Something I've been Meaning to Tell You..
Date of Scene: 15 March 2021
Location: Ready Room, The Triskelion
Synopsis: Skye and Nat discuss IcedLotus... and Alexander Aaron. Mostly Alexander Aaron.
Cast of Characters: Quake, Black Widow (Romanoff)

Quake has posed:
Normally Skye would be sitting in the break room, busy at her computer, but occasionally she commandeered the Ready Room instead. Like today. She had been working, but was hoping to chat with Natasha. Both about IcedLotus, and Alexander.

Especially Alexander..

While she waited, she plugged in the sim card from Clint and poked at it

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Natasha had gotten the request for a meeting. It wasn't through work channels so she guessed it was something else related. Coming from Skye, it could be any number of things that didn't really have to do with official business.

Dressed in her SHIELD uniform, she headed into the Ready Room with a brief knock at the door before opening it and entering. Just enough to announce herself but not standing around outside waiting to be called in.

"Afternoon. How's it going?"

Quake has posed:
Right on time.. give or take a few hours. Seeing as it wasn't 'official' business..

"Hey. Clint brought me back a surprise." Skye looks up at her. "He had a friend who had a friend.. you know how it is."

She fingers a lighter on the table. Just fingers it. Nat should realize what she has though.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Like good surprise or like work surprise?" Since anything tech related would make Skye happy, no matter which it was. From Natasha's point of view, Skye is working on her computer. She doesn't realize she has something specific plugged in there.

She settles down in one of the chairs, gaze flicking to the lighter then back to Skye. "What'd he bring you?"

Quake has posed:
"A good something, pertaining to our work. You know."

Skye loves when she can hide what she really wants to do inside another. *Now* she flick a switch on the lighter.

"I haven't into it. Just looking around a bit. Seems similar to some of the code we have picked up at the AIM research lab."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Oh? The master driver thing from the robot? We been able to track the signal or anything yet? I know the tech was kind of new so figure it will take a while to work through completely," Natasha says, looking to the lighter as she realizes they have some privacy.

"What's the story?" She's guessing now it might be a drive or disk that is plugged into that laptop but she isn't sure the details. "Is it related to AIM specific or IcedLotus or something else entirely?"

They really have too many fires burning at once, never enough time to seem to dig to the bottom of one before another flares.

Quake has posed:
"You would think she did this simply to bug me. It's taken me this long to find my way through this without having the whole thing shutting down. Too bad Clint didn't give me this sim card before. But it confirms it's hers."

Skye showed her the sim card. It was going to make everything much simpler. She still needed to check it though.

"How's Alex." Not Aaron. Skye knew Nat had something of a personal relationship. Now she was trying to figure it out and 'Alex' was as good a way as any.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"So it's the key which ties IcedLotus into things. I see why you are excited by his present," Natasha says with a smile. "Once you break through her security, maybe it will give us a starting point to track her down."

Then the conversation shifts. The choice of name is picked up. Visually, Natasha doesn't reach. "Agent Aaron?" She goes with the professional version. "Last I spoke with him, he was fine. Did well on his first overseas assignment."

Quake has posed:
"Yeah. I'm thrilled. And not only because he's back. This sim card has the potential to, probably, cut my work in half. And that isn't the only thing on it. So far his contact remains anonymous." Yes, Skye is a bit put out by that - it probably indicates a new name on the black net. And climbing.

For a moment Skye sat with Nat's reply. "Aaron has some peculiarities. But I'm quite certain you know that, hrm?"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"If anyone can crack it, you can." Natasha has supreme confidence in that. While it might not be instant, she's certain Skye will work through all the cyber traps and details to get her gal, so to speak. "His contact is anonymous to him still too? THat may be good. Or bad."

Then things seem to have turned back to the new agent. Natasha continues to play along. "Peculiarities? I'm not sure what you mean by that. Please explain?" She has to tred carefully where Alexander is concerned. There are details about him that are not for public consumption, so to speak. But she's not sure what specifically Skye has keyed in on.

Quake has posed:
Skye decided to ignore her trojan horse now. Sure she could try to be surprised, just shooting the shit while talking about a real case (sorta). But they both knew that between the two of them Skye usually had more insight and inspiration. When she had an idea, about anything, usually she was on the right track. Usually.

"Really? You're going to play it that way?" Skye stared at her a moment. "Very well. Your.. trainee.. is very.. new? To the internet. Too new. His background is, frankly, barren. Nothing that stands out has SHIELD material at all. In the past, again, *perfectly* normal. You would almost think he *is* the average child in a text book. And the little bit I can find on him, it the internet makes *no* sense. At least not to me."

"Which brings me to the next point. I am Fury's special project, so I know what I am looking at. You tried to bury him in "average". Bull shit. For one Fury is not curious in average. Nor are you. I don't know *what* you're up to, but let me be frank, if I know this, someone else does too. And you better believe it, they won't be happy to stop when I did."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"I'm not playing anything. I've seen the same records you have. It was brought to my attention that he had applied as a cadet by Fury. Because I am friends with his father." Natasha gives a slight shrug.

"If you are wanting to know if there is a story under the story? That's a question to ask Alexander Aaron. I appreciate you thought to approach me, but I have nothing to share. Once you have spoken with him, then we can talk about that again."

Quake has posed:
And there Skye had it: speak to the source.

She had almost said that she didn't give a damn about Alexander Aaron - just he needed a better story. And then on one hand she still pretended that there was nothing around him that was strange.. except she told her: speak to the source.

Skye nodded. "Someone" (her?) "should brush his records up. I can do it so it looks like I found bits and pieces of his 'lost life', to keep the nosy nellies as far away as possible. If you can't beat them, join them." So to speak. And she was an excellent hacker. Always bringing up from the deepest dark into the light, only this time she would be creating it.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Once you talk to him, see if he might like that. If he feels it is necessary," Natasha says as she gives a grin to Skye.

There is a sound from a pouch in her belt. She pulls out her cell phone and sighs. "But sadly, we have to continue later. Fury wants me. Hopefully about something else," she adds with a laugh before hopping up and heading for the door.

Quake has posed:
Skye presses the lighter into the off position. She had things to think about.
