Description
Description:
They usually are dressed in something that is comfortable. This can be their circus costumes, which double as their costumes for being thieves. Or it can be a pair of a jeans with a cropped t-shirt to show off six-pack abs. They are not usually ones to dress up fancy but can if necessary, for the right occasion.
History
History:
They were home schooled since they travelled constantly. They also learned a myriad of skills while working with the other performers. Yet, it was the aerialists that drew in both sisters. The wanted to fly. This was as close as they would ever be able to, outside skydiving. Thus, they chose their path while they were both in single digits.
Having a life of concentrated training, they would perform with the other aerialists even as they were growing up. In time, they surpassed their skills and by the time Margot was 16 and Aliki 12, they were headlining as aerialists. Only by this time, the high-flying stunts were not as satisfying for their thrill seeking. They had stolen items here and there, not really thinking ill of it. They decided to try something more challenging: burglary.
Their first outing did not go well and it was pure luck they were not caught. From there, they started dedicating the same level they used for performances to their thefts and in time, they got better. Little by little. Until they became quite accomplished at it. What they stole they did not always need and they found places to fence the items. Other times, the would use their skills to help out charities. They liken themselves to Robin Hood by doing that bit of charity.
Now, the troupe they are with has settled in New York City, having set up a permanent home for the time being. The girls purchased a gym with their savings, which they use as a training facility and home. It is time for them to see what they can get into in the Tri-State Area!
Personality
Personality:
Margot is the more responsible of the two. Perhaps it is because she is older and a bit more mature. She is the one to think things through a bit more, the planner. The one who will look at the big picture and that helps counterbalance Aliki. She would help take care of her sister so has more responsibilities on her shoulders. This doesn't meant she won't be out there stealing if she wants to and she has just as much fun doing it, she just has a different mind-set in some ways.
Aliki is more wild, less prone to taking the time to plan and figure things out and more likely to just go for it. She is less grounded, perhaps because she had less responsibilities than her big sister. She will act first, think later. Which is why Margot being there to guide her along is a good thing.
Yet the pair feed off each other in a symbiotic way. Each needs the other and they are practically inseparable for more than a few hours. When one is excited, they can bring the other up with them. When one is down, they both might feel that way unless the other can bring them back up.
Abilities
Skills
Acrobatics:
The duo learned gymnastics from the moment they could walk, practically. Being raised in the circus by their parents, they had many strong performers to learn from. Their skill and speed allow them to do extreme acrobatics that seem almost impossible for a human being. Olympic gymnasts would be hard put to keep up with them.
Aerialists:
Double Dare perform as aerialists. Everything from trapeze, to silks, to the high wire. Being high up in the air is where they shine. They are some of the best in the business, headliners with their circus. They will not be rattled by heights nor will they panic when put in a dangerous situation.
Linguistics:
The sisters are French and that is their native language. In their time at the circus, they have been exposed to many languages and learned quite a few. These include English, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.
Martial Arts:
Quite a few of the performers they knew during their time at the circus were acrobats and martial artists. While they would not be classified as a specific type of martial arts, they are skilled in multiple types and versions. Then tend to prefer grappling, working as a team against an opponent, which is not something most fighters have experienced. It helps utilize their strength and agility as well as teamwork in a very specific way. They can fight unarmed or with weapons, or improvise weapons if needed. They prefer to fight bare handed. They can deal with multiple opponents of moderate to low skill at the same time and one highly skilled single. In the comics they managed to hold their own against Nightwing.
Performance:
Timing is everything. That is the essence of performance. They can play for a crowd, for the emotional responses they want. They can play a role, they can act, they can lie with a straight face. It can be applied in many aspects of their lives.
Personal Training:
The sisters are athletes, first and foremost. They could not be aerialists or acrobats without having their bodies in shape. This includes strength training (Margot tends to focus on it more heavily) and flexibility (which Aliki is stronger at). They are both phenomenal in both aspects, just each has their own area they are slightly more skilled than the other. They know how to use equipment to improve their physical health.
Teamwork:
In this area, the sisters excel. They have worked as partners for years. They literally hold each other's lives in their hands. They have worked together for so many hours both for performance and practicing their martial arts skill, they are completely in synch. It is like dealing with one mind that is in two bodies, they know each other so well and can improvise on the fly yet still seem to know what the other is going to do. Some might suspect they were telepathic, but they are not. It just comes from thousands of hours spent together training.
Theft:
Resources
Charity Organizations:
There are a few charity groups who see Double Dare as modern Robin Hood figures, as the sisters will sometimes provide them with the money or items that they might need to support their non-profit organizations. These groups might help them in minor ways from time to time as a thank-you, but nothing to an extreme that they might lose their own status.
Circus:
The sisters are known as Double Dare, their stage name when they perform. They have been a part of circus circles and entertainment their entire lives, having many contacts in the business. They are currently with the Cirque Sensationnel. They earn good money meaning, more than enough to pay for their needs. Most of those are provided by their employment anyway since many of the performers live and eat on their own grounds. They have access to their co-workers and equipment.
Criminal Connections:
In order to be a thief, one sometimes needs to have contacts in the criminal world. They know a few people who might provide them information on items they might want to steal, security details (if they can be obtained) and provide a place to fence stolen goods. They also have their own bits of equipment to help bypass security systems (low to mid-level) which has been obtained through these sources.
Gymnasium:
Weaknesses
Criminals:
The sisters are thieves. While they often steal then donate what they steal to charity, seeing themselves as modern day Robin Hood types, the truth is they are still criminals. They have a record but they also have not been linked to a lot of crimes they have actually committed, something that can come back to haunt them perhaps in the future. And to be honest, they don't give everything to charity!
Duo:
The sisters are extremely close, to the point of being practically inseparable. It is a rare thing for one to ever be without the other. Certainly, one can go on a date or to the store. Short periods of time are not an issue. However, if they were parted for any long period of time, both would likely have problems with separation anxiety as they have always been a duo.
Hedonistic:
One aspect of the sisters is that they want to experience life. All of it and every aspect. They enjoy having fun. They enjoy good food, good company, doing new things. Yet this can go to the extreme, in that they feel it is okay to cross lines such as theft. After all, they want the thing more so they should have it. They deserve it! Just because they cannot afford to buy it shouldn't hinder them.
Sibling Rivalry:
Being sisters is hard enough. Being sisters with competitive spirits makes it worse. The pair often compete, trying to out do one another. If things are not going their way, it can lead to one sister attacking the other sister and a catfight ensuing. Yet at the same time, no one better mess with their sibling or they will be facing the anger of both the gals.
Tempers:
It may be a stereotype about redheads but in this case, it is fitting. The sisters have tempers. This can be triggered by the smallest thing. They can have tantrums, although Aliki is worse for it than Margot in that aspect. For all their fun loving, this is the other side of that coin which is not as pleasant to experience since it can be expressed physically instead of just a few angry words.
