'm happy to hear that you'll at least be experiencing the good at the school. There's a lot there that simply doesn't exist much beyond its walls. There's an acceptance there that I want to grow into Genosha's foundations on the whole. Mutants don't have many safe places to simply live. And I'd like to see more exist for everyone."

Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn nods at Lorna's words, then sighs "as far as I know, it's in human's history to just treat unfairly what they do not know. But then, it is not all of them doing this, so it's not humans treating you mutants unfairly, it's some humans treating you mutants unfairly." he calmly says, taking then a few seconds to eat his icecream "I'd just want to see all of you, on Earth, cooperate to make this planet into a better place. But for as long as there'll be things such as nonacceptance of mutants, I don't see my goal to be achievable, I'm afraid. And, just in case, no I do not mean that a side or another should rule over the other." that said he seems to stop in place, with a thoughtful expression and then a sigh escapes his lips "and the watchtower is calling me to action... I am sorry, ladies, I must really run!" he stands, smiling and giving Clarice a hug, and Lorna another polite bow "it has been a pleasure, Princess... See you soon Clarice and, please, be safe. Both of you." that said, he stands up, walks towards the door and then exits the building, taking to the skies as soon as he can and disappearing in a matter of seconds.

Blink has posed:
Blink watches as J'onn departs. She turns back to Lorna, her eyes expressing her hope that Lorna ended up with a positive opinion of him. "I think he's just overall a good person. He is about opposing injustice, and less worries about the sides involved. Kind of like... I don't know, Superman or Captain America," Clarice says softly.

She digs up another bite of ice cream. "And, I apologize if you're upset at all I didn't warn you about meeting a telepath. It really doesn't matter with him. I mean, he's already aware of everyone's thoughts in the city. But he's got no motives of his own other than trying to help people. He doesn't care about the interests of nations, or corporate dealings or any of that," Clarice says, looking at Lorna hopefully.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna nodded as J'onn left before her green eyed gaze landed heavily on Clarice. "It's more of the issue that Pietro is dating Zatanna and hasn't told her who he is yet, and I thought, oh hey, I'll ask him if he knows or has a good opinion of her or something. And then I backed up because I don't want to be the one to bring up that Pietro is //my brother// and Prince of Genosha. Particularly, as he hasn't told her yet.." She drawled, looking less than pleased on having a surprise telepath about. She pursed her lips and shook her head.

"Besides, Captain America definitely has political agendas and ties. It's in his name." Never mind that her father planned to use him as just that, a symbol for his political ties. She shook her head again and cleaned her spoon off to jab it in Clarice's direction.

"Besides you didn't tell me you had a crush on the guy either."

Blink has posed:
The mention of Captain America causes Clarice to give a little not-quite-agreeing motion of her head. "Well, he has ties. But I don't think he would be supportive of his nation if he found out they were acting in ways at conflict with his moral code. But... J'onn doesn't even have that kind of allegiance. I mean, he has Mars. Which was lost to him a thousand years ago, apparently," Clarice says, saddening a little at that last part.

When Lorna mentions her crush, Clarice doesn't even try to hide it. She grins ear to ear. There has not been much dating at all in the purple-haired mutant's life. There was maybe mention of dating Superboy for a time, a year or two ago, and only briefly. That might be it that Lorna ever heard of.

"He has been really sweet to me," she admits. "I think I'd have been scared of dating someone who could know my thoughts. But it's been the opposite. His race is telepathic and so he's understanding of thoughts and that openness that comes with it," she says. "And, he's kind of cute too," she adds with a warm laugh and a blush.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna inclined her head, "Possibly, my father spoke of him. So that's something that'll be coming up sometime." She drawled softly, her voice barely above a whisper as she spoke of her father. She shrugged once and waved a hand toward Clarice. "It's good, he's good, if he makes you happy. I mean, I don't jack all about Mars or it's previous inhabitants or anything. But if he's thousands of years old.. be careful? I mean that age imbalance is a thing. And that whole not from Earth.." She hedged, her voice dropping off as she bit back the urge to criticize any further. He made Clarice happy thus far, and that was all that really mattered.

"I know how you feel about the worry when it comes to dating anyways."

Blink has posed:
Clarice's hands moves together on the table just before her, fingers fidgeting with each other a little. "I didn't even know anyone was on Mars. I mean, I knew his name but I didn't know if he was actually from Mars, until we met," Clarice confirms quietly. She gets a bit of a warm smile though as she says, "He's been really understanding. More than most people I've met in my life," she says.

Clarice sits up a little bit straighter, and then realizes her ice cream is melting. She gets another spoonful. "How are things going with the Sentinels?" she asks, keeping her voice down. "I've heard some of the things happening at the school. And back home, seen how worried they make people," Clarice says. She's probably in Genosha as much as she's at the school, it just being a step away for her.

Polaris has posed:
A purse of her lips followed the switch in Topic and Lorna's expression, once warm and open closed up. The mask of the Princess' more diplomatic side took hold instead. There were debates all over Genosha about the Sentinels and what to do about them. Her father had //something// planned, at least she figured as much. Beyond what she'd been doing with Lex Luthor and working on shoring up allies for their country. He spoke of symbols and of gaining the world's attention..

But it all seemed just too in line with the X-men's ideals and the idea of peace first that it had Lorna on edge.

"I don't know," She answered honestly, "Things are looking pretty bad, Clarice. I'm not sure what we can do to stop them at large. It just seems like we're reactive rather than active. That we're just waiting for something to happen. Something bad. I worry a good deal that nothing we do will stop what might happen.."

Blink has posed:
Blink gives a glum nod of agreement about the worry of the eventual outcome. "It sounds like those at the school are involved in some efforts against them. Has there been any luck in helping them with them?" she asks. "I have not faced any of them, though I did some training with Rogue and some others in their training room," Clarice says.

She gets another spoon full of ice cream. "How do you feel about the school? I admit it isn't anything like I'd heard about," Clarice says. The tales she heard about it probably came from some of the more hardcore members of the Brotherhood, who probably have quite a hatred for the X-men.

Polaris has posed:
A shrug and Lorna finished off her bowl of mostly melted ice cream, setting the spoon aside with a practiced grace that came only after hours upon hours of struggling to follow rules about dinning for Genosha's appearances when she had to go out and represent. She folded her hands, leaning back in her chair as her gaze drifted to the ceiling tiles in a manner that demonstrated that she was trying not to sigh.

% "I haven't since the incident in Gotham faced them directly, no. I've been staying on top of the reports and trying to handle the more diplomatic solutions if there are any.." She muttered, grimacing. "I just feel as if it's pointless and I feel so utterly out of my depth." She shook her head, her gaze returning to Clarice.

"The school is where I grew up for a few years, in high school forward, really. I certainly didn't grow up raised by my father."

Blink has posed:
Clarice moves some of the ice cream around with her spoon for a few seconds, before finally gathering it up for a bite. "They have a bit of a different philosophy than your father. Do you think their way has much merit?" Clarice asks softly. She's never been anything less than unwavering in her support for Magneto. It's likely she's just trying to make sense of a world that is still in many ways an unfamiliar one, even years after the collar came off her neck, than it is that she's questioning Magneto's chosen methods.

Clarice glances up as the Latino behind the counter comes over. His nametag says 'Ernesto'. "You should have something to wash the ice cream down," he says, offering them both a beverage cup. "Italian soda. Blackberry flavored," he says with a smile, and giving them both straws before he retreats back behind the counter.

"What a nice man," Clarice says with a smile.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shrugged and turned her gaze down to the table between them in thought. "I think it does, but I also think my father isn't necessarily wrong either. I think both philosophies have strengths and weaknesses. That they both are products of the men that shaped them and grew them into what they are today." She gave a diplomatically careful answer. One that didn't really answer anything at all.

But that was Lorna, caught between two ideals and forever trying to balance the two.

As the gentleman comes over and offers them something to drink, Lorna smiled and thanked him with a smile. Even if she didn't touch the drink once it was set down in front of her. It was one thing to order something without preparation from a place, but another to accept something she hadn't asked for to begin with.. Paranoid? Entirely so.

Blink has posed:
Blink tears the paper off of her straw and doesn't seem concerned about the beverage. But then she just has the normal worries that a mutant might of someone jacking with their food. She does notice Lorna's not touching it. "He seemed like a really nice man," Clarice comments, but gives a little shrug as if accepting that Lorna might not choose to accept the drink.

"Well, J'onn has been a nice distraction at the least," Clarice says. Then she breaks out in a schoolgirl's grin. "Well, more than nice," she says. Clarice sips the blackberry tea through the straw. "You mentioned your brother was seeing someone. Have you found anyone here that drew your interest?" Clarice inquires.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna kept smiling, even as she left the drink untouched in terms of drinking it. She made a show of picking off the paper part of the straw's cover and swirling it around from side to side. She ran her finger tips over the condensation on the outside of the glass but still didn't drink. It was a rule of thumb she struggled with sometimes, but it worked well for the Queen of England. It had clearly kept //her// alive.

"I'm glad J'onn makes you happy," She offered sincerely, even if the smile faded as Clarice asked after her own love life. Lorna frowned faintly.

"No, and it's just as well. I don't have time for someone. And frankly, at this point, it would be too dangerous for me to date anyone that didn't have significant powers or combat experience. He'd have to be a mutant at the bare minimum. Likely with at least an alpha ranking power set. Good genes." She exhaled a breath, pursing her lips and shook her head.

Blink has posed:
Blink leans back in her chair, crossing her legs as she listens to Lorna. She gets a thoughtful look. "Even if you had someone like that, there's no assurance that children would end up being mutants as well. Only carrying the gene, right?" Clarice asks. She is far from a biology expect, but has had the concepts explained. Probably most of Genosha is aware of it by now.

Clarice looks at the glass thoughtfully, though her thoughts are elsewhere. "I really haven't thought about kids at all. I mean, I'd never even dated. Except for Conner for a little bit," she says, shaking her head as if not quite sure if that should count. "I think it wouldn't matter to me though. I can't imagine that it would," she says slowly.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna sighed softly, tapping her fingers against the glass. "Children are only part of that. If I dated someone it would have to be with the considerations for the long term. My father hasn't named his successor yet, and say if I was named next in line. Whoever I was with, would be a target. I can't possibly be there to protect them, and if they can't handle themselves...?" She shook her head slowly and bit back the urge to grumble.

"As far as the children go, we don't have much research on third generation mutants. I'm second generation and my powers manifested when I was a toddler. Not at the usual teenage years. All of my father's children have demonstrated powers.. There's a good chance that whatever children I have would end up with an active X-gene." She glanced at Clarice again briefly.

"I don't care if my children have powers or not, but for the sake of Genosha's future, it would be better if they did. To hold power and to keep it for the future.. if we have one. I don't think that in one generation or even two that we'll have peace. So for Genosha... and it's safety? I have to consider these things.."

Blink has posed:
Blink has finished her ice cream, setting the bowl aside and taking up the large paper cup with both hands then, giving them something to occupy them. "I find myself thinking about safety a lot," she says quietly. "Especially as I've been getting out and seeing the world more and more," Clarice says. Her confidence has been growing in that regard.

"Oh! Rogue and I went to Easter Island!" Clarice says suddenly, beaming. She'd always said she wanted to go there, but for some reason her portals only opened on ocean. "I found out the pictures I was studying of the place were much older than I thought. When I found a bunch of new ones I finally got close enough I could see the island and get a portal onto the ground," she says. "It was as amazing I thought it would be. The huge stone heads? Just incredible," Clarice says with a grin.

She remembers what she'd been saying before. "But, yes, I think about safety a lot the more that I've traveled. And honestly I've never felt so safe as I have around J'onn. Knowing I'm with one of the most powerful beings on the planet has given me a level of comfort that... well, it's fair to say I didn't even realize how insecure I'd felt, until I realized how comfortable I could feel with him."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna smiled faintly as Clarice finished her ice cream and moved onto a less depressing topic than her love life. It truly was bleak when she said it all out in such practical terms. It wasn't as if she'd had luck just falling for whoever was interested either. So, to her at least, it wasn't as if practicality was that much worse.. She grinned at the mention of Easter Island and how much it was an experience for the teleporter and Lorna took the time to just sit and listen to her friend's chipper times and her feelings for J'onn.

"I'm glad, you deserve to feel safe." She offered softly.

Blink has posed:
Blink beams a smile over to Lorna as they talk. "If you'd ever like to go see it, now I've been there I can get back no problem," Clarice says. And truly, being around Blink means anywhere that she's been to before is just a couple of steps away.

The purple-haired mutant leans back in her chair as she sips her blackberry Italian soda. "Is there anywhere that you have not been to yet, that you'd like to see? If so and I haven't been there I could study it until I can get us there," Clarice offers. "I still haven't been to the Great Wall. Several mountains. A lot of cities around the world. Neither of the poles. I think I'm going to wait until Christmas to do the North Pole," she says with a warm laugh.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna tilted her head in thought, "I hadn't considered the North Pole before, I wonder what it would do to my senses to be at the magnetic North.." She had picked Polaris after the North Star after all, and her powers did lean toward that polarity naturally. Her father's tending toward the other pole. Though they often switched, it was their natural inclination to be opposites in terms of polarity.

She shrugged once and considered again, "Hmm, I really haven't been to that many places now that I think about it. I never have the time for it, it seems."

Blink has posed:
"I know you have a lot of responsibilities," Clarice says as she looks across the table at her friend. "But you definitely need to take some time to have fun. Well, think about it. Somewhere you'd like to visit. The plains of Africa and see the wildebeest? Or maybe Mount Kilimanjaro? Or a Pacific atoll with perfect blue waters in the lagoon," Clarice says, just throwing out some ideas to spark Lorna's curiosity. "Or maybe just dinner in Shanghai or Paris of Johannesburg."

Clarice pauses. "Ok, not sure why I threw in Johannesburg in the list of places to eat. Just wanted to be equal opportunity for Africa," she says with a grin and a shrug.

Polaris has posed:
A arch of her eyebrow shot upward, "I take plenty of time for myself.. Just not in countries that might frown on having a foreign Princess come crashing through for a quick visit.." She drawled, trying to make light of how much time she spent working on literally anything and everything else besides 'fun times' for herself. She smiled none the less.

"If we go to Africa we'd have to see if we could make some diplomatic meetings with Wakanda, if they'd even meet with us. I'd like to try it. Seeing as they're fairly close to Genosha geographically and might be sympathetic to our situation.." She mused, and bit off the urge to sigh and continue onward with more business.

"Sorry Clarice, if we go anywhere it'll likely involve me playing diplomat."

Blink has posed:
Clarice gives a soft, warm laugh. It starts small but then it grows bigger, warmer, and more amused. "I'm sorry, just you protested that you take plenty of time for yourself, then admit if you took me up on it, it would turn into you playing diplomat," Clarice points out, still laughing warmly. With Lorna, not at her. Blink probably wouldn't be comfortable laughing like that with any of Lorna's family except for Lorna.

"Well, their king is one of the Avengers. Pietro could probably try to arrange a meeting with him," Clarice suggests. "I don't really know much of anything about Wakanda other than they provided one of the Avengers. And, I think he was involved in the Asgard refugees somehow? There was something at the UN with him and Wonder Woman." Clarice gives a little sigh. Wonder Woman is a bit of a hero for her.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna smiled weakly, and flapped her hand at Clarice, "C'mon at least I'm an honest work-a-holic." She drawled, and tried to fight off the bitterness that Pietro and Wanda were living at the Avenger's Mansion and hadn't even seemingly broached the subject of a Genoshan alliance with anyone.. She managed at least to keep those thoughts off her expression as she sat and twisted the straw this way and that in the glass.

"Genosha is always at the forefront of my mind.."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
The text that Carrie had received was awhile ago, but that's all right. It took her awhile to get here in the first place. The door to the icecream shop is pushed open as she steps inside giving a quick glance around to see if the familiar mutant she knew was here... Only to grin when she does spot Clarice. A quick wave is given, and she steps over to the counter to order a single scoop of chocolate on a cone. It was simple but man she'd been wanting some for awhile. With that in hand she heads over to greet the pair. "Fancy seeing you here," she offers with a joking tone toward her friend.

Blink has posed:
Blink looks up, and it will be obvious from the purple-haired mutant's beaming smile that she knows Carrie. There are empty bowls for both ladies, and two paper cups for beverages. Clarice pops up and grins, moving over to give Carrie a tight hug of greeting. "I didn't think you'd actually make it all the way over here!" she says. "Was just going to lord ice cream over you," she says with a warm laugh for Carrie.

Clarice turns back to Lorna to say, "Princess Lorna of Genosha, this is my friend, Carrie Kelley. Carrie put on a play at Gotham University, that was written by one James Proudstar's tribe," Clarice says. "And we met after and have been friends ever since. She went skateboarding with Rogue and I over to the skatepark," Clarice shares.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna sat up as the stranger entered the shop, but as Clarice greeted the other woman, Lorna stood and offered her hand. "You don't have to call me Princess or anything. Please, just Lorna is fine." She shot the purple haired woman a look with a faint smile gracing her lips. "She keeps introducing me as Princess to people." There was a hint of light hearted teasing in her voice. But the green haired woman clearly had long ago accepted her title as Princess.

"It's nice to meet you, Carrie."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley accepts the hug with a little chuckle over the situation. "I needed to get out of my apartment for a bit any way. Too much studying. Besides it was nice out today." When Blink introduces Lorna she reaches out to accept the offered hand without a bit of hesitance in spite of who Lorna was. "It's great to meet you Lorna. Clar keeps talking about you." A sidelong glance is cast toward her friend as she adds, "Nothing bad of course."

Gesturing at the seats around the table, even though she had been invited, she asks, "Mind if I join you guys? Or did I catch you when you were about to head out?"

Blink has posed:
Blink smiles over to Carrie though she lets Lorna decide if it is ok for Carrie to join. "Well, I don't want to be the one to invite people to drop your title," Clarice says with a soft smile for the Genoshan young woman. "If you'd rather I just used Lorna in introductions, outside of a formal meeting, I will of course," Clarice says. Such things were never really an issue in Genosha, and her time with Lorna in the states is only a few weeks old now. Still working out those little details it seems.

Clarice says, "Let me get a refill on this italian soda. It was good." She picks up her cup to walk over to the counter and get another from Ernesto.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna waved toward the table they'd had before and returned to her seat. "Please, join us. We're just sitting around and talking. Particularly over Clarice's love life. It's a grand old time for everyone involved." She teased, green eyes twinkling in mirth as she bit back a laugh. She shook her head slightly at Clarice as the other woman got up and continued to get more soda.

"You're my friend and if it's not a state meeting or something, you're more than welcome to introduce me as such."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley sinks down to sit in one of the seats pausing only to take a quick lick of her icecream to ensure it didn't get too melty around the edges. "Ohh yeah she mentioned that guy she's seeing," she adds with a knowing grin. "Any juicy details?" Of course it's just a tease, and as Lorna reassures Clarice about the title she sits back comfortably in her chair watching the interaction between the two with a grin.

"Honestly it's probably a good thing this isn't a formal occasion. I am not so good at those. Plus I think I'm still bruised from the skate park so curtseying would be right out."

Blink has posed:
Blink gets the beverage refill and returns to the table. "Actually he was just here," Clarice tells Carrie of the aforementioned man. Martian. Whatever. "You missed him by... half an hour? I'll have to get you two together sometime so you can meet," she says.

For that matter, Clarice is dressed a little more nicely than normal, with a nice blouse instead of simple clothing. And her hair is down instead of pulled up. And... is that mascara she's wearing? Only a little bit of makeup, but the first time Carrie has seen Clarice wearing any.

"We could take Lorna to the skatepark, but she totally cheats," Clarice says with a grin for the other Genoshan. "Just make the skateboard go where she wants to," she says with a warm chuckle.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna glanced at Carrie and smiled warmly, "Well, I'll forgive the lack of bowing and curtseying just this once then. Since you're injured and all." She spoke with that same lightness in her tone that she'd used with Clarice and as the purple haired woman returned with soda in hand. Lorna reached up a hand, wiggling her fingers which bore several cheap looking rings of nickle and other cheap steel. All of which were magnetic.

"It's not cheating if it's something I'm naturally given. I'm excellent at surfing, driving, and many other sports.. I won't race my brother though. Unless Clarice is offering a portal somewhere that is.."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley lifts her eyebrows faintly. "I missed him? Aw, man. Yeah I'll have to catch you guys another time for that," she agrees with an easy grin. The skatepark mention again just causes her to grin wider at the thought. "Okay I'm kind of curious now... but I guess you've both got your own special skills. You're right, though, nothing really wrong with it if it's something you can do. Everyone's better at something than other people." A small careless shrug is given. "Sometimes it's just really awesome stuff like portaling to travel instead of walking or taking a plane."

Blink has posed:
Blink grins and motions over towards Lorna and says, "She can do /really/ cool stuff," though Clarice leaves any explanation of what all can be done up to Lorna to share. Clarice flashes a smile over to Carrie though as she tells Lorna, "We went to Bangkok the other night. She'd been watching a food show on TV talking about the street food there. So we popped over and loaded up on it and brought it back," Clarice says.

She's smiling. Doing things like that for her friends with her mutant power make Clarice so happy. Lorna will probably know there was tragedy when her power emerged. It took Clarice quite awhile to finally embrace the power, according to others in the Brotherhood. "Did you manage to eat all of it? I don't think you could have, unless you've been working out extra hard," Clarice says with a warm laugh.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shrugged lightly, and wiggled her fingers, but nothing happened. "It's just magnetism." She offered, as if that was hardly a power when people knew well all the crazy feats her father had gotten up to over the years. She sighed though as she glanced at the time on her phone. She grimaced, pushing herself up from the chair with a sigh.

"I'm sorry guys, but I have a meeting I have to get ready for here soon. It was nice meeting you, Carrie. I'll see you later, Clarice." She offered as she got up to go.
