Cast of Characters: Chris Redfield, Lara Croft

Chris Redfield has posed:
Just your average day at the Triskelion. SHIELD and WAND operatives and agents...even desk clerks, are enjoying the athletics area. Or at least the ones who want themselves to be physically fit like the agents. People are working out, laughing together, having a coffee and chatting. Some are in that boxing ring going a few rounds, and some are swimming extensive laps to be like Michael Phelps.

     Then there's Chris Redfield.

He had just finished working out //his entire body// and he still seems fit to keep on going. He might as well be a self-made all natural Super Soldier at this point, which he is. Alas, for once, he's out of his combat fatigues, instead simply wearing a white tanktop and gym shorts, flaunting his muscles, sure, but also being simply effective.

He seems to be walking up to the boxing ring whilst chugging a thing of Powerade. Clearly itnerested for some action.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara had been using the rock climbing wall all afternoon. It was her prefered way to get an exercise and keep up with skills that will undoubtedly keep her alive in the job that she does, so she's come to learn. She's even had SHIELD make modifications to their wall to improve it so other climbers can learn as she's learned through real world experience... its lead other SHIELD members to come to her for lessons, though sometimes they seem to just ask to get a chance to meet the strange WAND agent.

As of now? Lara is at the foot of the large climbing wall, having just descended. She's walking over to her gear and rolling/coiling the climbing ropes back up, still breathing a little heavily. Lara sets her gear down into the open bag on a table, then reaches up to remove her helmet and set it down as well.

She glances up and notices Redfield, having seen him around before, but never having engaged him in conversation yet.

Chris Redfield has posed:
Chris doesn't seem to notice Lara at first, instead his eyes analyze with cold precision every single move the present fighters in the ring make. Each shift of the foot, each subtle breath as they try to anticipate each other, each punch and haymaker thrown. Nevertheless, one of them gets knocked down hard by the other, and they decide to call it there, abandoning the ring for their shifts.

Thus, does Chris walk up there, putting on some mixed martial arts gloves, it's only now that he notices Lara. His eyes lock onto her own for a little bit, and eventually, he smiles kindly to her. "Hey." he says and gives a little wave with the hand that holds his helmet presently.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara continues to stuff the various bits of gear into the bag, removing her fingerless gloves and then reaching for a scarf that she puts around her neck after dabbing at her forehead with it from the exercise. She looks back up to Chris then when he speaks to her and she offers him a faint smile and a light nod back at him. "Hey yourself." She says. "Redfield, right?" She asks, zipping the duffle sport bag up. Lara had been trying to learn other Agent names, even the ones she didn't associate with, which one of her friends in SHIELD had been helping her with... the gossipy type of friend who knows all the inter-office-rumors and chitchat.

"I'm Lara, Croft. With WAND." She shows a slightly larger smile then.

Chris Redfield has posed:
Redfield has heard bits and pieces about Lara Croft. One of the resident rich people but an adventurer through and through. He's always respected the name. "Yeah, but you can just call me Chris." He says with a small smile as he leans against one of the corners of that boxing ring, watching Lara as she handles her own business.

"Oh, you're in the fun stuff huh? Yeah, I used to be in that game. I help out Wand when needed, but...eh." of course, he's talking about the various zombie incidents of the past, of which he was critical in handling. Imaginary middle-finger to Wesker. Alas...

"Either way, nice to finally meet ya Lara." indicating he's heard of her in either small or large detail. Or he just read her file.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara uncapp a bottle of water and takes a moment to stand beside the table that her duffle and other gear resting on. She stares at him as he talks and she takes a sip of the water before lowering it down to hold it in front of her waistline. "WAND is certainly capable of being called a lot of things, fun... could be one of them, from time to time. Thought it entirely depends on what one's definition of the word 'fun' truly is." Lara says in her thick British accent, showing the man a faint grin. "I've had good times though, along with a lot of bad ones. But its the education that it provides into the darker side of the world that I find enthralling, such as..." Lara glances across the room but there's no windows in here. So she looks back to him.

"The larger world would rather pretend that magic and the occult aren't real, even though many know that they are. Ghosts, goblins... monsters in the dark, they're all real. But thats what WAND is here for, to stop them from escalating and becoming larger and larger of a problem."

Chris Redfield has posed:
Heh, Lara might be one of the few people who actually relate to Chris in a way. Though he's very American and lacks the ultra-awesome British accent. Either way, Chris knows a thing or two about fighting magic beasts, or magic-seeming beasts that would easily be the thing of nightmares for most humans. "Yeah, they damn well are." he nods in agreement. "I just wish we found out sooner." he teases lightly before he looks at her.

"Well...since It's the first meeting, how about you show me some of that monster-beating technique, huh?" he leans against the ring ropes, as if inviting her to step into the ring with him.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara softly nods her head to his words then and takes another sip of her drink before she catches his gesture and lets her eyes go over to the ring that he's indicating. "Oh." She says, eyes traveling back over to him. "I don't know. I mean... right." She laughs softly. "I suppose I can do that, though I just spent the past two hours on the wall so I might be a bit wobbly." Lara recaps her water bottle and sets it back down onto the table beside her.

"You're with STARS, correct?" She asks. "They were assigned to the outbreak in Raccoon City?" She tilts her head gently to the side. "I haven't had a chance to look into much of that. How is it all doing now?"

Chris Redfield has posed:
"Hey, I just spent the past two hours doing heavy weightlifting and running the track. I think we'll both be a little wobbly, but that's fine." he says then pretty easily as he relaxes a bit, simply staying leaning on those ropes. When questioned, he nods. "Yeah, I was with STARS. Probably did too many campaigns into Raccoon City, but...it was worth it, to end the menace there." he shrugs a bit.

"To my knowledge, Raccoon City is doing fine. It's not quarantined anymore, I think, so that's always nice. Sometimes I'm called in to deal with straggling stuff, like a random zombie wandering about or other kind of undead." he smiles. "Probably not as clean cut as WAND but...ya know."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara listens to the bit about the zombies and it makes her softly shake her head from right to left. "Remarkable." She says quietly. "The word 'zombie' itself seems to inappropriate to ever apply to a real life person, considering its heritage is so rooted in black magic. But now its becom mutated by popular culture that its origins are not really discernable today." She shows a faint smirk then. "I'm glad you're there to take care of it, however. And part of me is curious, I'll admit." She takes another drink of her water. "I'm curious to know what exactly they behave like, and what it takes to properly put one out of its misery. But at the same time? My heart breaks at the thought that thats how a person's life ended... that all their day in and day out struggles lead to them being so wretchedly changed, to get labeled 'un dead'."

Chris Redfield has posed:
Chris does feel bad for those turned into those vile creatures. "Well, I'm not an expert in magic, so forgive the possible unworthy naming." He states then. "But...that's how I knew them for the longest time, instead of just the poor bastards who pissed off the wrong black mage." He shrugs. "But...science and greed played just as much of a role in it. But...Oh well." He smiles to her a little bit.

"Well, it was my pleasure." he doesn't get a whole lot of thanks for it, so this is a good change. "Behavior? Well...imagine if you were absolutely ravenous, and the thing that could possibly quench your hunger wasn't too far away..say, human flesh or even animal flesh, and you had to have it? They come at you with the fiercest desire to eat you. Nothing else matters as madness takes over." he sighs. "What to do to put them out of their misery?"

"Aim for the head." is all CHris says, but then he relapses into silence, as if regretting his actions, but he truly wishes there was a way to cure the beasts he killed.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara gently shakes her head from side to side. "Oh no, I don't fault you for referring to them as such. In a time of crisis, clarity is essential in order to maintain any measure of hope for survival. And as sad as the clarity is to know that you're fighting a 'zombie' it certainly does bring a peron's mind into the right frame of mind as to what they're up against..." She exhales then and nods just a little toward him.

"A shot to the head. Damage the brain into disrepair and the whole system goes down." She reaffirms after he says it. "Remarkable, really. There are some species of insects who operate in a zombie-like fashion, but to think that a laboratory managed to make a drug that could do that to us?" A sharp exhale escapes from the Brit's lips. She nods once to him. "I'm thankful for your help in stopping it from spreading further than it did."

Chris Redfield has posed:
Well, it feels good to be appreciated! But Chris doesn't show it. Nevertheless, he still offers Lara a brilliant smile as he exits the fighting ring to move next to her, leaning against the edge of the ring itself. "Agreed...to call them anything else would have only served to do the men fighting and dying at my side a disservice. They needed to know exactly who and what they were dealing with." he shrugs then, he remembers every single man that died under his command.

"Right." he nods with her notion of how shooting the head permanently kills the zombie with no chance of it getting up again. "All it takes is the thought and someone who has the will to do it to make it reality." though when she thanks him again, he smiles. "You're welcome, though I don't deserve any thanks. Just doing my part for a brighter tomorrow." he smiles to her.

"Say, how about we get something to eat? Food court supposedly has steak today."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara Croft says, "The irony is that I was thinking about this bean for some random reason like 20 minutes ago on my way home."
