Cast of Characters: Captain America, Hawkeye (Barton)

Captain America has posed:
Steve is just back from the kitchen, his coffee mug in hand. He's lost in his thoughts about a SHIELD mission that did not go as expected. Reaching his room he swings the door open and passes inside, but leaves the door wide open. He wouldn't mind a distraction today.

Steve takes a sip of the coffee finally. He pauses and peers at it, then brings it nearer to his nose to take a gentle sniff of it. Another sip. His phone beeps though and he walks over to pick it up. A little shake of his head is given as he unlocks the device. "Kind of miss envelopes and stationary," he comments to himself as he checks to see what the message is.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint had just wrapped up his shift in the monitor room and grabbing a cup of joe to keep him awake for the drive back to Greenwich, he takes a long pull from his mug and frowns at it too. "Weird," he says before looking up at Steve.

He smiles at the man's comments about the march of technology grinning. "We could text you in morse code if it'd make you feel any better."

Captain America has posed:
Steve glances up and over to Barton. "It just might," he says with a warm grin for the man. He reaches over to greet Clint with a firm handshake if accepted. "Is it just me or is the coffee different than normal?" Steve asks, glancing down at the cup in his other hand.

He gives a soft scoff then as he says, "Wow, tells me how the times have changed though. Used to be, coffee was coffee. There was good, and bad, but that was about it for the varieties."

Steve looks at his phone again and then puts it away. "Nothing that needs to be dealt with now," he says of the message. "So, how have you been? It's been a while since we've crossed paths, Clint. Anything interesting?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint grins, slightly at Cap's response as he grabs a piece of wall and leans against it, glancing down at the cup. "Not sure? Definitely not our usual," he says. "Who's turn was it to get more?" Not that they didn't have staff but it was one of those things they did, team building he guessed.

"And yeah, hell, it was just coffee at the circus too, served black, or with too much sugar," he says.

"Been out of it for the most part, domesticated, but I think Skye's got a lead on the search for her mother, if you know about that? Weird story."

Captain America has posed:
Whether the coffee is their normal or not, it's still coffee. Steve takes a long sip of it and moves over to find a chair arm to sit down on as he looks to Clint. "No, actually I don't think I've heard much about that," he says of Skye's family search. "Did they lose touch with each other, or something more than that?" Steve asks, keeping the question general enough it can be answered without Clint needing to dive into details if it isn't appropriate to share them.

"I'm just getting back into the swing of things after a little time away as well," he comments. "I think I needed it to be honest. I've been focused on SHIELD matters quite a bit lately. I think I might need to turn my attention back around here more."

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
True, coffee is coffee and Clint just finished a double shift. He smiles wryly at Steve's question about Skye's family situation... "It's complicated. She's part of some sort of secret society of metas that get their powers from crystals. Skye's one too, Skye thought she was dead like forever until last year, now she's been following these clues to find her, some she thinks mer mom left" he says and shakes his head. "You'd think she'd just reach out right?"

As for Caps plans, Clint nods, "Yeah, me too, SHIELD, home, need to get back here and do some good," a beat while he takes a sip of coffee. "Besides, Jan sort of threatened me if I didn't come back."

Captain America has posed:
Steve crosses his arms as he listens, his seat on the chair arm and his posture suggesting relaxation, while his build and height never really seem to make it feel like he isn't ready for something to happen. His head inclines to the side slightly at the mention of powers from crystals. "Yes, if she wanted to be found you'd think she wouldn't have to leave clues. Unless there's some reason she can't communicate openly," Steve says thoughtfully.

He takes another sip of his coffee and then gives a wry smile. "Hell hath no fury like Janet van Dyne," he says, his tone revealing his obvious fondness. "I'd say you chose wisely then, Clint," he says with a warmer grin.

Steve glances towards the door of the room. "We haven't talked in awhile, not since before I was away," he comments. It's said more to himself, but there's perhaps a small, troubled note to be caught as well.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Could be, but my read was she was in charge of her little group," Clint says, before considering, "Though I guess that could mean she's got to be a certain way to keep her people's loyalty," he ponders. "I hate when answers only make more questions."

"Oh, definitely made the right choice, Jan's the scariest one in the group, hands down. Tiny, but fierce," he says with a grin, one that fades with the change of Steve's tone. "We've both known Jan a long time, Steve, she's," he gives a mirthless 'heh' "Flighty, but, she'll come back to you man. Just give her a bit of time."

Captain America has posed:
Steve's head gives a few little nods, the blue eyes troubled. "And if she can't be open with her own daughter, what might it say about her people then," Steve says, completing the thought. "It doesn't sound like an admirable situation to be in, either way. If the two of you need any help, you know you only have to ask," Steve tells Clint, reaching over to give a companionable clasp on his shoulder before letting go.

Steve rises from where he's perched himself, taking another sip of the coffee. "She is fierce," he says as if thinking of a memory, and his grin turning into something of wry warmth before he looks back up and over to Clint. "I can't quite decide on the coffee. Not bad. But I think I prefer the old roast," he says. "Maybe we could hire Nat to swap it out without anyone being wiser? Unless it was her turn and this is Russian coffee?"

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
"Right?" Clint says, before looking around and saying, "Between you, me and the wall, she's seems like a total bi-" right this was Cap. "Bad person," he finishes with an apologetic smile.

"She is at that," Clint agrees before taking another sip. "It's growing on me a bit, but then you've tried the beer I like, so not the best judge of these things." A shrug. "Naw, it'd be stronger, thicker, the sort of thing that'd get you through a Siberian winter or Stalingrad," he grins. "Probably some sort of genetically enhanced coffee bean thing of Tony's or Bruces, so we can definitely get Nat to swap it out."

Captain America has posed:
Cap finishes off his cup. "Glad we have you secretive you types about for the /important/ missions like this," Steve tells Clint with a warm smile. "Alright, I should probably go read up on some reports and see what all I've been missing around here. That, and my cup is empty," he says of his coffee mug.

Steve heads over for the door. "Well if you two could use my help, just say the word," Steve offers. "Everyone should get a chance to be with their parents whenever they can," he says in a knowing tone, one touched with the emotions you might suspect as he remembers his own parents. "And tell Skye hello for me as well," he says before heading for the door.

Hawkeye (Barton) has posed:
Clint nods and finishes down his own cup, "We do our best," he says on behalf of the secretive types. "Yeah, and I need to be getting home," Clint says as he gives Steve a nod, "Good chat though."

Though Clint lingers when Steve calls back from the door, "Will do, Cap, and thanks. I'll tell her you said hello." Then like Cap the archer goes on about his business.
