- Superman has posed:
The Ace of Clubs, it's a metropolis bar that looks like a dive on the outside. On the inside the place is warm, homey, with lots of light colored wood tables, chairs and wall. It's somewhat close to the Daily Planet.
Often, the Ace of Clubs is a second home for Planet Staffers, especially on a Friday Night. And that's where Clark finds himself. He's trying not to drink. Happy to be a D.D. that pays for rounds. Clark is at the bar paying for another round.
Coworkers are two tables pushed together. There's a few appetizers being split, a couple of staffers have a drink, or two, in them. It's been a hard week for everyone.
- Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane is fashionably late. Which for her is usually right on time. Just coming off of finishing her latest story - getting it in just in time for press print - and now she's ready to relax the night away. Enter the weekend with a fresh outlook. Finding everyone is easy, sidling up to them is...doable. She'll mingle a moment or two, share a story and a little food. Then, she'll head over to the bar where Clark is standing.
"Gin and tonic, twist of lime." She'll speak to the bartender and then motions. "On his bill." To Clark with a sly grin on her face. Is it still only gossip that the two are an item, or do people know officially? Hard to say perhaps. Except she does shift a closer hand to nudge against him in a subtle fashion. "How's your day been, Smallville?"
- Superman has posed:
Clark smirks, "Hers, too," he says and then gives a nod. People will notice the two of them getting closer. How they spend more time together. Maybe a stay, or two, that last a while in an office or conference room with the blinds drawn. Hard to say when people start to put clues together, but they do.
"How was the story?" Clark asks and then he shrugs when it comes to his day. "Better with you in it," and then he waits to see if his grenadine and coke gets brought over. Again, he's the D.D. complete with a wrist band to prove it.
- Lois Lane has posed:
"You would think I would become callous to the way that some millionaires live their lives, swindle their money and discourage the public... but I'm not. It seems to hurt every time. The hardest part is not putting emotion into the story as I write it.." Lois offers. "Sometimes I don't think I do a good enough job of that. Leak some emotion in..." Admitting that and then she smiles. "You flatter me, Kent. Can we just stand here a moment and pretend like our co-workers aren't behind us and we aren't here to save face at some end of week jackoff meeting?"
- Superman has posed:
"I know that's hard. You need to be factual, but you can tilt it a little," that's the hard line to stradle. "I think you do better than you think," and then he shakes his head. "We are out of work. Technically," Clark reminds her.
Then the drinks to the table come. Clark goes to grab a few of them to take the drinks to those waiting for them. Just simple thing. He looks back to Lois for a moment.
- Lois Lane has posed:
Yes. They are out of work. But they aren't away from prying eyes. Still, as drinks are served - including her own - Lois will turn and walk back over to the tables a few steps behind Clark. "Well. Here's to another successful week... Onwards and upwards as they say." Then she smiles, sips her drink and shifts to slide into an empty seat. At the end of the table. A little out of the way.
Course, people likely think things about Lois. How she's not very social, more focused on the story than those she works with. She can't help it. Starting from nothing to get to the top and trying to stay there does something to a person. Still. She's trying.
- Superman has posed:
Lois walks to the group and there's cheers with drinks held high. Not quite a toast, but a hearty agreement. "How the story go, Lane?!" Steve Lombardi asks? He's the planet's resident sports guy. He's a bit loud, even louder with a drink or two in him. Although, he means well enough.
"Dish dish dish," Cat Grant prods a few seconds later. Grant is the planet's gossip monger. She can be a real cuthrough when she wishes.
- Lois Lane has posed:
"Went well enough. I suppose we'll see how it all falls come weekend print. Another millionaire biting off more than they can chew and letting the public take the scraps." She smirks then. "Lintwell won't have a leg to stand on once I'm done with him." Meaning Marcus Lintwell. A man known for his day trading and is now on the chopping block for data mining more than half of his clientele.
- Superman has posed:
"Trying to bag another award?" Lombardi asks. Most writers are the table like their awards. Sometimes they can get a feeling when they go trophy. So, it's common for them to ask when someone's trying to go in for an awawrd.
Eventually Clark sits down with his drink and takes a few sips.
Cat chimes in, "So, how long have you and Lois..." the voice trails as the gossip puts that out there.
Clark just drinks his beverage for a moment. Lois may have a different reaction.
- Lois Lane has posed:
"I wouldn't mind another Pulitzer." Lois offers with a grin. "But, for me, it's never about the awards. It's about the story. Getting the truth out to the public." Which sounds noble enough on paper, but it's also why Lois will do almost anything for the headline.
When Cat asks that question, her eyes widen just a smidge, she glances to Clark and then away just as quickly. "What makes you think there's anything between us?" Though depending on how Clark feels about them being public, may change how he reacts to her reacting.
Or maybe he shouldn't worry and she just wants to know what the others are thinking.
- Superman has posed:
Clark pauses a moment, "A while," and he keeps it nebulous like that, allowing Lois to serve up a follow up. "Assure you anything personal happened was off the clock," and he leaves it there. It's not a lie. Other questions he may not be able to be so transparent without causing embarassment. Then he takes an awkwardly long sip of his drink. Oh, he just waits for Lois's reaction with most of the table.
- Lois Lane has posed:
The table might erupt a bit with more questions, speculations, and other things like that. Lois just shakes her head - trying to deflect most. "You never know when you're going to meet someone who can fit into your life. Clark just happens to fit into mine." Is what she says and then she downs the rest of her drink and stands. "Anyway. I'm off to get some stuff done at home. You all take care."
- Superman has posed:
Clark gives a Lois a look trying to read her mood. He gives her a soft smile. "I'm happiest I've ever been," he adds. Trying to just show that Lois is a joy to be with in this capacity. Taking a sip of the drink he gives a wave to Lois. "See you very soon?" he asks her, curious if she would welcome his presnece or not.
- Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane will give some...sort of answer...to Clark. In a sort of thumbs up, yes please kind of way. He'll also get a text from her after she leaves the club. <Sorry. I hope to see you very soon, yes. Love you.> But all in all she's disappeared into the night like a bat into a cave.
