Night out
Date of Scene: 11 May 2017
Location: Central City
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: 208, Flash

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris had decided to take a long weekend and head home to Central City. She had called Barry to let him know that she was flying in, so he wouldnt be surprised really. Maybe it was a little jab at him showing up in New York without calling her to let her know. Either way, plans had been made to meet up that evening.

Iris had decided that they could meet up at Jitters and then set out from there. The brunette is dressed in a red and black dress with a pair of black heels. Normal everyday attire for the woman. Shes waiting outside given the weather is warmer.

Flash has posed:
As usual, Barry shows up about 10 minutes later than the appointed meeting time. He is running as he turns the corner, approaching Jitters quickly. Spotting Iris he calls out, "Hey. Iris! Sorry!" he slows down, coming to a stop in front go her, "Got caught up at the lab. Forgot to set the alarm."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris had started pacing a little when Barry was five minutes late. At ten minutes she was going the email on her phone. When she hears the running though she gives a soft sigh as she looks up. Just the person she was expecting to see. Theres a bit of a look up to him, debating what she was going to say. Instead, the reporter steps forward and hugs him, Its alright Barry. she chuckles.

Flash has posed:
Flash returns the hug, a foolish grin on his face. "No, seriously. I shouldn't keep a beautiful woman waiting. It's rude."

He offers his arm, "So, Iris, what did you have on your mind for tonight? Anything you had your mind set on, or is it just a 'whatever happens, happens' type of evening?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a chuckle when he tells her he shouldn't keep a beautiful woman waiting, "See, that's why I don't get upset with you sometimes. You know exactly what to say to get out of trouble." she teases him. "As for what I have my mind set on, I wanted to spend some time with you. Whatever else happens, happens." she tells him with a smile. "Anything you wanted to do?" she asks him.

Flash has posed:
Shaking his head, Barry makes his way over to the front door of Jitters and opens it for Iris, before following in after. "Not really. Things here in Central City must be pretty boring for a New York girl now. Nothing really exciting happens around here as opposed to there. Sure, the Flash is here and all, but New York has the Avengers, Spiderman and a whole bunch of others. Must see one of those costumed guys every other day by just looking up."

He grins with a shrug, "Anyway...what can I get you?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris follows along with Barry and there's a bit of a smile, "This is still home for me, even if I live in New York now." she tells him. "And even if we do have the Avengers and things, they don't come out all the time. Actually, if they did come out all the time I'd be worried." she chuckles.

"And the Flash is more interesting to me. You know that. Even if Captain America looks good in blue." she winks at Barry. "I'll take a latte. Figured we'd go find a place to grab dinner after a bit of catch up." she smiles at him.

Flash has posed:
"A latte it is." says Barry as he gets into line for coffee. "Again with the Flash? I think you have a crush, Iris West." he says with a joking tone. "All those hero types out on the coast, and yet you still are after that interview with Flash. One might think you have an obsession."

He winks to the reporter and turns to order the coffee. "Dinner sounds good, I am starving."

Iris West (208) has posed:
"Thank you." Iris states to Barry with a look around before she looks back to him. When he brings up the Flash she rolls her eyes playfully. "Come on Barry, he's our hometown hero. Not like any of those guys on the coast." she points out. "And maybe it's the suit? I just want to get his side of the story." she admits. "Anything in particular you want for dinner?" she asks him.

Flash has posed:
Flash says, "You know me, Iris. I'm always up for a buffet. I still have that growing boy metabolism." He laughs softly, "But seriously, I am up for anything. There is a good Chinese food place down the road a bit, or there is always Big Belly Burger. But, knowing you, you would want something less fast food, more sit downy. Hrm.""

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a chuckle, "Given the food on the flight I could be up for a buffet." she tells him with a grin. "So lets do Chinese, means we can sit and talk and you can get all your growing boy carbs." she teases him. "Also, didn't you call me a pitbull a few weeks ago with the whole Flash thing?" she points out.

Flash has posed:
Barry grins. "Yeah, I did..didn't I" He chuckles again, taking the fresh coffees and handing one over to Iris, "I also think I promised to see if I could get you a meeting with him, didn't I?" says Barry as he takes a sip from the hot drink. "I will have to see what I can do on that front, otherwise you may just sink your teeth into me." He grins, offering his arm, "So, Chinese it is then."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris takes a moment to purse her lips and gently blow on the hot coffee that's been handed over to her. There's a smile to Barry, "See, you do have a good memory." she winks at him. She takes a sip before she continues. "We won't worry about the Flash and things this weekend though. I came home to see you and catch up with a few others, so...lets go get dinner." she grins.

Flash has posed:
"Alright, alright. Dinner it is." says Barry as he starts to walk down the street towards the Chinese restaurant. "No more talk of work, then? Fair enough, but you have to tell me all about New York. I don't get over that way very often, but I hear that it is always going. The city never sleeps, is that true?"

They get to the restaurant and Barry opens the door for her, "After you."

Iris West (208) has posed:
"New York is big and noisy and full of weirdness. I thought our fair little city was the only one filled with weirdness, but, turns out New York is like that times ten." Iris chuckles as she walks with him, her heels making the soft clicking sounds as they do.

"And it definitely does not sleep. I get all sorts of calls on stories. Last one was four in the morning. I was pretty much a zombie." she laughs. When Barry holds the door there's a smile, "Thanks." she tells him as she heads inside.

Flash has posed:
"Not like a literal zombie, right?" Barry says in a half joking tone. "I mean, I have heard about how those things can be around. Last thing I want is for someone to think eating my brain is a good source of nutrition."

They sit down at a table and Barry starts to take a look at the menu, "Come on, Iris. Central City isn't all /that/ weird. I mean it's not like Gotham or Metropolis, or even New York scale. Worst we have is one of the Rogues trying to get Flash usually."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a look to him, "Brains..." she whispers to him. Then there's a giggle, "Of course not. Zombies..." and then he's telling her they do exist and she looks a little mortified. "So they do exist." she chuckles a bit warily.

She sits down across from him and there's a smile to him, "No, just people robbing banks with fire and ice guns and all that other low key, not weird stuff." she nods sagely to him. "Wonder if they just want to draw him out because he's a hero. Or if they have something else against the guy." she murmurs.

Flash has posed:
"Hey, i'm just a scientist. I have no idea why someone like Cold or Heat Wave would do the things they do, other than for the money or kicks of it I guess." Barry sips at the coffee, "Likely a little of both? They probably want to be the one to put him down and get the 'glory' of it from their peers. It's like Iron Heights is full of guys that would like to be the one to cap the guy that put them in there."

He shrugs, "Let's just be glad we get to have a nice simple dinner without having to worry about something like that happening."

Iris West (208) has posed:
"Oh they have names now. Excellent." Iris states as she makes a mental note of that. She then listens to Barry and there's a bit of an eyebrow quirk when he explains things, "You know...that doesn't sound too far off." she frowns at that.

Then she chuckles softly, "I doubt anything like that is going to happen to us." she points out. But hey, you never know! "What sounds good to you?" she asks as she looks over the menu.

Flash has posed:
"I typically go for the kung pao chicken," Barry says with a shrug. "I don't know if you like your food spicy or not, so we can go with something more mild. I also think an order of the pork dumplings would be a wonderful idea. And maybe some of the fried rice. Oh, and how about some chow mien?" He grins, "Oh, I don't know. If something were to happen, knowing you, you would run into the middle of it trying to get a story."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris listens to Barry and there's a nod of agreement when he states the food choices, "I think dumplings sound great. And some chow mien." she grins. Then she gives him a bit of a frown, "I'd stay out of it...until the end and could see if I could get a statement. Other than that, I'm definitely not going to get in the middle unless the guy looks like he needs some help." she nods sagely.

Flash has posed:
Flash chuckles, "Really Iris? I have known you for how long? I don't buy it. I mean, I don't think you are going to run out into the thick of it to get you a story, but I know you will be on the sidelines snapping photos and doing what you can to make sure you get the scoop. I'm not saying you are going to put yourself in danger on purpose, but we both know...pitbull, remember."

He grins and orders food as the waitress comes by before turning back to the conversation at hand. "And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just want you to be careful, you know?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a look to Barry and then there's a chuckle, "Alright, but I wouldn't get into trouble. I'd stay out of danger." she tells him with a smile. "Promise." she adds. "And I'm always careful. Well, except when I get invited to Central Park by unknowns via email." she chuckles. "Not going to do that anymore either." she points out.

Flash has posed:
Barry hrms, "Did you ever find out what that was about, anyway? Did the guy ever contact you again? I mean, that was just odd."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a shake of her head, "Never found out what it was about. They emailed me again, but then cancelled so I haven't responded to anything else. It's a waste of time." she admits. "So don't worry on it. Probably someone just messing around." she adds with a smile.

Flash has posed:
Barry frowns slightly, "Do they keep emailing you, even after you stopped responding?" He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms over his chest, "I'm not sure I like this, Iris. Sounds way to fishy."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a shake of her head when he crosses his arms over his chest, "It's nothing for you to worry on. They sent two more and then seem to have given up." she tells him. "I promise if they start emailing again I'll have the police look into it." she adds.

Flash has posed:
"Iris, what do these emails say? Specifically?" asks Barry, his tone skeptical. "I really would like to know. I mean I don't like that someone has tried to lure you out for some clandestine meetings. I mean, once would be weird enough, but multiple times?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris realizes that Barry isn't going to let things get swept under the rug. So she gives a soft sigh, "Some people are weird or obsessive, you know that right?" she chuckles. "Basically the first email was someone wanting to meet because they had information about the Flash. They wouldn't tell me what information. Insisted on doing it in person." she explains. "The other emails were for trying to reschedule. I explained that I wasn't going to meet with them given the weirdness. They insisted that I should and then stopped responding." she tells him. "That's been all of it." she adds.

Flash has posed:
"That's it? They just suddenly stoped sending you emails?" Barry frowns, "I just don't get it."

He sighs, combing his fingers through his blonde hair, "Well, I guess if they stopped then that is that. Just...be careful. Obviously they were targeting you for something."

He takes a bite of the food, quieting down and letting the perceived threat to Iris' wellbeing go for now. Not like there is much he can do about it anyway, except maybe have Bruce track the email down sometime.

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a nod to him, "Yes. I didn't respond to the last few and I haven't gotten anymore. I can forward them to you if you want to look at them." she offers. "I'll be careful. After I ran into you at the park I started thinking more on it and decided not to try to meet them." she tells him with a smile. "So how have things been going for you here?" she asks him.

Flash has posed:
Barry takes another deep breath and nods, "Yeah. Forward one to me. If you don't mind I would like to have a friend check it out."

Finally, he lets the subject drop and takes another bite of the food. "Things are fine here. Same old town, same old story. There are only so many tire tread samples a day one can analyze before loosing their mind." He offers up a quick wink, "Other than work I just tend to go for a jog here and there."

He pushes some of the food around on his plate with his fork, stabbing at a peanut idly, "I know, i'm boring."

Iris West (208) has posed:
"I'll do it when I get back to New York then." Iris tells him with a smile. Then she lets it drop as well so they can enjoy dinner. She seems perfectly happy to not be talking about weird emails.

There's a soft shake of her head when he calls himself boring, "You aren't boring, Barry. Your work helps out in cases and if I was home I could drag you out for drinks and things more often." she chuckles.

Flash has posed:
Flash laughs, "Oh, I know I am boring. I mean, all I do is work, Iris. It's ok, you don't need to placate me." He grins, "Besides, I am a big boy, I can take myself out for drinks if I wanted to."

He pushes the food around the plate a bit more, taking another bite. "We will just have to have a standing date. If I am in NYC, I call you. If you are here, you call me."

There is the faint sound of a siren in the distance, growing louder as the car making draws closer.

Iris West (208) has posed:
"I'm not placating you." Iris tells him with a chuckle. "And isn't it more fun to have someone to go out with?" she poses the question to him. Then she smiles, "I'll gladly agree to that." she tells him on the standing dates.

When she hears the sirens there's a look to him before she looks to the door, "Home's really quiet, huh?" she asks him teasingly.

Flash has posed:
"Well that is why I don't go out very often, the company is lousy..." says Barry as he starts to crane his neck over to look towards the siren. "It usually is. Well, quieter than NYC in any rate."

The siren grows louder as it draws closer and closer.

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives him a smile, "The company is lousy in New York as well." she admits to him. There's another bite of food taken, but her attention is on the siren as well. "Wonder what's going on." she murmurs.

Flash has posed:
Barry nods absently, listening to Iris but focused more on the siren outside. "I'm sure it's nothing, Iris. Probably just a routine traffic stop or something equally unimportant. Nothing to be concerned over, i'm sure."

The siren screams by, the car moving at a high rate of speed as it passes the little bistro. A moment later there is a screech of tires, and a loud crash.

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a look to Barry, out of the pair she was probably the thrill seeker. She gives him a soft smile, Yeah, its probably nothing. she agrees with him quietly. Then theres the sound of screeching tires and a loud crash and she puts her fork down slowly, Or it is something. she tells Barry as she looks to him.

Flash has posed:
So much for quiet. Barry looks up at the sound of the crash and careens his head to look in that direction. "I should probably call this in..." Barry says as he starts to stand. "See if anyone is hurt."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris looks to Barry when he starts to stand and there's a nod. "I can go with you if you want?" she asks him. "Or I can stay here and not be a reporter for the night." she chuckles. "Either way, go ahead and call it in. Sounds like it was a couple of cars." she admits.

Flash has posed:
Barry smirks, rising fully to his feet. "Iris, that would be like telling a bee not to make honey. I know even if I said to stay here you would sneak out to take a look." He shakes his head and starts walking at a brisk pace towards the back area that has the payphones and restrooms. "You be you."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris chuckles softly as she stands, Well, Ill stay back away from things. Wont get into any trouble. she tells him. Theres a peculiar look when he heads for the back, Must have forgotten his cell phone... she shakes her head as she heads for the front door, heading out to see what was going on out front.

Flash has posed:
As Iris heads out the front, Barry makes his way to the back. Once out of site, Barry slips out the back door and zips down the street his costume emerging from his ring and expanding to create the visage of The Flash!

Outside, there is a cop car on its side, having been rammed by a secondary vehicle. Armed thugs exiting the other car start to focus on the disabled cop car, lifting their rifles to pepper the vehicle with hot lead.

Iris West (208) has posed:
Well...crap!

Iris wasn't expecting to walk out into the middle of a gun fight. The woman digs her cellphone out of her purse as she edges forward just a little, ducking down behind a car as she brings up the recorder on her phone as she starts to record what's unfolding in front of them. "There's a cop stuck in the car." she whispers.

Flash has posed:
In a blur of red and yellow, the Flash arrives from up the street, stopping between the gunman and cop car, his hands on his hips as he stares at the men with the guns. "Come on, guys. We both know how this is going to end. Why not just put down the guns, give up peacefully and call it a night. These people just want to have dinner, without a side helping of lead."

Iris West (208) has posed:
The cop inside the overturned car is having a bit of trouble to get himself out of the overturned car. When the gunfire starts tearing through the car hes yelling into his radio for backup. Theres sirens off in the distance, but none of them would be soon enough from the looks of it.

And then the Flash arrives in all of his red and gold glory and it takes the cop and a few of the gunmen by surprise. The head of the thugs seems less than impressed though, Were supposed to take advice from a dude in a costume? he asks. Without waiting for an answer, two of the thugs fire at the Flash.

Iris watches all of this unfold and theres a moment taken to move up closer to where she can see. When the Flash arrives theres a bit of a breath taken, Looks like everything is going to be okay. she whispers while recording. Then they start firing at the Flash and Iris pops up and shouts No! at them. Which makes one turn to see who she is. Taking a pot shot at the car shes hiding behind.

Flash has posed:
It all happens so fast, everything in the blink of an eye. However, to someone with the Speed Force on his side, time is relative. The world slows down around Barry as he kicks in his power to overdrive once the bullets start to fly again, and he lunges forward.

The first thing he does is catch all the hot lead in the air, picking them from the air like they are standing still and piling them up in little piles by each of the gunman's feet.

The second thing he does, is disable each of the gunmen's rifles by dropping the magazines and flicking the safety on each gun.

THen, there is Iris. Barry races forward, snatching the bullet from in front of her face with his firefinger and thumb.

"Hello, Ms. West. Fancy seeing you in town."

Iris West (208) has posed:
The officer manages to get unstuck from the car and crawls outside to witness the Flash start snatching bullets and then disabling the rifles. Hes stunned for a moment.

The gunmen look to their rifles for the moment and then to the Flash. One tries to fire and then throws the gun down in frustration before taking off running. Another one starts to and then remembers something in their car...

Iris was going to duck, but her reaction time as not that good. When the Flash catches the bullet from in front of her face theres a rush of breath out that she didnt know she was holding. Good to see you, Flash. she tells him with a smile. I think the bad guys are getting away though. she points behind him.

Flash has posed:
Flash glances behind him at the fleeing gunman, and shrugs a shoulder. "Here. Hold this." He drops the bullet into her hand, gives her a wink, and is off.

The first one he goes after is the one who foolishly thinks he can outrun the fastest man alive. It literally takes Barry less than a nanosecond to catch up to the runner.

"Hi!" he says to the goon before introducing his fist to the goon's face.

He then heads over to the one who starts to rummage in the car. Barry just leans against the car, next to the door with his arms crossed over his chest. "Hey there. Whatcha looking for?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
When the Flash drops the bullet into her hand theres a bit of a smile, Youre giving out souvenirs now? she chuckles as she watches him zoom off to fight the bad guys. She still keeps recording though, because shes still a reporter.

The running thug was surprised that hed been caught, but doesnt have time to react when hes hit in the face. He lands with a thud on the pavement.

Then the guy that was digging in the car turns to see the Flash behind him. He fires at him with the gun hed found. Maybe it was from being startled because theres a look of regret that crosses his face seconds after.

Flash has posed:
There is a loud bang as the gun goes off. There is no way that he can miss at point blank range...except he does. The Flash doesn't look like he has moved, still standing there just as he was before with his arms crossed over his chest, but in his right hand he is bouncing a bullet. "Care to rethink that idea? Officer, why don't you come over and fit our new friend here with some fancy new jewelry."

Iris West (208) has posed:
The man drops the gun after it goes off. Maybe its just one of those things. When the Flash mentions the cop and the cuffs the man just turns around and puts his hands behind his back, because he wasnt even going to try to run.

The cop brushes himself off and then starts to head over to the Flash and the thug. Sure thing, Flash. Looks like backup is here as it is. he states. And thank you for the hand. he adds.

Meanwhile, Iris is still over there filming. Being a reporter...and probably a fan.

Flash has posed:
Flash nods to the cop. "Anytime, officer. Glad to be of assistance."

Letting the cop deal with the bad guys, Flash zooms over to where Iris is standing, moving to stand in front of her camera. "Ms. West. I heard you had moved to New York, so what brings you back out this way? Still trying to pin me down for that interview?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris gives a look to the Flash when he zooms back over and there's a moment she keeps recording before she gives a smile to him. "Very good work with those guys. You saved a few lives it looks like." she admits. "I'm back for the weekend visiting. And yes, still trying to pin you down for an interview." she grins as she hits the stop button on her phone. "Thank you for stopping that bullet." she adds.

Flash has posed:
"Of course." says the Flash as he dips his head, "I Mean, couldn't very well let you get shot could I? What kind of hero would I be if I let /that/ happen."

The Flash glances back behind him at the wreck, and the cops that are starting to pile the badges into the backup squad cars to take them away. "I wonder what that was all about. Seems a little random."
RHe looks back to Iris, "Tell you what. You have been asking and asking for so long...how about I finally give you that interview. Name a time and a place."

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris slips her phone back into her pocket and there's a smile to the man in red, "Well, you are indeed a hero." she tells him. Alright, she wasn't going to fangirl too much on him. Not here. "And it did seem a bit random. I'm not sure what's going on there." she shakes her head.

When he tells her to name a time and place there's a smile, "Really? Oh wow." she is in a bit of disbelief. "How does Sunday night sound?" she asks him.

Flash has posed:
Flash nods to Iris, "Sunday night it is. Where? What time?" He smiles, glancing behind him again to make sure that there is nothing amiss with the guys the cops are dealing with before looking back to Iris. "Shall I just run around the city till I find you?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
Iris realizes she missed vital information and there's an embarrassed chuckle, "How about seven and on the roof of the Picture News? It's quiet and shouldn't be bothered. Don't want to make you go to New York when you've got a city to look after." she admits. "Unless you want to play hide and go seek." she muses.

Flash has posed:
Flash says, "Ha. I don't think it would be fair, Ms. West. I can have the city searched in a minute, two if I take my time. Of course I think I might get hit with a bunch of privacy suits if I started just running into peoples houses playing a massive game of hide and seek." He grins, "7pm it is. See you then, Ms. West."

And then he is a blur of Red and Yellow, streaking off down the road.

"Wow.." says Barry, coming up behind Iris, "Can't believe you actually got to meet him! I don't think I have ever seen him sit still for that long.""

Iris West (208) has posed:
"See you then, Flash. Be safe!" Iris calls after the speedster as she watches the blur. She then looks down to the bullet that he saved her from. Barry startles her, making her jump a little, "I know. It's so exciting!" she tells Barry as she turns around to look at him. Bullet still in hand.

Flash has posed:
Barry grins, "Well, so much for a quiet dinner. Shall I take you home so you can write your story?"

Iris West (208) has posed:
"Sure, let's get going before anyone starts shooting again." Iris chuckles as she pockets the bullet and then heads off with Barry.
