Description:

Clark Kent: About six feet tall, Clark is the very stature of human nerddom. He slumps with an apparent lack of confidence that comes from seeming to shy away everything around him, and his apparently unpowerful build moves with controlled clumsiness. His skin is warmly tanned, his hair is the black of deep space, and his eyes the crystalline blue of the heart of a glacier, at least one might guess. His glasses dull the color. There is something utterly human about the man he is and it makes him appear unassuming and harmless. Over his body is a suit, unfashionably cut, and off the rack. Upon the chest is a slightly worn tie. A belt of the same color as his shoes wraps about his narrow waist just above his hips. Brown scuffed dress shoes cover his feet, and a brown fedora often covers his slightly messy hair.

Superman: At just over six feet tall, Superman is the very stature of human perfection. He stands tall and proud with an easy confidence that comes from being neigh invulnerable to everything around him. Yet his powerful build moves with controlled precision. His skin is warmly tanned, his hair is the black of deep space, and his eyes the crystalline blue of the heart of a glacier. There is something utterly inhuman about how beautiful of a man he is and it makes him appear ageless, some moments as young as twenty while the next minute a graceful not-greying fifty. Over his body is a suit the same blue of his eyes. Upon the chest is the stylized 'S' looking symbol of red and golden yellow. A belt of the same color scheme wraps about his narrow waist just above his hips and the infamous outteroos. Red boots cover his feet, and a red cape flows from his shoulders nearly to the ground.

History

History:

This isn't really a story I can tell a lot of people. I've told parts of it to different people over the years, but never really enough for any of them to put it all together. I've told a reporter, and thus the world, that I'm not from this planet. I'm from Krypton. The planet is gone. The star it orbitted was mined for resources and finally went nova. I was sent to this planet as a child, as a refugee, an orphan... And because I would have great power here. I grew up in Smallville. It's a... no pun intended... It's a small town in Kansas. I lived on a farm as a boy. I was a farmboy. Like my parents, the ones that raised me, I'm Methodist. This is the ethical code I fall back on when questions arise in my life, and it is the saying I was taught came from the church's founder John Wesley that shapes my choices: " Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can." Mom was a big part of the reason I started heroing, truth be told. And she helped me create the suit I wear to this day. Well, the look of it. Since that first day, I've had the Fortress create me suits. But I think Mom enjoyed sewing me all the different outfits we tried until we settled on the blue and red. I never had sisters and I think this was as close to making a prom dress as she was ever going to get. When I finished high school, my parents showed me the spaceship I arrived in and I took a gap year to learn about my birth planet and my birth parents. I ended up with a Kryptonian fortress made of silicate crystals and the realization that I could help nearly the whole of the world with the things that I could do. So, I went to school for Communication Journalism and graduated from university without any notoriety to my name of Kent. I didn't need the extra attention, not as I was looking to get a job in the most well connected news affiliate I had ever heard of: The Daily Planet. It's been a struggle, though with time and routine, it's been getting easier, balancing my life and work at the Planet with my life and work for The planet. Somehow, and really only Mom knows a bit of the strain a double life has caused my life, I'm made some great friends and gained amazing colleagues both in and out of the cape. So far, the biggest thing I'm proud of has been the formation of the Justice League, even if sometimes I don't feel prepared to lead a group of such incredible individuals. After all, I was never in student council. I don't know how to lead. I just try to set an example by being the best version of me in the cape that I possibly can. God will have to tend to the rest. -- Delete file? Y/N:

Personality

Personality:

Superman is Superman because of how he was raised. He is as humble as he is strong, though he takes great pride in a job well done. Owing to his strength, his first course of action is to attempt dipolmacy before moving to physical altercations. Though capable of great destruction, he measures himself by the restraint that he shows and by the lives he saves. He will nearly always give someone a second chance as giving up on someone feels like heartbeat. None of this comes without a price, and like Atlas, the weight of the world rests upon his heart. Clark stalwartly refuses to shrug.

Abilities

Flight:
Clark can fly. Er.. I mean, Kal El, the kryptonian known as Superman, can fly. He doesn't know the how of it, or the scientific explanation. All he knows is that with a thought he can tell gravity to take a hike. He's never tested how fast he can go, but it's more than fast enough to outpace a speeding bullet and traverse the globe. Oh, and he can fly in space. (Nerd Moment: Super cool!)

Heat Vision:
He projects beams of red hot light from his eyes, lasers really. The bright red beams with sizzling white-blue edges can cut through incredibly strong materials with ease. In addition, he can use this vision to weld things back together. He can control the temperature of the beams, thereby effecting the color and the width of the beam. The lower and more gentle the temperature, perfect for say drying someone soaked to the bone by a sudden rain shower, the wider the area of effect and more sharply shifted toward the infrared the color of the beam grows thus rendering it invisible to the normal human eye. The hotter and more intense the heat, the more blue shifted the light grows and the more narrow and thin the beams become. He has a range of several hundred feet with perfect accuracy, and can do more basic work up to a mile distance.

Invulnerability:
Superman is nigh invulnerable. Bullets bounce off him. The sharpest blades don't pierce his skin. Extreme temperatures don't phase him. Not when he can take a cat nap in the surface plasma of the Sun and wake up feeling warm and refreshed.

Kryptonian:
All Kryptonians absorb solar radiation. Kal El, Clark, Superman is no different. (Nerd Moment: I'm a plant.) The radiation spectrum of a main sequence yellow GV star, like Sol, fuels the great powers Kal displays. Like a battery, the more radiation in his system the stronger he has the potential to become. This solar absorption means he doesn't need to eat food the way a standard human does.

Longevity:
So long as there is the radiation of a yellow GV class star, Kal El is effectively ageless growing no older than the 20 or 30 something that he appears to be. Not that he's lived long enough to realize this just yet.

Speed:
Superman is fast, super fast. While he has never been able to get an accurate measurement of his top speed within Earth's atmosphere (mostly owing to the fact that his top speed exceeds escape velocity), he knows that he is capable of keep pace with most of the speedsters in the world both on foot and in the air. (Although he just feels faster when he's flying.) His super human speed extends to his mental abilities as well, and his processing speed matches the speed at which he is travelling physcially.

Strength:
Among the most physically powerful creatures in the universe, Kal El is strong enough to move planets. He can crush coal into diamon with his hands and lift tanks and planes over his head with ease. Said vehicles may not like being hefted like deadweights.

Super Breath:
Kal can blow well. From hurricane force winds to subzero gales that can put the freeze on things. This (Nerd Moment!) breath-attack can't be sustained indefinately as it is limited to his lung capacity... which given his super nature is super large.

Super Senses:

Kal's senses are above that of any normal human. He can hear conversations while floating above the stratosphere, he can see far away or the very small or even through things! His keen sense of taste is the envy of wine-tasters and chefs the world over (or would be if they knew of it, thus making Superman a Supertaster. It is totally a thing. Google it.). He can feel minute changes in things and he can smell far better than the best bloodhound.

Skills

Acting:
Superman doesn't wear a mask. His face is well-known the world over. So, to hide who he is, he has to rely on a different type of mask: Misdirection. Alter his voice a little bit, slump his shoulders, don't smile as wide, have a slightly different personality and BAM! One secret identity in the bag. The glasses are a prop.

Cowboy:
Yes. I know. Superman can fly. But it's hard to herd cattle with a team and not blow your cover. So, Clark, on top of being a good ol' farm boy, can also ride horses well enough to help herd cattle and other farm-hand duties that need a horse. No, he is not a champion roper. Yes, he can beat any hog-tying world record. No, he will not be doing that ever.

Farming:
Clark was raised on a farm, and while he wasn't born in a barn, he knows a thing or two about the care of livestock and the tending of fields of crops, specifically corn. He might have been in FFA when he was in high school.

Mechanic:
He's not amazing at it, but being able to look through an engine block to see what's broken and then being able to lift the whole thing out of the car is certainly helpful when tinkering on the old truck out in the barn.

Polyglot:
Clark speaks, reads, and writes American English as a native. He can speak the following languages fluently: Mandarin, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Farsi, and Boswanese. He can read, write, and speak Kryptonian fluently.

Reporting:

Clark Kent is a skiled investigative reporter. Though not as naturally creative and intuitive as a human, his kryptonian abilities allow him to see and hear things that help. He also knows how to use search functions to locate information. Being able to read faster than any normal human makes his research go faster. Clark is also very good with the written word.

Resources

Fame:
To say that Superman is well known is a gross underestimation. There are few places on the planet that don't recognize him, the color of his suit, or the stylized S on his chest.

Fortress:
The Fortress of Solitude is a crystal structure in one of the most inhospitable and remote locations on Earth. Inside is everything Kal El would need to live alone. There's even a zoo of some Kryptonian flora and fauna. The Fortress computers can access and interface with human systems allowing Kal El to have access to anything on the internet from the comfort of this crystal palace. The fortress has a fabrication unit perfect for making new uniforms and the like. While he's away, the fortress is maintained and protected by Seven, a robot connected to the AI of the fortress, a small part of the Brainiac AI. Among the data crystals in his pod were the memory crystals of his birth parents, whom the fortress renders as semi-sentient holograms that he can speak to, learn from, and interact with in a limited capacity.

Jl:
Superman is a founding member of the Justice League, and is the current leader. He can call on them for aid, and has access to the various league benefits, from the Hall of Justice, to the Watchtower, to the communications systems. His role as League Leader carries the expectations of being a member in Good Standing, as well as it's Public Representative.

Job:
Clark is an investigative journalist at the Daily Planet. He is fairly known in the field, but he is not world-famous or anything. It is a stable job that allows him to poke his nose into various illicit things without drawing attention to his alternate persona. It also pays... though not well. He lives in an apartment that is on the smaller side, though he is not impoverished. He is just far from wealthy... and he likes it that way.

Super Family:
As more and more kryptonians (and clones?!) wiggle out of the wood work, Superman finds himself with a slowly growing family of other kryptonians. Like any family, they don't always get along, see eye to eye or even like each other, but family is family nonetheless.

The Kents:

His parents live in Smallville, Kansas. He sometimes retreats to the Kent Farm and works there to clear his mind or retreat during tough times. His parents recently opened a general store in town as well, and he sometimes pops in to help. They know his true identity, and serve as beacons of inspiration for him.

Weaknesses

Enemies:
He has been active as Superman for awhile now... and it brings issues. There are some people and monsters out there that want to ruin or destroy him. He is constantly dealing with recurring villains.

Kryptonite:
Green: The radiation kicked off by the shattered pieces of his homeworld makes him sick, and prolonged exposure can even kill him. Red: The radiation of red kryptonite makes Kal El dangerously uninhibited and narcissistic. Gold: The radiation of this form of kryptonite over rides whatever biological part of him that takes in radiation and when these receptors are full of the gold kryptonite radiation, Kal El is unable to absorb any more until his body can flush that radiation out and refill off what is around him.

Magic:
While not vulnerable to it, magic merely ignores his invulnerability, thus affecting him as it would anyone else.

Public Figure:
Kal is known in both his heroic persona and his more mundane reporter attire. Not because they are the 'same person' but each for their own individual achievements. Clark Kent's notority is massively dwarfed by that of his alter ego, and he's okay with that.

Secret Identity:
Kal El works hard to keep the persona of Superman and the person he grew up as, Clark Kent, seperate. He's good at it and it's necessary in order to keep his family, friends, and co-workers safe from though that would try to see Superman ended, but it's tiring and often times lonely.

Solar Radiation:

Kal El needs solar radiation to fuel his powers, and pushing them and himself too hard for too long renders him powerless until he can recharge. Because of his body's natural need to absorb radiation, the spectrums of other stars do not nurish him as he needs. In particular, the wavelengths of a red star can quickly render him powerless and queasy.
