Cast of Characters: Starr, Gravitas

Starr has posed:
With her bag slung over her shoulder, ELycia walks out of the Manhattan School of Music with a decent sheen of sweat on her, but a radiant smile. "that was a great rehearsal guys! We're sure to knock them dead at the Jay-Z concert!" She then laughs as she humms her way up the street, bouncing on her feet to a merry tune that's in her head.

Of course, one can't ignore Manhattan at all. There's lots of other people here....and traffic. Oh my god traffic.

Gravitas has posed:
Tori has been practicing small manipulations. Emphasis on small. Right now she is practicing her skating, moving at speeds far too fast for the light kick she gave. Maybe reducing the effect of gravity on herself when on wheel was a bad idea... The girl is zooming along, only her natural skill and balance preventing her from rocketing tragicomically into passersby. She waves her arms a bit to stay steady.

"Woah...! Sorry!" The girl's voice squeaks slightly, though it is mostly a firm, rich mezzo soprano. Now she is on a direct course toward Elycia. Fortunately there is a dozen yards between them and she brakes, hard. The skates squeal as they scrape to a stop. She gains a hundred pounds in a flicker, enough to stop her dead not too far from the approaching musician. She hasn't hit anything so far...

Starr has posed:
Elycia is standing there with her arms crossed as Victoria comes to a stop right in front of her. "Must be getting used to your powers, hmm?" She says adjusting her glasses. She's a little too at ease at seeing Victoria skid to a stop there. "You.....should use a less populated area and...." She looks over Victoria's shoulder.....at people glaring at Victoria. "....where there's less people likely to throw things at you."

Gravitas has posed:
Victoria looks back at the angry people in question and smiles weakly. "...Ow! Thanks for the hot dog. Jerk." The thrown meal had started to slow a split second before she yanked it out of the air. Only the most perceptive would notice. Tori shakes her head and surveys it to ensure it's a whole, unmolested hot dog.

"You- know...?" The girl asks slowly after a second. Blue eyes snap upwards and shift to Elycia's face. Tori takes a deep breath and slowly looks around at those surrounding her. "Not quite that loud at least," she requests a bit sheepishly. Slender fingers reach up to drag through her wildly curled hair and then Victoria is biting her bottom lip. "Um. Hi." She waves lightly with her free hand. "My name is Tori."

Starr has posed:
Elycia smirks a bit. "I see a lot more than you might think, Tori." She says before shaking her hand. "Elycia. And....perhaps we could head somewhere else to have a snack." She says starting to walk. "Come on. We'll talk more there."

Gravitas has posed:
Tori's stomach rumbles. She mouths, 'how did she know?!' as if a young woman like herself isn't always hungry. Athletics and a boundless metabolism. Mystified Vitoria starts after Elycia with much more careful motions. "Okay. A snack could be good," the girl starts, attempting ot hedgeher bets slightly. "You can, um. tell me what else you saw, I guess." Scratching the back of her neck Tori follows obediently, rolling along. She'll change into real shoes before heading inside. It only takes a second.

Starr has posed:
Elycia heads into a small deli place that makes their own sandwiches. "in here. They know how to keep to themselves." She says as she orders herself a sandwich with a pickle and a soda. She even pays. "Over here." She says as she sits in a booth. "Strangely, I saw how you were moving a lot faster than most people your size would. Also saw something different happen when you tried to stop. I'm going to guess you have a bit of control over gravity...."

Gravitas has posed:
"You can totally go that fast if you kick-" Victoria catches herself and then slowly shakes her head. She's smiling a rather incandescent grin, however, white teeth a distinct contrast to her darker skin, vivid eyes, and golden hair. "Well, yeah. That was sort of an accident. Just a nudge..." She nods once, looking a bit sheepish. Tori takes a seat in the booth and glances at the counter. She is staring hard at the prices for a second. "Gravity. Right. I think that's right, anyway." She nods once, sharply. "So, um." A beat. "Do you have some kind of powers or anything like that then...? I can guarante you most people wouldn't've notced all that." There's anticipation in those blue-gray eyes while she awaits an answer.

Starr has posed:
Elycia giggles a little bit. "I know. Most people wouldn't have seen something like that." She says as she takes off her glasses. "And some people don't wear glasses when they don't need them either." She says as her glasses seem to 'digitally' disappear....and she winks at Victoria. "I don't know where your power comes from, Tori, but with those glasses, I could see it plain as day.....also where you were gonna stop."

Gravitas has posed:
"I wish I could see where I was gonna stop," Tori responds in a quiet voice, her expression one of wry amusement. "Do they come three sizes smaller?" She is quickly relaxing, taking a slow breath as she looks between Elycia and the door to the shop. A beat. "I mean, I am starting to get it now but it's, um, complicated. The trajectory an object affected by gravity takes is altered by the proximity of other objects because all objects with mass have their own gravitational field... Whatever. Figuring out how to travel with something like that is kind of, um, hard." She shrugs slowly at that, wiggling a little bit. "You, um. Made your glasses disappear. Is that... you know... witchcraft or something?" She lowers her voice slightly, not that she isn't naturally softspoken, wide eyes affixed to Elycia's.

Starr has posed:
"Witchcraft, sorcery, mysticism, wizardry....all the same thing. But, that's what this is." ELycia says as she gestures towards the disappearing glasses, which are no longer there. "Also.....it seems like you need a bit more control...something I'm learning too." She then smiles as her sandwich is brought to her....and one for Tori. "Eat up. I could hear your stomach a mile away."

Gravitas has posed:
Victoria flushes a faint pink and nods when Elycia comments on her stomach's rumbling. Announcement: skater girl needs food badly! She hesitates for a half second before reaching out and taking her sandwich. "Thank you," Tori offers earnestly before setting in. She is definitely hungry; the food disappears rather quickly. "But- yeah. I am trying to learn the ins and outs. Studying at school too? But it's so complicated. Every tiny thing changes how it works. I don't know if I can understand all of it." Tori takes a deep breath then returns to eating. "You're learning too, huh? The glasses didn't explode! Beats me so far." The smile brightens slightly at that. Tori looks Elycia over discretely then quickly returns her gaze to the woman's face.

Starr has posed:
"mmhmm." ELycia says before she wallows that particular bite of sandwich. "It's.....complicated. As much control as I'm learning, such as flying, or moving stuff with a spell, I also have to learn how much power is enough. You know how I mean. Squeeze a glass to hard and it shatters." She then smirks. "Actually, the glasses were a strange idea I had when I was walking out of a show I was doing, and.....just put them on."

Gravitas has posed:
"I wish it was that simple. Too much or too little power is easy. But you need a degree in mathematics just to figure out exactly how objects respond to one another," Victoria responds, shaking her head slowly as she does. "Three body problem? Try the twenty-seven body problem." A beat and then Tori just laughs oe more time, sighing softly as she finishes. "It's not so bad. I have a knack for figuring it out. Just needs practice, I guess... Anyway, so. Um. You found me. Whatcha gonna do now?" Tori wiggles a bit more, still smiling. "And thanks for the, um, food. I didn't realize my stomach was as loud as all that."

Starr has posed:
"That's why you head to an area where you can test that, and work on yor control." Elycia smiles. 'it's what I did." She then ponders. "I think my record for putting a paper cup, from my hand to a trash can is 182 hits....and making it into the can." She then smirks at a memory. "I used a lot of curse words the first time I used a spell...."

Gravitas has posed:
"I was mostly screaming and flailing around the first time I did anything big," Tori responds, shaking her head as she does so. "I kind of sent a bully to float twenty feet in the air for awhile..." She shrugs her left shoulder, taking another large bite of food as she does so. The sandwich is already almost gone by this point. "I thought I had the skates thing down. But, um. Well. You saw how that went." Now Victoria has a constant quiet grin, her eyes alight with mirth while she watches Elysia across the table. "So... You could've kept your secrets to yourself and just took notes. Why did you say hello?" She doesn't sound terribly skeptical. "Looking fo... A friend, or something?"

Starr has posed:
"More likely that you're looking for a friend. And someone that is going through the same that you are....sort of. I don't think I can control gravity, but then I haven't tried." ELycia finishes her sandwich up too. "But I can always have more friends, beyond the band."

Gravitas has posed:
"A friend I can tell about this mess wouldn't be bad," Victoria murmurs, nodding slowly. She licks her lips briefly and takes a deep breath, splaying her fingers against theedge of the table now. "Okay," she agrees. "You can't control gravity. What can you do?" The gil asks in a fairly cheerful voice. "I'd tell you what I can do but we'd have to find someplace really private with, well. Big stuff. To test it out and see. I have no idea, honestly."

Starr has posed:
"I said I don't know. I haven't tried. I might be able to, but the situation hasn't arisen for me to try." She then chuckles. "Lets start with the small stuff first. You know...for control. The first spell I cast....and I'm glad I was near the ocean when I did it. Was a fricken laser. Scared the absoulte crap out of me. All I saw was a bright blue light, and heard a 'BOOOOOOM'. Dropped the staff I had, cruled up into a ball and rocked myself until I calmed down."

Gravitas has posed:
"You don't know ANY of the things you can do?" Tori tilts her head but then she shrugs. "That works. You first spell was a laser. Pretty sure I can't do a laser. Which is good. I freaked pretty badly when I sent that guy to hover outside the second floor science lab for all of fourth period." She shrugs her shoulders slowly at that. "Small things are the hard ones. I keep breaking them. I mean... Sometimes? I can make them float usually but when they move... I'm glad I never tried on any animals."

Starr has posed:
Elycia Kreiger says, "I know some things." She says as she holds up her hand and her glasses reappear, where she puts them back on. "I'm just looking at control rather than outright power. Cuz.....I don't think anyone...other than maybe the Hulk, would need to be hit with that much power.""

Gravitas has posed:
"Mmm." Victoria nods slowly at that before taking a deep breath. "Yeah... For a second I could... feel... the gravitational pull of the earth once," she starts very softly. "I don't know how much of it I could actually mess with. I'm never going to try." She swallows, hard. "Control. Good."

Starr has posed:
"Try feeling gravity for a time...then gently puching on it. We'll work on it together, hmm?" Elycia then stands out of the booth. "I'll see you soon, Tori. You be careful with those powers of yours."

Gravitas has posed:
"Not the earth's gravity. No way. If I can accidentally blow up a toolbox what do you think I could do if I messed with the earth's gravity the wrong way? What about just the fields local to New York City?" Victoria shakes her head, hard, and then takes a deep breath. "Night, Elycia. I'll be careful. I promise." Then she shakes her head and glances down at her empty plate, apparently deep in thought.
