Synopsis: Storm and Cap take a walk and decide to get to know each other better
Cast of Characters: Captain America, Storm

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers does his best not to be recognized. Thankfully, most people know him under the Captain America mask and have less of an idea of Steve Rogers. Throw in a baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt and he looks like a broad shouldered blonde of indeterminate age and not a star-spangled Avenger.

These are humble surroundings to meet someone in, but Steve isn't one to put on airs and he doesn't much see the point in wasting money on expensive food. In his experience, fancy food was usually awful anyway.

Storm has posed:
Casual, yes? Storm could do casual. Casual in the way that costs close to three hundred dollars getting her hair tressed up alone. It was simple, get it braided, hide the extremely white hair with black hair, smear dye along the surface to create an off-color black and brown, normal. Oh, beads and fake jewels where appropriate.

Jeans, her own sweater formed like a camisole and a grey shirt. Boots with a heel. That was as dressed down as Ororo had gotten. All to meet someone for drinks to at least match with others and get her love life in order. Or a little fling. Who cares.

The baseball cap was what was noticed first, then the hunched way he sat. She makes her approach, clutch in front of her, her head dipping a little to catch his attention. "Hello." She offers, her accent wasn't as thick as usual, clearly she was hiding in plain sight as well.

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "Ororo. Good to see you," he says with a smile. He starts to offer his hand then realizes that might be weird and so he just nods, "Not exactly a bar, but the hot dogs here are actually excellent and ethically sourced, too. Reed Richards is very big on that sort of thing," he says.

"I'm glad to see you outside of the field. Now that things have been broken up with the Friends of Humanity, hopefully you and your fellow mutants will get a bit more peace, at least for a little while."

Storm has posed:
"Oh, well I hope the salads here are good as well." Ororo remarks. She helps herself to a seat, her head nodding as well, her clutch placed upon the corner of the table as she tries to make herself comfortable.

"One could only hope." She murmurs. "What is it they say? Cut the head off of one two others grow in its place?" She tilts her head, then shrugs. "I am hoping for a little peace and quiet, which I admit I did get when it was nearing its climax. Bad stuff all around." She smiles. "But nevermind that, how are you?"

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers winces a little, "Yeah, I have a little experience with serpents like that. They do tend to be persistent, but that just m eans we have to keep stomping," he says.

"Sorry, I didn't realize you were vegetarian, I would've picked somewhere else. I guess that comes with being in touch with nature so much, huh?" he asks. As to his own condition, he smiles, "Oh, I'm doing just fine. I try to keep a steady equilibrium. I manage enough energetic personalities, it's best to keep a strong hand at the wheel. It's good to get a bit of a chance to relax and have some relaxation, though."

Storm has posed:
"Mm.." Ororo murmurs, shaking her head. "It's alright. New development of sorts." She waves her hand a little, then listens.. glancing around the place with a nod. "I know what you mean, between teaching and fighting.." She inhales then exhales. "Speaking to someone who isn't connected to my personal grand scheme is a wonder." She smiles, then gestures. "Don't buy into the whole connected with the earth thing. If that's the case I would starve for fear of hurting every living thing. Grass, plants.. trees.." She laughs, then nods. "..speaking of.. fancy a walk? Or are you happy to stay indoors?"

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "Walks are good. I like walks," he says. He quickly takes a sip of his bottle of water and carefully gathers the little bit he'd had, throwing it neatly in the trash, even crushing the bottle to m ake sure it takes up minimal space. "Tony Stark should invent some sort of dissolvable plastic to get at the landfill problem. You're right, I shouldn't overmysticize your powers, but I'm plenty concerned about the state of our environment on our own," he says.

He leads her towards a hanging garden nearby, somewhere between inside and outside, sunlight streaming in and sound filtered away, with plants and fauna. Nature but not quite nature.

Storm has posed:
While he gathers and cleans his things, 'Ro takes a moment to stop and grab herself two bottles of water, which were soon tucked in with her clutch. Once he was ready, she follows along, allowing him to lead the path as she continues to speak. "It's not an over-mysticization, no. Twas a tiny joke. But what you've said was far more accurate than what anyone else has ever come up with. Impressive." She nods seriously at that.

"Much like right and wrong.." She mentions of him, "..if only people understood, truly understood the nature of life and death, and exactly -how- old the concept is. Then, we wouldn't have to worry about our carbon footprint, or the state of emissions and oiled pipelines." She leans into him with a nudge.

"If we all could fly."

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "I do try to be impressive. Sometimes even on my own merit," he says. He doesn't take much credit, after all, for his physical prowess. Most of that was given to him and the rest came from the best teachers he could find and a little luck along the way.

"Maybe. I think people tend to be caught up in their own lives. It's hard enough for us to see the big picture. I have friends who are gods and friends who might as well be. And on in particular who definitely thinks he is. I understand you've been called a goddess a time or two - rightfully so, by my eyes," he smiles. "But big subjects like death make people afraid. It's hard to fit into the simple, daily routine of putting food on the table and paying attention to your sports team and all the other basic rituals of life. And that's just here in America," he says.

Storm has posed:
"And very introspective." Ororo teases. The walk was fine, even though she lifts her eyes just a little to affect the air current. Where it was a little bit muggy from the created environs, she let the air breeze through so they could breathe and not feel compacted.

She nods her head as she listens, hands now transferring behind her back. The clutch hung around her neck easily, even though weighed down by the two water bottles she had secretly gotten for the both of them.

"Ah. In Africa." She states, "It is even moreso. The worry of food and clean water. Medicines. Trees. The animals. And of course, their own sports and schooling." She purses her lips. "It is said and believed that there are many impoverished cities in the continent alone, but most do not realize that is by choice at times. To uphold the traditions of old. A few years ago, crowds gathered to watch the first escalator installed in a building and marveled at its wonder." Ah, there was that accent again, but they were alone.

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers nods, "Too often, we hold ourselves back from moving forward in the world. I'm an old fashioned, traditional man by many standards - how can I help but be, 80 years out of my own time? - but sometimes I fear the human spirit remains trapped in chains forged long before even I was born," he sighs.

"As you said, very introspective," he says with a smile. "I'm not all pensive monologues, don't worry. For leisure, I like to draw - I wanted to be a cartoonist when I was a boy, before the war and the Depression changed everything. I like hiking, climbing, whenever I can get out into nature. I enjoy a good ballgame, although the Dodgers being in LA now still throws me. I can't get attached to the Yankees."

Storm has posed:
"Have you ever thought to catch up?" Ororo teased. But she lets it go unless he wanted to answer.

His introspection was important, and impressive still. The fact that he could change the subject about him and keep it light-hearted, does draw out a smile. "You can still draw." Ororo remarked. While she wasn't much of a sports person, she does allow herself to dream.

"Ice skating." She starts. "Figure skating, more or less. There is just some beauty and strength, watching as they dance along something so dangerous. Hiking and climbing is a given, even if I could fly." She draws in a breath. "And gardening. I have a dream of a field of flowers, fruits and vegetables as far as the eye can see. Not for sustenance, no. Just because the array of colors would look magical against green."

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "I try to catch up on what I can. I'm pretty much up to date these days, although I'm told there are a lot of television shows I missed and every time I mention not seeing them, someone just can't believe it," he says.

"Ice skating is good. I imagine being able to make the ice just perfect makes it even better. I've always enjoyed watching it in the Olympics. And gardens are very nice. I grew up a city boy, but my mother had a little Victory garden she tended in a planter, just to grow tomatoes. They were very much a luxury then, but she always shared them. I don't think we ate more than one out of every four she grew. The rest got handed out to neighbors or the milkman or whoever."

Storm has posed:
"I'll refrain from asking those questions. Though, if I ever want to watch a new show, I know who to ask."

"I could only imagine what it was like back then. You would have to tell me some time." She smiles a little, then looks on. "I wonder if you've inherited your mothers green thumb. Some say that things like that are just instinct. You go in knowing how to grow and nuture."

She turns down another path, finding a bench to rest her feet. While she was used to wearing heels, it felt good to rest for a moment. Water was soon produced from her clutch and offered. "Thirsty?"

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "Thank you," he says, taking a drink. "I haven't given it much thought. Probably because I'm rarely home. I still keep an apartment in Brooklyn, for my personal time, but I'm in it maybe two days a month, if that. Otherwise I'm on mission or in my quarters at Avengers mansion or on the SHIELD helicarrier or..." he sighs. "Too many threats, too many missions. When you set yourself up as Earth's first line of defense, I guess you can't complain if it keeps you busy."

Storm has posed:
It was almost sad, listening. But she wasn't going to let his woes or problems get him down. She was going to offer a very, very healthy solution.

"Well, when you are able to get away, call me." She nods. "We won't go anywhere, we won't do anything. We'll order in from all the walks of the life, try things we've never done before, and -watch- things we've never before."

That sounded like a good time, right? She takes out her own bottle and drinks, then points it towards him to toast. "No matter what, those little days are going to be meant for peace, quiet, relaxation, and recharging."

Captain America has posed:
Steve Rogers smiles, "I think I would like that, very much," he says. "We both have our obligations, of course, but all the more reason for us to have friends outside of those circles," he says. "I'm supposed to watch something called 'Friends'. I tried to watch some of it but I don't think I understood any of the jokes."

Storm has posed:
Ororo sucks her teeth extremely loudly at the suggestion. "Poor choice." Her hand immediately lifts to snap her fingers. "Seinfeld. Thirty minutes. No committment. Jokes easy to folla even for me." She laughs then and rises. "Come. Let us find a quiet place and we can watch the first episode together."
