Return to News Files

We operate under a first-come, first-served character policy at United Heroes. Once a Feature Character is claimed, that player has the exclusive right to apply for, and if approved, play as that character. As long as they meet their activity requirements, they can continue indefinitely.

However, all good things must come to an end. Characters open up all the time. It's usually a voluntary decision, but sometimes it's not. Nevertheless, when a character does become open, the staff will consult the reservation list. If someone has a standing reservation for that character, we will reach out them first. When two or more players have standing reservations, we will give preference to those who have met their activity requirements. After that, we will consult in order of when the reservation was placed.

Players are under no obligation to claim open characters that they have previously reserved. Circumstances change, and by the time the character becomes open, the player may not have enough points. They may no longer wish to play that character. It's best to think of it as a Right of First Refusal.

  • Each player is entitled to reserve only one Feature Character at a time.
  • Reservations may be cancelled at any time.
  • Once cancelled, players are free to make a new reservation.
  • Reservations can be made through a request (see +help +job in-game).

Role-Play Auditions

Essential Feature Characters tend to be more powerful than the norm, hold great influence, or both. They're the movers and shakers of the game. When they become open, and there are no standing reservations, there will be a 48 hour grace period where we accept applicants. If multiple people want to apply for the same recently opened EFC, we may conduct role-play auditions. The morale of the story is that if you want an EFC, reserve them before they become open.
