Fast Food In a Flash
Date of Scene: 16 October 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Flash and Jessica Drew grab a burger and talk telepath shop.
Cast of Characters: Spider-Woman (Drew), Flash

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica is nowhere near in costume when she arrives at the burger joint, in black leggings and boots, and a tan leather blazer. But as she is waiting for her food, she unbuttoned her blazer, revealing a red field with shiny gold spiderweb emblazoning the chest. She has nothing to hide. But Flash does. She waits patiently while the food is prepared, and when it is done, she takes the bags and exits the back door to a picnic table out back. There, she waits for her almost certainly late partner in crime(fighting) to arrive. Bag of burgers on the table. Shakes in Styrofoam cups. Another bag of fries. And a cardboard nacho tray holding a veritable lake of ketchup. She likes a little fries to go with her ketchup.

Flash has posed:
Seven minutes go by. The start of that eighth minute, and then Flash is suddenly there. He's fast enough to seem to teleport when he really tries, but he slowed down towards the end to give some moderate warning. So it was a red blur that came around some tables and jogged the last two steps before sitting down across from her. "Hi," Flash says brightly, already appearing to have relaxed on the bench as if he'd been sitting there for five minutes, hands resting on the table. "Sorry about that. Got distracted," Flash admits in his usual apologetic manner. He does feel bad, but he doesn't linger over it. "That looks great," he adds of her meal, pointing into the ketchup lake. "You must be hungry," he teases. "Or you're a lackey for the condiment king."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"I...really like ketchup," Jess admits sheepishly. "I know you're bound to be a bottomless pit, so I gotcha two bacon cheeseburgers." She sounds a little uncertain, but she stands by her conviction. "I'm just...I'm so glad you could come. Lots of stuff going on. And you're really the only person I feel comfortable talking to. Y'know?"

Flash has posed:
"I consume a lot," Flash admits, understanding immediately that he's meant to join her. "Bacon Cheeseburgers? Sold; thank you. You've bought my full attention." It's a tease, she probably would have had his attention regardless of buying him food. He somewhat shyly picks up some fries, though, just in case she was teasing HIM about feeding him.

"I'm glad I had some time, too. I--- really? Me? Well." Flash looks embarrassed, but masks some of it with a fry. "I hope I can help out."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Flashing half a smile, Jessica reaches into a bag and pulls out the foil-wrapped burgers, setting two in front of Flash and one in front of herself. "I think I'm gonna need your help. These telepaths have got me shakin'. Annd, well...I need someone who...thinks like me. I know this isn't exactly making sense..." She takes a fry and utterly drenches it with ketchup, going quiet for a moment to stuff it into her mouth.

Flash has posed:
Flash seems to have slowed down to normal person speed. There's no real trace of power use, he's taking his time with the food, leaned one elbow on the table to set his cheek against his raised palm, eating fries for right now. It's slightly silly, just due to his partially armored Flash costume, but he's relaxed enough about it.

"I can listen, though," Flash says, tone supportive, friendly. "However you want to describe it is fine."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"The telepath that tried to kill me before, during the whole...fungus thing..." Jess explains. "He wasn't acting on his own will. He was a puppet. I sort of thought...maybe he was really in there somewhere, but I couldn't ever draw him out. I wanted, y'know, to try to save him. I thought I could. But I made mistakes. I tried to partner with somebody who just wanted to kill him. And he did. But there are others. I feel like they can be saved. And I carry enough guilt over Paulie. I can't hold it all, if the others die..." Jess' green eyes are solemn as she finally raises her gaze to meet his own masked gaze.

Flash has posed:
Flash's gaze is troubled, his light eyes frowning a little bit, in align with the rest of his expression while he watches her. "We can't save everybody. Some things are certainly beyond what we can do," Flash sighs a little. "But that's part of why we have teams. Network with people that can do the things we might be lacking in. But not just that. Also to say what's up. Support." Flash flips his hand between them, indicating the conversation. "Even this. Because you shouldn't be holding it alone, huh? I mean. You don't have to. You're not Batman," Flash reminds her, entirely deadpan, although his lips quirk with his joke-not-joke. "Sounds like this telepath really got to you exactly how he meant to," Flash continues, more seriously. "It's a wound: it's not forever, though. Instead of hitting you physically you've got a bit of healing in here to do," Flash says, gesturing to his head.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica sighs, but nods. "I'm working on that part. But I still don't think HE meant to do it. It was whatever was controlling him. Thing is...he's still out there. He tried to kill me. He got Paulie killed. He could do the same thing to the others. They can be helped. I believe that."

Flash has posed:
"Yeah," Flash answers. "I can talk to the Martian Manhunter if you like. He's..." Flash tries to figure out a description, and just lifts a hand to make an explosion near his head with his hand. And then smiles at her. "Beyond description, at that stuff." He drops his hand, getting into the burgers. "Yeah. I believe people can be helped, too. Should be. As much as we're able to."
