- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
The evening was quiet, and ended up early. But the next day, Kinsey gave Logan a decent breakfast, and a coffee, and suggested they go for a hike.
"I figure, if we head towards water - there is water around, isn't there? We could catch supper?"
Kinsey can't help it. She couldn't just have a hike with no ulterior motive. She has to have a purpose. Ergo, the fishing for dinner. It's not that she counts on them catching. But the attempt is important.
Whereas Logan has lots of bacon, Kinsey does not. She's not entirely a vegetarian, but she does watch the amount of meat and meat products that she eats. Of course, she snags a bit of bacon as she plots out the day.
"Would we like to have the fish on an open fire where we caught.. or?" Kinsey believes that if you believe, it will come. Well, to a certain extent. She is hopeful, though. And Hope is her super power.
- Wolverine has posed:
Logan works on the coffee, slow pulls from it. His eyes close. The warmth running down his throat. "Yep. We can head there," Logan says honestly. His eyes focused for a moment.
"Depends on how hungry ya are n' how quick ya want food?" Logan asks honestly. His ocean blue focus for a moment. "Do ya want to have somethin' on on open fire or in a pan?" he asks looking at her. It's a serious question.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
A smile begins to blossom on Kinsey's face. "In truth? I'd actually have a day where we could sleep under the stars. The stars are hard to see in New York with the light pollution. And working in space is quite different."
Her cup of coffee is held two-handed.
"When I was young, I got to go to a camp for underprivileged youth. I argued with my mother, saying I wasn't underprivileged, and someone more needy than me should take my place. We argued. My mother won. I was so glad that she won. Those were amongst the most favourite memories of my childhood."
She looks sad for a moment.
"I only have one firm memory of my father. We were on the fire escape, and I was in his arms. He was showing me the constellations. It was a clear, clear day. And my father pointed out one star, and strangely he looked sad. As though that star was very important. He said, 'Remember that star. Always. If ever you want to remember me, gaze on that star..'"
Kinsey, sighed, and shook her head. "I would like to see if I can see that star again."
- Wolverine has posed:
"I got campin' gear back at the cabin. We' need some blankets n' similar, but easy to set up shop somewhere," that's an easy enough request. Not that different or strange really. "What else?" he asks.
A few nods come from Logan, "What did ya do?" he's trying to figure if it was like Summer Camp, Camping, Glamping, or some kind of combo. Then he notices that sad moment. Nothing is pressed. He just waits for Kinsey to speak.
"What was the star?" Logan's a little suspicious. He'll think nothing of it, if that star is the North Star. Any other star, will cause him to question a few things. He will watch her for a moment.
"We can look fer the star, but anythin' stand out 'bout it? I can point out Orion's Belt n' a few simple constellations. Outside of them, I'm useless to ya when it comes to star gazin'," just honesty there.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Marshmallows?" He did say anything.
"I'll bow to your expertise." It's not like she was incompetent, but Logan was the expert. "Summer camp. Cabins without heat. A lake. Arts and crafts. Archery. Canoes. Fireside singalong. The usual. I was only picked to go the one time. I think the administration tried to spread the wealth around."
Kinsey peered over her coffee. "I was only four? And my father was gone by the fall.Funny. I started kindergarten and at the same time I mourned him. I loved my mother. But.. there was something about my father. We were like soulmates. Not in a romantic way. He used to point out to me plants that would grow on the sidewalks. Bugs. He was always reading about them."
"I didn't understand why he left us. I thought my parents were happy together. But that could have been my age. My mother never said things about him like most divorced parents. After a time, I thought he might contact me. He never did. After a time, I believed he was happy somewhere else. But a part of me thought he was dead."
- Wolverine has posed:
"I'd have to go into town," Logan says about the marshmallwos, but completely doable. Thenhe looks at her, just listening to the story for a bit. He'll nod a bit.
"Alright. I can make sure it's set up," Logan speaks firmly on that. Then the talk about Dad comes forward. Then he just listens and gives a nod a bit.
"Like ya guys were cut from the same cloth," he gives a soft yet brief smile. It's sweet. Something he won't say mucha bout. His gaze just rests and the eyes narrow a little when it comes to talk about parents. How things go in the divorce, something feels off, he doesn't know what. His first guest? SHIELD agent.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Exactly!" Kinsey is thankful she doesn't have to explain.
Even though she has heard of SHIELD, till now she hasn't had an opportunity to work with them. He thoughts on her father don't reach them at all. Being so young, and the time his leaving, she wouldn't have put two and two together and come up with four.
"If you go to town.. Actually, can I go, too?"
- Wolverine has posed:
"I can take ya. It's kinda small, but I can give ya a simple tour." Logan says honestly as he looks at her. Those ocean blues just rest on her for a moment. "Whenever ya wanna go?"
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey takes a swig of her coffee, and puts the mug in the sink. "Right now?" She smirks. Of course he might not be done eating yet!
- Wolverine has posed:
A nod comes from Logan. "Need to get ready?" hea sks making sure there's nothing she needs to grab. "We'll leave in five if yer not ready," he'll bring the coffee to his lips to take antoher drink.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"I'll just go to the little girl's room, and I will meet you at the truck."
As Kinsey passes by Logan, she pecks him on the cheek, and winks. "Just a prequel for later."
- Wolverine has posed:
Logan will raise a brow as the cheek kiss comes. He watches her intently for a moment. Both arms cross as he looks then moves to the outside going to the jeep.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
In exactly five minutes, Kinsey meets Logan at the Jeep.
"Do they sell liquor?" In the States you can quite often buy beer and liquor at the corner store. "I was thinking we can get some drinks to go with the fish." She clambers up into the passenger seat, and buckles in.
Really, she hasn't got anything that she wants in the town. She does like the company, though.
- Wolverine has posed:
"Yeah. They do," Logan gives a nod. The town is actually kind of small. It takes a little bit of time to get to. Go througha trail, make it to a main road, hang a right. Then it's a drive down for a little bit where there's a gas station on one side of the road, a body shop on the other, and a left turn will take them to a simple diner and a grocer store that's a weird grocery store, party store/corner store hybrid.
It's bigger than a party store, smaller than a grocer store, but a decent selection of the grocer store. He'll stop the jeep when they're at the market. They got everything from liquor to meats to ice cream to anything else. It would be easy to get anything for dinner.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey is adamant they are going to catch fish for supper. "So the meat is taken care of. What else should we stock up on?"
Wandering around the store she notices that, indeed, the store is pretty good - better than many bodegas at home! Then again, the people who live up here all year round depend on a variety of certain things.
In the back corner she found movies - old movies to be certain. Looking them over she found three that made her smile: The Last Starfighter; The Princess Bride; and Ladyhawk - which she paid for herself.
"Got everything?"
- Wolverine has posed:
"Well, it's fish. Lemon. Maybe some potatoes or somethin'. Depends on what else yer in the mood for," Logan looks back at her. "They live here all year 'round, but places further out will keep em' stocked fer a bit. This place helps the day to day n' other things like it," he looks about the place grabbing some beer. He'll grab some bread, just something simple, a little butter, too. Lastly, he'll snag an herb or two.
"I think so. How 'bout you?" he'll set things up and wait for her to do the same, unless she already paid for it all. Eitehr way, he'll pay for whatever she doesn't.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Scotch? It's my guilty pleasure." Kinsey, indeed, loves her scotch. And what a good excuse to try some local Scotch. Canada does have some of the best Scotch in the world. "Everything else I paid for."
She wants to surprise him with the movies, and on the off chance he doesn't like them, she does!! They remind her of being a teenager.
- Wolverine has posed:
Logan will ask for a bottle of scotch, whichd oes get paid for. Then they go back to the Cabin. "So, ya got options. We can catch the fish n' cook it there or come back here. Less things to haul that way, but we can always just haul more n' go out to the wilderness. Well, further. Ain't like there's much light polution here," he says honestly. The ball in her court for a moment.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Oh, there." Kinsey is firm on that. "I thought we could camp overnight?" The better to see the stars with.
- Wolverine has posed:
"We can. Just means gotta bring extra gear, but easy enough. Plus, extra blankets even if we only use one tent," he looks back at her making sure it's okay. Some people may not like that.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey chuckles. "There is no need for a second tent." Even if she wasn't thinking about sleeping with him. She does take a moment, though, and does appreciate his courtly manner. If she wanted a second tent, she had no doubt he would make it happen. She wasn't used to this manner of male. And she liked it!
"What else will we be needing? We should divvy up the load before we get going. I know we need fishing gear. Bedrolls. Oh. It will be cold." Even though it was a mild fall, the nights were still frigid.
Now Kinsey takes her turn at being courtly, and leaves it up to Logan how they will tackle the cold overnight.
- Wolverine has posed:
"Food, blankets, tent, pillows. Anything like that," he says looking at her for a moment and he shakes his head. "Don't need to take all the load darlin'," he says softly looking back to her for a moment. A smirk plays on his lips. Yes, he likes it. She's willing to get her hands dirty.
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
She smiles at him the same way.
"Let us be frank. I'm not your average female. My mother taught me to give as much as a man. She said when all was said and done, we were just people, and sometimes I would need help. and sometimes you would need my help. It's done me quite fine so far. So, if you are expecting a fairy princess to be fawned over, you won't find it here."
"But," Kinsey followed this statement up. "If you are looking for a partner, I'm your woman."
- Wolverine has posed:
"I know ya ain't the average woman. And I am willin' to take the help. Yer still a guest. So, sometimes hospitality n' my trust in ya clash a little. I trust ya to do the work, but the host," and he points it out that he trusts her. Just he's conflicted about workload and stuff. However, he will nod to the partner comment
- Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
A laugh escapes her. "So what you are saying, is, if I take you up to the Mackenzie Space Station, it will be my turn to have the bigger load?" Kinsey nods. "Okay then. Now that we have that out of the way, perhaps you can tell me what you are going to allow me to carry. And I will try not to argue very much."
Her laughter is just beneath the surface, threatening to come out.
- Wolverine has posed:
"Alright, smart ass," Logan chuckles a little bit. She had him on that one. Still, this is looking to be a good camping trip so far.
