Shadowcat has posed:
It was early morning and summer was setting in Metropolis. The days were still long and hot, but tempered by unseasonable bouts of rain. It seems that the night had ended dry before an early storm moved through the area. Now the world was damp, humid and ever so slightly miserable.

This misery was especially pronounced in one Katerine "Kitty" Pryde. The young brunette was currently seated in the nearly deserted dining room of a Big Belly Burger. The establishment often teemed with young men and women from the nearby Academy of Tomorrow who had tired of campus fare. As the semester wouldn't start for another couple weeks though, it was enjoying a brief reprieve from the chaos of college life.

There was a soft groan from the girl as she slumped, faceplanted into the table she sat at, not even managing to get her hair into a pony tail before she had dragged herself into the restaraunt. Beside her was a small notebook and a steaming cup of coffee. Perhaps most curiously was her current state of dress. A pair of loose grey cotton sweats with the word "Tomorrow" printed vertically down the leg. A tank top with AoT boldly displayed on the front of a zip up hoodie with Property of Academy of Tomorrow Athletic Department on the back. In fact aside from her wedge heeled sandals, her entire outfit could be straight out of the currently closed campus store.

At the counter a disinterested teen announces, "Order 54! 541 Belly Breakfast Burrito and a Hashbrown?" No one seems to be going for it.

Hellion has posed:
"Yo!" Calls a baritone voice, following it, a young man with cobalt eyes and jet black hair. He had on a comfy pair of cargo shorts and AthLex sneakers, paired with an oh so classy crimson and gold AoT shirt.

The bag starts to levitate and follow the older teen, right next to Kitty. Helllion had raised an eyebrow to the young lady, seeing the of so obvious getup she had on, he decides to slide into a seat opposite her side of the table. "So, I guess I'm not the only one who stays almost full time at the Academy." He opens, allowing the bag to find its way to the table and set in front of her.

Shadowcat has posed:
There's no response from Kitty to the cry out in response to the food. Not a whisper of movement in reply to the person sitting opposite of her. Finally there's a sigh and Kitty raises a rather sad looking face (complete with table top indent red mark on her forehead) when someone talks about her being a full time student. "Mmmmnot a student," Kitty sighs out softly.
The bleary eyed teen considers Julian carefully before she slowly reaches over and carefully picks up her insulated cup. There's a small sip and a wince at the heat. "Just visiting, I didn't," Kitty has the cutest confused look on her face as she tries to reconstruct the previous night. "Didn't have anything to change into," another sip of coffee and the girl whines a little as the scalding fluid touches her lips.

She sucks slightly on the damaged portion of her person for a moment before she offers up a small wave, "Hi, person who sat at my table."

Hellion has posed:
Those cobalt eyes look over the young lady, a playful scoff follows. "Well hell, that's a real shame." He offers, looking into the bag and out slides the hash brown, floating curiously in front of the young man. He reaches out, and grabs it, taking a bite. "Now...that explains the outfit that screams 'School Spirit', what about the...regret? Hungover? Drugs? Hangover -and- drugs?" Obviously kidding on the drugs part, maybe not so much the hangover?

He takes another bite, swallowing before he continues. "Hi, person I sat in front of. Julian Keller, permanent resident of the Academy of Tomorrow." He offers, a waver in his voice at the Academy like some propaganda video for the joint, obvious teenage sarcastic humor.

Shadowcat has posed:
"Thanks," Kitty offers, still eyeing her coffee suspiciously, like it might bite her. "I think you meant that to be sweet." Then Julian asks the brunette about her late night regrets, her face becomes more and more aghast at each suggestion. It colors as she responds with a "No, no, no! I would," her voice dips as she murmurs, "never do anything like that. I just had a rought night."

Kitty continues to explain, "Ms. Frost was giving a friend and I a tour of the campus and I think I had a bad reaction to the dinner. I couldn't go home and so I got to crash at the campus and then all my clothes were gross so I needed some stuff and Ms. Frost let me get some things that were in storage."

Kitty considers the floaty hashbrown of freakiness. After finally concluding that it wasn't some aftereffect or a hallucination she briefly considered freaking out and running away. After a moment though the headache and lack of energy won over. Instead a small forced smile and she offers up her hand and says sweetly, "Hi, I'm Kitty, Kitty Pryde. Nice to meet you."

Hellion has posed:
"Likewise, and that was mostly a joke Kitty, Kitty Pryde. But hey, Metropolis is a lively city. Almost beats L.A., almost. You wouldn't have been the first of us to walk in here regretting the night before."

Julian finishes off that ghostly floating hashbrown of his before it causes any more distress, opting to pick up the Belly Breakfast Burrito instead. "Oh, well at least there's that. Miss Frost is well equipped to handle most emergencies."

"Now, other than a bad reaction to food, what did you think of the place?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty simply sticks out her tongue a little at the tease about her name. She mmmms and goes back to delicious, life giving coffee to chase away the blehs while Julian talks. "Wouldn't know, I'm from New York at the moment, before that Illinois. So basically every place is more interesting than where I started." She tries another smile before just giving up and accepting the morning grumps for the moment.

As to the comment about Ms. Frost being well equipped to handle situations there's a snarky comment to be sure. It's completely inaudible but the little headsnap makes her intent clear. When she comes back to her opinion on the campus though, she pauses.

More small sips of black goodness before she shrugs and says, "It's nice? Old on the outside, hightech on the inside. Quiet right now. Just not sure how I would feel about going there. Ms. Frost can be really nice and really creepy at the same time."

Hellion has posed:
Morning grumps were not uncommon here, usually they were Julian's grumps too. Though today was a bit of a refreshing difference. "She sees things in people. Like an artist with clay, and her school puts out the best of the best. She doesn't waste time with losers, so if she's trying to get you to go in, there's gotta be some reason for it." Julian wasn't one for big speeches, but he did have a reason to have made this place his home, other than the fact his parents shipped him off as the black sheep.

Shadowcat has posed:
"Nobody is a loser," Kitty admonishes. Considering Julian again she frowns and sips her drink with a sigh, then a few actual adult gulps. Finally focusing bleary eyes on him she frowns somewhat and continues to lecture. "It's just that not everyone responds to the same situation in the same way, and that's a good thing. Some are more aggressive, others just need time to come around. Everybody has value." She concludes and nods, apparently considering this quite deep, especially for how she feels at the moment. Sliding out of the booth she stands with a remarkable amount of equilibrium and announces, "I'm heading back to campus, did you want to come?"

Hellion has posed:
"Tell that to my folks." He quips, but doesn't divulge any further. As he watches Kitty get out of the table, Julian follows suit. He'd finish eating on the way back. "Sure." He offers, throwing the bag out in the trash.

Shadowcat has posed:
With as much dignity as she can muster, Kitty makes the slow walk back to the campus. With a cup of coffee in one hand and the other busily trying to control her crazy hair, hse gamely tries to hold up a conversation with Julian as the two disappear back into the dark depths of the Academy of Tomorrow!
