A Hot Time in Manhattan
Date of Scene: 10 October 2018
Location: Manhattan, New York City
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Wasp (van Dyne), Ghost Rider (Blaze)

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
The gala was one of those exclusive, invitation-only affairs that are so far *above* the society pages that they're only heard about weeks later. Held in one of Manhattan's exclusive hotels, the event occupies one of the privately-owned upper floors of the high-rise.

Janet van Dyne is here, of course, being CEO of the JVD label as well as one of the public faces of the Avengers. The diminutive brunette is wearing a black cocktail dress, and shows no discomfort whatsoever as she mingles with Manhattan's business elite. Champagne flows freely and a string quartet plays softly in the corner of one room.

Ghost Rider (Blaze) has posed:
Ah, well....not everyone can go to a Gala. Chasing a flying, winged demon on his motorcycle, Johnny Blaze had his sawed-off shotgun ready to fire at the demon and he does! He manages to clip it's foot right off of it's body...But it's a large demon. Something that could probably clear ar oom full of unpowered people pretty quickly. It's foot already seeming to recover itself Before it turns to attack Johnny!

Thankfully, Johnny transformed into the blazing Ghost Rider.

A few moments later...

Flying through one of hte larger windows is the demon! and on it's back is the Ghost Rider as he wrestles it down into a table that thankfully nobody was at. It's cries loud and not able to be hidden at all as Ghost Rider is trying to choke the demon out.

Well....this should be interesting.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet van Dyne is trying to look attentive and interesting as some bank CFO tells an off-color joke. Just as she's trying to decide whether it's less inappropriate to spill champagne on him or fake an illness, the window shatters from the flaming interlopers.

Thank goodness!

Without so much as an 'excuse me', the woman shrinks rapidly and the designer dress flutters to the floor. When she zips out from the fabric, the Wasp is no bigger than her namesake and wearing the custom-fitted black and gold bodysuit.

It's not like her identity is a secret, after all.

Ghost Rider (Blaze) has posed:
Ghost Rider is holding that thing down with some intense might, but this thing's wings are lashing out at people. Knocking people backwards and slicing another. He'll live, but it'll leave a nasty scar. Meanwhile, It starts to slow it down just a little bit...before it's hand grabs Ghost Rider and proceeds to chuck the Spirit of Vengeance into a column.

It's not hard to see that the matchstick is protecting the people here..or trying to.

As it's about to stand up, a silver, bladed chain wraps around it's torso, still fighting from both sides.

Perhaps Wasp will turn the tide?

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet van Dyne doesn't hesitate and buzzes right in. The demon throws the Ghost Rider into a column as Wasp flies right up to his left ear. It takes a lot to crash through the high-tensile glass in these buildings, and flying demons really don't belong at these sort of parties in the first place.

Without hesitation she grabs the demon by the ear, using a judo-throw to HURL the creature against another column.

Who says size matters?

Ghost Rider (Blaze) has posed:
Ghost Rider doesn't seem to notice wasp at first. Though...he has a feeling something is there considering that the demon literally just got walloped into another column.

Well damn.

Size matters not. The creature is stunned and reeling, before that chain around it's torso lights aflame with Hellfire, causing the creature to howl in pain as it starts to disintegrate!

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Wasp dives for speed and then raises up to hover closer to the demon again. It's down. The chain catches fire. It begins to disintegrate.

She points both of her small hands at the creature, hitting it with a double-fisted bio blast. Janet doesn't hold back, either, and the concussion from the blast is louder than the wind through the broken window of the high-rise.

After the first blast she grows back to her normal size, wings vanishing. "Everyone clear the room, please!" she calls out, almost unnecesarily. A couple of people were hit by debris, but for the most part they've all been giving the combatants plenty of space.

Ghost Rider (Blaze) has posed:
Eventually, the demon disintegrates. Ghost Rider and Wasp stand tall, with Ghost Rider reverting back to Johnny Blaze like his transformation had never happened. He looks at Wasp and he gives a little wave. "Hey."

Crisis averted!...for now.

"Thanks for the assist. Wasp right? Avengers?"

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet van Dyne flashes a warm smile, inclining her head as the room clears rapidly around them. "Right. Janet van Dyne." She nose-wrinkles, then adds. "Not really much of a secret, I'm afraid." Stepping over to a tray of champagne glasses that somehow managed to survive the clash, she offers him a glass and takes one for herself.

"So a couple of questions come to mind, of course. First, what was THAT? And second, who are you?"

Ghost Rider (Blaze) has posed:
Well, this is a rather entertaining greeting! Very friendly and eloquent, things Johnny isn't used to. He's used to people firing guns at him as he tries to explain that A) bullets are very ineffective against him and B) He's trying to help!

WIth wine glass in hand, he sips his drink and he answers her question. "That was a rage demon. Of the lfying variety. It attacked a warehouse factory in downtown New York then I chased it here. As for me? Well, call me Johnny Blaze."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet van Dyne smiles again, the short woman reverting to her charming, professional self once more. She clinks glasses and takes a sip of her own. "Pleasure to meet you, Johnny Blaze. Stop by the JVD building any time, and we'll do something about that outfit." Wink.

"I like the look, but it's a bit too much on the 'well-worn' side, don't you think?"

Ghost Rider (Blaze) has posed:
Johnny simply chuckles. "Likewise, Janet. What's wrong with my clothes?" He looks at himself then back to her before she explains he looks a liiiitttllleee too 'well-worn' for her taste. "You just want me to look hot like you." He winks at her with a bit of a more blunt flirtation before he shrugs.

"Well, I'm not opposed to a costume change. What do you ahve in mind? Not all heroes wear capes, you know."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet van Dyne's lashes lower, gaze sweeping down over the worn leather before rising once more. "Something definitely fire-resistant, of course, but that's another conversation entirely." She steps up, delicate fingers tugging the worn jacket a bit more into place. "Black leather looks good on you. We'll start with that."

She has to raise up onto tiptoe to come anywhere near meeting his eyes when she speaks next, voice lower. "Just tell the receptionist your name and that you have an appointment. We'll discuss the details in person."
