The sky above is clear, and the sun is just starting to climb the sky. It is relatively cool as of yet, and there is a hint of dampness within the air from a sprinkle of rain that happened overnight. <br><br>Ororo has been awake for a little while. Her white hair is damp from a shower that she took after a morning workout. It's been combed, but there's naught else that she's done with the lengths of it as of yet. She wears a pair of cut-off blue jean shorts and a light grey t-shirt that's a size too big. She's bare footed, and she takes a moment to look up to the sky to get a measure of the weather. A smile touches at the corners of her lips, and then she steps out further to the rooftop in order to start her daily routine of checking on the various and assorted plants that live up here. She checks each and every one of them, plucking away the dead leaves and making sure that each of them has enough water.<br> <br>

Pretty close as far from the entrance as she can get, and remain out of sight. The plants help this endeavor of remaining hidden, which is as she wants it. She sits on the floor, her legs crossed in front of her. Her back is against the outer wall of the tower, and open upon her lap is a set of papers she's apparently going over. Sometimes, she comes up here to grade papers. Sometimes for simple privacy. Sometimes to get away from the general press of people.<br><br>Most people don't know she does this, so it makes her harder to be found when she wants a moment of privacy. In this case, she's looking over student files for the coming school year. She pauses as she feels Ororo approaching, long before the weather witch ever gets to the door leading up here. Her lips curl up ever so slightly. And she waits, perhaps a bit of mischief to her features. Until Ororo is in juuuust the... riiiight... spot... "Hello, Ro," she says, quite out of nowhere.<br> <br>

It makes it a very good time of day for Ororo to check the plants. So what people end up seeing is that the plants look lovely and well tended and lush and green. She pauses near to one of the plants, deftly slipping a dead leaf from it before she leans forward to breathe in the scent of the flower that opened on it between yesterday and today. <br><br>Ororo has no means of knowing that anyone is there at all, let alone that Jean is there, laying in wait. The greeting from out of nowhere causes her to startle, a quick breath being taken in, her left hand opening and dropping the collection of dead leaves and flower stems that she had plucked from the plants along the way. She at least didn't reach for the weather, though a cloud did skitter closer as though drawn on some sort of tether. "Jeanie!" she exclaims, part relieved and surprised and amused and ever so mildly admonishing. "You sneak," she adds, quirking a smile. She crouches, gathering up the dead plant bits from where they had fallen. Only once she's picked up the bits does she start to head for where Jean is sitting.<br> <br>

More often, when she wants to get away she goes somewhere that's more.. inaccessible to most of the student body and other teachers, with a few exceptions. That cloud that had skittered closer is quite ignored, that wicked little amused smile remains on Jean's face. She trusts her friend implicitly not to fry her unless such is very much needed. Which it isn't, in this moment.<br><br>Jean's smile widens at Ororo's words. "Not really much of a sneak, when I was already up here," she points out. "You just failed to see me." She sounds as amused as she looks. "The plants look as beautiful as ever, Ro. How are you? I haven't seen much of you since the fourth."<br> <br>

The detritus from the plants is deposited into a bin for such things, and she lightly brushes her hands off. She steps around the plants and over to her best friend before settling next to her there on the floor, drawing her legs up in cross-legged fashion. <br><br>"I can give you that one, I suppose," Ororo says, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "The plants did a very good job of keeping you from my sight," she comments, sounding a touch amused. "Thank you, Jeanie. They quite enjoy it up here, I think. I just try to make sure that they have everything they need to grow," she says. "I am doing well. I have had a small spell of keeping to myself, recently. How have you been doing?" she asks.<br> <br>

"They did," she agrees, about the plants doing a good job of keeping her nicely hidden. She glances around at the plants and then back to her friend. "I couldn't actually tell you about the plants. They don't have thoughts like people and animals do. Or, if they do, they're not something I can hear."<br><br>The papers in her lap are gathered and set aside on the rooftop's floor, to the side opposite Ororo. Not to hide them, but to get them out of the way. Jean stretches her legs out at this point and leans back against the wall. She lifts her arms above her head and stretches her back and stomach as well. Once she's settled again, her attention returns to Ororo. "I'm doing alright. Just starting to get ready for the next school term."<br> <br>
