Firstly, Mac had been blown away by the trust the UN had put in Alpha Flight, second, by how quickly SHIELD and the Fantastic Four had jumped on board. Truthfully, he expected help from Reed. However the third thing, it had nothing to do with business, it had been Franklin and Valeria, the Richards' children. It was uncanny, and even before she'd lured him in and made him hers, he'd always loved that about her.
