Danger Room: Rogue Sessions
Date of Scene: 25 October 2023
Location: Danger Room - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Scott and Rogue.
Cast of Characters: Cyclops, Rogue

Cyclops has posed:
The Danger Room was Cyclops's domain.

He programs the settings, he runs the drills, spins the wheels, he sets the standard. At least, that's what every fiber of pride in his body would have you beleive. He's not the best person to ever walk through that X-shaped door, but he might be one of them.

Quite literally nearly impossible to 'win' the scenarios of Cyclops's favorite setting: Level 10 (or Level X, if you like Roman Numerals). Cyclops observes with a slow, careful eye.

He's watching simulations, enemies like Juggernaut, of alien invaders, of even Avengers. How he would dodge their attacks. How he would fight back. How he would strike without the use of his abilities. Surfaces to bank his optic blasts off of to strike maximum effect with minimal power.

He has a faint shine of sweat to his features, analyzing specifically his previous performance against an unconventional opponent like, for instance, the Wendigo. He didn't do very great, but that's why he's the planner. He's already formulating strategies off the drop of a hat.

...and he's learning to survive.
Rogue has posed:
The Danger Room may be Cyclops' domain, but he's not the only one known to run solo simulations.

It just might be Cyclops' luck that Rogue had an inkling in her head to work out some things. To toss a sentinel or few around, or play dodge the Juggernaut. Either way, she does often leave a note to some people on where she is and what she's doing...in case they want to check on her later...

However, when she comes to the Danger Room this time, she finds it in use. A smirk and she uses her code to override the door so that it opens and she walks in to spy a Cyclops all on his own and thats when she grins.

"Ain't there somethin' in the rule book that YOU made up that says no X-men is supposed to be in the Danger Room on their own? Just because you made the rules don't mean you get to break 'em, Summers.."
Cyclops has posed:
"I made all of these rules with the acknowledgement that they will ALL be broken."

Cyclops tells Rogue without looking at her, visored eyes staring at the hard light holograms in front of him with amusement written on his face. Even still, as Rogue approaches, Scott keeps his hand on his chin and his lips pressed into a thin line. "Besides, that rule was made with the intent to keep anyone from being seriously hurt....and while the simulation was in session."

Only now does Scott turn to look at Rogue, a cheeky grin on his face. "So really, I haven't broken the rule. I'm just doing homework."

#StillTheExample!

But at least she was willing to ask about it. "How are you, Rogue? Haven't tried to kill Logan yet have you?
Rogue has posed:
Rogue scoffs. "Right. Because you've got the one who can heal himself from practically anything so long as his head isn't lopped off. Me, who has a slew of powers designed to keep her practically immune to most anything..." Rogue says this and then laughs.

"I'm good, Summers. And no, I ain't tried to kill Logan just yet. But give it time..." She winks his way and then takes a few more steps forward. "You about done with your homework? Wanna run a quickie with me?" Asking this as she looks him over, perhaps trying to assess just how tired or worn out he might be from his 'not session'.

"Tell it to run the program Rogue Sentinels 587." She offers and then takes a few steps away from him before giving a tilt of her head. "Oh...and watch out...they come in quick right off the bat."
Cyclops has posed:
"Yep."

No small amount of sarcasm there.

"And in your defense, your powers borrowed someone elses powers and now you're pretty much indestructible within normal reason." Scott smirks at her, joining her in the laugh. Hearing that she's okay brings a look of satisfaction to his features. "Well, good to hear he's still in one piece. I'm somewhat worried he'll piss you off in the wrong way and I'll get a SOS from him in the mountains somewhere."

A small joke.

"Sure, if you want." A wave of his hand and the current recordings completely vanish! Leaving Scott rolling his shoulders and lifting his cowl over his head. "I know it well. I've run it a few times to see what you do for fun." A tease.

"Danger Room: Run simulation Rogue Sentinels 587, confirmation code XL-CLK-97."

The Danger Room hums in expectation...

And quite quickly, the room comes to life, with massive Senteinsl standing above the pair! Three in total.

<<Mutant Identified: Eradication Commencing->>

Three massive palms lift and point at Rogue and Cyclops as the rest of their environment becomes much like a post-apocalyptic wasteland-version of New York City!
Rogue has posed:
Rogue beams a little smile. "But I never try to take them forgranted. Especially with the few I've managed to keep somehow..." Always a fear in the back of her mind that she'll lose them one day, too.

But that's a Future-Rogue problem.

Current Rogue is now being shadowed by three tall Sentinels, all with their palms out ready to boogie. At least the moment they have to take to actually command themselves to eradicate a mutant gives her enough time to jump up into the air and fly over to a overturned barrel. She lifts the barrel with ease and flings it towards the head of the first Sentinel she can make out.

"Take that, Tin Can!"

Then she's up in the air again, trying to get a lock on where Cyclops has himself, and then get a bead on the other Sentinels and any toys she has to play with. Like barrels, cars, big long logs from power lines...
Cyclops has posed:
"Well, if you did take them for granted, I'm sure the Professor would have words with you!" Cyclops tells her as the simulation comes alive before their very eyes, his dominant hand immediately coming up to his ear to be ready to manipulate his visor via the control there. "Come on..."

He fires a red beam of brilliant energy from his eyes, powerful enough to shatter one of the hands of the Sentinels aiming a blast at him, his lithe body suddenly moving out of the way in a massive leap as a beam comes straight for him! Narrowly avoiding simulation-based destruction.

"Try that!" He points at said big long log of a power line that looks like it'd be a really great stabbing tool for someone with super strenght like Rogue!

Meantime, the first Sentinel turns it's stationary eyes towards Rogue and starts to walk towards her, seemingly unhappy with the barrel she decided to plunge int othe machine's eye. <<Mutant Identified. Resistance is futile.>>
Rogue has posed:
Rogue watches as Scott jumps out of the way of that beam shot at him just in time. Then she spots the power line log and gives a nod of her head. "Right!" Diving down towards it.

The Sentinel spotting her and making her his target is just what Rogue actually wanted. She picks up the log and holds it like a jousting lance just before flying straight towards the Sentinel coming at her! The intention is to skewer the Sentinel and use the leverage to flip it over and pound it into the ground.

If this is how Rogue has fun in the Danger Room just IMAGINE what her and Logan may get up to from time to time.

Hehe.

"Cyclops! Behind you!" Sentinel number three is locked on to Cyclops and lifing his hand...
Cyclops has posed:
Rogue gives Scott that warning, that the third Sentinel is locked on to Cyclops from behind him and he's looking about to take aim!

"I have him!"

Cyclops's visor glows a brilliant red as he blasts at a seemingly random point. However, the beam seems to ricochet off of numerous surfaces. The edge of a fire hydrant, a perfectly angled wall, and even a glass panel angled in /juuust/ the right way.

and that red beam comes right towards the Sentinel's eyes! The scanning retinue's blasted straight through the socket, at least enough to blind it momentarily for Scott to get moving!

All the while, Rogue easily manages to straight up impale the Sentinel straight to the ground! <<Unusual Damage Detected: Begin immediate repairs>> The Sentinel groans in it's composition of metal and agony, trying to remove the log pole even as Rogue is starting to pound it into the ground hard enough to crack the earth beneath her!
Rogue has posed:
"Nice work, Summers!" Rogue calls back before pushing that log a bit more against the Sentinel she's practically buried into the ground. Though it's also very likely pinned there, but that means she can still be the target of a hand blast from the tin can. So, she flies back to pick up the first heavy metal thing she can find and carries it over to lob right at the Sentinel's head.

That will at least buy her some time.

"Repairs my ass! I'll finish you off before you can cry for yer mommy..."

This is said before she falls back a bit and then glances over to Cyclops. "You got this last one too? Do we know if there are any more coming?" Even if this is her program, it's designed in a way that the number of Sentinel enemies is randomized. Anywhere from one to twenty could spawn when the program is ran and they could appear from anywhere if they spawned just outside visual range.
Cyclops has posed:
"The only kind of work I do!" Cyclops returns the compliment with some minor arrogance, but that doesn't stop Scott in the slightest, his figure immediately moving forward in a surge of enthusiastic speed, his eyes starting to look around for anything that he can use to add to his advantage. He doesn't have Rogue's strength or her invulnerability or her speed. But he does have some pretty spectacular adaptating-on-the-fly techniques.

Rogue easily keeps that Sentinel down, the thick log pinning it's metal carapace to the ground, even as the mechanized beast tries to pull itself by the log, as if trying to work towards freeing itself from the restraint. But alas, to no such avail. Rogue chucks the first, heaviest thing she can find and the Sentinel finds it's heart being severely dented by the object, strong hands meticulously lifting to try and free its head from a new obstacle!

As Scott is running to try and get to higher ground, he finds himself approached by Rogue herself. "I can manage. As for if there are more coming? Almost a guarantee." He remarks to her. "What we have to do is-"

A beam of golden energy is coming straight for them as a hand is aiming at them from above!

"Get to a /LOT/ higher altitude than this! Give me a quick lift?"

<<Mutant Detected: do not resist>>
Rogue has posed:
Rogue snerks, just because that is a very Scott thing to say about himself when complimented. Still, she accepts his arrogance for what it is and gives a nod. The comments that come next also have her tilting her head as if trying to figure out their next move.

Though it's almost answered for them with that gold beam of light coming at them fast. "You got it!"

She lifts Cyclops easily and quickly begins to climb to a higher altitude. She'll wait for just the right moment and for Scott's signal to let him go - hoping that he has some plan on where and how to land unless she's just going to play keepy-uppy with Scott and not a soccer ball.

"Say when!"
Cyclops has posed:
What can he say?

He's a confident man.

Yet, Rogue follows his instructions and lifts him off of the ground, the pair soaring into the sky as the Sentinel that was above them turns to look upon them. <<Targets Escaping. Scenario Undesirable.>> as the massive machine starts to walk towards them, as if in pursuit.

"Little more..."

Scott instructs Rogue, until he looks up at her and he smiles. "Soon as you drop me, do a sweep and make sure there arn't any others working towards us. And....drop me....Now."

And now, all he can hope is that Rogue does indeed drop him.
Rogue has posed:
Rogue keeps one eye on the Sentinel and one eye on how high up they are. Scott, you better have a plan....

Up and up until he's giving her directions and she nods her head. "Drop you, do a sweep, come make sure you didn't kill yourself. Got it.." That much with a smirk and as soon as Cyclops tells her to drop him, she does so. Immediately flying off to do the requested sweep. She may find one stray sentinel, but hopefully not many more.

Unless they're getting more clever and hiding better.
Cyclops has posed:
"Good recap."

And suddenly, Scott is being dropped from above! He shifts his body position, making it as such that he's in a dead dive, like he had just jumped out of an airplane. His eyes narrow behind those visors as he descends rapidly towards that final Sentinel.

As he draws nearer, he takes his visor off....

and a MASSIVE beam of red energy, concussive as though it may be, comes straight for that Sentinel and from forehead to crotch, cuts the Sentinel completely in half! The sides of the mechanical abomination fall to their ways, but Scott keeps the energy beam going, using the concussive force to slow his descent until it's as though he's just floating down and eventually, he closes his eyes and puts his visor on his face, landing on the ground in a crouch once he's made it to a safe enough decline.

"Target destroyed."
