Tinyplot: Age of Despair

Mon-El has posed:
Shortly after that whole business on Apokolips, Lar comes to the Fortress of Solitude looking for Kal. He'd seen the footage on the news--it certainly looked, for the most part, as if Superman were back to life as usual. But still--something seemed off. Even when he did appear to come back to himself after that bout of rage, there was something...something that didn't seem quite right.

But despite it all, Lar can't seem to quite place it. What was it? That's what he's hoping to identify...

Superman has posed:
It was a normal day in the antarctic. Cold. Snowy. A little warmer than normal at this time of year. This was where Kal El was at this time. Having left the Watchtower several hours ago, Kal was puttering around the Fortress when Mon El arrives.

Mon El should know where the key was to enter the Fortress. With his strength, it should be no issue to pick it up and use it. As it was, the doorway was closed, but Mon El could tell that the nearby snow had been disturbed in the last few hours, a sign that someone was present.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar searches the area, looking for evidence that Kal might be here. It doesn't take him long to find it, so he picks up the key and enters carefully. It has been a while since he'd last been here, and given it's supposed to be a fortress of, well, 'solitude', he doesn't want to seem like he's barging in.

Superman has posed:
"Kelex would you tend tho that please?" Kal El says to his hovering roboservant. "It has gone on for too long already." Kal El has his hands across his chest, wearing his normal Superman attire and looking stern at the robot. "Carry on."

"Certainly Master El." The robot notes Mon El's arrival, but doesn't say anything, as it turns and heads towards the menagerie inside the Fortress.

Turning at the sounds of the new arrival, Kal looks at Mon El for a few seconds, and then says, "Lar! It is good to see you. What brings you to the Fortress on a snowy day like today?" His words are kind, but there is a strange coldness to them that was out of character.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar chuckles. "Are there any other kinds of days around here?" he remarks jovially in response to the snowy day comment as he comes in, noting the exchange with Kelex. What has been going on for too long? But he doesn't inquire about it--at least not just yet.

"Anyway, I just thought I'd come check in on you. Just to make sure you're doing all right. After that whole mess on Apokolips, can't be too careful." he answers, studying his friend. "You seemed pretty infuriated at...something back there." He tilts his head slightly. "What was the last thing you remembered?"

Superman has posed:
"Not lately." Superman's cold half-smile was a quick response to the comment. His arms were locked across his chest...a very un-Superman like pose. It was like he didn't truly know Lar, or was keeping his distance on purpose for some strange reason.

"I appreciate that." Superman floats above the icy-blue ground and moves a bit closer to the nearest console. Looking at it absently, several Kryptonian characters scroll across it. Nodding, he removes a crystal, and replaces it in the storage area next to the console, shutting it off.

Turning back to Lar, Kal shrugs, "Forgive me. I am doing a few housekeeping items that I have to get to because of my time away." Kal continues to float above the ground as he turns. "Infuriated? Me? No, I was worried. It is of no concern." Changing the subject without answering the last question, Kal moves a touch closer. "How have you been? Getting used to this time? Any word on getting your Legion back to its proper place in time?"

Mon-El has posed:
Lar watches as Kal seemed to be tending to a few 'housekeeping' items, his eyes examining the Kryptonian characters that briefly scroll across the console, then following as the crystal is stored away. Though he does know the language, he tries not to pry. Or at least he tries not look like he is.

He frowns slightly when Superman seems to ignore the question. Why was he avoiding it? And not only that, he tries to change the subject, get him to start talking about himself. "Really." the Daxamite's voice grows more sober as opposed to the previously light tone with the weather joke. He arches a brow at him. "I would think your friend Mr. Queen would beg to differ on that part."

Superman has posed:
"Queen. Hm." A slight pause. "Thank you for coming Lar. I really have a lot of things to do. Our friendship is one of the things that I truly cherish. Especially you coming for me on Apokolips. Thank you for your concern though. I am fine." Superman floats over towards another console, and inserts a crystal, bringing up several interesting bits of information about the geological stability of the planet...

...which was similar to the current global temperature and meteorological status of the planet readings that Lar gleaned from the last console...all in Kryptonian. Strange for Kal to be looking at these things right after he gets back to "normal".

"It is funny actually..." Kal El taps the console, and brings up the current trajectory of the Watchtower and Alpha Flight's station. "...you are the third person to ask me how I am doing. Lois and Jimmy were also very concerned. You needn't worry. I have recovered."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar watches the console, noting the planetary status readings that Kal seems to keep looking at, as well as the status of the Watchtower and Alpha Flight facilities. "Right--lots to do. C'mon now, if you want me to leave, just say so, all right? You don't have to do this whole subtle suggestion thing because you're afraid I'll get offended or something." he replies, although he already sounds somewhat indignant. 'Offended'...or is it suspicious?

After he once again stresses that no one should worry even though Lar hasn't been the only one to express concern, he comes right up to the console where Kal is standing. "Kal." he says seriously, putting a hand on his friend's shoulder and gently, yet firmly--tries to make the Kryptonian face him; which is something most of Kal's -other- friends wouldn't be able to do. "You hurt people, yet you're denying the fact that it even happened. You're avoiding discussing what happened, and subtly trying to avoid all your friends in general. You would be worried too, if our roles roles were reversed..."

Superman has posed:
Finishing doing whatever he was doing, Kal removes the crystal, places it in the storage area to the right of the console, and turns at Lar's touch, floating back to the ground. A smile. Not that warm, hopeful smile, but something different. "You are right. It is a lot to take in. Thank you Lar. Truly."

A sobering look, as Kal adds, "Look. I really need to go. How about we talk more in a few days? We can meet up at Joe's, that cafe near the Daily Planet and have coffee? You can check on me then."
