Welcome Home Skye
Date of Scene: 27 June 2019
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Skye comes home from the Trisk, only to announce new plans to leave over dinner.
Cast of Characters: Melinda May, Quake, Hawkeye (Barton)

Melinda May has posed:
It's been more than a week since Skye singlehandedly collapsed a mountain in Austria. Enough time that she's clear to be released from Medical. So, May collects the younger agent to drive her home. No, still no typey typey, but at least no more counting the holes in the room's ceiling tiles. She sends a text while leading the hacker to the waiting vehicle, and then they're on their way. It's as quick a drive as usual, but not so quick that takeout can't arrive at just about the same time.

With the car parked as close as possible, May lets Skye bolt for home but stops her from trying to open the front door herself. Damned restrictions from Medical.

Quake has posed:
At least she's back in her gauntlets?

Skye is grumbly, but only half-heartedly so, because look! She's home! And if she's not mistaken things might even be back to normal in her place - no more looking like a science lab exploded inside. Mind you, she's been made to promise to do as little as possible with her hands for the next couple days to let the healing settle and solidify. Clint, no doubt, having been instructed to keep an eye on his wayward partner and turn her in if she cheats. Which might not be particularly kind to Clint, but hey, she'd not counter *their* ceiling tiles ad nauseum?

It will all work out okay, right? Right? She's home. That's a start.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint is waiting at home when the car pulls up. He'd cleared out the parking spot upfront and glared menacingly at anyone who tried to take it, so May and Skye have at best ten feet to go from car to door.

When that door opens, Clint is already coming into the entry way, "Hey," he greets, leaning in to get a kiss from Skye. "Glad to be home?"

May is given a nod of thanks for springing Skye and driving her over.

Melinda May has posed:
May nods back to Clint as she closes the door after them and skirts around to check and see that the house has been adequately cleared of the tech mess that had invaded. If it hasn't, she's making some phone calls.

Well, that and to give the couple a little bit of privacy.

Techsplosion gone, funiture back in place, she continues on into the kitchen to fix some tea.

Quake has posed:
While Skye is glad things are back to normal, after her hello kiss to Clint she looks about the living area of their home and gives a little sigh. "So weird. I think I miss living in a science lab." There's a devilish hint of a grin as she asks Clint and May, "So what are we doing tonight Brain?" Because when all was said and done after nearly 2 years of hectic pace, Skye wasn't sure what to do with all this breathing room -- even her vacation to China had ended up an adventure and nothing like a vacation at all, and now that Zola was well and truly out of the picture the young Agent was feeling a loss.

"Yeah," she says quietly, "I miss it." It's likely she doesn't just mean the science lab.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
For his part, Clint is glad to be rid of the science lab. Letting their friends into the house was one thing, work? Quite another. He came home to get away from work, not be reminded of what was lingering out there waiting for him at the office. Though, Zola had made it necessiary, but Clint was glad both he, and the tech was gone.

Though when Skye asks her question, Clint finds he comes up blank, his face showing some mild confusion.

"Plot against Sentinels?" he suggests half-joking. "Seriously though, no clue what's even going on in right now, been so focused on Zola."

He takes a seat at the island. "I'd say plan a vacation, but we have a shit track record with those," a look towards May. "Those of us who take them anyhow."

Melinda May has posed:
May sets out tea for Skye -- a mug with a drinking straw, deal -- and pours for herself. Then, she plunks a frou-frou beer in front of Clint while glancing at a clock all sneaky-like.

"What you need to do is plan for the fourth of July. You've got just about a week."

Interesting, why would May bring THAT up, considering she's usually one of the LAST people to celebrate for the sake of celebrating?

Quake has posed:
"Hey! Why don't I get a beer?" Skye might be laughing but she's also wondering. As for the fourth of July, "Oh, yeah. Steve's birthday and our yay we kicked Zola out of our lives party. I kinda invited someone to it, I hope you don't mind?"

Then again, it is her and Clint's house, she should be able to invite someone.

Telling Clint, "I.. Fine. I wanted to wait until the party, but since you brought it up, I'm going to be asking for a leave of absence." Which might be news to May as well. "And.. I'm doing it alone."

And that there might be why she was going to wait to bring the matter up.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint grins when Skye's given tea instead of beer and cracks his own conspicuously. "Huh? What's that?" he teases.

As to the party. "Oh right I forgot that's Cap's birthday and two days after Skye's too," he says.

"Oh? Who's the guest?"

Though that question is quickly forgotten, "Wait, you're what? Why?"

Melinda May has posed:
May doesn't echo Clint's questions, he blurted them out quite nicely without her help. Instead, she sips at her tea before walking out of the kitchen and toward the front door, where there's a knock mere seconds after she started that direction.

Talk about timing. No, better, talk amongst yourselves while she's not in the room.

Quake has posed:
"I still want to know why I didnt' get beer," Skye complains as May leaves the room. Presumably to make food, because whether or not she was giving the couple space, May was usually making food at their place.

She tries to explain it to Clint. "I need to find my mother. And learn about my people. And who I am. I can't do that with someone else hanging over my shoulder. As much as I love you, this is something I have to do for me. I didn't want to make you upset, so I waiting... I guess that wouldn't have been much better, but I've been thinking about it since Crystal came to visit me."

Yeah, May might ahve heard about that, too. Not that Skye's filed a report or anything.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint is almost expressionless, while he takes in Skye's reasoning, those his brows shoot upwards at the bit about 'hanging over my shoulder'.

"Huh," he says as he takes a sip of his beer.

When he lowers it, he says, "I get it, this is your family stuff, your people, just do me a favour though, and don't go until you're fully healed."

Melinda May has posed:
May returns a few moments later carrying a bag full of takeout, and it doesn't smell like something Asian.

"Seconded. You start your leave of absence when you're fully healed and not a second before." She just implied that the hacker would be getting said time off without question. "And you will one of us every day, no ifs ands or buts." And there's the condition.

The food is revealed quickly enough to be Puerto Rican fare, rich and savory and most of it easy for Clint to help Skye eat.

No messy sauce-laden Hunan this time.

Quake has posed:
The upshot of brow isn't missed. "Don't, Hotshot. Just don't. That's not fair."

Even if he /did/ follow it upt with acknowledgement that she was going to do it, and he didn't sound like he was going to interfere.

"You care about me. How can I make decisions and figure things out with you.. being you. You may not have noticed, but ever since China you've been getting more protective until I'm afraid to tell you anything. Worse since my change. I know you don't mean to, but you're still doing it, and we aren't those people. I don't want to be those people. And I Have to do this for me."

She sighs and shakes her head, sinking back into the couch she's on.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint looks up from his beer. "I don't think I've done anything to hold you back Skye. I covered for you when you went to go find your Dad and got caught by Hydra, I didn't say a word about dropping that mountain on Zola, I didn't ask about your friend in our computers and how you know the Shadow. All I've done is care for you and when you did get in trouble, I came to help you, same as you did for me when the Neon Dragons grabbed me, same as I'd do for anyone in SHIELD, especially my partner."

"I am sorry if it feels like I've been over-protective, but, for what it's worth, I get why you have to do this and why you have to do it alone, hell, if it were my family I'd probably do the same. Can that be enough for now? Work on the rest later?"

A glance is given to the food and it makes his stomach growl.

Melinda May has posed:
Again, May makes herself scarce while the couple talk, disappearing into the kitchen for a few minutes only to return with a beer for Skye FINALLY (it's hers because it has a straw in it), though it's not the frou-frou stuff. Instead it's a mexican beer from the pack of assorted bottles she'd brought over a while back. She's poured it into a glass pulled from the freezer to chill it, since it had been in the pantry and not the fridge.

Quake has posed:
So far Skye hasn't touched tea, or food, and seems like beer is officially off of her radar as she gives Clint a hurt look. "You made a list. You made a list of all the.. you know waht, nevermind. It doesn't matter why. I need to do this for me. And I need to do it alone. I can't think about me and what I need when I'm worrying about everyone and everything else."

Her features look pained, "I didn't say you've been holding me back, just you've been more protective. I don't blame you.. I just need time to process all this. It's been go go go since.. way before Karl kidnapped me, and worse since. I didn't even get a chance to really figure out how I feel about any of this. The whole time I was learning not to damage the neighbourhood, and hunting up what Zola was doing. There wasn't any time in there for me."

She nods when he admits he'd likely do the same if it were his family. "Thank-you for that. It won't be forever. Just, long enough."

May being told, "I'm taking leave effectively now. I'll stick around till the party, but after that I'm starting my search."

Which might ride that thin 'fully healed' line.

Adding, "Oh, Samantha. She's.. as ready for that full agent as I can make her."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint frowns. "I thought of a list right now, it wasn't like I had one written down somewhere," he says but that was beside the point and more to the point a distraction from the issue at hand.

After a second, he adds: "Sorry."

Skye's part about trying to figure out how to control her powers and not hurt others but leaving little time for herself, somehow that resonated. It made sense.

"Yeah, you never really got a chance to let all of this settle, did you? The change I mean. It was one crisis after another," he says softly, his expression sympathetic. It all made a whole lot more sense than it had at the first blush.

"Figure this shit out and find your mom, how ever long that takes, I'll be here. Unless May finally sends me to Siberia," Clint offers with a smile, signing a quick ~I love you~ along with the words.

Quake has posed:
Skye's all about to protest, but she hears him. Hears how it wasn't a list he's been keeping, realizing that that wasn't really what she was upset about either. She was anxious and out of sorts and worried about breaking this news to him on top of all the stress she's been under for months, her recent injuries, and now, the realization that there were even /more/ Inhumans to add into the equation of who and what she was.

When he understands, all of that seeps away, though, her features softening as he speaks. Lips twisting over a crookedly broken smirk as she signs ~I love you~ back at him.

"Yeah. It's been hard. You've been wonderful. I just.. I need to figure this out. We're okay."

Her smile finding its way back to something less broken, but still her crooked trademark.

"Well, if she sends you to Siberia, I'll come break you out. I mean, what's another reprimand on my record, huh?"

Melinda May has posed:
Having claimed her portion of the food -- if you two let yours go cold it's not on her -- she's settled in to eat, giving the couple time to sort their shit out. But it sounds like they have, so she tosses out seemingly randomly, "Siberia's too good. I'm thinking McMurdo Station."

And she waits to see how long it takes them to figure out she's referenced Antarctica. And that she's joking.
