Thunder in the distance
Date of Scene: 03 August 2023
Location: Upper West Hill, Old Gotham
Synopsis: Jason and Barbara.
Cast of Characters: Red Hood, Oracle

Red Hood has posed:
It has surely been on Oracle's radar that Red Hood and Huntress have been working together the last several months on a more regular basis. That there have been a few mob related hit attempts and/or kidnapping attempts on Helena Bertinelli - one in public, one from her own penthouse (that succeeded) and that Red Hood was involved in rescuing her would have been easily found too, considering one never knows just what Oracle has filtered to pick up.

Tonight? Red Hood is working solo. In Upper West Hill, there is a mob house that is used for running drugs. There is a respectable amough of money and product going in and out of the site and Hood has every intention of putting an end to it.

Sitting in his heavily modified '67 GTO, he watches from a darkened side street. Waiting. Watching activity.
Oracle has posed:
The increased tension happening between Red Hood and Huntress against the Mob had certainly been pinging on Oracle's network. It helped that she had connected her systems with Red Hood's too as it made it easier to track the Bat Family's movements and so she had been made aware of what was going on.

The same way she was aware of the operation happening tonight.

The sleek batmobile that is Batgirl's races through the streets as it makes it's way to Upper West Hill, the various panels showing her surveillance and info on those particular targets tonight. What was to happen was going to be /soon/. She steps on it.

"Good evening, Red Hood. This is Oracle. I am closing in to your location, feel like a team-up tonight?" the metallic voice heard on comms.
Red Hood has posed:
Red Hood pauses at the message and behind his crimson mask he both scowls and smirks at the same time. It's an achievement he is probably proud of, not that he'd ever admit it.

"Hello Oracle. I think I'm a little confused on what exactly you are.." he says with a wry tone. "I thought you were Batgirl's Siri.. Which if you are then sure, Batgirl, you want to come beat down the Mob with me, who am I to deprive you of the satsifaction? If not.. Oracle I'm going to need a flow chart to explain to me when I call you Oracle and when I call you Batgirl."
Oracle has posed:
"Surprise." Says the metallic voice still, no emotion, "I joined the new rage and went mobile." it adds, still in that infuriating monotone of a voice. Which in a way it's true with the Oracle version Barbara has installed on her batmobile. Sure it isn't as robust as the one at the Aerie but it's still a thing and connects to the main one.

Barbara shifts comms and what comes next is her voice, "Eyes up. I am getting a surge of communications coming from within. Something is happening." the batmobile comes to a stop a couple of blocks down and the canopy opens, Batgirl stepping out and taptapping on a wrist device she is wearing. A couple of drones go up to start more detailed surveillance.

"Huntress not around tonight?" Batgirl asks. Oh yes, she knows they had been working together. Probably not a surprise.
Red Hood has posed:
"Surprises aren't a lot of fun these days" he notes quietly.

Emerging from The Car (because he refuses to call it the Red or Hood-mobile) he checks his pistols before flipping switches on each. The high tech weapons are then connected together, right pistol behind the hammer of the left and they lock together, creating a rifle complete with scope. Scanning the house from the shadows he muses into the comms..

"...what.. are .. they.. up to..."

Then the weapon lowers at the comment about Huntress. The tightness in his voice is impossible to miss. Given how often they have been seen together in or out of armor, the measure of hostility in his voice is surely unexpected.

"She's hung up the cape." The tone does not leave a lot of wiggle room to ask for details.
Oracle has posed:
The shift of tone and borderline hostility in those last words isn't hard to catch, even on comms. And while Batgirl has always known Jason to be aggressive this seems different. More personal. Though Barbara is indeed able to read the 'room' and doesn't ask for details.

Not that it will stop her from looking into it with more attention later.

Drones fly silently up through the air as Batgirl shoots a grappling hook over to a building, going airborne to find a vantage perch close to the building in question. "Eyes in the sky are showing a small convoy of SUVs coming to the front of the building. A meeting?"

She makes a running start and jumps from the building she is at, cape spreading as she hovers towards that alley Hood is at.
Red Hood has posed:
Red Hood turns to look toward the arriving vehicles.

"Wasn't one expected that I know of. Guess not all of my intel was solid." Something else to be annoyed about.

"Guess this is going to be a lot more messy than expected. For them." Because he is channeling his anger into the situation. Not even the devil will recognize what is left of most of them once Hood is finished.

"I'm going in loud from the front. You want to sweep around back to keep any stragglers from getting out and then meet in the middle?" Because he knows she has far more stealth than he chooses to use and some of those inside are going to try to go the opposite direction once the bullets begin to fly.

Stepping around his car door as it shuts on its own, he raises his rifle and slips a flashbang grenade only the muzzle, preparing to fire.
Oracle has posed:
"Remember what our mission here is." Aka delivering justice, not having it be a way of channeling anger through. It makes Barbara frown just so though. She is starting to sound too much like Batman and she isn't sure how good a thing that is.

She shoots another grappling hook while hovering, towards the building they are about to assault, pulling herself over and towards the roof. "Getting in position." she announces, swooping over towards the back where it's quieter. Even if she notes some sentries posted about. These guys weren't kidding with security. She lands right on the edge and drops to a knee, her cape back to being around her shoulders.

A batarang appears between fingertips and she gets ready to throw it.
Red Hood has posed:
Jason Todd says, "Our mission? You joined me" he snaps, instantly regretting the tone he took but too proud to apologize. Which upsets him further because that's exactly what Helena did.

He fires off the flashbang and immediately follows it with a volley of fire from his custom rifle.

The rounds streak across the distance toward the SUVs just as the doors begin to open and just before the flashbang goes off - so the occupant's attention is aimed toward Red Hood and the flash will be in their line of sight.

Those unfortunate to be hit by Hood's rounds go down quickly and he doesn't stop firing.

"Contact. Moving in now."
