Aftermath
Date of Scene: 30 April 2017
Location: New York City
Synopsis: Summary needed.
Cast of Characters: Dragonfly (Arazello), 142

Dragonfly (Arazello) has posed:
The alien landing has brought out the best and worst of New York. Its sudden absence after speaking to a few of the local heroes amplifies both sides. The crazies with the signs are out:

    "The End is Nigh"
    "John 3:18"
    "Aliens: Don't Eat Us!"
    "Aliens: I Want Your Children"
    "Humans: The Other White Meat"

The usual. Of course the police are here, trying to control the crowd, and failing. Various federal agencies are present and seem to be engaged in an argument about who has jurisdiction. And Nancy is here, quietly slipping through gaps in various authority's attempts to keep people away and using a hand-held device that at a distance might appear to be a smartphone, but an unusually bulky one. And one that occasionally bathes targetted areas in quick bursts of multicoloured light when there's nobody looking her way to get suspicious.

Adrien Agreste (142) has posed:
The thing about New York is: No one seems to know who he is.

Loosing his body guard in Paris was frought with trouble. Here in New York, it seems like a cake walk. A designer hoodie, design jeans, but really not much more. Feeling like he's not even trying, Adrien makes his way toward Central Park, where that alien landed, to see...

..and he finds himself in the middle of Alien Crazy. It takes him a bit to work out how to slip through the crowds and then past the police line, but he's through. Really, it's about looking like you belong there.

...A model... lookin glike he belongs at an alien crash site... Yeah, no, Adrien. It's called moving around away from the blockade and coming in from a completely different part of the park.

Had no one else thought of doing this?

...Americans.

Dragonfly (Arazello) has posed:
Nancy sighs as she sees the hoodied man come into where she's finally starting to get good readings on the radiation profile.
"Just my damned luck..." she mutters to herself as she waits patiently for the guy to move on. Only ... wait. She knows that hoodie from somewhere. And that walk. Not that she was checking the walk out ever before, heaven forfend!
    "...Adrien?" she tentatively asks.

Adrien Agreste (142) has posed:
Oh lovely! Adrien's Black Cat Luck hit someone else this time!

Adrien had been looking about, hoping to seem casual when his name is called. Shoulders stiffen quickly before the model pulls on that public facade, turning toward the sound and smiling lightly at the person he sees.

"Bon jour, Mademoiselle Arazello. Good to see you again," Adrien replies, looking so completely like he's exactly where he's supposed to be and that he's really just out for a walk in the park and not up to anything at all that it's so hard to disbelieve him, isn't it? He even smiles a bit more broadly, just for good measure.

Dragonfly (Arazello) has posed:
"My, Adrien. You certainly do get around." Those words seem to echo for some reason. Nancy smiles and casually slides the device in her hand into her purse, after stealing a glance at its screen and narrowing her eyes. "Coming to see the scene of the excitement last night?" she asks.
She looks around at the terrain. "It's interesting that they chose to land here. And it's even more interesting that the soil got rather heavily compressed in a fairly large radius."

Adrien Agreste (142) has posed:
Those first words make Adrien blink. Why did they sound so familiar...? Hadn't Madame Dragonfly said those very same words to him? She doens't know.. does she?

With a sudden flicker of anxiety, Adrien grins boyishly, a hand coming up to ruff at the hair on the back of his head.

"Uh... scene? What scene? There was excitement here?"

That didn't sound half as squeaky to her as it did to him, did it?

Dragonfly (Arazello) has posed:
"You didn't hear about the alien craft landing here last night then?" Nancy says with a laugh. "You don't turn on the news, do you? Or follow anything on Facebook. Or read headlines blaring from newspapers. Or listen to what people talk about at the water cooler. Or..." Her voice trails off.
"I'm kind of here," she says, doing her leaning-forward-conspiratorial thing, "on business. I'm trying to figure out what propulsion was used; I'm an aerospace engineer, so this is of professional interest."
She gestures discretely the direction of the various feds in their screaming matches. "But I don't work for them. I work for private enterprise. It's ... well ... better to beg forgiveness than ask permission I find."
She pulls out her device again, now that she knows who she's with. "Could you let me know when the coast is clear? I have a few more scans to make before I leave."

Adrien Agreste (142) has posed:
Of course he didn't hear about it! He was there! Not that she can know that. So Adrien blinks, seeking to feign ignorance by shaking his head to each one in turn. No, he didn't hear about the alien landing. (BIG FAT LIE!) No, he didn't turn on the news. (Much easier. Not a lie. He didn't turn on the news.) No, he didn't follow anything on Faceboook ... about hte alien. He was skimming the Ladyblog. Again... (Adrien really is all sorts of pathetic, isn't he?) No, he didn't listen to people talking arund a...

"A water-.. what?" he blurts out, but that bit of confusion took nothing to bring up. It was geunine, after all. It cuts right into the start of her conspiracy, which Adrien leans into and nods, still looking confused.(about the watercooler. because what the heck was that?)

"Umm... sure...?" Yes. It's said as a question.

Dragonfly (Arazello) has posed:
Nancy takes a few final scans, staring at the display with increasing confusion. "Damn, this doesn't make sense. I'm going to have to crunch these numbers at the lab," she mutters to herself before shaking her head and snapping the device shut.
"OK, then," she says. "I'm done. It's a lovely day and I can probably fake being out here on work-related grounds for a while. Would you care to take in the sights of the park? It's actually a nice place in the daytime; you know, when the criminal element isn't out in full force, only half."

Adrien Agreste (142) has posed:
Adrien watches Nancy... and the police... and looks around the area himself. He had been hoping to chat with Plagg while he was out here but Nancy's presence makes that impossible. Oh well. Annoying Cat would probably demand more cheese anyway. The relative peace and quiet was... pleasant enough. So, when Nancy addresses him again, Adrien starts slightly.

"Ah.. er.. Yeah. Sure," he stammers a moment before composing himself, and making his way over to her.

"Half? Do you mean this park isn't mostly safe?" he asks. He's used to akuma attacks in Paris. During school hours. He's poor GPA...
