Back to Mutant School
Date of Scene: 22 August 2019
Location: Backyard - Xavier's School
Synopsis: An assembly of the students is called for the beginning of the 10th year at Xavier's. Explosive incident, tragedy averted, fun aerial stunts and a good time had by all!
Cast of Characters: Beast, Nightingale, Nightcrawler, Cannonball, Cypher, Shadowcat, Cyclops

Beast has posed:
The school is having its 10th year, and that's a big deal for the students and staff at the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Staff come on out back, where a large stage has been set up, decorated with mementos of the first ten years of the scool, and a podium with the school seal in front. Students are arrayed in the grass, in chairs, ready for the great assembly.

Hank steps up to the mic to kick things off. "Welcome to the Xavier School, or welcome back to school to our returning students. I am Dr. Henry McCoy, biology teacher here. I've been teaching here for ten years now. I've seen youngsters come here, get an education, turn their lives around, and come to be teachers here. We do a lot of good, I'm proud of that, and I hope our students here today can continue the traditions we've begun."

Nightingale has posed:
It was a gorgeous day out, perfect for an assembly like this one, on such a momentous occasion. Shannon is seated cross-legged on the grass near the stage, eschewing chairs for the comfort of some space behind her wings. She can't help smiling a little bit, tilting her head as she considers the words of Hank's speech. But she remains silent, glancing about at the other students... no, classmates... perhaps even family. She'd already been through a bit with a few of them, and looked forward to the year to come.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Hanging up in some of the support rigging, Kurt watches, arm and tail lashed around something sturdy to keep him in position. With Hank handling the talking, he was fine to observe, dressed in button down and khaki per usual around the school, eyes scanning the various faces in the crowd.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie comes blasting in near the back of the group. He has a backpack over one shoulder, and is dressed in dress shirt and slacks. He looks around to those near him "Sorry." He says knowing his blasting is a bit loud, but he killed it quickly.

Cypher has posed:
Doug is toward the back, wearing a bespoke suit and tie, and dark sunglasses, black and yellow bow tie, stylish sunglasses, hair neatly combed. He keeps a cool reserve, though he's pleased to see the turnout.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy wraps up some technical notes on what students need to do, or should expect, in the coming days and weeks at school. He then steps aside to let any other staff speak who wish to. Standing at the back of the stage, he smiles and looks over the assembled students. The future.

Cypher has posed:
After a moment, Doug raises his hand. "Ah. I'd like to say a few words." He says, before he makes his way up to the front. He offers his hand to Hank in a firm handshake -- he always did have a good grip -- before he taps the mic. "Ah. Hello! It's a lovely day here at the Institute. How's everybody doing? I'm Doug, and I was a member of what they call the 'Second Generation' of students here at the school, the 'New Mutants First Class'."

Nightingale has posed:
There was no way for any of them to know what the future holds. If anybody had told Shannon that she'd be here just a few years ago, she'd have laughed at them. But at least now, there was the hope of a decent future. Glancing upwards, she spies a familiar face hiding amongst the rigging, and grins, waving. Oh yeah. This was going to be a good year.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit up at his friend, and crosses his arms listening to the other man. His goggles are propped on his forehead from flying in, cause lets face it who wants a bug to the eye when rocketing around.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Titles, funnies, Kurt frowns a little but understands. Most just want people to think positive before any of the negative hits. Clinging to where he hangs, golden eyes glowing and moving from one face to the next he sighs, looking to Doug's mechanical arm, mouth twisting into itself and he wonders what new horrors will befall the students this year

Cypher has posed:
Doug clears his throat. "So. I want to just take a second... and talk to those of you who're new here. A lot of you are -- dealing with big changes in your lives. New abilities you're struggling to master... relationships with your families that are suddenly different. Friendships that have ended... maybe badly. Each of you has your own story. But the friends that you make here - hi Sam! - the adventures you'll have... I can't even begin to explain to you what's in store, and explaining things is part of my super-power. It's tough... life is tough. But hang in there, because I've been where you are... seen a lot, done a lot, been through a lot. And I'd do it all again. All of it, because the places I've been and the people I've known, they're worth it. ...Thank you."

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy slowly steps off of the platform while Doug begins to speak. He does listen carefully, but as a matter of practicality he walks along the rows of seats, watching the students for trouble. Shannon gets a ruffle as he goes by.

In the back, one student can be seen with what APPEARS to be a firecracker. Hank sees it, points discreetly, signaling their attention to the young lady with bright green dyed hair, and a leather jacket, thinking she's going to cause a fuss. Susan Smith is her name.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will wave a hand to Doug, as he does the Hi Sam. He smirks a bit but seeing Beast pointing someone out, he will subtely walk over towards Miss Smith, to get a closer eye on whats going on here.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon wrinkles her nose as her hair is ruffled, giving Hank a semi-playful glare. "Hey, come on, I'm trying to look at least kind of put together for this!" She does catch Hank pointing at something, though, glancing around behind her to see if she can figure out what it is. If something had him on alert, it was wise to keep her eyes open, just in case.

Nightcrawler has posed:
There is a pop... well more a BAMF of air and clouds of smoke when Henry gives the signal, appearing just behind the student to slink up and look over her shoulder at the firecracker, and then the student in question. Head shaking just slightly as he reaches with his tail to take the item, if he can, should he have her distracted enough. He's not as subtle as others, but it's damned scary for a devil man to appear behind you and go 'ah ah ah'.

Cypher has posed:
Doug descends the steps from the stage, shaking hands and greeting old acquaintances as he goes. He seems content. Happy, even.

Beast has posed:
Susan wasn't expecting Kurt to do something like that. When he grabs for her, well, unfortunately it startles her. She drops the firework, and he catches it. BUT, her accomplice that was a bit more stealthy is also startled, and... Kathy one row back accidentally LIGHTS her. "Osh,"s he gasps, and throws the thing, so there's a big boom of an M80 20 feet to the right of the proceedings. And all hell breaks loose inteh student body. They stand, murmur, yell. Some are panicked, crouching, having very bad emotional reactions to the loud noise. IT's pandemonium. Hank starts running around, trying to push kids to sit, noting the ones that need help. "Settle down, easy.. slow down, everyone's fine,"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will start to go after the fire cracker, but he was looking at the wrong person as well. His first reaction is looking around the area, checking on students making sure this is not a distraction for a prank or an attack, either could happen it s Xavier's" He will try to calm all the ones closest to him a bit.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon hits the decks when an explosion goes off not too terribly far away, covering one nearby student, a mousy-looking wisp of a girl--likely a freshman--with her wings, and the upper portion of her body. "Hey... easy there, it's okay, I've got you." She glances up, keeping the girl covered, to see who else in her immediate vicinity might need help.

Nightcrawler has posed:
The stick goes off and Kurt is used to explosions and the sounds of fireworks, remaining just where he is, face set in stone holding Susan by her shirt collar and turning towards Kathy, Kurt apparently has been set off some, speaking slowly and clearly in a circus performer's volume.
"We understand school can be boring, I very much appreciate the need to go off. But this is precisely the thing we don't want starting. There are students here able to cut through stone with their thoughts... grow claws, freeze reality... regenerate limbs, or be set off on a rampage when startled." Kurt's golden eyes narrow slightly. "Most of you are only starting to learn to understand you have abilities and less than half have a grip on what it is to possibly control them. Think before you act. Because someone can be injured very easily by a lack of consideration for others." he looks again between Susan and Kathy very specifically now. "Listen, watch, learn." he holds out his free hand. "Any more of those things?"

Beast has posed:
Susan and Kathy, caught rather thoroughly, squirm under his grip. "Wagner, let us go, you can't grab us," Susan grunts. "Yeah, you're violating our Constitutional rights. You can't touch us. That's child abuse," Kathy says."

Meanwhile the sstudent Shannon helps is visibly shaken, but is helped by her words and actions. Hank gathers up a few more, walking them away from the group, helping them breathe and calm down. Most of the students are still loud, talking, and what not. Hank tries to solve that by leading the most rattled ones away, and telling them to cover their ears. He then walks back to the overall student body, puts two fingers into his mouth, and lets out a loud whistle. "Please sit down at once if you're not hurt, in need of help, or helping someone." he booms.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will shakes his head a bit to the girls, as he moves back to his place to stand and says "As we get more students, guess we gotta get more of all kinds of students." softly to himself. Kurt seems to have the situation firmly in hand.. and tail, but Sam watches in case he needs assistance.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Not letting go, Kurt glares at the pair. "MISTER... Wagner..." Nightcrawler growls, looking between the pair. "You have endangered students, detonated weapons grade explosives on school grounds, in a pre-meditated action. The constitution you're trying to use to evade penalty marks you now as a domestic terrorist. Do we wish to continue to use this sheet of paper to dodge around the trouble you are in?"

Nightingale has posed:
Holy shiitake mushrooms. Shannon had a fair idea Kurt was good, but made a mental note to not piss him off. She might be a student herself, but she helps some of the more rattled ones, including the one she protected, back to their seats. She herself remains standing, close by if needed but just far enough away to hopefully not further antagonize the two would-be explosives experts. Glancing around, she takes quick visual stock of the situation to see if anybody is hurt.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy walks on over to Kurt and the kids. He's letting Kurt handle it, but as the kids traumatized by the explosion settle down, he can go be moral support for Kurt. In the form of a big guy folding his arms and glaring at the two kids.

Not that he needed to. Kurt's words make them go wide-eyed, and their struggling becomes weak and pro forma. Not saying a word now, they gawk, and wonder what happens next. One student looks up to Samuel, a freckled boy of 12, brand new here, wipes an eye, and murmurs "Is this normal here?"

Shannon's new friend murmurs "I'm Angie, thank you."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will squat down to talk to the kid and says "Sotra, we get a few folks who want attention just like most any school does. Ah don't think the girls ment any harm, they thought it would be funny, the problem is they did not think about what could happen. We can have a lot more fun here than normal schools, but we do have to remember to respect others around us when we do. You just have to learn what people are comfortable with and keep it there. If you ever thinks someone is doing something they shouldn't you can come talk to the teachers or the assistants like me.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles at the younger girl. "Shannon. Nice to meet you, Angie." It seemed that Hank, Kurt, and Sam had the situation largely in hand, and the only real casualties appeared to be people's wits--as in frightened out of them. She can't help puffing up a little bit in pride as she listens to the others. Oh yeah. They were awesome.

Nightcrawler has posed:
"I suspect you understand now. You will be the first detention of the year. Four hours this Saturday. We will decide where in the school needs cleaning. But for the moment you are to report to the administration offices. Herr Xavier or Dame Gray will wish to speak with you, as students, and the ramifications of your actions." Kurt takes a long breath, looking between the girls. "I am more disappointed than angry, frauleins... Does not the world have trouble for our kind as it is that our safest place must become a place of fear and tension? For a laugh? A joke within and a joke without? What hatred would you lay upon your classmates next? Make fun of the color their gifts have changed their hair, or eyes, or skin? Mock one for their tail, another for their claws and another for their wings?" he lets them go, expecting them to hopefully not just try to run. "We are the greatest family we could need, when we need them. Don't isolate yourself from them. Now. To the administrative offices, follow that one" he points to a Bamf that has hopped up from behind him. "Now. Mach schnell!" snapping his tail so that it actually whip cracks.

Beast has posed:
Sotra looks up to Sam, nodding. He sniffs, then ambushes the man for a big hug. Rough first day at school needed that.

Angie for her part also trise for a hug, but uh, is a little unsure of how to handle the wings, and her hands hesitate, eyes on the wings.

The troublemakers are put down, and storm off, grumbling "We were just having fun." "Yeah wasn't this a celebration." They do go where they are told though.

"Well done Kurt," Hank nods quietly. "Now, given that our speeches have run to a halt, I invite eveyr student and staffer to the Kitchen, to receive a free Moonberry Twinkie brand snack cake from Hostess, and some milk. We've got a cake made of them and we're going to blow out the candles."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will hug the kid back, and tell him, his name is Sam. Yea the one the guy with the robot arm gave a shout out to. He will move to lead him and the other younger students into the kitchen first so most of the younger kids can see the cake and taller ones can be behind. Sam will ask the kid about his abilities, and the others as well a things they are good at and what they enjoy.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon spreads her wings to get them out of Angie's way, then wraps both them and her arms around the other girl in a hug. "Hey... it's okay, it's all over. We're all safe." She grins at the mention of the Twinkies, rolling her eyes and laughing. "You and your Twinkies, Mr. McCoy! One of these days you're going to turn into one!" Still, it did sound like a very tasty snack, and she'd missed breakfast because of sleeping in. "Hey... come on, let's go get something to eat." She lets Angie go and steps back. "Last one there's a rotten egg!"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde couldn't make the assembly earlier. While she helps out with guidance counseling as she's able, she has a day job at Stark Industries. Working from home, or the X-men base, helps with availability, but still she's only part-time at the school at best.

She was just making her way to the kitchen for a beverage when the loud report was heard. She went to look out the window, but seeing things seemed to calm down after, she grabbed a bottle of iced tea first before heading outside to see what is going on.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Getting himself calmed, Kurt frowns in though, "Wunderbar..." looking around before he announces, "Und anyone not wishing for twinkies und cake... made... of twinkies. If anyone wishes the Amazing Nightcrawler, formerly of the Munich Circus, will be happy to take performance requests of acrobatic talent - und I may even ask assistance from those of you capable of great athletic and acrobatic feats - so this may be a moment to find yourself place in specialized classes, ja?" trying to give his performer's smile, standing up as tall as he can without discomfort from his spine designs.

Nightingale has posed:
Hmmm. Cake, or class? Especially one that promised to be as much fun as the time she had snuck into the danger room... tough choice. Shannon rolls her eyes and chuckles a little. "Guess I'm the rotten egg, Angie. Have a little extra cake for me." She looks right at Kurt and smiles, though her brows furrow in concern. The smile was there, but it didn't quite seem to reach his eyes this time. Perhaps she'd have to talk to him a little later. "Wishing cake, yes. But wishing to see a friend smile even more."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks to the kids, and says "Now no pushing, you can get your cake, and we can step back outside. Maybe Professor Wagner will show you some of the things he know. Ah heard he is secretly a privateer who sails the seven seas at night fighting pirates and rescuing damsels in distress. " He smiles and says "A privateer is a man who fights pirates on his own not part of a larger navy, and yes he can sword fight, Ah have seen him fight with not one, or two but three swords at once." The kids are wowing and some not believing but most come to watch Nightcrawler.

Nightcrawler has posed:
"Herr Simonson, I recall you're file. Ten years old and able to throw a buick. Care to give me a lift. Perhaps Dame Lance" Kurt looks from the new student towards Shannon, "Could be willing to lift off, I can show a wing-walk without even throwing off her flight." head tilting to the side as the reddish skinned child by the last name of Simonson excitedly moves and holds out his hands for Kurt to stand on in a rightfully bizzare juxtaposition. "Either way, young man. Throw me up... not into the atmosphere, ja?" bending so far over backwards he is almost in half to ruffle the kid's hair. "But high enough that we can impress the ladies, ja?" he straightens and is promptly launched skyward with with a whoop.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty doesn't join in the crowd going for the junk food treat, just sipping her iced team and making her way over to the other staff members. Kurt gets a nod of greeting, then Sam and Hank. "What's going on?" she asks, having only caught a little of the tail end of the chewing out that the students responsible for the fireworks got. She pats Hambone as he makes his way past. "Wait in line, James," she tells him, resulting in a nod from the student.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins, and in the space of a heartbeat, she wings her way into the air, twirling and gauging her final altitude by the way young Simonson tosses Kurt skywards. She knew perfectly well the chances of actually being hit by the flying Nightcrawler were miniscule at best, so was perfectly confident she'd be safe. Oh yes... good times ahead!

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie says, "We had a couple of the older girls thought it would be fun to throw around some fire crackers. Scared some of the younger students. Kurt sent them to talk to Jean for detention. Now trying to get things back on track, and relax the kids a bit, show them that their powers can be fun.""

Nightcrawler has posed:
Nearing the apex of his flight, Kurt flips and looks for where Shannon has angled herself. Twisting and jackknifing to adjust his direction before he disappears into a puff of indigo smoke, appearing again pointed with his nose going across Shannon's span, toes touching enough to suddenly pull himself into a light stepped run with a half flip across her wings, on his hands... whispering to her as he moves past the midpoint and using her wing, lightly, as a spring board on the upswing to pitch off into the air again, tumbling and twisting.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde's eyes lift into the air to follow Kurt and Shannon, even as she's talking to Sam. "Well, at least it was a good old firework and not Ellie dropping down from a balcony or something," she comments, but keeping it soft lest a student consider it validation of the fireworks.

"How's everything going with you Sam? Glad to see you at the bowling alley. Is the club going well? I haven't had a chance to check in on Roberto's corporation, but I imagine there will be a lot of opportunities to have the club involved in some fashion with what he's putting together?" she asks.

Nightingale has posed:
Oooo boy. This was going to be interesting. Shannon hadn't tried anything like this, but hey, the worst that was likely to happen was a bit of embarrassment if it didn't work, right? She changes the direction of her flight when she feels Kurt on her back, maneuvering herself so she can loop in the air, over and over, like a living hamster wheel with a midnight-blue hamster on her back. Maybe it was a good thing she'd skipped breakfast after all!

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy eagerly hands out Twinkies and milk, having a glass and a Twinkie for himself. He circulates, answering questions of students, giving pats and encouragement all around. "Kitty, Sam," he says approaching them. "What do you think our next ten years hold?" he asks, eyes going to the show above.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles over to Kitty, and says "Ellie aint that bad, she and I got a bit of an agreement, folks get a week or so before she can be really snarky and an extra week if there was trama for them coming in. Club's doing pretty good, got a couple bands playing regularly that Ah think have a chance. Need to ask Berto if X-corp is going to have a media/entertainment division." He looks over to Hank and says "Next ten years, probably a couple more Guthries at the least." He jokes "Hoping by them maybe we can be open about the school but not sure if we will be there by then.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty grins over to Hank, "I'll just be happy to see this crop grow up and take over," she says. "Though, listen to me, we're not even thirty yet, any of us," she comments.

The comment about more Guthries causes Kitty to grin over to Sam. "You do have a finite number of them, unless you've picked someone out to start adding to the list soon?" she says playfully. Kitty takes a sip of her iced tea and watches the students mingling. "Wow. It hasn't been all that long," she comments. Though for her it has been five years actually, having left school early for college.

Nightcrawler has posed:
With Shannon's movement in the loop he is actually running - with a measured light step, on all fours as she goes... very much yes, like a hamster on a wheel while she provides their lift and stability. The Bavarian actually looks, for those who can see that far, like he's in better spirits than when the m80 went off, actually laughing and twisting again. When Shannon loops his tail about her middle and then throws his bod so that while she is going end over end he is turning in a slow revolution within the hoop she is creating - again using the position to speak with her incognito.

Nightingale has posed:
Grinning, Shannon shifts to twist about in the air, before pulling her wings in tight to dive straight for the ground. She does keep her legs slightly bent and her feet flat to offer Kurt a platform to stand on during the descent. While this was far from her first time dive-bombing like this, it was probably the first time for some seeing her execute the maneuver; there were a few gasps and startled looks from other students witnessing the performance. One... she zooms towards the grass. Two... closer and closer, her shadow on the ground growing. THREE... "GO!" She executes a quick twist, and then snaps her wings outwards, throwing Kurt free and swooping upwards again. Her laughter chimes like little silver bells--this was awesome!

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy chuckles. "New generation taking over... At least gray and blue go together, as one day I sit on the board of trustees of a larger school. Maybe one day being able to be open and public about what it is. One day we'll get there." Eyes still on the two performers.

Nightcrawler has posed:
On the ride down, standing on her feet, Kurt has his arms out wide, years of performing in acrobatics helping him know where to put his limbs to keep from throwing the young lady off her balance. When she twists he lets her direct his flight, arms to his sides, legs curled around themselves as he pirouettes like a shaft from a crossbow. Letting himself come to just the point the grass of the yard is being pulled before he disappears in a BAMF! of smoke and displaced air to to appear behind Shannon, hands out to let her momentum pull her shoulders into his palms to help arrest his movement. "Wunderbar!" is called out before he curls, feet on her hips. "Little push!" and he rolls back, only pushing when he is directing her flight the way she is currently going. Stopping his fall and then leaping up into another teleportation ending with him popping up out of another cloud and onto the stage, one hand on his chest, the other out, palm up towards Shannon as she loops, as if this was all her and he was simply displaying it while catching his breath.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit more clapping at he watches them. "Shannon is improving thats good to see." He says to those around him. "Ah aint planning on adding any kids any time soon, but maybe by the time, the babs are done there classes. That give me eight to ten years Ah would say.

Cyclops has posed:
Walking out of the mansion and into the backyard, Scott Summers was certainly distracted. He was wearing a coloured dark blue shirt, navy dress pants, and dark shoes. His crimson sunglasses adorned his face, and with one brief moment, he uses his free hand, the one not holding the tablet, to push the glasses closer against his face. It looks like he was reading something on that tablet, and it was taking all of his attention.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty shades her eyes against the sun as she watches the winged student dive toward the ground with Nightcrawler in tow. She can't help but tense just slightly, while she wouldn't think twice about Warren doing something like that, Kitty has no idea where Shannon's flying skills are at yet. When it all turns out well she lets out a breath and smiles and gives a soft clap as well.

Kitty looks back to Hank. "Oh, you'd be bored sitting on a... er... board," she tells him, grinning slightly. "If it took you out of your lab for too long I could imagine you all antsy to get back to see how a petri dish or some other experiment were going," Kitty teases.

Kitty glances over and spots Scott emerging. "Hey Scott," she says, moving over to give the familiar face a quick side-hug of greeting if allowed, before letting him go. "How's the day going?" she asks. Kitty looks like she's just returned from work at the office.

Beast has posed:
Henry McCoy stares intently at the thrilling stunt, and will give a hearty clap himself, once it looks SAFE to make such noise. "Maybe you're right Kitty, maybe you're right. Maybe I should aim for a different role... Assistant Headmaster." He nods firmly at that. "Ruling student discipline with an iron fist. Though today would not have been a great start. Hey Scott."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins wide as she banks back towards the assembly area, backwinging to a semi-decent landing on the stage. "Fine one you are to call me 'wunderbar', you were pretty good yourself," she chides Kurt, laughing and taking a quick bow. She is, though, also equally quick to gesture towards him with theatrical flourish, making quite clear with the motion that the stunt was a -team- effort. Oh yeah. Definitely good times.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt Wagner laughs, "Wunderbar means Wonderful, Shannon." bowing with her, a good deal of arm movement and flourish of the tail with his, whispering to her. "Snap your wings when you bow, you'll get a shock and laugh response." giving theatrics lessons still as he stands back up, looking to assembled students and faculty. "Maybe I should talk to Jean about picking up that drama position..."

Cyclops has posed:
Hearing familiar voices, Scott looks up from his tablet, and scans the area with the precision he was known for. His eyes...settling on Kitty Pryde and Henry. Smiling, Scott begins to head towards them at a regular pace. "Henry. Kitty. Beautiful day." Scott lowers his left hand holding the table, and looks around, spotting Kurt and Shannon.

"Assistant Headmaster...aiming high. I'd support that. You are certainly someone who could do the job, Henry." A sideways glance at Kitty. "I think you'd do great in a senior role as well, Kitty. You are both irreplaceable." Scott nods, emphasizing his point.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smiles a bit more his backpack over one shoulder. He looks to the younger kids and says "You guys could learn to do things like that with practice. Never give up on yourself and what you can do, cause we never will. The people here will be here to help you and listen to you in every way they can, even when you have graduated and deciding what you want to do next.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon laughs and nods. "I kind of got that from the context. Don't sell yourself short though." She puts the impromptu theatrics lesson to good use, snapping her wings as she bows once more. "Like so? Ooooo... if you do start teaching drama, count me in!" Yeah. Someone got bit by the performance bug. Nice going, Kurt.

She plops down on the edge of the stage, swinging her legs over the edge and leaning back on her elbows, as much at ease as many have seen her. "He's not kidding about the practice part, guys. But it's worth it. You'll surprise yourselves, when the time comes."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde lets out a breath at the mention of her in such a role. "I'm way too young to be thinking about that, Scott!" Kitty protests good-naturedly. She just turned of age to buy a beer not too long ago. "I really don't know where my future lies, to be honest. Working for Stark is great. I could see continuing on there, or at some other company. Doug's helping out Roberto with the mutant corporation, that sort of thing has a lot of interest for me, too. Or maybe going back to JVD and helping Janet some more," she says of her earlier contract at the fashion house that started her off on her career.

Kitty glances towards the school building, thinking something else but there aren't any telepaths about to hear thankfully. "But, who knows. Maybe someday?" she says with a grin. Something she said tugs at a memory. "So... Tony is planning a strike that will include the Friends of Humanity Master Mold, the Sentinel factory they got ahold of," Kitty says, lowering her voice to just those near her. "Asked if we wanted to be in on it."

Cyclops has posed:
Hearing more voices, Scott looks over at Sam, Shannon, and Kurt, and then back at Kitty. "A lot has been going on lately. Glad that people have stepped up to take those leadership roles in the school. With the new school year about to start, that is important. Well done." Scott acknowledges Kitty and Henry easily, as he was wont to do.

"That is amazing Kitty. You have your pick of places to go. However...a lot of new students. Older ones graduating. Some even becoming important here as teachers and mentors. Things are going well around here." His expression was one of concern that things were going TOO well. "We need you here Kitty."
With all that, Scott listens to her next comments carefully. "Tony has asked for our help, and we need to be a part of it. The senior team at least.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Patting Shannon on the shoulder, Kurt casually front flips over the edge of the stage and starts towards the school. "I'll see if it's a possibility... This place could use more pirate adventures for people to participate in." winking to the young lady and then offers a nod to Scott and Kitty. "Guten morgen, friends." bowing his head to them. "I need to go look into that detention. I'll be back later." said before he steps inside the building

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie pulls out his phone for a moment, sending a text out, but does not get a quick reply so figures the person he is texting is busy. "Ok, Now everyone remmeber trash in the trash cans. We are having movie day tomorrow in the Rec Room. You can vote on movies till lights out tonight. PG-13 and below, anything R will be reviewed, and if allowed will be after nine pm." This gets an aww no fair from the younger kids. "Hey I just control the TV what you expect me t do." He grins "Ok, have fun, and remember classes start Monday morning, anyone have any questions find one of your advisers before the end of the day if possible."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon hops off of the stage and stretches out, drawing her wings in close; the show was over, time to get back to normal. Just what -was- normal around here, anyways? Hopefully there was some of that Twinkies cake left. She'd worked up quite an appetite with that fancy flying, so if it was edible and not nailed down or already heading for someone else's belly, look out! She waves to Sam and grins. "Hey... about movie night, what's up on the list for voting?" She waves to Scott and smiles, and to Kitty as well.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde smiles over to Shannon as she waves, and gives the girl a nod of greeting. "Nice flying," Kitty says. She looks back to Scott and Sam and nods and says, "I'll let the Avengers know. It would be nice to put that Mold out of commission, not to mention, as much as I hate seeing a big one, at least those you know what they are when you see them," she says.

Kitty motions to a few students who are passing. "And don't forget it's Alek's birthday today. So wish him a happy one if you see him. And Mr. Parker's is tomorrow," she adds. Kitty looks back to the others then to say, "I think we're doing karaoke with some of his friends. I'm pretty sure Scott moonlights as a singer somewhere without telling us, so should really come along."

Cyclops has posed:
Looking over at Sam for a moment, Scott smiles. Then, looks over at Shannon. A quick wave. Back to the topic at hand. "Great. They should know (as in the Avengers) that we will support them in this fight. I hate seeing a big one as much as you, but it has to be done."

Scott nods to each student as they wander by, taking a moment to acknowledge each and every one of them. "Yes. It is Alex's birthday today. I will make sure to tell him Happy Birthday. Thank you for the reminder Kitty. That was thoughtful." Scott chuckles. "Not really a singer, but thanks. I am sure ALex wants to spend the night with his friends and not his stuck up older brother."

Scott puts up a hand, forestalling the coming argument. "I will think about it. Thank you Kitty." Scott turns, to do his duty as, well, who he was. Scott Summers. Greeting everyone he could, and making them all feel welcome.

Nightingale has posed:
"Oh, frak. What kind of cake do they both like?" Dangit! Shannon was just -not- going to have a chance to get something to eat before having to hit the ground running today, was she? She does smile at Kitty, though. "Thanks. And... if you guys need help out there, just ask." She smiles and waves at everyone, grabbing some Twinkies on her way by the table. She has no qualms about stuffing them in her mouth at this point, manners going out the window in favor of pure hunger. The winged healer disappears into the mansion, very likely for her usual haunt--the kitchen. It was going to be a long day.
