A spark is the life force of a Cybertronian. The spark is a physical entity, which is safeguarded inside a Cybertronian's structure. If something harms the spark beyond repair, it is "extinguished" and the Cybertronian is considered dead. A Cybertronian is able to survive an enormous amount of physical damage. As long as the spark is somehow intact, it is possible to repair or rebuild the structure and restore the spark to it.
