Post Brunch.. Meetup
Date of Scene: 12 September 2021
Location: Mel's Diner - Breakstone
Synopsis: Wendell visits the diner where Sarah works.
Cast of Characters: Sarah Connor, 10070

Sarah Connor has posed:
Sarah had fifteen minutes to go.

All her tables had left (with varying degrees of tips). Brunch was officially over. Right now she was filling up various containers while she was covering for Rhonda, the lady who was on the diner shift, with the new girl who was going to be here for supper.

"Take your time." She had said, but as the time edged closer to her shift end, she was edgy.

Still she had pepper and salt to finish. And watching the diner! Sure, they really expect from 3 to about 4:30 - that's why they did things like fill the containers, and wash the stools, etc. But it was quiet.

Wendell Vaughn (10070) has posed:
New York. Brooklyn. Brunch. Well Lunch. Wendell hasn't attended church in quite some time. I mean would you be so into imaginary friends when you are -actual- friends with a billions of years old cosmic entity, the embodiment of Cosmic Awareness in the universe? Kinda puts a whole new view onto things like.. Omniscience. Either way, he does live alone, and like many bachelors out there... he's not crazy about cooking, or buying good food for his fridge. So he has taken to a habit of spending Sunday afternoons seeking out a new place to try for lunch until he can find one that resonates so well that it becomes his regular.

Now, it's also not like he is worried about travel times. A quick suborbital jump and he could have lunch in Budapest or whatnot. Either way, he walks into the diner in his blue jeans, and a dark green teeshirt with a yellow bordered, white G on it. Yep, he's from Wisconsin, and is a total Packers fan.

Sarah Connor has posed:
*dingle dingle*

There was the bell. Sarah was up to her elbows in salt. Still she plastered on a smile. "Just two shakes of a dead lamb's tail, and I'll be with you.." And as she said it she faced the door, and stopped. "Oh. You again."

For all she knew he'd looked her up. Damn. What else did he know? Was this the time when the diner was under fire, and she had to raise her hands and come along peacefully?

Slow down Sarah. Let's play it his way.

Smiling slightly (she was an excellent waitress after all), "Sorry. Just let me put this away, and do you want a menu?" She took up one just in case. "The western sandwich is pretty good. So is the burger plate."

Yes. She was most definitely playing this his way.. Or so she thought.

Wendell Vaughn (10070) has posed:
Okay, Wendell -is- an agent. He has some self-control. However, it's not enough for him to not show that he is totally dumbfounded to see this woman here.

"Um. Hey." he says, lifting both brows. "I'd love a menu, yeah. Sorry..." he inclines his head and jerks a thumb towards the door, "Would it be better if I left? I was literally just trying out a new place... I've spent four years -way- out of town, and I'm trying to get a feel for what's good again."

Sarah Connor has posed:
Sarah *thinks* he's telling the truth. All the indicators seem to point that way. But what does he mean..*way* out of town. Something about that niggles.

He doesn't act like a terminator?

Still..

She took a deep breath, and for a minute it was all Sarah before him. Not the waitress, who was just an act, but *Sarah*. "If you really didn't know where I worked." She shakes her head and was back to waitress Sarah, smiling but not with her eyes. "Are you kidding? My boss would have a cow if I let you go."

Still 'smiling' she looks around.

"Anywhere you'd prefer. We've only got a couple empty seats left."

That was a joke. Wendell was the only customer.

Wendell Vaughn (10070) has posed:
Smirking at that last part, Wendell shrugs his shoulders. "Well, the least I can do is tip well." he offers as he turns and heads for a seat.

Along the way, he mentally commands his invisible wristbands to be even more alert for Temporal Anomalies... and to focus on that more than other EM emissions. Just in case. I mean he doesn't want some time traveling cyborg to rip through the wall and kill Sarah before he can get his lunch, right?

Okay, so that's not really the priority, as amusing as it might be to consider. "So, do you have any specialty sandwiches? Like maybe a burger combined with barbecue pork? Or whatnot?" he asks as he lifts the menu upon sitting and skims over it.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"Well, we do have the Up North burger. Instead of bacon, it has Canadian bacon? Really though if you want pulled pork we can do it, for a minimal extra charge." They weren't supposed to order off the menu, but the girls knew a way around it.

No, Sarah was certain he's who he says he is, NOT a Terminator. Which does bring up the question of what did he mean by 'a long way out of town'. Something in the way he said it was peculiar.

"I'll bring you coffee while you think about what you want. And I'm off in.. well, as soon as I bring your order to the cook. Rhonda will be serving you then."

Wendell Vaughn (10070) has posed:
Grinning, Wendell shrugs, "If you could add swiss cheese also, I'd pay whatever was required for it. I mean... I -am- from Wisconsin, so I -need- cheese with every meal. It's practically a state law." he offers with a bit of a sheepish grin.

"Well, I'm sorry if I am keeping you. But... when you're done, maybe you could sit and keep me company?" And then he cringes, "Wait, that sounded totally like a pickup line. Sorry. I just would love to ask you about a few things... you might understand my absolute curiosity."

Sarah Connor has posed:
There it is. She knew it would be coming.

"Swiss cheese. Got it." Sarah was going to turn around, when she stopped. "With mushrooms? I have it on excellent authority that they are excellent. I would highly recommend them."

After she takes his order, and put it into the kitchen, she comes and sits with him. Taking a coffee with her. "So, what do you want to know?" Gone was the waitress; Sarah was here.
