Profile

The young woman known as LEAH exists to serve the will of Hela, queen of the realm of Hel. That's one L, for clarity. Sent on a range of tasks, Leah's most frequent duty is to walk the Nine Realms and find those who, by ancient accord, are set to Hela's cold realm of the Dead - which can be a surprise. Those who encounter her on these perambulatory quests to deal with the mysteries of the occult are often struck by her commitment to green dresses and her poor attitude.

ALLSPEAK

As an Asgardian, Leah speaks the Allspeech, which lets her speak with other godly individuals freely, and is understood by mortals and others as speaking in their native language, if sometimes with a peculiar accent or word choice.

ASGARDIAN

While she was magicked up by Hela in order to do work so Hela could continue her streak of "not doing that work," Leah is an Asgardian in a physiological sense. She is about three times stronger, tougher and more agile than her frame would suggest, were she taken as a human. She is also very resistant to toxins, diseases, and so on. Her lifespan is also greatly prolonged relative to Earth humans, although it is not infinite.

NECROMANCY

You can't spell "necromancer" without "romance."

That's not important right now. Leah is able to speak with the spirits of the restless dead and sense their presence. Weak creatures (magically raised zombies, rude minor elementals, etc.) she can simply banish outright, although things that suffer the curse of living death through other means do not get the privilege of being put to rest by her arts.

NO SLEEP TIL...

Leah does not need to sleep at any point. She is /capable/ of it but in the same way that she's capable of getting on the Internet. Like Bartleby, she prefers not to.

PORTALS

Leah can open portals to various locations in the Nine Realms and, with guidance, other adjoining areas. This requires some ritualistic run-up and won't be able to overcome various forms of blocking without aid, making it much less flexible than various other forms of teleportation. It still beats United.

SORCERY

As part of her duties as a handmaiden of Hela, Leah has learned sorcery on what could be called a journeyman level... or perhaps a journeywoman-into-mystery level. Most of this is practical stuff - bolts of bedevilment, magical shields, simple constructs, etc. Some specific highlights are in other ability levels. She is, generally speaking, more powerful than a mortal mage who is otherwise unremarkable, but less so than a god or goddess, a powerful demon, etc.

THE PERFECT DISGUISE

Leah can use magic to veil her presence and seem to be in the appropriate place, allowing her to speak with individuals in authority while seeming to be in a situation where she belongs there. This isn't really invisibility, nor does it make it impossible to see her, but typically speaking, the sheriff she asks for directions to the metal band tour bus explosion won't remember she was there. (Unless he really tries. Any effects of this kind on PCs would be consent-based and discussed previously.)

Skills

CUTTING WORDS

Leah is extremely good at saying things that are mean or insulting in a way that makes people upset, though rarely furious unless she's really trying. This is how servants blow off steam.

HELPING

Leah is a professional handmaiden and is very good at knowing how to help someone out in various ways, overt and covert. And also knowing when not to help. It's a combination of menial task skills and people-reading. She can also cooperate with occult procedures, adding her non-trivial power to them, in many cases.

THE OCCULT

Leah is an avid and widely-read student of the occult, and has access to (most of) Hela's library as well. Her primary focus is on matters pertaining to the dead, naturally enough, but she's heard of most of the other stuff too.

Resources

NIFLHEIM

Leah can go hang out in Hel if she wants, and receives small amounts of frost-litten gold to exchange for mortal currencies while on missions. This is not much but she can administer small bribes or shop for food.

THORI

Leah is occasionally responsible for a small ill-tempered hel-hound. Thori is ill tempered and capable of speech, as well as being able to breathe fire and track scents, sometimes even across dimensional boundaries. More frequently Thori mindlessly threatens things and talks about matters that concern dogs.

Weaknesses

MISSION

Leah's typical day to day missions involve travelling around to find mortals who are supposed to be in Hela's domain. These people are typically either people Hela struck deals with (it happens), individuals deeply committed to Death in the "abstract and awesome" sense, some strains of asatruar or other Norse cultural enthusiasts, or people who came to nihilism out of weariness and depression. Leah has to round up their souls when they can't move on.

OBSTINATE TECHNOPHOBE

Leah does not cotton to all this modern equipment laying around and refuses to use the Internet. (To a large extent this is a pose, although she does not care to learn more than superficial use of mortal contrivances.)

THE BOSS

Leah has to do what Hela tells her to do OR ELSE. OR ELSE may include complete obliteration, which keeps her in line when considering matters of sedition. If matters do not concern Hela's interests (which are wide ranging but not infinite), Hela will not really care - but on the other hand, you know, obliteration.

UNPLEASANT

Leah's demeanor is a know-it-all ice-cold death-on-wheels type. This aggravates many people on first impression; while Leah is rarely *actually rude*, she is also rarely *actually nice*.
