Date of Scene: 28 February 2021
Location: Classroom - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Jeremy is called into the office. Alexis paints his fingernails. It will never come off.
Cast of Characters: Prismatic, SpyderByte

Prismatic has posed:
A rainy evening in Alexis's office. The impenetrable mutant with the prism layer beneath her skin is sitting, wearing comfortable jeans and an oversized hoodie, catching up on paperwork as quiet soft pop music issues forth from a vintage radio that has been hooked up with a VOX to her phone.

Her dark hair was in a loose bun about her forheead.

SpyderByte has posed:
It's a rainy Sunday and everyone is mostly putzing about doing things in the Rec Room, or the gym, or splashing around outside. Not Jeremy. That is not his thing.

As he trudges down the hallway in his all black apparel and a backpack over his shoulder, he can be seen walking past Alexis' office. His boots are heavy upon the tile, as is the clinking of chains that jingle and jangle against each other.

Prismatic has posed:
"Hm? Jeremy, is that you?" comes a curious voice from the Deputy Junior Headmistress's and music teacher, substitute French teacher, music teacher -- there's a lot of hats that Alexis might wear.

She pushes her wheeled chair, poking her head out of the office to espy the black-clad lad, and she gives a slight smile. "How are you feeling today?"

SpyderByte has posed:
The sound of heavy boots thumping stops as Jeremy hears his name. He slowly turns around to face the woman who is barely older than him. He shifts his free arm backwards into his bag shoulder strap, then tightens it so that it is secured. The long shaggy hair is brushed away by his hand to reveal his dark eyes that look a bit red and tired. Baggy.

The phone in his pocket is a muffled. << Hello >> before he reaches in and takes it out, then slips it into the holster on his shoulder.

Prismatic has posed:
"Care for a cuppa tea? I've got a kettle on." the dark-eyed teacher gives a warm smile to the lad as she straightens up a little, Alexis looking over the boy in black with concern. "I've also got some cookies sent from my Nona."

SpyderByte has posed:
There is a slow blink from Jeremy's eyes as he tilts his head to one side, then lets out a soft breath. He makes his way into the office and past her, then sinks down into a chair, leaning backwards against the backpack across his shoulders. He reaches up to give a scratch along the back of his neck with his cracked black painted fingernails.

Prismatic has posed:
Alexis slides back into the office, and plugs the electric kettle back in to heat up water. She plucks a box from her drawer and opens it, the scent of sugar and orange and chocolate lifting up from the box, with pictures of the Italian countryside on it showing. She looks to the polish on the nails, and she gives a soft hum.

"'Bout time for a refresh on the nail paint, I wager." she considers thoughtfully.

SpyderByte has posed:
<< It's magic marker. >>

The Siri voice comes from Jeremy's left shoulder as he gives a subtle glance around the rooms as his eyes give a small 'flicker' as he reaches out to whatever devices may be connected in the area. He slides his hands into his lap, fingers wrapping around each other as knuckles pop and crack.

Prismatic has posed:
There's a laptop computer, which has some grades in it that she's going over. There's the kettle, which has a wireless alert in case you forget it's running and can alert your phone. And also Alexis's phone, issued by the school, that has details of where she was hanging out in Boston.

"Would you like me to paint them for you then?" Alexis questions.

SpyderByte has posed:
<< No, I have my own magic marker. >>

Jeremy gives another slow blink of his eyes as he disconnects himself from the technology. He won't go snooping. The idea of him even using actual nail polish is either lost on him or not interested. When tea is placed in front of him, he reaches up and pulls the mug to him closer to peer down at his wobbling reflection on the dark surface.

Prismatic has posed:
"Using nail polish will last longer. I don't mind." Alexis states, and she gives a soft hum. "I think I have one that changes to purple in sunlight. Sugar for your tea?" she questions.

SpyderByte has posed:
<< It's fine. >>

Jeremy says as he squeezes his hands around the mug of tea, feeling the heat sting at his palms. He lifts it upwards and takes a small sip.

<< No sugar. It tastes okay. >>

The fact he can speak while sipping is an advantage it seems. Even if it's not in his voice.

<< Why would you go to Boston to live on the streets and leave behind your job and friends without telling them? >>

Prismatic has posed:
"... because I had some business that had to be completed while I was there." the young woman states quietly, and she steeples her fingers.

"My father was sick." she admits quietly.

SpyderByte has posed:
As he stares at her from over the top of the tea mug, Jeremy's gaze is unflinching. He takes another long sip of tea before he places it down.

<< Why not utilize Xavier's resources for support? It is not tactical to live on the streets pretending to be homeless just to visit your father. Unless of course you wanted to create that illusion for him. >>

He places his finger into his tea, stirring it slowly.

<< Either protecting us, or yourself. >>

Prismatic has posed:
"My father rejected me due to my being a mutant. It didn't feel right to drop resources on a hopeless matter." Alexis replies, pouring herself a cup as she considers.

"My father used my talents to hurt others like me, and was the... instigating factor for my leaving home before I was old enough. It was not a comforting time, and I left without even letting Sam know where I was. I thought it was something that I had to face alone."

    She sips her tea.

"... which ended up being a very poorly thought out plan."

SpyderByte has posed:
<< I tracked you after I noticed you were missing. I pinged your cellular data and networked with multiple cameras to follow your movements. >>

Jeremy takes another small sip from his mug once he pulls his finger out of it.

<< I set up several alerts that would draw my attention if you were to get in trouble. It was very distracting but I am glad you finally came home. I did not tell anyone what you were doing. I figured you had your reasons. >>

Prismatic has posed:
"Thank you. It's nice to know I have someone who has my back regardless of bad ideas." Alexis gives a wry sort of smile to Jer, "I'm sorry I was a distraction to you, and I figured that if you hadn't known where I was, you might have poked around and found out through tracking. You really are quite brilliant, you know."

SpyderByte has posed:
<< It's fine. Distractions are welcome. >>

Jeremy finishes the mug and puts it back down, nudging it to the side. He presses his lips together in thought, then swipes his hair to one side, tucking it behind his ear.

<< It's part of my job. To track and to analyze and to create tactical plans to ensure a team's success. I can see all the angles >>

Prismatic has posed:
"Which makes you invaluable." Alexis states, and then she takes a deep breath.

"Jeremy -- why did you change the voice back to Siri?"

SpyderByte has posed:
There is a shrug of Jeremy's shoulders upwards slowly before he turns the mug around in his hands a few times.

<< I was tired of pretending. >>

It took him a few moments to respond with any type of answer as he went back to staring vacantly into his mug of tea.

<< I figured I should utilize this last year of high school to focus completely on completing my academics so that I can move on. There was no further point in trying to customize anything. >>

Prismatic has posed:
"'Tired of pretending'?" Alexis invites further explaination as she sips her own tea.

"Or of forcing yourself to other people's expectations and desires of you?"

SpyderByte has posed:
Pressing his lips together, Jeremy shrugs his shoulders again.

<< Just pretending. >>

It doesn't seem he is really going to dig any deeper than that. He reaches to his shoulder and unholsters his phone, drawing it into his hands as he gives it a squeeze, then turns it around slowly between his fingers.

<< That I was anything other than a machine. >>

Prismatic has posed:
"... Jeremy, you are not a machine." Alexis states quietly.

"You feel disappointment and hurt. You also feel happiness sometimes. I've seen your lips quirk into a smile, before I left." Alexis states gently. "Machines only put out what someone else puts in. Raw data. A machine cannot smile unless it is told to, or feel those hard-to-process emotions. And it's okay to process them in your own way."

Alexis leans back, drawing her eyes to Jeremy's face.

"I think it is a shame that you would deny yourself being a person while there are those who are trying to take it from you. My favorite form of rebellion, at this point, is existing."

SpyderByte has posed:
Pressing his lips tighter together, Jeremy lifts one shoulder upwards, then drops it down.

<< Maybe I just need time to self-repair before I can go back to that again. I don't feel like myself anymore. >>

There is a soft sigh from his lips.

<< I have a different type of rebellion in mind. >>

Prismatic has posed:
"That is one of those difficult feelings that takes time to process, and needing time to self-repair is definitely part of the processing... process." Alexis leans over slightly, and she raises her eyebrows to him. "I'm not very good at this yet, but I want you to know that I care about you and your well-being. Regardless of if you are in the mansion or not."

SpyderByte has posed:
<< I am not good at this either. It's fine. >>

Jeremy gives another squeeze of his phone as he glances off to the side for a moment to stare at the wall. He taps the edge of his phone against the desk a few times gently.

<< In the future, if you care about people, you shouldn't leave for a month and not tell anyone, especially your boyfriend. >>

There is a small twitch of his lips upwards, just briefly.

Prismatic has posed:
"You're absolutely right. I shouldn't. Especially not my boyfriend." she gives a wry smile, and then she tilts her head back a moment.

"I think I do have some matte black polish, if you'd like."

SpyderByte has posed:
There is a long moment of thought before Jeremy finally puts his hands out in front of him, letting his fingers dangle in front of her.

<< Okay. You can paint them. >>

Prismatic has posed:
Allegra gives a slight smile, and she draws out a couple of items from her drawer. "I keep a couple spare nail polishes in here, in case I need to fix while I'm on the fly." she explains gently, and she draws up one, eyeballing it and giving it a shake.

"I like this one. It's made of the same stuff they made the Space Shuttle bottom tiles out of. I practically need Scott to get this stuff off my fingers." she teases gently, and she proceeds to paint Jeremy's nails with the dark, matte black polish.
