General

Feature Characters
You can get lists of fictional characters originally appearing in animation, books, comics, films, television, and video games published by Dark Horse Comics, DC Entertainment, IDW Publishing, Image Comics, Marvel Entertainment, and Other sources. They are by no means exhaustive lists, but they give an indication of playable characters. Each one will have a status of Open, Claimed, Approved, Deceased, or Tiny-Plot. You can get these lists from anywhere on the game by typing +fclist . You can also look on the Character Listing page.

 • You can request Open characters by contacting an on-duty member of staff (see +staff in-game).
 • If no staff members are available, create a temporary character at the login screen, and then send a request (see +help +request in-game).
 • If the character is not on +fclist, then create it at the login screen.
 • However, it is still a good idea to consult with staff before getting too involved in your application.
 • We reserve the right to reject concepts that are not be in the best interests of the game.

Previous Played Characters
We think of new players taking over previously played characters as akin to a new writer taking over an existing comic book. Just as a new writer may have a few dangling plot threads to resolve, so might you. But after that, you can quietly go in a completely different direction. That's the bad news, but the good news is that you don't have to write a new sheet, which cuts down on the time separating you from role-play considerably. New players are not beholden to previously approved applications or role-play. If a new player has objections, we're more than willing to entertain a brand new vision for the character.

Biographical Data

 • Real Name: Your character's full legal name can be set with +finger/set realname=
. This is separate from the name that you can use for commands, which is set with @name me=
.
 • Alias: If your character has a dual identity, you can set it with +finger/set superalias=
. If your character does not have a dual identity, please set it as None. This is separate from the alias that you can use for commands, which is set with @alias me=
.
 • Identity: The status of your dual identity can be set with +finger/set identity=
. Please choose from the following options: Public, No dual identity, or Secret.
 • Occupation: The occupation of your character can be set with +finger/set occupation=
.
 • Citizenship: The citizenship of your character can be set with +finger/set citizenship=
. Most characters will set theirs as 'United States of America', so this entry is to call attention to those whose origins lie elsewhere.
 • Date of Birth: The date of birth of your character can be set with +finger/set dateofbirth=
. This is set with 'Day Month Year', and will automatically calculate your character's current age. For example, you might set it as +finger/set dateofbirth=3 February 1997. Remember that our game is set eight years in the future when choosing your Date of Birth.
 • Place of Residence: The residence of your character can be set with +finger/set residence=
. This can be as precise as you can manage, from Building, Neighbourhood, Borough, and City, to simply just the city. Characters are free to explore other areas of the game, but it's nice to know where you hang your hat.
 • Education: You can set the highest level of education that your character has attained with +finger/set education=
. Examples include Privately Tutored, Sunny Hill High School, and Empire State University.

 • Time Zone: Each player only has to set their time zone once, as it is managed by your account. You can set it with +config system/timezone=
. While there are other options available, most people will set it as America/Los_Angeles, America/Phoenix, America/Chicago, or America/New_York. For a full list, see help timezones2 through help timezones13 in-game.
 • Wiki: If your character has an alias, like Daredevil, you would use that for the title of your Wiki entry. If your character does not, like Foggy Nelson, you would use their short form first name, followed by an underscore, and then their surname for their wiki entry. You can set it with +finger/set wiki=http://unitedheroesmush.com/
.

Questions

When applying for a character that has been previously played, players have the choice of answering the questions listed below, and keeping the previous application as written, or writing a brand new application of their own, using their own thoughts and ideas. When choosing the second option, or being the first person to play a character, you do not need to answer these questions. However, we're more than willing to read them if you do so. Sometimes it can help to acquaint one's self with the character.

Does this character meet the multiple character limit policy? If you are going beyond the usual five (5) "character points", please talk about that here and tell us why we should let you! You can set it with +que 1=
.

Give at least three fairly unique adjectives to describe this character, and discuss why and how the character came to possess these traits. This is the most important question. We're looking for a well-developed, full paragraph for each adjective. Things that are not unique include loyal, smart, and strong. You can set it with +que 2=
.

What are this character's moral and ethical beliefs? We are looking for a general discussion here, but feel free to use obvious questions like "would this character kill another living being?" as a starting point. You can set it with +que 3=
.

Your character enters a room with other characters present, but nothing seems to be going on. Use a sample pose to demonstrate how you would initiate role-play in this situation. Be creative with the environment and specific characters present, but do not pose for anyone else. We're looking for how you would role-play this character. You can set it with +que 4=
.

Is there some question we haven't asked that you're just dying to answer? Consider this question to be the "if you need more space, use the back of the page" question of the application! You can set it with +que 5=
.
