Owner Pose
Mon-El     So! After our intrepid heroes traveled to the lawless planet of Omega to rescue Corlis' two dear daughters from the hands of slavers and return them home to Daratar, the Emperor was so happy that he decided to throw a big party to celebrate that as well as open his planet's gates to the rest of the galaxy after spending many years staying mostly out of galactic affairs.

The event promised plenty of free food, drinks, and entertainment such as music, games, and all that sort of thing. It is held in a large indoor garden courtyard at the heart of the royal mansion, though it is so beautiful and natural looking that one might not even realize it is indoor unless he realized that the ceiling was actually just a holographic sky instead of a real one.

All sorts of folk have come from all around the galaxy, and make for quite the eclectic crowd. Music is playing, and some local dancers are spinning about twirling some kind of glowing ribbon on a rod. It is pretty neat looking.

Corlis and his daughters are sitting at one of the many tables that have been set up around the courtyard, trying to politely divide their attention between all the people who were hoping to get an audience.
Sindr Sindr is there with the proverbial bells on; she is garbed in what appears to be actual fire. A long dress with a flowing train an shawl, flaming accents to her hair that one moment appear to be feathers and the next violent tongues of writhing fire, and a crown of all things; perhaps some might consider it pretentious, right up until she is announced at the shindig as Sindr, Queen of Muspelheim.
There are some attendants to her as well - people who were rescued and now serve her. They are accented with things of fire, but their clothes are otherwise entirely normal if likewise entirely fancy.
Of course, Sindr has the wherewithall to approach the reigning monarchs first to pay her respects.
Ace Ace is fairly fresh off of a little backwater planet whose name is a synonym for dirt. As such she's fairly much in wide-eyed awe at the things that most other space going galactic denziens would consider commonplace. What really grabs her attention is any machines, computers, or any other high-tech devices that she's never seen before, which would be most of them. With this she has to weigh things such as "how much would the owner miss it if they didn't have it anymore?" or "How long would it take them to realize that they no longer have it?"
Kinsey MacKenna Kinsey is supposed to be learning how to use her ring. Today's task, as given by Saint Walker himself, is travelling - without him. And while she has some suspicions he may trail her, he's not accompanying his young Blue protege.

Which is how she happens to end up outside the planet's atmosphere, looking more than a little lost. It's one thing to *get* somewhere, and quite another to know what you're supposed to do once you get there.
Tyran'tar     Being a prominent presence in the galaxy, a couple of green lanterns were assigned to attend the party. While not exactly his forte of skills, Tyran'tar volunteered and gave the excuse to blackfire that he was working on a weapons job to get new tamaran more weapons to use to defend the planet. It is flying out of his ship, does his ring glow and become more charged then usual. Seeing a woman in the atmosphere with a blue ring, he flies over, using the ring's own forcefield ability and relying on his racial ability to fly. "You look a little lost." He says in fluent english to the woman, thanks to the ring's translation matrix.
Mon-El     Lar is here, too, wearing one of the outfits he somehow found lying around the cruiser that must have been from his uh...well, from when he still lived with his family on Daxam. Probably one of those uncomfortable 'princely' things that he always hated wearing for those stuffy formal occasions.

He was about to get in line to talk to the royal family as well, but Sindr's appearance catches his attention, his eyes widening just a little bit. Well then. "Ember?" he asks, an eyebrow going up. "Wow, I didn't know you were...uh..." He doesn't get to finish his sentence though, because she has also caught the royal family's attention.

Corlis looks up at her, smiling broadly. "Ember...my, my. You look impressive, if I do say so myself. I had no idea you were a female of such...status. Thank you again, for all you've done. I don't know what we would have done without you. Please, have a seat, and I hope you enjoy the party." he says, inviting her to sit at their table.

Certainly, there are a lot of high-tech decorations in here. Like a fountains full of some kind of glowing aqua-colored liquid. Or is it just water with some kind of special dye? It dances about in the air as if someone telekinetic were manipulating it, forming all sorts of fancy shapes and designs. Or the holographic sky with clouds rolling across it as if it were real. However, security is also pretty tight. In fact, Ace might get some 'looks' from guards if she does anything suspicious or looks like she's planning on stealing something...
Mon-El     As for those outside the atmosphere looking for the party, there is a signal being broadcasted into orbit containing the invitation message and directions to the festivities.
Sindr "I know." Sindr says sweetly and with some amusement to Lar, smiling at the man. When Corlis speaks up, she replies, "There are times my identity can get in the way of my purpose, your Majesty; do forgive the deception, but I felt it necessary until now. Thank you so much for your hospitality." She does sit with them, saying, "I hope you won't mind if I rise to mingle later?"
Ace Ace generally looks like she is going to steal something, but assumes (or rather hopes) that the guards won't do anything so long as she keeps her hands to herself. So instead she just keeps herself occupied by running some basic and nonintrusive scans on a fountain with her arm mounted computer. Likely no one else knows what said computer originally was, as it's a Nintendo Power Glove from Earth that she's repurposed to be a multi-purpose tool with various different functions. Her fingers tap at the rubber of the buttons while the results of the scans are displayed in the lenses of her sunglasses.
Kinsey MacKenna Kibou, Kinsey's ring, is happily sending her the broadcast as Tyran'tar arrives.

"Kinsey! It would seem that there is an open invitation to attend a - Green Lantern approaching. Shall I contact and prepare to offer services?"

He's barely informed the new Blue before the Green in question arrives and gives greeting, which is still more than a little bewildering to the woman.

"Uh.. well, yes," she sends via the same method as Tyran'tar speaks to her. "I'm afraid I'm still rather new to this. I've been told there's a party below. Though I hadn't come here for that reason. Oh, dear. Let me begin again."

There's a warmth to her voice and an apologetic smile as she introduces herself to the Green Lantern, "I'm Si- actually, just Kinsey will do. Freshly minted Blue here, and I'm afraid I don't quite know where 'here' is, but my ring was just informing that there seems to be a celebration below with an open invitation. Were you, by chance, attending?"
Tyran'tar     "It is supposed to be a celebration I am supposed to attend. Part of my duties as a green lantern." He says as he smiles at the woman. He then begins to fly lower to the party with the blue lantern in tow. "Come on down and enjoy yourself. Just avoid offending the other races. Your ring should provide an AI which will instruct you on the best way to avoid causing problems." He says with a smile as he watches her. "Where are you from?" He asks curiously.
Mon-El     Corlis nods at Sindr's explanation. "Oh, of course. I can fully understand that. And of course, you are most welcome, we are happy to accommodate. It's the least we can do for the safety of our daughters. And certainly, if feel free to mingle when you wish. But if you wouldn't mind, tell me more about yourself. Where do you come from? Are you the ruler of a planet, as I am?"

Ace's scans will reveal that the liquid is mostly water, and contains tiny metal particles coated with a hydrophilic polymer that 'carries' it in a sense, and are being manipulated by ever-changing magnetic fields that must be determining the shapes that form. Kind of like those little magnet toys with iron shavings in them that some people might have played with as kids except much more advanced. As she's standing there examining, Lar approaches her. "Neat, huh. You Terran?" he asks. He's a little surprised, people from Earth didn't usually come out this far during this uh, time in history.
Ace Ace furrows her brow and says, "Hm... yeah... okay, interesting. I mean it seems like there would be better applications for this than a fountain. Still neat." She talks to herself, regardless of how it makes her look to the people around her. She sends off the data back to her ship so that she can look over it in more depth when she has time. When Lars approacher her she jumps, forgetting for a moment that there is a party going on around her.

"GAH! What? Terran? Uh, yeah- I'm from Earth," she responds. With a flick of her forearm she deactivates the Power Glove. "Yeah, FTL is pretty rare on Earth. But I found a crashed alien ship. Well Gramps found it, but I fixed it up. It was sitting out in the desert for a few hundred thousand years or so. Don't know what race made it though." She rambles, but she's yet to find anyone to talk to about this since she first left the planet.
Sindr Sindr's smile is that polite sort that monarchs do. "I am Queen of Muspelheim, one of the ten Realms as counted by Asgard; my father recently passed in one of his wars, and now I'm left to... pick up the pieces, as it were." She wonders curiously, "Have you heard of Asgard out this way? I'm afraid my home isn't much for spacefaring; a thing we seek to change of course."

Idly, she keeps some of her attention on the goings on of the party; looking for people she knows, keeping track of them, seeking out any possible hostile parties and the like. A warrior queen, she has a keen sense of these things.
Kinsey MacKenna Tyran'tar is given an odd look from Kinsey, "Why do people keep asking me that? You're the second in as many days to.." Voice drifting off as he both encourages her, and drags her along to join the party. "Actually, I'm from Earth. Which likely means little to you." Beyond his ring is probably quite capable of telling him anything he's lacking about the place.

"What is this party, then? You'll have to forgive me, I'm rather more used to local texts, or phone calls inviting me places." And not even that in recent years as her studies had dragged her increasingly further away from the people she'd known from her childhood.

Then, because why not, she shrugs and decides to go with the flow. How bad could it be anyway? And what xenobiologist worth their salt would turn down the opportunity.

"I'm sure between Kibou and yourself we can keep me from making the worst of the faux pas. And," she adds, "I'm a fast learner. You'll see. It's going to be perfectly alright."

Ah, Blues and their interminable cheery optimism.
Tyran'tar     Tyran'tar smiles as he leads her to the party and looks to those present. A brief scan of the area as a green light comes from the ring and verifies the people arent carrying any weapons to do major harm. He then looks to Kinsey. "I have a couple friends from earth. I been in earth's orbit but I never directly visited. I am from Tamaran...I guess I should say I was from tamaran. It was destroyed in a war long ago. We are colonizing a new world similar to our own." He says calmly.

He then begins to approach the various people, his Tamaranean military uniform glowing and changing into his green lantern uniform. Lar and Sindr is given a nod. "It is good to see you recovering, Prince Lar. I trust all is well?" He asks calmly as he glances to Sindr and watches her. Maybe he is checking her out.
Mon-El     "Hm." Corlis doesn't seem to have heard of that place, but he does seem to recognize the name of Asgard. "Ah, yes. Asgard, I have heard some about that one. Can't say the same about Muspelheim, but I will have to change that, then! I do enjoy learning about other systems and planets from which I have met dear friends and valued allies. Mmm, yes I do hope you and your people will aim to begin traversing the stars more just as we have resolved to do from now on. There is so much to discover."

"I'm sure that thing is only one of the many ways that particular technology is utilized here." Lar chuckles, having overheard Ace talking to herself, and also when she startles. "A crashed ship, huh? Interesting, what did it look like?"

Then Tyran'tar arrives. "Yeah, I'm fine." he replies to the question from the green lantern. "Happy to see you here." He pauses and glances at Ace. "Oh uh, what's your name?" he asks the girl.
Ace Ace shrugs, "It was over a hundred thousand of years old dude, it looked like a pile of crap. Most of now is repurposed Earth garbage. The only parts from the orignal ship are the SYED drive, the computer, and the armor generator. I made it look like the ship of Galaga." Mind you she doesn't realize that people from thousands of light-years away might not know about a retro arcade game.
Sindr "Precisely why I wish to expand our horizons, as it were. There is so much to discover; technology, culture, and of course friends and allies. It's taking a lot of work, of course. I feel like I'm pulling my people out of the stone ages." Sindr says with some amusement in her tone. There's even one of those courtly chuckles. Of course, if they only knew how accurate that statement was, others may not be quite so quick to laugh.
All the while, she's casually watching the interaction between Lar and Ace. Then Tyrantar shows up, and of course she now has to excuse herself. She waits long enough for Corlis to respond to her, then makes her excuse to mingle, "Do pardon; I'll most certainly return, but I should greet some acquaintances of mine."
Kinsey MacKenna Tyran'tar earns a sympathetic look from the woman. "I'm terribly sorry. That does seem to be a theme, doen't it? Planets being destroyed and all. You'd think they'd make them a little less destructible." Her joke light, and not without apology, Kinsey following him until they come to the vicinity of the others, whom he addresses.

Kinsey, of course, isn't old enough to have been around for the release of Galaga, but by the time she hit her pre-teen and teen years, the game had stood in the corner of more than one arcade, retro games being something of a thing until the 2000's, and then again in the late 2010's. Leaving the woman, still in her Blue Lantern outfit for the moment, to remark, "Oh my. That does take me back, and regretably ages me, but Galaga?"

Ace is given a rather keen look. Not to mention, it occurs to Kinsey that she's come halway across a galaxy or two, only to run into several people quite familiar with her home planet.

Belatedly, she remembers to drop the uniform, leaving a rather non-descript woman in her mid-thirties. Confident and calm, but decidedly not really someone you'd take a second look at in a crowd, other than the fact she did arrive with another Lanternn.

Beyond that, she's quiet for the moment, waiting to be addressed herself by the one she's guessing may be their host, curious as to who or what else may be gathered here.
Tyran'tar     "It is a pleasure to serve." Tyran'tar says to the prince before looking back over to Kinsey. "I agree. They should make planets less fragile." He says with a chuckle before moving to watch Sindr and he looks around again. Making sure other people werent present he nods to Kinsey and begins to look around the crowds. He remains in his spot, remaining alert in the event that someone decided to do more with their drinks then drink it.
Mon-El     Oh of course none of them are thinking it was an -actual- stone age. They're assuming that if she's here on another planet, her world must at least have some kind of space-faring technology, if limited. So yes, Corlis and his daughters do chuckle a little bit at that. "Of course, we wish you all the best in your endeavors, my friend. And if there is anything we can do to help, please don't hesitate to contact me."

Lar nods at Ace's answer. "Well that is impressive that you were able to salvage a wreck that old." he says, smiling genuinely. "But who's Galaga?" Then someone else seems to be echoing the name, and he looks to Kinsey, who also seems to be from Earth. "Well what do you know, someone else from Earth. I guess I was wrong about Terrans not usually coming out this way." he chuckles. "I'm Lar Gand, by the way." he says to those in the conversation who might not have met him before.
Ace Ace thinks and replies to Lars, "It's... a game on a computer? Is that a thing in the universe? Anyway I was able to fix it because I'm like... super smart." She gives a wicked smile and points to herself with her thumb. Mind you the girl with her hair dyed blue wearing a t-shirt with a Nintendo cartridge and the words "Blow Me" under it doesn't look like she would be a genius- so people just have to take her word for it.

"Yeah, the Galaga. What of it? It was Grandpa's favorite game in his mini-arcade," she responds to Kinsey.
Sindr "More Midgard people, here?" Sindr inquires as she arrives at the small cluster of people around Lar. Smiling, she segues into greeting Lar, "Hello again; sorry I didn't stick around earlier, had to pay the respects to the hosts. Good to see you again." Then to Tyran'tar, "And you, Tyran'tar."

She looks between the two fellows, and then to the ladies present, and inquires, "Could you introduce me to your Midgardian friends?" Yes, she is dressed in what appears to be actual fire, even though it doesn't seem to be burning anything. But man it sure /looks/ like fire. Even seems to radiate a bit of heat, in spite of the no burning stuff.
Kinsey MacKenna "Galaga?" Kinsey answers Ace. "Oh, nothing wrong with the game, other than I feel incredibly old now. Your grandfather you say? I'm assuming you're from earth then."

Turning her attention to Lar to nod something of an inclination of head to him. "I'm surprised. You seem to have gathered a bevy of us. Given that my people really aren't what you'd call a deep space faring folk, this is rather surprising to me. And I'm Kinsey MacKenna. As it happens, from Earth."

Sindr asking about 'Midgard' - another of those unusual sorts of occurences, and one that has a keen look from the woman. "Very few refer to us as that. Your outfit is scintillating."

She leaves the introductions to Tyran'tar.
Tyran'tar     "This is Kinsey. She is a blue lantern." Tyran'tar says as he smiles to Sindr. "I believe what you call midgard is earth? It is the only place which makes sense." He says as he begins to get a call on his ring. He then nods. "Excuse me for a minute." He says as he begins to find a place private to do his call.
Mon-El     "If you managed that, I don't doubt it." Lar replies to Ace. Her appearance doesn't really have an effect on whether he would consider her a genius or not, given he doesn't really have -that- much knowledge of Terran norms. Maybe more than some of the others in attendance, but still--he didn't grow up there. He nods at the explanation about Galaga. "Oooh, one of those. I see." he says with a smile.

Then Sindr approaches again. "Oh, don't worry about it, it was perfectly appropriate." As for introducing the Earth people. "Um, well I just met -her-. And, I...don't think I got your name?" he says, turning toward Ace, since Kinsey seems to have taken care of her own introduction.

He also takes a moment to at least offer a handshake toward the Blue Lantern. "A pleasure to meet you, Ms. McKenna. I'm glad to see so many Lanterns here today." At that, a friendly glance is pointed in Tyran'tar's direction too even as he excuses himself to take a call.
Saint Walker It turned out Sister Kinsey was right, Walker had been following her, albiet from a respectful distance of several parsecs, letting his ring show him the way.

That same ring brings him word about the party, and well, that and the chance to meet fellow sentients is too hard to pass up.

So shortly after Lar remarks of so many Lanterns being present another strolls in. This one a rail thin Astonian of middling height, who has dispensed with the Blue Lantern uniform and wears simple grey monk's robes, though the blue ring sitting on his finger gives his true nature away.

Helping himself to some food, he makes his way towards Kinsey and those around her.
Ace Ace nods to Lars. "There is a lot about the ship though that I don't understand. Well I mean I kinda understand the stuff that I don't understand." She wrinkles her forehead as she strains to think of the way to best explain it. "I think that I understand the stuff like on an instinct level, but not on an intellectual level. The armor system is just weird. Hell, I'm not making a bit of sense." She sighs.

She looks to Kinsey and says, Yeah. Born and raised in Arizona. In a piss-ant little town right outside of Phoenix. It was like eighty-percent trailer park."
Sindr There is a brief moment of amusement of the long suffering sort. A brow is arched as Tyran'tar excuses himself and she watches him wander off for but a moment. Then Lar defers to Ace for her own introduction and well... Lightly, she says, "Typical." and forges ahead with her own introduction.

"A pleasure to meet you both. I am Sindr, Queen of Muspelheim; but we needn't stand on formalities. Sindr is fine." She directs to Kinsey, "If you're familiar with the term, then I suspect you're referring to the Asgardians. I'm afraid we Muspels don't get along too well with them, but that's mostly Odin and my father's war. We'll have to see how things go from here."

Ace's commentary has her smile fading into a mix of concern and disdain. "I admit I don't understand everything you just said, but the way you said it makes it sound fairly horrid. I hope your lot has improved since leaving?"
Tyran'tar     Tyran'tar comes back and sighs. "That was my planet's high queen. I am afraid I do not tell her of my lantern status...she gained her place of power by betraying her homeworld and letting it become invaded in return for being placed as her planet's ruler. She is why Tamaran is a smoking crater. It is easy to keep her out of the loop." He says softly as he looks to the others.
Kinsey MacKenna "The Projects here. Not in Arizona," she clarifies with a smirk for Ace. "I'm curious how you managed to get here. And I wouldn't knock piss-ant little towns. I'm sure it had something goign for it that made it special. Most places do."

Tyran'tar's abrupt sort of declaration of who and what she was draws a laugh from the woman's lips. "Guilty as charged? Though I'm still new at this Lantern business. Maybe Lantern-adjacent?" Amused, even with Kibou's protests: "I assume you Sister Kinsey, you are indeed a Lantern, to the Blue Lantern Core. I myself have chosen you, and you were found worthy on Odym not.."

Kinsey shushes her ring with a soft, but fond, "Kibou, we must talk about humour some day. It was a joke."

Looking apologetically at the others. "He's a young ring."

Turning, lastly, to Sindr. "Ah. And yes, I would be referring to the Asgardians. You'll forgive me, without my microscope, some of the finer details get past me." Explaining, "My specialty in genetic engineering is xenobiology."

Kibou speaking up, quickly telling his weilder, "Brother Saint Walker has arrived." To the non-surprise of Kinsey.
Mon-El     Right then, it seems the self-proclaimed genius girl doesn't want anyone know to who she is. Lar just gives up on the idea of trying to get her to introduce herself. He chuckles. "Don't worry, I think I get that. I might be able to help you figure it out sometime, if you want." He...doesn't really say anything about her description of where she's from, instead just sort of raising a curious eyebrow to show that he didn't fully understand what she meant.

Then Sindr fully introduces herself. "Sindr, huh? Well--Ember, Sindr, same difference I guess. No idea you were a queen though. I hope you are able to establish friendly relations with Asgard. Although, royalty to royalty here...I know that can be hard after years of uh, unfriendly relations."

He chuckles a bit at the banter between Kinsey and her ring. "Young, huh? So how do you guys make those?" Speaking of Lanterns, he notices Saint Walker approaching. "Oh hey, it's another one. Looks like a Blue. He look familiar?" he asks Kinsey.
Saint Walker Munching on some sort of melon, Walker joins Kinsey and the group gathered around her.

He inclines his head, "Greetings brothers and sisters, I am Saint Walker, and you are correct," a nod is given to Lar. "I am a Blue Lantern. I hope no one minds that I have helped myself to some refreshment?" he says somewhat abashed. There is a glint in his eye that suggests he knows more than he's letting on.

Then with a nod he greets his sister Lantern, "Sister Kinsey, I hope you don't mind my catching up."
Ace Ace kind of squints at Lars' seeming frustration with her. "What? Huh? Oh! Right!" She smacks a fist into her upturned hand. "Yeah, introductions. I'm supposed to do that with people. I'm Ace. Well, my name is actually Aslin. But the only people who have called me that are assholes. So, you know, don't."

"Well the best place in town was my grandpa's arcade that he ran in his junkyard. But then he died. Crime went up because the kids there lost the coolest place to hang out. It kinda sucked."

Finally she looks to Sindr and says, "Eh. As fine as one can be flying a junkship through the mostly endless void of space."
Sindr "Oh, I doubt it will be an easy road toward peace, if it's at all possible. The bulk of my people still have no love for Asgard, and even after Ragnarok I'm willing to bet it's more smug hostility for those left." Sindr replies to Lar. "For now, I'm leaving them be and letting them figure out their next move before I make any overtures toward them. Meanwhile, I'll happily take advantage of their current state to advance my own people - hopefully without their inteference."

Toward Kinsey, she says, "My father was Surtr, the first of the Fire Giants, and as old as creation itself. Destined to destroy Asgard and all..." her tone is fairly dry here, "...and about all he wanted to talk about. There are a lot fewer of us around now, and the bulk of my subjects are the goblins. I am, however, seeking talented individuals; the dispossessed, the homeless, those looking for a place in the cosmos."

She looks at Ace right on the heels of that remark. "Do let me know if you're interested." And then at Tyran'tar, "And you and I should talk sometime about your homeland. Perhaps we can look to do something about that, hm?"
Kinsey MacKenna "No, you're about right on time, Brother Walker," Kinsey informs, amused. Telling Lar, "I am familiar. He would be my mentor, and who sent me on something of a training mission, which is how I ended up at your party. Well, our Brother Green over there is more rightly how I ended up here."

Her smile returns to Sindr. "I try very hard not to form my opinions of others based on such silly things as race or home planet. I much prefer to meet a person and make my own judgements." The bit about fire giants explaining a lot. "It's a lovely dress."

It was, as far as such things went. More interesting in its composition of fire.

Ace getting a pleased look. "See? I told you. There's always something. For me, there was a little pizza shop around the corner. AFter school, you could buy a half-price slice and do your homework. It kept a lot of my friends off of the streets."
Tyran'tar     "Despite my own feelings for my queen, I am afraid I am duty bound to serve and protect her. I take that duty seriously, even though I would love to be careless in it." Tyran'tar says calmly before looking to Sindr. "As tempting as it would be to serve one such as you, Queen Sindr, I am afraid betraying my queen for you will merely diminish my own worth in your eyes. It will certainly do if it were reverse." He says calmly as he looks to Saint Walker and nods. "The famed Saint Walker himself. Word of your exploits has reached us on Oa." He says calmly to the man.
Mon-El     "Lar Gand," Lar reciprocates the introduction to the newcomer, offering a handshake. "Nice to meet you, Saint Walker." he chuckles at the question. "It's a party, I think eating is kind of part of the point? Well, maybe they do things differently on your planet."

"Ace, good to meet you." he laughs when the girl finally realizes she forgot to introduce herself. He looks a little concerned at her mention of a junkship. "Well, my offer to help you with your ship still stands, if you are interested. I'm pretty sure Brainiac could figure out whatever I can't." he says with a grin.

He nods gravely at the state of relations between Asgard and Muspelheim. "Well, maybe if you offered to help them resettle or get back on their feet somehow, that would help you foster good relations with them? Show them that you don't have your father's hostile attitude toward them. I think it would benefit you both, since it sounds like you're both struggling somewhat, and in need of allies."

"That's a good way to live." he remarks about Kinsey's comment. "I just wish more people would adopt that philosophy..." Yeah, like his own family and most of his people. "I'm one of the few of my own kind right now who would actually treat someone of a different species with respect. I get a lot of flak for it, too. Fortunately, things will get better....eventually."

Lar sighs at Tyran'tar. Heh...he knows something about -that-. That being not really agreeing with leadership but not really doing anything about it or running away. Still, that life sucks. "Well I hope you manage to get away from it eventually. Somehow...." he mutters.
Ace Ace nods to Lars and says, "Well, sure. Yeah I guess I wouldn't say no to help." What she fails to mention, or doesn't know to mention is that due to her less than standard engineering design principles, her craft is a confusing mishmash of parts that many would fail to understand how any of it works, as by all rights it shouldn't work. But that's Braniac's problem apparently.

Before she can continue the conversation the Power Glove on her arm starts chirping. She taps a button it and says, "What is it Max. I'm mingling."

An almost manically cheerful voice says, "Sorry to buh-buh-bother you chief. But the reactor is o-o-o-ut of alignment again. I'll h-h-h-have to initiate a sh-sh-shut down in five minutes."

Angrily she smacks off the communicator and looks up to Lars and everyone else. "Sorry I have to take care of this. If my reactor shuts down I'll be stuck here for three days until the crystals can regenerate."
Ace Ace waves over her shoulder as she runs off towards the garage, "Later."
Sindr "We... shall see. It would not be a popular step." Sindr says to Lar, "I believe they're stuck on Midgard or something, but I haven't heard much beyond that... yet." And of course, she looks at Kinsey, curious if she might know something about that situation.

She considers Tyran'tar for a moment or three; a woman who has opinions of the sort that shouldn't be blurted in mixed company. Finally, she settles on, "Will you at least talk with me later? If we disagree after, I'll leave it rest."

She waves lightly to Ace as that woman runs off to deal with ship emergencies. Then, inclining her head to Saint Walker, says, "A pleasure; I'm Sindr."
Kinsey MacKenna Kinsey nods goodbyes to Ace, waiting till the woman has left the group before answering Sindr, "Oh, well. I'm sure it wouldn't be politic of me to speak to what is or isn't happening with the Asgardians. We are familiar with them, though I haven't met any myself. I truly would hate to say the wrong thing here, or have my misinformation lead you to the wrong conclusions.

Translation: Until she knows better the exact situation here, or what is or isn't more globally known about the current situation of the Asgards on earth, she's more comfortable letting Saint Walker field this one.

It wouldn't do to start your career as as Blue Lantern by causing an interstellar incident between two rival races.
Tyran'tar     "I will listen." Tyran'tar says as he watches Sindr. "I will atleast give you my ear for the evening. Pick a time and place." He says softly to the woman. "In the mean time do enjoy yourself." He says with a smile. He looks to Lar and his ring glows. "If you will excuse me again." He says as he begins to head off again.
Mon-El     "Well, just let me know." Lar says as Ace takes off. "It was nice meeting you, Ace."

"True as that may be, don't lose hope." he says to Sindr. "I...have to admit, I used to be pretty xenophobic like the rest of my family, too. And even after I got over that, I still had a grudge against Kryptonians. But that changed after I um...actually got to know one." That being Kara. Maybe what they need is a chance for some meaningful dialogue that doesn't come to blows."

He waves to Tyran'tar as the green lantern takes his leave. "Enjoy the rest of the party."
Sindr Sindr inclines her head to Tyran, as he too leaves, and then returns her attention to the others still present. "Oh, let's not discuss that stuffy old subject any more. It's hardly the occassion to pore over old histories and rivalries, right?" she says, hopefully closing off the matter as a concern for the rest of the conversation.

"Though admittedly, the mention of your family does have me curious about your homeland." Sindr says to Lars, and then to Kinsey, "Likewise, I'm very interested to know about the... Blue Lanterns? Obviously I've heard a little bit about the Green Lanterns from Tyran'tar, but now there are blue as well? Are there other... factions? I understand they're some sort of military force or something?"
Kinsey MacKenna There's a soft laugh and a grin from Kinsey for Lar's little quip about hope. "Hey! That's my line. Please don't be putting me out of a job when I've just gotten my ring."

Of course that's not how it works, and secretly she's utterly pleased. Turning to Sindr, "He's right, you know. There's always hope. I find things may not turn out exactly as we envisioned them, but there are few outcomes that can't be changed for the better or something made of them. We really just have to look for what is being offered to us."

An inclination for the Queen of Muspelheim, glad that the topic of what the Asgardians may or may not be doing on earth has been left for now.

"So many questions. To begin with I think we're less a military force than a protective force." Which might be splitting hairs. Certainly some of the Lantern colours are a lot less concerned with peaceful means than others. "But the Blues especially are charged to bear the light of Hope within their hearts and carry it to all who may need it.. oh my.. wow, when you say it, it sounds just as annoying as Brother Razer claims it is."

Kinsey laughing outright, because even knowing that, she'll do it again. She just can't help herself.
Mon-El     Lar chuckles good-naturedly at Kinsey's tease. "Sorry about that, I'll try to word it differently next time." When she talks about what the Blue Lanters do, he laughs along with her. "That doesn't sound...annoying. Maybe a little bit cheesy, but..."

He doesn't press the topic of Asgard then, since Sindr doesn't seem to want to discuss it any more. Lar shrugs when she asks about his homeworld. "What do you want to know? I mean, it's not exactly the most liveable place at the moment." he says with a sigh. "Part of the reason for that whole grudge against Kryptonians thing."
Sindr "Well, that's not a bad start - although I realize it's probably not a good subject for the occasion. There's a lot I don't know about space-faring peoples, so I'm playing catch up on a lot of it." Sindr replies to Lar.

She smiles a bit at Kinsey, saying, "It admittedly sounds fairly naive, but I can hardly discount it when there's a space-faring .. protection force dedicated to the ideal, especially knowing nothing of the Lanterns in general, let alone the individual groups."
Kinsey MacKenna Kinsey is still laughing when Lars says it might nto be annoying, but is certainly cheesy, trying not to look to see where Brother Walker has removed himself to. "Oh, we are nothing if not fromage," she can admit. "But it's true, you know, the business about hope. Did you know that Brother Walker sucessfully and nearly single handedly saved his people by the force of his faith alone?"

She shakes her head. "Incredible, really. I find myself feeling quite awed and humbled to be counted in that company."

There's a slight shrug for Sindr. "Naive? Perhaps. But I find it better than the bitterness that grows in the dark places where fear lives. Growing up I saw what that did to people. People who had no faith in a future. Who believed that their lives were one small corridor of a city bent on keeping them downtrodden. It devasted them. I wanted more than that."

"Hope isn't naive as much as.." She looks thoughtful. "It's about believing that even if you can't win that there is always a difference that can be made and choosing to be that instead of merely accepting what is set before you as all there is. It's really why I went into Xenobiology."
Mon-El     "I guess it's better than being completely in pieces, like Krypton." Lar shrugs with a sigh. "Not that I was particularly fond of my life back home..." he admits.

He shakes his head at Kinsey's question. "No, I didn't, but I certainly believe it. Lanterns have a reptuation in the galaxy, that's for sure." He raises a brow at her last comment though. "Oh? What's the connection there, exactly?"
Sindr Sindr reaches out to put a hand on Lar's shoulder; it's a brief gesture and seems a little... uncertain on her part, like it's not something she does often. At all. Then she agrees with the man as he responds to Kinsey, "I'd like to know as well."
Kinsey MacKenna Kinsey has to stop a moment to consider her answer, or, more rightly, how best to explain it.

"In the Projects, there was so much that we didn't have. Infighting and gang wars were really a reality. I was lucky. I was smart, and I had a mother who supported me, and made me believe that I could do or be anything I wished."

Her features fall into a gentleness as she remembers.

"It was sometimes along my studies when a lot of the unrest with mutants, and later with the aliens who we encountered, became such a dividing force on my home planet. I.. I was a geneticist, studying genetic engineering. I had a lot interest in disease, really. Looking for ways that we could conquer some of the things that continue to elude us.. and I thought what is it that makes them so different than us? How could they be so very different? Or," she shrugs, "More importantly, how were were nothing but so simply the same."

"I believed if I could answer that, I could help. And that led to an interest in alien biology. It added a bit to my studies, but not to much it wasn't worth my effort. I like to believe it's made me understand myself more, not just those who come from outside our solar system."

Another of those soft laughs. "I know. Cheesy."
Mon-El     Lar looks a little bit surprised at the hand on his shoulder, but seems to accept it. "Thanks," he says to Sindr, appreciating the sympathetic gesture.

He listens to Kinsey's story with interest, nodding when she's finished. "Now, -that- isn't cheesy." he remarks good-naturedly. "Yeah, sometimes I do wonder how it is that we could've come from lightyears away from each other but still have so much common." he shakes his head. "Kind of incredible, isn't it?"

He starts to step away. "Well, I'd best see if I can get an audience with the hosts for a bit. It was good seeing you again, Sindr. And great meeting the rest of you. I hope we get to cross paths again sometime in the near future."
Sindr "It... does not match my own upbringing or philosophy, but neither is it something I'd scoff at." Sindr says to Kinsey. "However, knowing what I know of the forces in the cosmos that do not respect Hope and kindness, I am certain your beliefs will be challenged many times over. Enough that you may come to question them."

She likewise steps back, signaling that she's about to part company. "I will be watching you, Kinsey MacKenna. I will be most interested to see how sturdy your convictions show you to be. Do pardon me, as I must find the servants I brought with me, and make sure they're alright."
