Hot Times in Brazil
Date of Scene: 20 November 2019
Location: Brazil, Rio
Synopsis: Roberto and Lorna make plans for the weekend.
Cast of Characters: Polaris, Sunspot

Polaris has posed:
Lorna sat on the edge of the bed, staring down at her backpack in a muted, exhausted way. She wore the bikini that had been brought over along with the rest of the clothes Roberto had had ordered for her, all of which sat resting on a clothes rack that had been wheeled in some time ago. The suite was untouched besides a few more empty glasses, and a diminished drinks supply, and a few rumbled sheets to prove that Lorna had at least made the attempt to sleep at some point.

The green haired Princess looked rather mournful, her eyes red rimmed and puffy around the corners, her mascara and makeup smeared over her knuckles and down her cheeks.

If Roberto had reports, or cameras or anything, he would've been informed that Magneto had paid a visit none too long ago, before the Master of Magnetism had flown off and caused destruction, leaving his youngest daughter there on the roof-top suite alone once more.

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto has no cameras or anything in the hotel suite. That would be creepy to say the least. The fact there is no aerial security shows there is a difference between Rio and New York besides the good weather. They don't have many supervillains there, much less flying ones.

But Roberto does come flying, and he can see through the glass walls of the suite if Lorna left them unpolarized. So he sees the young woman in the black bikini, and the clothes he sent (mostly summer dresses good for Rio, a few high fashion club outfits, and also jeans + tops combos she seems to favor).

Yes, he knew her size. Don't ask.

Her continued presence is a good thing. The empty glasses are not so good. And that she looks mournful, once he is close enough to see it, definitely not good at all. So he heads to the bed quickly, once he lands. "Lorna?" He asks, frowning.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna didn't respond to Roberto's arrival as she might normally. She stared down at her backpack, sniffling once. "I'm sorry for whatever my father does. He doesn't like you, and that's my fault." She breathed and slumped forward, her eyes squeezed shut against the world at large.

She fell silent after that, her pulse thumping hard in her head as she reached up with a hand to sweep her hair back from her face. "He took issue with my agreeing to a date, it would seem."

Sunspot has posed:
"Ah, he didn't give you even twenty four hours," grumbles Roberto, sitting down in front of her. "Overbearing fathers, damn them all," he adds with a sad smile, reaching for Lorna's hand. "I can survive petty revenge. Silly of him to be jealous for my time with you. But in his defense, I think you are angry at him when he was in a position nothing he could do was the good or right."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna sniffled again, "He sensed when I moved through the magnetic fields and when he realized where I'd gone he wasn't happy. I can only assume it took him so long because he was picking out the right outfit or something." She muttered, wrapping an arm around her waist while Roberto captured the other hand. She grimaced, her hands cool to the touch despite the warmth of the air outside.

"He doesn't like you because I commented sometime ago about your rejection of working with Genosha openly and all that. He took it personally, and now well.." She shrugged and hung her head. "Like I said, it's my fault. I'm sorry." She bit back a sigh and she closed her eyes briefly. Even against the light of the aurora that bloomed into being as Roberto took her hand.

"I've had my life turned upside down multiple times in the past few years. First it was that my foster parents lied to me about being my parents. Then it was that my parents were dead. I was a mutant. I had powers. Then it was that Magneto was my father all along. That my mother had had an affair. And now it's that I killed her. Do you know what it's like to go through the world like that? To have to question everything and everyone around you because those you thought you could trust... they knew something so horrible about you.. and then lied to cover it up? Worse, he had his underling edit my mind and block my powers! Who would I have been if I remembered? If I had grown up with these powers instead of thinking I was some freak with green hair?"

Sunspot has posed:
"That is parents to you," points out Roberto, squeezing her hand. "They think they know better and then fail half the time. But how would have been your life if you always knew you had killed your mother? I don't know. I think it is a burden I would spare anyone I loved. Even if that meant they would be angry with me later."

He stands up, pulling Lorna up too, and into his arms. "For what is worth, I am sorry. I don't want to see you crying." He hugs her gently. And he is never cold.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna smiled weakly as Roberto spoke, her eyebrows furrowing faintly in consideration. "I'm not mad that he tried to protect me. I'm mad that he chose to have my memory manipulated when I was a child and never tried to speak with me about it. He let me question and ask about what happened to my mother.. and I had to go to extreme lengths to find out the truth. I wouldn't be a sobbing wreck with the images burned behind my eyelids if he had just spoken to me. How can I trust him when he's erased that part of my memory? What if he's done it before to me and I don't know it?" She whispered softly.

And then Roberto was standing up, tugging her to stand as well and pulling her into his arms. She sagged against him, closing her eyes as she seemed to find comfort in just being held. In having that physical connection to help fight back the exhaustion that had built up into her bones.

"He said he wasn't keeping anything else from me, but how can I trust him? He admitted to me that he's keeping things from Pietro, who does that kind of thing?"

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto nods. "Ah, he made a bad call. Surprising how a man that is so smart for most things constantly makes this kind of dumb mistakes." He sighs, "parents, we can choose our friends, but can't choose them."

He keeps Lorna in a hug for a few more heartbeats, and then adds. "He is a great warrior, and he is a great scientist, but I think your father does not have the patience and tolerance to be a good teacher, a good parent or a good ruler. Still, you are her daughter and... if no one else, I think you should give him a chance. Because I miss my father for all the good things, and I didn't have a chance to forgive him for all the wrongs he did, I think... maybe if I had, he would be alive and a better person now."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna grimaced briefly, seeming content to just lean against Roberto and close her eyes for a little while longer as he continued to hold her. Even if he was speaking rather well of her father in the end. Words she had a feeling that her father wouldn't be so kind to share regarding Roberto himself. She pulled back after a minute, reaching up with a hand to rake her green hair back from her face.

"I've already forgiven him, but it's ruined any trust I had in him. Beyond the fact that he keeps secrets and will do whatever he thinks is right.. damned the consequences or what others think of him." She shrugged, and bit her lower lip in thought.

"He wants me to go back to Genosha. I just ... I dunno if I want to do that just yet."

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto nods, remembering his own shock when he discovered the misdeed his own father had committed. It is a different, because he was far younger than Lorna and his father had never been accused of being a terrorist. But it is also the same: that crushing feeling of betrayal.

"Give it time," he suggests. "Ultimately Genosha is not Magneto. But give it a few days, or weeks. We should return to New York next week, though. Actually... since your father knows we are here I better let Sam and Kitty know, too." He reaches for his cell, and if Lorna allows, he will send them a brief text.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shrugged once and settled on the edge of the bed as Roberto turned to grab his cell phone and asked her if it was alright to text those back at the Mansion. "Might as well, though fair warning, once you do that I bet someone is going to show up here.. Or we'll get bombarded with texts asking why we went down here together. It'll start the gossip train for sure." She drawled, arching a brow and settling one of her feet on the edge of the bed. Her knee bent as she rested her chin a top it, watching Roberto with a green eyed gaze.

"What do you think the headlines are going to be once word gets out? 'Royal Romance: Playboy and the Princess' Or something like 'Princess Flies South for the Winter, snags Billionaire Bachelor'." She added, a faintly amused twitch of her lips following.

Sunspot has posed:
"Hah, but one can't keep secrets from that crowd," at least he has never managed. He is pretty good at ignoring messages, though. A skill he learned by being the CEO of DCI. He types and chuckles at Lorna's proposed 'newspapers headlines'.

"Whatever you want, princess," he replies. "If you want us to be discreet, we can do that. We keep to ourselves, wear disguises when we go out, maybe get a couple of those fancy image inducers from Stark. There are also neighbors in New York where green hair is more common than blonde."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna's lips pulled into more of a smile as she watched Roberto from her perch, she tilted her head. "I have no concerns about being seen in public with you. It's far better than PR than I could've gotten dating Alex or Bobby. I bet we could get something out of it. We might as well consider that, I know odd, but that's where my mind went." She added, at least seemingly pulled back from her sadness with the witty banter.

"Besides, I've never been good at being subtle. Doesn't lend well to my personality. We might as well make a scene and go with it." Her voice was thick with amusement at the thought, and perhaps it was another remind of just who's daughter she was. Magneto was anything but subtle, and dramatic was a polite way of describing the ruler's presence when he arrived anywhere.

Sunspot has posed:
"Yes, I have people on the payroll to make me look good no matter what idiot thing I do," admits Roberto, smirking a bit. "Not that I do that many idiotic things anymore. But I was... bad. Just ask the Terry about the Fallen Angels someday if you want a good laugh."

Jokes aside he will definitely check with his PR folks. DCI can't afford to become associated with Magneto right now. Tomorrow.

"You still look tired," he observes, giving her a once over. "Did you manage to get some sleep?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna arched a brow upward, "I just get everything watched no matter what I do when I'm in Genosha, it's not such a big deal.. anywhere else and it's typically taken as if I kicked a puppy." She drawled, and rolled her eyes, shaking her head once as she eased back on the bed and shifted onto her side to keep her gaze on Roberto with a faint sigh on her lips.

"I think I got in about three hours? Maybe?" She murmured, "And then I got up, snacked a little, checked out the pool.. and my dad showed up. So yeah.. that kind of ended my attempts at relaxation.." Though as he had mentioned she looked tired still, she felt the urge to yawn tickle the edge of her jaw and she had to fight to stifle it.

"How are you holding up?"

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto grunts, glancing back to the empty glasses. Apparently there was also drinking involved, although she sounds sober enough. "Three hours is not enough. I will be fine until the sun sets. Then I am going to crash really bad," he grins. "So are you good for maybe four or five hours, hmm? Do you want some coffee and check the pool again? That bikini looks great on you."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shrugged once more, a small rise and fall of her shoulders as she watched him her position on her side. "I've run on worse night sleeps. Usually though I'm manic by that point and crash immediately after.." She pursed her lips together briefly and exhaled a soft sigh as she sat up again. The times she'd been manic she'd fixated so much she couldn't sleep. It hadn't ended with with anyone around her either.

"Do you want me to check out the pool again?" She offered, scooting to the edge of the bed and letting her legs dangle over the edge. "If so, yeah, I'm going to need some coffee."

Sunspot has posed:
"Unless you want to stay on bed, which would also be fine for me," teases Roberto. But he moves to the kitchen area to get fresh coffee going, and then to find a swimsuit for himself. He did bring a small bag with him when he arrived from the office.

Inside the penthouse the temperature is pleasantly warm, but outside it is hot and humid, as normal for Rio in Spring. It should rain later, but right now it is good weather for the pool.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna slipped off the bed frame with a faint dusting of pink coloring her usually pale cheeks as she stood and trailed along after Roberto toward the kitchen where he set the coffee up for her. She waited, exhaling a breath as she grabbed the mug of coffee. It was far, far too warm outside to drink it. So she went to the fridge snagging a few ice cubes from the dispenser and adding a little milk and sugar to the mix. A spoon floated up to her hand and she stirred it with a twirl of her finger.

"I'll see you outside." She drawled, and headed out through the double glass doors.

Her eyes slipped closed as she tilted her head back, a smile on her face as she welcomed the warmth and sunshine. It was a reminder of Genosha's tropical climate. One that didn't require her to bundle up in layers of cold weather gear as she had to do in New York this time of year.

Luckily, with her constant magnetic fields which repelled the sun's radiation.. she didn't have to worry about sunburn either. Or getting a tan. She remained consistently pale no matter how much time she spent in the sun. She made her way back to the pool side, sipping at her coffee and glancing out over the pool that ended with a massive view of the ocean below. It looked as if it simply dropped off the end of the building to continue into the blueness of the bay before them.

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto follows her out a minute later, wearing red swimming trunks and a mug of hot coffee in his hand. Heat or cold is more or less the same to him, but he thinks coffee tastes better hot. Sunlight, though, that is important. Rio's sun feels far better than New York's this time of the year.

"So staying a few days?" He asks, to know if the young woman has decides yet. "What would you like to do this weekend?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna glanced sidelong at Roberto, and if her gaze lingered momentarily, she was sure the man would forgive her. She shrugged, once moving to the edge of the pool and dipping her foot in before she settled down to sit on the edge and let her feet dangle. "Yeah, I don't want to deal the Mansion, or Genosha just yet. I might not be angry with my father.. but I just.. I need time away from the chaos. Responsibility. I just need space to breathe, and figure things out." She murmured, sipping at her drink.

"I dunno what I'd like to do, it's not like I researched things to do in Rio. I only know about the vaguely creepy Jesus statue.. oh and the beach that I can see. So, two things."

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto laughs at the creepy Jesus statue bit, leaves his mug on a low table and dives into the pool. He emerges close to Lorna, smiling again. "I will take you to the beach, and we can visit the lagoon too. The best way to see the Cristo Redentor is from the air, so it is a good thing both of us can fly up there, hmm? Now come here," he offers his hands to Lorna. "The water is good, but it is too cold for you, I can warm it up."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna made a noise of surprise as Roberto jumped into the pool and swam back her way. She laughed softly, still sipping at her coffee. As he reached out with his hands to convince her to actually jump into the pool, she stuck a foot out in his direction, as if to block him from pulling her further into the water just yet. "First caffeine. Then you can warm me up. How about that?" She drawled, a smirk playing over her lips as she watched him.

"Tell me more about this lagoon." She was almost done with her drink, but wasn't entirely willing to part with it just yet.

"It sounds more romantic than flying over Jesus on a mountain."

Sunspot has posed:
"It is a large lake in the middle of the city," explains Roberto, staying on the pool. "Several rivers feed it, and it is connected to the ocean, so it is not really fresh water. I am not sure if it is very romantic, it is often crowded, but there are boats and... hey, you can judge it when you see it. I think it is pretty nice, the government really cleaned it for the Olympic games of 2016."

He is impatiently waiting for her to finish the coffee. Definitely up to no good. Although probably the 'good' no good ideas in his head.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna seemed to find some amusement in slowly sipping at her drink as she watched him. She let her leg fall back into the water, slowly, and watched him from over the rim of the mug in her hands. "Well that doesn't sound half as romantic when you put it that way. I was half way convinced you owned some secret grotto in the jungle with a waterfall or something." She might've been picturing more of something from the Little Mermaid, or some other movie when that word came to mind.

"I dunno how I feel about boats, never been on one besides the sail boats at Xavier's." She paused, as if considering the last gulp or two in her mug with great importance.

"What about nightclubs? I mean, I know you won't be awake tonight, but.." She trailed off, tilting her head to the side. She had never actually //been// to one before.

Sunspot has posed:
"There are about a million of them in the city," confirms Roberto. "Of course I will take you only to the best," he reaches for her leg. "Do you like to dance? Most American girls I have met can't dance to save their lives and I didn't see you in Stevie Hunter's class. But hey... you are going to date a Brazilian. You have to dance."

And she has to swim too, he is pulling, pulling...

Polaris has posed:
Lorna arched a brow upward, a smile on her lips as she looked down at Roberto as he closed the distance between them, his hands sliding over her legs in the water as she listened to him. "I did dance when I was a kid, almost up to when my powers returned..." Returned, not manifested as she now knew. Her powers had manifested a long, long time ago. If she could believe her step-father's words in her memory, then she might have been born with them all this time. "Ballet. Ballroom... Nothing really that lends to a nightclub." She murmured, even as eyed the last dregs of coffee at the bottom of her mug. Slowly, very slowly, she leaned back to set the mug down out of reached and glanced back toward Roberto. And as he tugged her in, she finally let herself slide into the pool, right alongside him.

She let out a small gasp against the chill of the water in comparison to the warmth of the air. And she caught herself against Roberto's frame. "Well, that coffee was pretty good. Maybe I should get another cup?" She teased.
