| | |Profile=Jubilee is what is widely referred to as an ABC, American-born Chinese, a term that is used regardless whether one was born in America, Australia, Britain, South Africa, or in her case, Canada. Jubilee was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lee, two prosperous Chinese Canadians who had emigrated before she was born. She grew up in Angel Grove, the southwest tip of Starling, British Columbia, and lived a charmed life. A terrific gymnast, she was thought to have Olympic potential. However, as fate would have it, in one weekend, her parents lost everything when a particularly risky investment turned sour, and then were murdered, as the assassins mixed up her home with that of her neighbours, who were also called the Lees. It's British Columbia, there's a sizeable Chinese Canadian community. Orphaned and alone, she managed to evade the system, living off her wits, until her mutant powers manifested at puberty. Eventually, she was found, placed into a nice foster home, and given training by Alpha Flight. |

As she put up her hands in defense, a cascading shower of pyrotechnic light appeared between her and the two guards, who became blinded and bewildered by the display. Likely as stunned as they, Jubilation had just enough presence of mind to flee.

| In the coming days and weeks, Jubilation hid herself away and tested her newfound skills, watching with wonder each flash of colourful light as it exploded with a sound that she called "paf." Gradually, the homeless orphan found acceptance and even admiration in the throngs who frequent the mall by exhibiting her talents in small, staged spectacles of light and colour. Acceptance, admiration, and occasionally, a handful of coins.

In the coming years, Jubilation was subject to a great deal of scrutiny, in brushes with law enforcement who wanted to see her tested and identified, and if applicable, registered as a mutant. She narrowly managed to avoid capture at every turn, but found herself living on the street, and having to be far more careful about her only means of making money. It was at this time that a man saw a street performance held by the girl, and he snagged her the moment one of her fireworks took the form of a Chinese dragon and took flight. With a no-nonsense attitude, and the reflexes to catch her by the arm before she could flee, he identified himself as "like her," and pulled her off the street and onto the road with him. It was some years later that he brought her to a group of like-minded people he counted as friends, and fellow mutants. Here, she got her degree, and now teaches mutants like herself, finding her own little niche in a group known as the X-Men.

Her hair is long, sleek, and onyx black, and her eyes range from their usual stormy grey to glowing blue, depending upon circumstances. Nestled atop her head, most often, is a pair of turn-of-the-century brass goggles fitted with welding glass, which shields her eyes when things get intense. Because intense means bright. Really bright. She's fond of corsets and pinup styles of dress, tanktops and cutoff denim shorts, and bikinis. Often, in true steampunk fashion, she often wears a yellow peacoat with gears and toggles. And more often than any of the rest, her signature pair of pink Converse sneakers.
