Profile

Born a princess of the kingdom of Colchis, Circe was exhiled to her island home, Aeaea. It was here that she cultivated her powers as a sorceress and traded her soul to Hecate for power, immortality, and eternal beauty. The reclusive sorceress has lived for over three thousand years, leaving her island only to sow chaos and discord wherever she goes, or to lure men to their doom at her own hands.

Description

The woman personifies 'ageless beauty', her features Grecian with the high, almost regal brow and oval face marred not by the years that have passed. Pale flesh is make to look more milk-like thanks to the shock of her violet hair which is left unbound, allowed to be caught by the breeze or lay over her shoulder and back as it will. Her eyes are equally unusual, a vivid red which compliments the color of those long tresses. The woman's by no means short, bordering on quite the opposite at just an inch shy of 6' even.

A gown made of the finest satin is what the sorceress wears, the material dyed a purple which is almost 'royal' it is so dark. There is nothing modest about it, it designed to conform to every curve and swell, held to her upper body by two thin straps. Her 'charms' are proudly displayed thanks to the fact that the neckline is cut low and the back even more so. The garment is long enough for the hem to brush the floor and trail behind her by a foot in a short train which lends an elegance to it. Heels push her over the six-foot mark by several inches, making her more statuesque than normal.

History

  • In the past, Circe was a Princess of Colchis. Was driven out when her subjects objected to her having killed her weak husband.
    * After seeking refuge upon Aeaea, Circe began her quest for great power. After the luring in of sailors by the use of her sirens wasn't enough, Hecate struck a bargain with her, granting her eternal beauty, immortality and power, giving Circe her soul as her body died. As Hectate passed a prophecy was made: "Upon the death of witch and the birth of witch, Hecate, by name and choice, shall repossess her soul."
    * Over the next 3000 years Circe would sow hate and discontent among many people and would eventually become the enemy of the Amazons.
    * Now in the 'modern times', Circe has redoubled her efforts in growing powerful, continuing to study magic.

Personality

Circe is, first and foremost, a cold woman whose capacity to love and respect mankind died thousands of years ago, even before she was granted immortality. She takes a sadistic pleasure in manipulating others, often causing those who look like fun playthings to fall in love with her with no hope of such feelings every being returned. Much like a cat, it is best that others try to stay as far away from her as possible or run the risk of becoming her next toy.

Abilities

DURABILITY
With the power granted by Hecate, Circe is far tougher than a fragile human and can withstand punishment that would send mortals to the hospital with only bruises to show for it.

IMMORTALITY
Circe is an immortal and will live effectively forever with the power granted by Hecate. She can still be physically harmed, and does not regenerate at an accelerated rate (except with magic or other forms of healing at her disposal), but she can return even if her physical form is seemingly destroyed, usually returning to her island to recover her health and power.

MIND MANIPULATION
Circe's magic extends to the manipulation of minds, allowing her to seem charismatic and nearly irresistible, especially to men. She is capable of ensnaring and ensorceling the minds of the average mortal with ease. Altering perceptions and memories, hypnosis, and magic-induced lethargy and tiredness are all within the realm of possibility. (With OOC consent of any targets of such magic)

SORCERY
Circe is a powerful and feared sorceress, able to command magics that threaten the stability of Olympus itself. Her most basic and easy-to-use magic includes matter transmutation, destructive blasts, and shields. She is especially fond of turning people into animals, but can also change them into objects, or turn objects into other things, or even animate them. She can also choose to return such altered people/things to their natural states.

Among her other abilities are illusions, teleportation, scrying, time manipulation, and magical communications. Circe is capable of producing many types and forms of magic (her power grows even stronger when upon her home island), yet these more esoteric forms take more time, sometimes require arcane and time-consuming rituals, and expend more energy than her more favored abilities above.

(Consent required where applicabale, such as PC transformations. Staff will be contacted for particularly powerful spells which would last longer than the outcome of a single scene and affect more than the people within it. Magical ability strengthens greatly upon the island of Aeaea.)

STRENGTH
Circe has enhanced strength and is able to lift upwards of 100 tons. If pushed hard enough, its possible that she could double this weight limit, but it would only be under extreme circumstances that she would ever be pushed to this level.

Skills

ALCHEMY
Over her millennia-long existence, Circe has learned to craft powerful and potent concoctions, which can grant otherworldly powers to those who imbibe them. Superhuman strength, durability, prowess, powers, knowledge and more can all be distilled into such potions. The more powerful the boons granted, the harder and more time-consuming it is to make and gather ingredients for, and yet can grant capabilities to rival the gods themselves for limited duration. (For the sake of game balance, the results will only last until the end of a scene)

CHARISMA
Circe is very good at bending people to her will. Through the clever use of manipulation, she can bend another person to her will, this talent particularly effective against males of the human species.

COMBAT
Physical combat is generally beneath the contempt of Circe. She is a sorceress of incredible power and versatility. Her knowledge is vast and her acument great. Despite this, Circe can compete with trained Amazon warriors for a brief time in physical combat. She is adroit and poised enough to use her strength and durability to great effect. Circe has the most basic of grasps of combat. Punches, kicks, along with a few tackles and throws are all Circe knows. With her physical power, her limited prowess is usually enough.

HISTORY
You can't live for as long as she has and not have some kind of keen grasp on what has happened in the past. She is equally adept at telling stories of those events.

Resources

AEAEA
Circe's home island in Greece. It is where her palace and base of power is. Populated by humans who fear her and beastmorphs who guard her home, Circe's power is at its peak upon the island. She can control the very fabric of reality here, and is strong enough that the Greek Gods she so often antagonizes do not simply band together to make war upon her there.

When she is damaged enough, she teleports here to heal and recover her energies. But though they fear her greatly, many of the island's inhabitants would not hesitate to turn upon her if they sensed weakness.

On the island, she actually can utterly rewrite the reality of any and all people and things that come there. This power has kept her alive with her wars and battles with the Gods. Her power in her 'realm' is enough that even they must defer to her while there. Battling her on Aeaea is strongly contra-indicated.

BESTIAMORPHS
Men (and women) that Circe has ensorceled and mutated into half-men, half-animals. They serve their mistress and guard her house, and jealously vie for her favor among each other. Yet, many know they are slaves and chafe against their figurative chains. They are generally quicker, tougher, and more powerful than ordinary mortals, typically embodying the physical traits of the animals they resemble. A rhinoman or cow woman will typically be stronger and more durable. Against foes like Wonder Woman, they are little more than a nuisance, so Circe tends to use and deploy them in squads and for a specific purpose and task.

When anticipating partuicularly difficult odds, Circe uses her vat knowledge of Alchemy to juice her beastiamorphs upwards; usually just a couple of 'champions'. Rather than shore up weaknesses, Circe tends to accentuate the positive, granting superhuman levels of strength (up to rivaling Wonder Woman's) to a select few followers for the length of the mission.

GRIMORE
This is the book that contains all of her spells. It is no exaggeration when it is said that this is her most important possession.

IDENTITIES
Circe adopts one of several identities when she moves among the mortals, doing so to make remaining undetected easier. These identities are checked and enhanced via magic. She prefers Donna Milton, but also uses Rachana Starlight. She can casually change her appearance, and uses this ability to better use these identities.

KNOWLEDGE
Three thousand years is a long time to live. Without even trying a person can gain a wide array of knowledge in that time. And Circe has certainly been trying. She was there for most of civilization's later half of history, and has forgotten more about magic than most will ever know.

Weaknesses

AMAZONS
Circe believes that the survival and re-emergence of the Amazons may be a sign that Hacate's prophecy, and subsequent possession of her body and soul, may soon be at hand. As such she fears them and seeks their demise.

ARROGANCE
None are above the ancient sorceress, few are her equal, and all are beneath her. Her arrogance and pride make her a hard woman to work with in anything resembling a partnership, as she will always treat others as inferior. This leads to a lack of loyalty, even among her own followers, and a lack of people who wish to enter into long-term arrangements with the insufferable witch.

GODS
Gods and other mystically-powered immortals are granted some degree of protection from Circe's spell, as she's not so easily able to simply transmute them into something harmless or eradicate them from existence.

MOLY
An herb which can disrupt and dispel Circe's magic. Ingesting it gives a person some measure of resistance to her spells. It is her principal physical weakness.
