Date of Scene: 06 February 2019
Location: Xavier's School, Westchester, New York
Synopsis: Diana chews out Logan for being a Deadbeat Dad!
Cast of Characters: Wonder Woman, Wolverine

Wonder Woman has posed:
A bright red sports car, new model for the new year, pulls up to the gate at Xavier's. The driver had scheduled their arrival through the proper channels, and once she'd said who she was it hadn't been very difficult... it rarely is for her to achieve such. Her name carries a lot of weight these days.

The fancy red car makes its way to the front of the home and it draws to a stop just off of the front entrance walkway. A second later and the door to the driver's seat opens. Diana Prince steps up and out of the vehicle. Her hair is tied back into a bun on the crown of her head. She's dressed casual in a faux-leather jacket, a pair of black slacks and a white slim sweater beneath the jacket.

Diana's eyes look up at the old world home, she then glances around the area before she moves around her vehicle and walks across the pavement to the front doors, glancing right and left occassionally at the property of Xavier's School as she goes.

Wolverine has posed:
The youthful seeming woman's name carried with it a weight of regard that indeed did open doors for her. She was known in several circles that those of Xavier's travel in and so when she had requested the meeting she wasn't turned away in the slightest. There may have been some hesitation when the mention of the Canadian Mutant came up, but only subtly so.
As for the man she is there to meet, when he had received the word he had been a touch incredulous. "What?" He had said succinctly, but when it was explained it didn't take too long for him to realize what it likely was in regards to.
So he was there after she drove up, opening the front door and walking down the front steps towards her, shoes scraping the stone and pavement as he advanced on this unusually warm Winter's day.
"Ms. Prince." His voice carries as he lifts a hand towards his jacket pocket, but instead lowers it as he second guesses the need for a smoke. He nods however, "S'good ta see ya."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana only had a first name for the man, its all she'd ever gotten. She had spoken to Jean Grey some time ago, but those had been stressful moments and not a lot had been truly hashed out.

When the door opens and the man appears she stops her approach and remains standing not far from the front right corner of her car's front end.

She watches him for a second or so after he speaks and she nods very slightly a single time toward him. "You are... Logan?" She asks, her smokey voice is pleasant, calm and laced with an accent not of this country. "Hello." She says to him in response. "This is, unexpected, I know. I come because of a mutual interest... in Laura."

Wolverine has posed:
"Yeah," Logan advances towards her and extends a hand in the typical greeting of Man's World, though he does not seem as aggressive about it as some may be in various represenations she has seen over time. Insteat it is just a short pump twice, then withdrawal as he folds his arms over his chest in front of her.
"Class is sorta in session." He gestures over his shoulder towards he school itself and his lip twists slightly upwards. "We can go inside, figure sit down and have a chat. Though even money on if you'll get seen and hassled by various fans on our way. You up for that?"
He smirks a little and gestures in that direction, letting her make the choice on crossing the threshold inside.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana returns the handshake and she then interlaces her fingers together, her palms pressing softly together. She listens to the rest of his words and a small smile appears on her red hued lips as her eyes glance over to the school's windows to her right. "Perhaps in a few minutes." She says, her gaze going back then to his face. "It is a lovely day out, as it so happens, perhaps we walk a bit out here to chat before I ask for a tour and open myself up for a lot of greetings." She did love children, and getting to spend time with them, but she was here on behalf of a child who needed a lot of help.

Diana motions to the gardens in the front area, they have pathways within them, as she'd noted on her drive up. "If that sounds acceptable?"

Wolverine has posed:
"That works," Logan says as he shifts away from the front door and instead starts to walk along the path that leads around the mansion itself. His own hands slip into the pockets of his jeans as he steps to the side, setting a reasonable pace as he moves. The mansion itself is beautiful, with its ivy clinging to the sides, and the subtle feeling of activity within when small hints of sound reach their ears or a flicker of movement slips past the windows.
"Though, I may bow out once ya move on to the meet and greets. Not exactly my thing." Reclusive after all.
He does, however, open the more difficult topic first by advancing the statement, "Jean mentioned what you did for Laura in my absence. And I appreciate it."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana moves to walk along side him on his right, her left. She glances over at him as he speaks of removing himself once the meet and greets start, and this makes her show a slight grin. "I understand. It is not for everyone. And you work here... so... you are likely used to such things." He doesn't come across as your average 'teacher' type though. He 'smells' much more of former military-type, or soldier of some variety... her experience with people has helped her spot such stuff more easily.

When he advances the conversation, however, she looks forward again while they walk at a casual pace. "Yes." She softly replies. "I found her in less than an ideal situation." And as she starts this, there's a lack of any kind of positive emotion about it. "She was... defending a person from being assaulted in an alleyway." She glances over at Logan. "She was doing this by using her metal claws to eviscerate the would-be attackers. It was... quite a sight." She says all of this in a glum tone.

Wolverine has posed:
She can definitely get a military read on him, the man's manner is unapologetically stern and gruff in that way that usually only comes from service, though augmented with his own weathered charm. "I'll make the first rounda intros as needed, but yeah." His lip twists as he looks off into the distance as his tone shifts slightly, becoming a little more at ease. "After that yer own yer own."
The conversation progresses and she shares how she came to know Laura, his reaction to the information is a steady nod, blue eyes looking off towards the forest behind the manor house as they round that corner. They walk alongside the way. Perhaps a face or two is suddenly pressed against the glass of a window to peer and point as Diana wanders past.
"Her upbringing wasn't. She was created to be a weapon. She's got a long hard road ahead of her." The haggard man could say more, add more, but he perhaps awaits to see what else the Amazon will impart.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana is aware of the face or five pressed up against the windows of the mansion's classrooms, but she ignores them for the time being as she strolls along with Logan through the gardens. Gardens that she internally finds to be quite pretty and enjoyable, but the topic they're discussing is a little less-so.

"She was, yes." Diana replies to the weapon creation bit. "And honestly, that is what concerns me the most." She says as she spares a glance to her left to look upon the side of his face with her blue eyes. "A weapon like that, does not come to be... cheaply. In this world of money and greed, whomever designed her... I would imagine is wanting her returned. I do not see how she could simply be released and forgotten. This is why I am so concerned for her, and her... rough-around-the-edges approach to life and interacting with those around her. Those are issues too, of course, but -where- was she 'designed'?" She asks, whether he knows or not.

Wolverine has posed:
The Canadian mutant nods as he walks, and once they reach a circular part of the gardens where some bench seats are set, he'll wave one hand towards one and incline an eyebrow in her direction should she wish to take a seat. If so he will as well, but either way he tells her, "I could give you some of the information we have." He scrunches one eye up as he looks away, as if trying to gather the right words.
Then he looks back to her and offers, "Think she's connected to the people who did fer me." He touches a hand to his chest as if offering that as an example. "The ones who initially researched the adamantium implantation n'all."
His brow knits, "As for the people that were involved in her project directly, I think her escape..." Logan lifts a hand to rub at the back of his neck thoughtfully, "Well, I think there aren't too many folks left from those efforts. S'all."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana lets her gaze sweep over to the bench as he motions to it and she folds her arms together across her stomach and moves to sit down on the right side of one of the benches. She doesn't lean back though, she stays seated with her posture rigid, her hands falling down into her lap as she looks to him and listens.

"Ah... yes." She says as he insinuates that Laura killed all of her captors. "Still though... the people she killed likely were not the ones funding this... adamantium research?" She furrows her brow a bit. "Is that related to... the Wakandan metal?" She's not an expert on these rare metals, and she hasn't asked Laura any questions regarding them.

"So it was done to you as well?" She then asks. "These, experiments?"

Wolverine has posed:
"Not to the same extent..." When he sits down he takes up a seat on one of the other curved benches, allowing them to speak directly face to face. He leans forward, fingers interlaced and his forearms resting on his knees. "And I think ultimately out there... there are still some people who signed off on it. Or who invested in it."
He grimaces and looks away, perhaps not entirely comfortable retelling the stories or mentioning such things to someone he has only recently met. But she is an individual who has come with strong recommendations unlike any offered in the world in truth.
Back to her he chews the inside of his cheek before he replies, "Over the years I've met a lot of folks who have tried to do a lot of things with Adamantium, and nah Vibranium is different. But also over the years, I've done my best to make sure this sorta thing doesn't happen again."
A look to the mansion is given, nostrils flaring subtly as he takes in that faint drift of wind brushing past them. Without looking back he continues for a moment, "Laura, mighta been parallel research. They didn't have much of the metal, and they were tryin' ta clone me but were just able to..." He stops there and shakes his head.
Back towards her he says, "But for me, I was fully grown when they took me inta the lab. I could handle it. Laura, this is all she's known."

Wonder Woman has posed:
All of this is... unpleasant for Diana to hear. Human experimentation were some of the worst kinds of things, in her opinion. Whether it be a Human pure or a Mutant. It didn't matter to her, it was foul and disgusting and she would punch all the foul people into a fine mist if she were to find them.

So all of what Logan says, lowers her spirits and she does then lean back, and she crosses her legs at the knee with her right over her left, hands still upon her lap.

"I am sorry." She says to him then, her eyes forward on some of the hedges and sculptures in the gardens. "I will admit that when Laura first told me of how she had left here because she had been turned away... by you." She looks over to Logan then. "I had believed her outright. But then I began to realize that there was likely a second part of the story with its own viewpoint, once I learned more of this place. This is not the kind of place that a 'dead beat dad' would reside."

She nods once toward him then. "I had allowed Laura to stay with him, as long as she desired. I had additionally offered her training in the way of my people, for that it might provide her with discipline in when and how it is best to fight. When and how it is best to... use those blades within her bones. I was hoping to help smooth away some of the rough edges, as it were."

Wolverine has posed:
"Ms. Prince, I'll admit up front to most folks..." Logan keeps his posture, leaning forwards, looking across the way. "Well... some." Then he gets a slight smirk and adds, "Okay, you. That I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to some things. And when Laura showed up I didn't know what ta do first off."
He looks down at his hands, then back up with one eye scrunched a bit. "Thing is, and I've told her this since I've come back, that in my early life when I was young..." He looks upwards, frowning, then meets her own blue eyes. "The people around me that were sorta like me, they were terrible influences in things. They made me what I am today in some ways. Which has the good with the bad. But they definitely made any attempt I could ever have at a normal life a darn sight more difficult."
He spreads his hands then, "So my instinct was to make myself scarce. Was thinkin' she'd stay here and have some positive interaction with the people here. Didn't know everything about her, but think on another level I didn't want to know."
Having confided that to her he then goes on, "But while I was away I also thought about the times when things would have been better to have someone around to ask. Someone who understood what I was going through." A grunt comes from him as he looks back down at his shoe and scuffs some of the dirt and debris off of it by kicking the toe into the sidewalk. "So I came back."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana stares at him, not in a judging way or any of the sort, no she just stares at him in a soft, sincere sort've way. There's a lot here she doesn't know, doesn't understand and she doesn't want to rush to judgements of any kind as that would be unprofessional, nor is it truly her place. She is Laura's friend, that is all, not a parent or guardian.

"Mister... last name, that I do not have." She shows a faint smirk for a second but lets if fade as she looks away. "If you will permit me to be a bit... preachy for a moment, I am quite old in the traditional sense, so it comes naturally to me." Her faint grin now shows. "I am not a parent, I may never be one either. But if I were one, I would make sure that the child I had had as much of my... wisdom as I could possibly give. I believe it is our duty to pass on what our lives have taught us." She looks back ato him. "I sense in you that your life has taught you quite a lot. Laura can, and will, benefit from that, if you can find the... time to tell her." Now she just smiles faintly.

"I came here, mostly to say something of that effect to you and that is the only lecturing I will give to you today. I promise."

Wolverine has posed:
A small half-smile touches his features as he shakes his head and looks away, then he looks back. "M'not sure if she'll ever view me as a... parent sort. But I'll be here ta at least give her what bit of craziness I've gathered over the years. If it helps her, great."
That having been said he starts to push himself to his feet, then turns slightly to the side. "C'mon," He offers her his arm as he motions with a slight side nod. "Got at least fourteen kids all wanting ta meet ya." Considering the number of faces stuck in the bank of three windows for a particular classroom that faces the garden. Sometimes a new face shows up, sometimes they shuffle around.
"I'll introduce you ta some of the other faculty and you can do all the autograph signin' ya can handle." That having been said he'll walk her on back up to the mansion entrance.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana moves to stand up then and she reaches out to put her hand upon the crook of his offered arm as she admires gestures of kindness like that, they remind her of her early days away from Themyscira when some people... had better manners. "Well. I look forward to meeting all of them. This school is... quite lovely." She says with another scanning gaze that moves about the property before she looks back over toward him.

After a second of silence she can't stop herself. "You may not feel like a parent, but you are the closest that she has to such and that alone is enough to make a tremendous impact on her life. I assure you." She then smiles pleasantly. "Lecturing over, now, I double promise." She seems to be of high spirits and after meeting the man she's under the impression she understands him a bit better now than she did prior.

As they make their way toward an entrance to the school she raises her hand and waves to one of the windows with a face in it, and laughs softly as she sees them disappear. "This should be fun."
