Cast of Characters: Cyclops, Beast

Cyclops has posed:
School had started around Xavier's, and while the school had been a veritable circus of new students, and veteran students making their way to their different classes, Scott had found it to be quite docile compared to others. The Geometry teacher had carried his lessons with him for now, making his way towards the second level of the mansion.

"Slow down, Billy. I don't want to see you in the wellness center cause you crashed into someone." He warns a student, smiling lightly afterward. He was a bit of a stickler for the rules, but it was things like this that made his other job worthwhile.

Beast has posed:
Some faculty find it a bit easier to by pass the semi-crowded halls then others. Loping upside down from the occasional rafter or reinforced light fixture by his prehensile feet, Hank "The Beast" McCoy observes the students below... and has to side step one or two of them who have found the ceiling as easy to navigate as he has. "Jennifer! Martin! What have I told yo about ceiling walking? It is a privailedge /earned/, not a right /given/." he points out, making the pair (one with gecko hands and feet and teh othr with gravity reversing abilities) look chastened. Once they are back among thethrog below, Hank nods with a smile and readjusts his spectacles (held onto is head with a band.)

"Yes indeed.. It looks like the beginning of another good year." he intones and then drops to teh floor as the last of the students muster into their classes.. Leavng just him and.. "Ah, Scott! There you are? No class to teach this period?" he asks as he pulls the small tablet from his pocket and thumbs it on.

Cyclops has posed:
Hearing the blue furred Beast above him, the bespectacled Mutant below looks up, observing. Once Hank drops down to the floor, Scott offers a smile. "No, this is my planning period." He offers, which actually meant he had time to change and put some coveralls on before his Auto Shop class. "And what about you, Hank?" He offers, keeping his focus on his old friend.

Beast has posed:
Hank 'flips' through is schedule, not that he has to because he doesn't really forget things.. It just looks more "scholarly' to go through notes. "I do not have a class until last period. Freshman Chemistry..." he says "Then Senior Biology after that.." He tucks the tablet under his arm and falls in stride beside his friend.. a spring in his feline-like step.

"Can you feel it, Scott?" he asks, breathin it in deeply. "So much /life/ in these halls. So much /potential/. Remember when it was just.. well, us?" he chuckles. "It is intensely invigorating to see those old halls full of children. Full of a /future/."

Cyclops has posed:
"The five of us, and the Professor." Scott says, smiling, he had fond memories of those days. Cyclops continues down the hall, towards the meeting hall. "I can't say I would trade those days for these...but I do remember them with pride." He offered, opening the door for Hank, and making his way inside. "Though we always get our fair share of troublemakers..." He offers, remembering the two girls who came home on a magic portal from Bludhaven. "That Tabitha...she knows how to buck authority."

Beast has posed:
Hank follows stops just outside the meeting hall and grins at Scott, shaking his head. "She does, doesn't she? She reminds me of Bobby, sometimes, though more caustic." he jests, then sighs. "We were ever so young? I know it wasn't /that/ long ago, my friend, but it seems so much longer than it has been. We live busy lives.. It distorts the sense of time.. Well that and the occasional bout of Time Travel." he says with a snort.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott only gives a chuckle. "We were Hank, but we grew up. I'm sure the Professor has more than a few stories about our exploits from his own perspective." The Geometry teacher offers before setting down his books. "Well, a lot can happen in ten years...has it really been that long? How old is Bobby now?" He remembered that Iceman was the youngest of their original class, so he'd always just remember from how old Bobby was.

Beast has posed:
Hank snorts again. "Bobby is old enough to know better and young enough to still not care.." he says, though in a warm fashion. Bobby is his friend after all. His brother, even. An irritating YOUNGER brother but...

He then sighs and looks down the now quiet hall behind them.. the students in their classes. "I want these childen to grow up, Scott. But not as fast as we had too." he lowers his voice a little now. "I do not, nor ever will, regret the things we had to do.. being X-Men.. But this school... it isn't about being X-Men.. or the next generation /of/ X-men. It's about raising a generation that, hopefully, won't NEED X-Men. Scientists.. Writers... Politicians.. Doctors.. Artists.. Not more superheroes. Is that.. Is that an unrealistic wish?" he asks.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott put on a very subtle smile at the notion. He wanted nothing but that for these students. But he also knew better. "Some of them will, some of them will learn control and never use their powers again but then...some of them will want to follow in our steps. And as much as I don't want them to, some of them seem...almost destined for it. And that is why I make sure they are as prepared as they can be for what's out there..."

Scott's glasses flare just a little bit, he was known for being a taskmaster with the New Mutants, but as hard as he is, he knew out there is much worse.

Beast has posed:
Hank knows that as well.. He's known it since the day he first met Scott and the others.. The day, as a young prodigy in college when he was outed as a mutant and in a panic tried to cure himself.. and made it worse.

A day that, even now, he would never change despite the hardships.

"No Scott.." he says, resting a hand on his old friend's shoulder. "Not 'I'... /We/. We will prepare them, one way or another, for the future. But.. lets try to keep a few of them out of spandex and get them into Scrubs, okay?" he half jests. "The world could use a few high profile mutant doctors.."
