A god and a cat walk into a coffee shop
Date of Scene: 21 June 2022
Location: Coffee Shop, Hot Joe's - Gotham
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Loki, Ivory

Loki has posed:
It was a day that might have been epic for the patrons of Hot Joe's in Gotham - enjoying an afternoon snack or drink in the company of a god. Not just a god, but the God of Mischief, nearly conqueror of Earth, would-be ruler of Asgard if the line of succession dipped, technically heir to two kingdoms. It could have been the most amazing day of their lives - but to Loki, it was just a Tuesday.

So instead of presenting with elaborate yellow horns coming out from his helmet and richly crafted green Asgardian battle armor, Loki is dressed in a simple hunter green suit with a yellow tie. Sipping at coffee which proclaims itself to be the best in Gotham, but is roughly 83rd on the list. And watching as people come and go, completely obvious to the fact that true greatness lies just feet away from them.

Pity.
Ivory has posed:
In the alternative, they could also dine in the presence of the one animal that egyptions worshipped as being sent from the same goddess that guarded Wakanda, which the persian lords refined and which through Italy became the Angora and then the persian cat. Well, not *the* persian cat, but *a* person that *could* be a persian cat if they wanted. But today? They were wearing a plain old human guise, white hair tied to a ponytail as they lined up to get some of the caffeinated material.

Yawning a little, the eyes of Ivory seem affixed on the screen of the phone in the hand, shuffling forward with the eb and flow of the people getting their atrocities to how the brew of the arabica was brewed and shipped hundreds of years ago... freshly brewed by steam and mixed with copious ammounts of milk and suggar, so unlike the extremely hot cooked and then barreled product of then.
Loki has posed:
A cat ordering coffee might have drawn the eye of Trickster god. But a human? Barely registers, at least for a moment.

No, Loki sips at his coffee allowing his gaze to drift along, taking in each of the people. Rather than using his magical arts to scry into the lives of these Midgardians, he amuses himself by crafting elaborate stories in his mind of what they are doing. The couple at the table in the back are having an illicit love affairs. The man sitting by himself fumbling with a camera by the window is a private investigator hired by the cuckolded husband. Plot twist, the girl coming in now is both the daughter of the cheating man AND the secret lover of the husband who hired the PI. Although she does look a bit young for that role, so maybe recast.

Eventually Loki's gaze comes to rest upon Ivory, after casting the nosy neighbor, the daughter's secret crush, and a preppio in the corner. Because really, casting a preppie in anything just sours it out, so they are best left alone.

What role does Ivory play in this particular drama?
Ivory has posed:
Ivory finally gets to the counter to order, under the watchfull eye of a certain black-haired god. Black and white hair, short and long, a perfect dualism, some people might claim. As the phone ends in the pocket of the jacket that is carrying a little embroidery of a persian cat on the back, the voice of the belonging person somewhere... Contralto? Countertenor? It's neither here nor there as they order a mixture of coffee, milk, white chocolate (which isn't chocolate but vanilla flavored cocoa butter, and thus pretty much just pure fat and suggar) and to top it off a couple rainbow sprinkles.

Yes, what role would befit that white haired stranger in the drama penned by the god of stories? A role that breaks the frame just as much as the buzzing taste of magic that seems to cling to the slender frame? One that is so hard to pinpoint as the gender of the person in the cat-decorated jacket?
Loki has posed:
Perhaps Loki passed on Ivory too quickly. The contrast of colors (or lacks thereof) draws a certain amount of attention in how it stands out from the rest of the cookie cutter crowd. And only then with a bit of study does hint of magic start to permeate Loki's perceptions.

Ah, a rich role indeed for that one. The stranger from outside of time and place, not a part of the story but within it. Perhaps much like the god of Mischief is in the room in reality, the role cast upon Ivory is audience. Or perhaps Greek chorus? Narrator? So many delicious options.

The play game fades from Loki's interest as the very real sense of magic stirs a curiosity within him. He draws the coffee cup to his lips to hide his lips moving in a near silent incantation of scrying, extending his visual senses towards something more bordering on TrueSight.

What is this Ivory, after all?
Ivory has posed:
Ivory appears like an onion to the magical eye. As the figurative metabody is peeped apart and exploded to see the parts it is made up, it's a strange mixtrue of magic that gets examined. Primordial, unfettered and just contained essence of magic gleams from within as the shell is examined and peered through. But what about the shell of the body? Like petals it unfolds, some of them clearly making up who this is. But what do they stand for? It takes a little sorting, but then the tallies comes up.

It's a human. And currently apparently a female, but very closely hidden underneath the outer layer is the pattern of what might be the woman's male twin, as if waiting to take over. Hidden within that layer is, for whatever reason, the patterns that put together would form a fluffy persian feline, but it is not left in one piece but strewn out like a wardrobe. A shapechanger. And then there's that tether to... the same place where the body is anyway?
Loki has posed:
"Fascinating," murmurs Loki into his coffee mug before setting it down before him. He studies the visuals that are presented, intrigued by the nuance and the juxtaposition all at once. He tries to get to the bottom of what precisely it is and realizes that it transcends even his understanding. Which of course, makes it truly fascinating, as he said. There is little that is beyond his understanding.

The question now is - what to do with that information?
Ivory has posed:
Was it truely evading understanding or was it just the backlight of the sheer ammount of potential that could be drawn from the body in some way or another that was making the edges of the patterns blurr? Taking some time to look it through might solve some of the mystery. Though there might be other ways to solve the mystery.

The mystery person does just accept the cup from the barrister in exchange for a few bills and a nod, then starts to turn with a sip from the cup. Then... BAMF! The pattern seems to collapse and contract, then change as it reassembles. Almost the same?! wait, there's a difference. It's tiny. The ears are gone. At least those that were there a moment ago. Replaced by those from what appeared to be the dismembered patterns of a cat.
Loki has posed:
Loki has seen all manner of things in his centuries of life. Surprising things, dramatic things, unexpected things. He has _done_ some of those things.

When the visual changes so suddenly while his gaze is so focused, it makes Loki nearly jump in his seat, his fingers twitching. As daintily as he had to hold the cup given his Asgardian strength, it shatters the mug as the shock registers on his face.

What is he looking at??
Ivory has posed:
The Internet, oh wonder, would call the person a catgirl or catboy now, with the floofy white ears poking from the white hair and ever so slightly twitching as they smell at the coffee cup. Then, both turn ot the sound of shattering porcellain, the eyes following right behind.

"Everyhing ok?" the hard to place voice asks. Pf all the people in the room, only the godling knew after all what hid under the clothes. "Do you need a doctor or something?"
Loki has posed:
The initial shock has passed. Loki fixes Ivory with a steady gaze. "No, I am not in need of any medical treatment." It is clear from his eyes that he is seeing something he is not quite sure of.

"Would you care to join me?"

His accent is not placeable - unless you are familiar with Asgardians.
