Quote | |||
"I've lived through the end of the word a lot in this town ... The Green taking over, earthquakes, plagues - Bullock and I would call it Apocalypse Wednesdays because it seemed like a weekly occurrence ... hell, it never seems to end around here. But in my experience, no matter how these freaks try to convince us otherwise ... the sun always rises eventually. I know it doesn't seem like it sometimes with the Bat around, but people here count on us. Especially in times like this." | |||

Profile
James Gordon is the Commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department, or the G.C.P.D. While he has caught a bit of flak for working with Batman over the years, he has gotten more results than most other Gotham commissioners in Gotham's recorded history. He's been a little jaded because he's had to work with a corrupt detective who's always in his face, a SWAT commander who's in the pocket of just about every crime gang in Gotham, and more, but he's put more nut jobs behind bars and in Arkham because he works covertly with Batman and his group.

Description
Description:
The man has the knuckles of a long-time boxer. He usually wears grey or black suits with a tie and suspenders. None of it is designer, but it all fits his form well.
History
History:
After he was out of the Marines he joined the Chicago Police Department and married his High School sweetheart. He worked hard and became a detective after a few years. He became a decorated detective, though he began making a lot of enemies when he uncovered numerous cases of corruption in the police force. It was around this time that they had his son. He was troubled and dangerous, and he ran away at a young age. It continues to haunt Jim. He took a transfer to Gotham due to the rising heat and to start over after his son left. Not long after his daughter Barbara was born.
He ruffled a lot of feathers over the years as he worked hard to clean up Gotham and do his job. He was the one who had the bat signal installed, even if he was originally against the idea of the vigilante. He attempted to retire a few times, but was always pulled back in. Recently he was voted in as Commissioner, and has made it his mission to make Gotham the city the locals deserve.
Personality
Personality:
Abilities
Willpower:
Skills
Criminology:
James has an honorary doctorate in Criminology from Gotham State University. He is pretty good at following the teachings of various criminologists, and knowing how the criminal mind works, to a point.
Hand-To-Hand:
James was an amateur boxer as a young man, and then he joined the US Marines in 1990. He became known for his boxing skills while in, winning some competitions. He became a Green Beret, where he further honed his skills. When he got out and became a cop he continued to keep in shape. Now, in this fifties, he can still go quite a few rounds, and can give street punks a run for their money. He could even take on some real villains in a fistfight...though he does not have what he once did.
Investigation:
He spent years as a detective before he became the Commissioner. He was always a very good detective, too. He knows how to handle a crime scene, how to interrogate a witness, how the chain of evidence works, and everything else included. He is also very good at putting the pieces together to solve a case.
Law:
He understands the ins and outs of the law, and he knows where to push and where to pull. He prides himself in not being a corrupt cop (Not counting working with vigilantes!) so he takes it all quite seriously. He believes in the law, and what it can do.
Leadership:
James is charismatic. He has the ability to gain trust and to inspire. He is a passionate man and a true believer, and he is able to really project an aura of a leadership. It is the ability to draw people in to believe in a better way, and to get people to agre to work with him.
Marksman:
Resources
Bat Family:
He has worked with the Bat Family for years now. He is the one who installed the original Bat Signal, and he has helped them in many situations, and vice versa.
Brownstone:
He has lived in the same old brownstone in Gotham for years. It is where he raised his daughter. He barely kept the place after his divorce, but he managed. He has a good security system, as well as weaponry hidden here or there...as it has been invaded before.
Gcpd:
Weaknesses
Addiction:
James has quit smoking six times and counting. A life like his is incredibly stressful, and he has returned to his cigarettes and his cigars each time he has quit.
Enemies:
Jim has a lot of people who hate him. For one, you have the various villains out there. He has helped put many of them into Arkham, or behind bars. You also have the mundane criminals who would love to kill the famous Gordon. Sadly, he also has many enemies on his own side of the law. He has worked hard over his career to clean up corruption in the infamously corrupt city, and there have been several attempts on his life due to it.
